A word from Limones Restaurant
Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.Continued

  • "If you are looking for a modern take on some Mexican classics, friendly and prompt service and a delightful food experience, this place hits all those marks. We had such an enjoyable food experience we plan to return whenever we are in town, and can get a reservation. It is no mystery why all the tables were full!"

  • "This was our second trip to Limones. Excellent upscale Mexican food. Nice list of tequilas. We will definitely be back our next trip to Asheville."

  • "Limone's was a highlight to our visit to Asheville. The varied menu was chock full of delicious choices. We were a party of four and shared/tasted each other's dishes. What made the food a standout was that each one had so many different flavors and tastes within the dish. The Chimmichuri shrimp was outstanding! I am not a big fan of pesto which was one of the ingredients, but the waitress assured me the taste was not overwhelming. And she was correct-- it was really delicious. The Artichoke Ravioli and Lamb Nachos equally so. Be sure to have one of their margaritas if you go! Tough to please four NY foodies but Limone's well exceeded expectations."

  • "This was our first time here and Limones lived up to the high recommendation we heard. We had the table "in the window" and loved it, getting both a view of the street and also the restaurant activities. The food was excellent and we will be recommending it to others."

  • "Had early reservations for 2 on Friday night. Seated promptly and server came immediately! Has the specialty margarita with habanero and it was delicious! Ordered the snapper ceviche and it was plentiful and tasty! My husband and I ordered the sea bass and it was delicious to the last bite! It melted in your mouth! Finished with tres leches cake which was my husbands favorite! Moist and Light! Loved the whole dining experience. Cute location on a little street off a Main Street downtown. Convenient parking garage just steps away! Loves the experience. Will come again when we visit Asheville. You Will need. Reservation. The restaurant filled up early and walk ins has to wait for open seats at very small bar. Make a reservation!"

  • "When in Asheville, which is often, we will be going back. Everything, from the eclectic decor, to the complimentary finish of the chocolate truffles, was outstanding. Wait staff very knowledgeable about the menu and the preparation of the dishes. I have no criticisms at all."

  • "I found this place a week ago and have been here twice. The Margarita Caliente is fabulous. The appetizers, like the lobster and the traditional ceviche are beyond delicious. For dinner, the scallops were the best I've ever had. The bread pudding is wonderful. This place is a must for anyone who appreciates quality food at reasonable prices. This place is in my top 5 meals of all time."

  • "Limones never disappoints, we hosted 8 out of town (foodie) guests for a wedding party and wanted to give the authentic Asheville experience. Food was fantastic and service was warm and welcoming, location is intimate and personal. Looking forward to our next meal."

  • "It is always a unique and rewarding dining experience at Limones. We love the Mexican flair that enhances every dish on the menu. Seasoned to reveal the essence of the main ingredient while still providing the palate with a taste of Mexico. Viva Limones."

  • "My husband and I were in Asheville for a just over a week, and were so taken by the quality of our overall experience here that we had to return before we left town. Our service was impeccable--in particular our waiter the first night was an obvious food lover, and he was adept at describing the food, suggesting margaritas, and in general meeting our own love for experiencing unique tastes with excellent suggestions. We recommend the Maya Margarita and the Peach-chipotle margarita. Both were exquisite, and I think it's fair to say I've never had such a well-mixed, creative drink. The bar is top notch. We also were able to try three ceviches over the course of our two visits, and all were fresh, innovative, satisfying. DO NOT miss!"

  • "Terrific restaurant- one of best we have found in asheville. Don't be misled by name- this is not tex-mex but sophisticated fusion food. Food prices reasonable, huge list of tequilas- wines for all budgets- good but not distinguished- we already have as reservation to return"

  • "This was our third time at Limones and it was remarkable as usual. We live in asheville and both work downtown, so we know the restaurant scene. When we can get a babysitter, this is our first thought. Do not pass on the civiche, it's always delicious, incredibly fresh, and always unique. While I usually go for the seafood dishes, we took a flyer on a lamb buritto last night, and it was a completely new take - the lamb was incredibly moist and tender and the two different suaces delicately covering each half of the dish were both savory and evenly balanced. Even the side guacamole and infused sour cream were delectable. Thank you Limones!"

  • "It's rare to find a Mexican-California style eatery and we had to give them a go. Excellent! Two thumbs up!"

  • "My husband and I went to Limones on a visit to Asheville and although it had been highly recommended, it surpassed all of our expectations! Our server was able to very knowledgeably discuss the offerings (both food and wine), and the meals we had were fantastic! First we started with the lobster tacos which were wonderful! Then I had sea bass and my husband had what he described to be the best scallop dish has ever had. Topped it all off with a wonderful dessert that I just couldn't pass up when I saw someone else ordering it. This is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to! A real find."

  • "Went for brunch--quite a treat! Creative menu, Mexican-French influenced dishes all seem appealing. From Sea Bass to Huevos Rancheros the food was attractively presented, tasty and so satisfying that resolutions were made to return. The only glitch was that there was a delay in serving the main course for some. It is helpful to have all persons able to start without waiting for someone to be served. Otherwise the food was outstanding, flavorful and satisfying. Servers were friendly, attentive, and helpful. Definitely a top restaurant in Asheville."

  • "A true Ashville gem. It will be on our list every time we visit!"

  • "Had a group of 6 and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Began with inventive drinks: We especially enjoyed the jalapeno martini and blood orange margarita. Lobster nachos were tasty. The hit of the dinner was the chile relleno. It was not battered on the pepper's exterior, and our table agreed that it was the best chile relleno we had ever eaten, and we've eaten many. The hanger steak tacos were light, not greasy like the usual Tex-Mex, and the scallops were "A #1." Don't miss this upscale Mexican dining experience."

  • "My husband and I go to Limones quite frequently. We are never disappointed. The menu. Changes weekly so you don't have the same ole selection. Food is always delicious, beautifully presented on you dish. The ceviche is my absolute favorite. Been a regular for over 7 years."

  • "Three friends and I met at Limones, were seated promptly, and began a two-hour fest of food and conversation. The starter we shared--chips/mushrooms/crema--was lip-smacking good. Two of us had scallops [I found the mashed potatoes/pesto a bit heavy] and two had beef tacos--we all left clean plates. Limones traditional margarita is still the very best I have ever had. Our waiter was just right--there with a smile to take care of us and make sure we were fine--and then off."

  • "Excellent service!..and the food was excellent until my entree arrived. Though very good, the shrimp were overwhelmed by a Chimichurri sauce which was too sweet for my palate... needed a little heat for balance. My wife's scallops were great. The Maya margarita was a wonderful start and complemented the lobster nachos perfectly. The roasted beet and fig salad was a delightful midpoint in my meal. I would definitely return to Limones when visiting Asheville and recommend it to friends!"

  • "Love this place. It is so amazing and delicious. We are from Austin, so we know excellent Mex, Tex-Mex, etc. This place could "school" many restaurants in Austin :) Everything is amazing and inventive. We came here about 3 years ago and loved it. It's even better this trip! You need to make a reservation!"

  • "My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary here. We had been before for brunch and it was exceptional!! The huevos rancheros are to die for! At dinner, we had the lobster nachos which is an all time favorite there and is never taken off the menu! They were delish! I had the seared scallops with pesto mashed potatos and mushrooms! YUMMMY IN MY TUMMY! My boyfriend has the beef tacos...lets just say he would have licked the plate clean but we were in public! We had the chocolate torte! Lovely and very rich! Drinks are fabulous!~ We are tequila lovers! I love this place and so will you...make sure you make reservations, place is always booked solid!"

  • "This might be my favorite restaurant after 1 visit. It is amazing. But you really need reservations. We went at 5, right when it opened for dinner and had no problem getting a table (we had reservations but would've been okay without one) but by 6 it was packed. Everything about our meals was delicious. We had the spicy ceviche to start. It was a shrimp ceviche and very good, although a small portion. I had the lamb shank burrito. It was a big sized burrito and SO SO good. I highly recommend it. Both of my parents got the sea scallops. They were very well cooked, and came with a cilantro pesto mashed potato side which was again, incredible. The dessert menu was small and not too exciting, so we passed, but overall a must try!"

  • "Made reservations at 815 on August 3. Table not ready. Had to stand in hot humid asheville weather or hovering next to diners at their tables inside; no waiting area inside venue for A/C and bar was small/full. Service terrible, waiter was pleasant. Kitchen out of appetizer and tuna steak we ordered. Waited 15 minutes to get drinks which we watched sit at the bar a while, ice cubes already melting in overpriced margarita. Beer came 5 minutes later. Dinner came to our table in shifts. 2 got their meals, then 1 person then the last- 8 minute delaybetween first and last diner. One guest ordered beef tacos which fell apart and quantity was small. Nice complimentary truffles to accompany over priced food bill. Will not dine here again."

  • "We had a great time. Ambience is lovely. Service was slow and not very warm, but all items were correct. Apps and drinks were super super good. Entrees were average to not great. Still a go on my list. Ceviche was awesome"
