Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways.   • "This place was highly recommended and one of the tops on Trip Advisor. We needed to eat quickly to get to a theatre show in Hendersonvile. I had the Caliente margarita and Civiche sampler as my only meal and it was plenty. Both fantastic. I'd say the best margarita I've weft had. My husband had the Blood Orange margarita, the lobster nachos, and hallibut. He also loved everything. A delicious dining experience. And our server, Chris I think, served us quickly knowing we were in a hurry."

On this visit, service was wonderful, drinks were quick and tasty...food was half and half...my scallops were excellent. My husbands fish was covered in too much cilantro. Lobster Nachos should be revamped. Plate is messy and difficult to pick through."

  • "We tried the weekend brunch for the first time and all four of us are itching to go back. Fresh ingredients, superb choices, layers and layers of flavor, friendly and accomplished wait staff. An all around delightful experience at very modest prices on entrees. Do not go if you are in a hurry - with every entree and appetizer cooked to order, you will be there for a while, especially if you do what we did and ordered rabbit sausage appetizer and chocolate torte (both to share around and both amazingly delicious). Order a Margarita (their specialty) or a beer, relax and enjoy."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish, not a bad bite all night! Great ambiance and wait staff- attentive and friendly. Ever changing menu with interesting and unique flavor combinations adding a nice twist to usual upscale Mexican fare. Notables were the ceviche sampler - all three outstanding! Scallop appetizer was perfectly seared and good portion. Mushroom Sopas were excellent - earthy hearty mushrooms paired with crema and guac on a corn sopa with just enough zip in the salsa to pull it all together. Also excellent were the lamp enchilladas with tasty chili roasted sauce. We were too full for the homemade churros - next time!!"

  • "We've heard good things about Limones for some time and Thursday night was our first visit. The restaurant was full but our reserved table was ready and waiting. Good service with suggestions when asked. A cucumber margarita was perfect---no pre-mix here. Definitely hand crafted. My lamb shank enchilada was delicious. It would be difficult not to order it again, but my husband's sea scallops were the biggest we've seen (and he always orders them so we've seen quite a few) and perfectly seared. The appetizer menu is extremely creative and it would be fun to choose two or three items instead of an entree. We will definitely return."

This seems pretty short sighted by the management because I would think that drinks and wine are a big source of income for a restaurant."

  • "I took my wife here for our 10th anniversary as well to sample this spot for my medical company's regional meeting in July. Unfortunately, our service was not good. The food was excellent, but we were there for 3 hours! We ordered 4 appetizers, the first of which did not arrive to our table until an hour after we had been there. Our entrees, 2 hours after we had been there, dessert was 25 minutes after it was ordered. Our water was refilled one time, no one checked on us to ask if we were happy with our food or needed anything. In spending $200, I would have hoped for more attentive service. I do not believe this was the fault of our waiter for it appeared he was spread very thin across the restaurant."

It was my birthday and perfect restaurant for a celebration, service was phenomenal, food was delectable, cocktail menu was to die for, noise level was perfect, pricing was reasonable for a great meal and a few drinks. I would recommend to any and all people who enjoy food. Reservations definitely a must. Can't wait to come back, live in Simpsonville SC...but we WILL be back,"

Their cucumber-lime Marguerita is a must. Whether you are a vegetarian or carnivore you won't be disappointed. I only wish I didn't eat every bite of my dinner so I would have had room for dessert!"

It is a little treasure tucked off the main drag but apparently not a secret, so reservations are recommended. Food, marguerites (especially the caliente), and staff......ALL exceptional."

  • "The appetizer list looked so good that we decided to make a dinner of them. The ceviche was top-notch, as were all the other appetizers. I didn't expect to be so wowed by the duck sausage with baby peas and truffles, but the flavors were unique and delicious. My wife and I agreed that the scallops we had were probably the best tasting we had ever eaten. The margaritas were tasty, too - the fresh-squeezed lime juice makes a big difference. We could tell that everything that came to our table was tended to with care and culinary expertise."

  • "The night started when we walked in the door and we were seated by a cautious and professional hostess. The server quickly got to our table for drink orders. The drinks were fabulous with fresh squeezed juice and high end tequila. The lamb nacho appetizer and ceviche were fantastic. The main courses were out of this world and the flour less chocolate cake was amazing Homemade chocolates even came with the bill. The night from beginning toend was amazing."
