Friends were late, but hostess was flexible about seating us when they arrived. We were seated downstairs, in the back corner. It is VERY loud, both upstairs and downstairs. Food was very flavorful, with compliments on every dish by my friends. While truffle mac & cheese is not exactly Peruvian, it was darn addictive nonetheless.
This is a small plates menu, except for the rotisserie chicken. We ordered 5 dishes to be shared among 3 people, and we were satisfied. Our total with tax (before tip) was $53, not bad split three ways.
I definitely recommend, but only for parties up to four people. The dinner was outstanding overall, the combination of flavors and textures delighting my senses with the accompaniment of the perfect beverage. I admit that I was a bit disappointed in the service as our waiter seemed to be eager to turn the table, which I understand but at the same time their goal is to appease the customer and make them feel comfortable and WANT to stay. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he was having an off night and overall it did not hinder my experience. So good, I wanted seconds and thirds and even thought about driving back up to SF from South Bay just to get me some. Glad I exhibited discipline and only had the one Ceviche cocktail so I could sample the fantastic rotisserie chicken. I did smell like the chicken I just ate when I left however.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the dishes were excellentSome of the dishes were excellent - Seco de Costillas (ribs), Ensalada Rusa, but some were disappointing, specifically the "Lomito" Saltado which was highly recommended to us, but was very dry and a bit tasteless.
Another thing which we didn't like was that we were charged 20% gratuity fee but were only 5 people. In most restaurants it is charged for groups of 6, or at the very least the customers are informed and not surprised at the bill.
