Diner Reviews
  • "We really enjoyed Lincoln. The food was great, we ordered 6 plates and all of them were great. Specifically, crab cakes, scallops, and the mac and cheese. I think Lincoln is trying a bit too hard with their drinks. They were good, but felt like there was just a bit too much going on."

  • "The calamari fries was heavily breaded. The hubby and I shared the Cuban and one of the salads with shrimp. The Cuban wasn't piping hot when it arrived so the cheese has cooled. It wasn't that tasty too so my husband was very disappointed. The Cowboy fries was not crunchy and was an extra $3. The salad was good. We also ordered dessert. The Java Sundae was good but very heavy. There was a huge chunk of fudge under the ice cream. Would have been better with more ice cream and less fudge. It was a really hot day and more ice cream would have been perfect!"

  • "The waitresses was super nice and knowledgeable about the area and food. Which made me and my wife a lot better about our trip."

  • "don't even think about it!!! restaurant was cute enough, 4th of july bbq was nice enough. out of the way, not what i pictured. others seemed to be enjoying it more than we did. however, my friend loved the sausage on the grill. signature drink was undrinkable."

  • "Went for the all you can eat 4th of July BBQ and sat at the bar because of the bartender Aaron. He was the funnest part of he experience. The food was good in variety- many people came back to the grill since their burgers were too rare. I skipped it all together.Dessert could have been better. I don't like cobbler or pies and the only other selection was cookies. Not bad for 30 bucks..."

  • "I took my wife here after we have been apart of 2 months. It was great. They set roses out for us at the table and the food and drinks were great! Wonderful experience for a new married couple in DC!"

  • "I wished that I could have sampled the regular menu. I wanted to try some of the foods i read about from the reviews. There was buffet style because of the 4th of July hoilday. It was good but I think that the regular menu would have been better."

  • "My guest and I sat in the rear room, and it was unbearably loud. Literally sitting next to each other, I couldn't hear half of what was said. I've eaten at Lincoln before and the experience was always good, but I never sat in the back before and never again."

  • "For a quick business lunch, my experience at Lincoln was perhaps a B-. Good: The food was quite good and served quickly, our server was friendly and attentive. Bad: We were told that a soup was vegetarian that arrived with crab meat in it (that could have been catastrophic if I had actually had seafood allergies). And, a conversation (even at a small table for two) is really difficult to manage with the noise level. It was impossible to actually conduct business because we had to shout at each other."

  • "This is a wonderful place for a great dining expierence (a little noisy at times) and my client and I really enjoyed it. Will go back again soon!"

  • "Wonderful tapas for dinner - the Brussels sprouts & the mac & cheese were our favorites. But, we really enjoyed the kale salad, short rib, shrimp & grits, and many others too! Great concept, wonderful food, and delicious drinks."

  • "We came here for Sunday brunch since we had never been before. There wasn't much of a wait, but I had already made reservations just in case. We sat outside since the day was so nice and all outdoor seating was in the shade. three of the four of us ordered the eggs benedict and the last one order chicken and waffles. Everything looked great, I was just a little sad I didn't order the bloody mary which also looked tasty. The one complaint I have is the red pepper bisque which was bland :-( and had minimal crab meat."

  • "We loved the Lincoln. Service and food were both outstanding. Had wonderful seating and a special surprise dessert from the waiter for my mother's first trip to D.C. at age 81! Would definitely visit again."

  • "Food experience was excellent and executed well. Service was not commensurate, food came promptly but attentiveness was completely lacking."

  • "Will continue to visit Lincoln - DC! My friends and I really enjoyed our dinner. Loved the Emancipation Punch!"

  • "Food was amazing. Mac and cheese and the shrimp and grits are the best around. Bar was a little slow. I didn't love the cocktails. They did have a wedding reception in the back but it was barely noticeable. Great service, great food, cool place. Def worth checking out."

  • "Stumbled upon this gem for a special dinner with my boyfriend. It was fantastic! The food was great, the servers were well knowledgeable and inviting and food came quickly, not to mention was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for delicious food and a fun atmosphere."

  • "Lincoln is a hipster vibe and a new menu. Small plates featuring American comfort foods with a twist is the order of the day. The charcuterie choices, though few, were delicious. Try the brussel sprouts! Pot Pie was so-so, but the scallops were incredible. The beet puree cocktail was oddly delicious, as were some of the other specialty cocktails. For dessert, the sundae was a real treat. Great evening out."

  • "I brought guests who are very dedicated foodies. They were so thrilled that they took pictures of each course and of the ceiling lights in the back room, asked if they could keep the menu, and one bought a T-shirt. The final perfect touch was when the waiter responded to our praise of the kale salad by handing out cards with the recipe! I have loved the food and the service at every visit, and will be back, especially whenever my companions are adventurous enough to deserve it."

  • "I work next door to the Lincoln. I've dined here infrequently since the week they opened. The food has been inventive and delicious. However. Since POTUS dined 2 years ago they jacked up their prices and decreased the quality of their food, apparently. A "bowl" of soup (less than 8 fluid ounces of creamed red pepper soup with a teaspoon of cold crab on top) and a cold, hard, tasteless piece of trout on an unimaginative Arugula salad came to $25 (not counting tip). That's really steep for a DC lunch, in a location surrounded mostly by civil servants enduring 3 years of pay cuts. Small wonder their business is falling way, way off. I won't return."

  • "But he would be at this restaurant. So many great options. So many layers to each dish. A great experience even though at ¾ full it got a little loud. But there is a ton to love about this place. The decor is fun and engaging and the kitchen is absolutely killing the competition. Reasonably priced and totally worth it."

  • "OK, so BEST part about the brunch was the DJ! He was playing some great music. Loved it. The food, especially the biscuits and gravy were pretty darn good. Simple, good food. I went with a group and we got to sit in this big, white couch booth with penny accents. I loved the whole restaurant decor! Even the bathrooms were cool. Our waiter was pretty awesome too. He was just a cool dude that was always there when you needed something and you could tell he liked his job. This place is definitely somewhere I'd take my friends back to eat again."

  • "The coffee and donut sundae is amazing :) Lincoln is a great spot to go with your girlfriends. We did get a nice table in the back corner away from the crowded bar. The only downside is they bring plates out when they are ready and we had to wait a bit for the mac & cheese."

  • "It was our first time here! I made reservations weeks in advance. As soon as I ordered I was told they ran out of salmon, so no city breakfast nor Egg Benedict for me. So I just ordered the lincoln. My son ordered cinnamon French toast something only to get 4 stick looking pieces on his plate for $14?! No eggs, sausage included on that plate! My husband ordered pancakes, grits and sausage! They brought out our food but no pancakes. After 15 min we had to ask what happened to the pancakes. They were talking about the kitchen is backed up. We ate most of our brunch but really didn't enjoy it all. We got there at 2:10 and were out of there 3:10! So how backed up could the kitchen have been? Oh and the music was way to loud too...."

  • "I had a great night with the lady here, just incredible food and a great feel. I was worried that the concept would be a little too touristy/kitschy, but the Abe Lincoln theme works really well. The waiter got a little mixed up, but I think it was because they misheard us (the music isn't loud, but it isn't soft either). Overall, a great experience that was worth every penny."

  • "Brunch food was mediocre at best and extra-loud music made conversation impossible. I used to recommend this place, but not anymore."

  • "The food was very good. Enjoyed everything that we tried and shared. The only blemish on the experience was our service. After taking our initial order our server was no where to be found. We eventually flagged her down to place an additional drink order which never arrived. Again she was very difficult to find and we had to seek her out to get our drinks. Maybe just a bad night. I will go back at some point based on the food but there are other places that I will try first."

  • "I recently had lunch at the Lincoln with a business partner and it was excellent. We were seated immediately and the service was perfect. The lunch menu had a nice variety of unique items plus standard lunch fare. I was also very pleasantly surprised at the price since it's rated as expensive. Look at the menu, it's quite reasonable, especially for the quality. The only downside for me was the noise level. Lunch was all business meetings with people talking in normal voices, but it reverberated and the whole room was very loud. At times it was difficult to year my lunch mate even though he was right next to me. For a specific recommendation, everyone should try the onion and zucchini hush puppies. They were amazing with a great sauce."

  • "We walked to Lincoln from Ford's Theatre and were glad we had a reservation. The place was hopping! Partly due to happy hour, which runs until 7 pm, but the restaurant was rapidly filling up as well. The 4 of us shared many small plates: - Maryland Crab Tater Tots, more crab than tater and scrumptious! - Brussel Sprouts that surprised you with all their flavor. - PA Duck Sausage, perfect. - Braised Pork Ribs were a meal in themselves, delicious. And their drinks are retro and/or progressive - take your pick. We tried the Lady Lincoln, the '44 Mai Tai, a Lincoln Sour and local beer - all winners. Desserts - Smoked Lemon Meringue Pudding and Coffee and Donut Sundae were killer. I would go back tomorrow if it wasn't 2700 miles away!"

  • "My 11 year old son and I headed back to Washington DC, so I was looking for southern influenced venues. He is a big mac and cheese afficionado. We found the restaurant to be very comfortable and vibrant. Lots of cool lighting and art work including a floor with pennies in the mix! He loved their M & C version so much, we HAD to return for lunch on the day of our flight for his new favorite dishes: fried pickle fries with green goddess dip, mac and cheese, and Old Dominican root beer. I enjoyed a southwestern inspired salad, and some amazing cocktails. One was made with beet juice and ginger that I am still thinking about! Recommend highly. Solid comfort food in a fun environment."

  • "Loved the ambience the most, our server was pretty good too! Ha the best intentions but I just had to keep repeating myself, lol. Very entertaining along with the DJ and other staff. Food could've been a little more seasoned but loved the chefs station."

  • "Decided to try Lincoln for Sunday brunch. I live nearby and always seems like a good time. First the service took too long and there was no one there. Secondly, my entree came out with eggs not cooked as I asked and the biscuit had to have been there since last Sunday brunch. We barely are our food and the server could tell that we were not happy with the food. He was so generous to comp the iced tea and coffee to show his sympathy. I would not recommend Lincoln - go elsewhere. Afterwards, we went to Jimmy Johns and got subs to go. I do recommend jimmy johns subs!"

  • "We had a great experience here for a friend's birthday brunch. We came on a Sunday, and enjoyed delicious breakfast, with a DJ set later in the breakfast. Food & drinks were excellent & we really loved our server! "

  • "This is a MUST for all brunch lovers! With so many choices on the menu I was overwhelmed but managed to narrow it down to the croque madam. The food was AMAZING, the service was outstanding, and the DJ set the vibe via his eclectic, upbeat music selection. Thanks Lincoln for an awesome brunch experience!! "

  • "The lunch menu was predictable. You'd expect a restaurant to change its menus at least once a year, but so far, Lincoln has stuck to its guns and it's getting a bit boring. The Chicken Pot Pie was good, the burgers are good, and the salads are enormous. The only thing Lincoln does change are its seasonal lemonades (which are delicious), but honestly, who goes to a restaurant just to try its lemonades? It's lunch service is good and fast, but if you want to take more than 45 minutes, probably go elsewhere because the staff start giving you looks after that."

  • "It was a pleasant lunch, reasonably priced, healthy selections, great vegetarian options, offer different twists to a single dish. Overall nice place for lunch. Compared to establishments like Fiola or le Diplomate, it rates a 3 but by no means am I discouraging diners. I will return."
