The food is great. The chicken is
such a good deal since it comes with two sides for free. The sauces are to die for."

I was really looking forward to
going here! It was a Friday night and the place was like a club...not really my scene for eating dinner. We were seated in a semi quiet area (but around a bunch of other tables) and started ordering our food. Everything came out extremely salty. The chicken was good, but it was hard to look past the salt. I've had better chicken elsewhere for a lot cheaper. I would probably only go back if someone else suggested it. In a city of great food this was not a gem for me."

The chefs there cook Pervian food
so memorable that you know that this is the only place to go to for a true dining experience."

Requested for a side table away
from the main stream noise and the Hostess placed me in the Basement where there was a huge Birthday Bash of over 20 people making loud insane noise. Since we were in the basement, it was dark and every scream/laugh bounced off the walls like a ping pong ball which made it even more noisy then upstairs. Also the staff was busy with the party so we were not serviced in a timely manner."

Came here with my family and
greatly enjoyed the small plates and the desserts. Wonderful experience from top to bottom. Best place for ceviche in town. And the chicha morada drink is excellent! Made with purple corn and ginger among other lovely flavors, was splendid."

Good food. We made a reservation
but was ten min late. Somehow they missed us as the seats freed up and we didn't get our table until about 30 mins later. But the food was good and we know that we had to order their chicken as so many people were having it! It was a good choice - tender, juicy and came with three types of sauces, which ranged from creamy to slightly spicy. Three of us shared half a chicken, which comes with two sides. We ordered their yuka fries, which was really delicious. Plus another two sides and we were pleasantly surprised that the price only comes out to about $15 per person. Have to make sure that we are not late for our next reservation here."

Promptly seated even though we
arrived well before our reservation. Food were serviced at good speed."

We had a delicious meal at Limon.
I shared the roasted 1/4 chicken and a few appetizers with a friend and we enjoyed every bite. The ambiance is a bit heavy and loud for my taste, but that did not prevent me from fully enjoying my meal. Keep in mind that there is a downstairs area so you should specity if you want to be in the top room or in the basement."

I used to go to Limon every
Saturday night. One of the owners treated me with respect as the loyal customer I was. Last sunday night was different: I was sent a gift certificate to have a complimentary $13 on my b'day w/ 6 people. One of my guests canceled so we had 5. The manager (2/9 pm) would not honor the gift certificate and was not at all helpful or even polite. ( it was not the money, because we spent a lot of $ that night! it was the treatment and lack of respect). We were seated next to the front door and it was cold. I was very embarrassed that I had asked my guests to meet me at Limon. ( I want this note to go to the restaurant, but it is too long to fit in #4. please forward to owner) (the hostess was nice)"

The food al Limon is very good
specially the roasted chicken,Truffle Mac and cheese and the empanadas. Although I have to say I have never been lucky I guess... to experience good service. All the servers are always rush to get you in and out and sometimes don't even ask if you are done they just take your plate out the way and go to the next step or upsell drinks when you are not even done with the first one. They also have a poor knowledge about the ingredients and ask you to wait while they ask the cooks or the bartender.Overall Limon is just "OK" if you like a lot of flavors but please do not come here on a special night or bring a date here. The sad part is that the people and the managers are Ok running a mediocre restaurant!"

Downstairs is a little bit of a
weird vibe but it was a great place to talk. The food and service was awesome."
Dined on 2/6/2014
Great Peruvian food in the Mission
neighborhood of San Francisco! The rotisserie chicken is their specialty and it's delicious, as are the empanadas and side dishes. Can't wait to go back."

Why serve delicious food and then
blast music in your small restaurant? It's gotten bad enough, with younger people especially not using "inside voices" and assuming that everyone wants to hear their conversations. Do we need the loud music, too? We tried dining early (6:30) but between the music and the too-close-together tables, we suffered through what should have been an enjoyable meal - and just wanted to leave. SF restaurant owners, you might be succeeding in creating faster turnover. But at what cost? Sad that we won't be returning here or any other restaurants that care more for faster turnover -- or worse, entertaining the servers -- than their patrons' experience."

Bad service. Stood at door with no
acknowledgment while waiters stood behind bar staring at me. Food was so salty. Used to come here often but don't think I'll be back."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Let me start by saying the food
here is delicious. I'm not giving them low scores based on the food, but rather the service. I came here last weekend to celebrate my birthday and made a 7:30pm reservation a week in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, it took them 40 minutes to seat us! Look, I understand it gets busy during the weekend, but that's why you have a reservation system. The hostess kept saying that another party had our table and that they finished eating and paying, but were just not leaving yet. Here's some advice, ASK THEM TO LEAVE! What's the point of a reservation system if you're not going to honor the time. The manager comped us with sangria, which was nice. But having to wait so long just sucked!"
Dined on 1/25/2014
Limon on S. Van Ness is one of my
favorite restaurants. The juicy flavor of the chicken and the dipping sauces can be split amongst your party. The empanadas, sides (tacu tacu, rice and beans, etc.) are all very flavorful. I recommend also getting the ceviche as an appetizer."
Dined on 1/26/2014
I will go back there for the food.
But, the ambience doesn't deserve more than two stars. The music is extremely loud and leaves you with a headache."
Dined on 12/28/2013
This place is a bit noisy to my
taste but we got a very nice separate table that felt comfortable! i also, like to dine downstairs. Meet dishes were a bit salty to my taste but unbelievable delicious! Red snapper ceviche and tuna tartar were yumm! Craving their food already. Will come back for my bday in a week"

Had a 7PM reservation and l/the
lack of parking made me late. The restaurant does not seat your party unless every one has arrived. For a party of 2, we were seated right by the door which meant waiting patrons were constantly running into our table and their purses kept smacking our shoulders. We asked if we could be seated somewhere else, and the hostess told us they were completely booked. On the other hand, food was amazing. Tapa style. Great wine list."
Dined on 3/23/2013
Excellent grilled chicken, lots of
hearty sides. Nothing subtle about this place, but a great choice in the Mission to bring last-minute guests, as it seems a reservation is always available."
Dined on 12/16/2013
Although they could not find our
Open Table reservation - (I had the email to prove it), we were quickly seated and had a very enjoyable late lunch/early dinner before the Theatre on a Sunday afternoon. Every dish we tried, and we tried 5 different several small plates plus the favorite chicken, was very tasty with just the right amount of seasoning. They serve the best Sangria! Yum! and our shared Chocolate Bandito dessert was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious."
Dined on 1/12/2014
We were seated downstairs with
several large and very noisy parties around us. There were only two of us, there for an early dinner, on a date. We couldn't hear each other over the screaming of the other parties -- the wait staff and the host staff did not seem to care, nor were they thoughtful about where they placed us. There were many empty tables on the upper floor when we arrived -- I had the feeling that we were dropped in downstairs because we'd made the reservation online! I've eaten at Limon many times in the past and have always enjoyed it, but this time felt rudely treated. The food was a step down than usual -- sloppily presented, and the salad overdressed."
Dined on 12/20/2013
Seated in the basement. Noise
levels make conversation impossible. Do not reserve too early as that is the kiddie dinner hour. Service mediocre."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Everything we ate was very good
and the price was reasonable. If you don't eat chicken or fish you may have more difficulty finding a main course that you can eat. The service was very good and came out quickly. We felt a little rushed to eat and leave as we were complete with our dinner in under an hour. Great if you have tickets to a show."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Some of the best chicken I've had
on SF... Great chicken is hard to find. For a group of four, none if our food came at the same time, diminishing our experience. I'd go back for cheap good eats."
Dined on 1/2/2014
I've eaten here with girlfriends,
and more recently with family. The food was very flavorful, tasty home cooking. However the food came out separately. The side portions were a little small, kind of like tapas style. The chicken was amazing, the yucca fries were amazing, the short ribs were my favorite. Go for the food- delicious! My friends and family were pleasantly surprised. My only complaint was that we sat by the front door and every time it opened, a cold cold cold blast came in. When people waited around the door, it was like insulation which we welcomed. We will certainly go back but not sit next to the door."

I have spent over nine months in
Peru & am very familiar with Peruvian cuisine...Limon has some of my favorite dishes such as lomita saltado & their rotisserie chicken is out of this world. Worth working through the menu & enjoying the wide range of dishes that they offer."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Great as usual but I missed not
having Anna as our waitress nor Freddy as our waiter."
Dined on 12/23/2013
It was just what I needed after a
sunday football fest. Good food and great sauces!"
Dined on 12/8/2013
This was my first time going to
limon. Our waiter was great. The price was mediocre. The ceviche is to die for. The only complaint I have is that the chicken was just a little salty. But overall had a great experience."
Dined on 11/20/2013
I love this restaurant and I bring
everyone I can to it. My favorite is the Valencia location because the atmosphere in Van Ness is not as nice but there tend to be more reservations available at Van Ness. We were sat directly in front of the door on a night it was about 45 degrees and raining out so we ate with coats on. Other than that, great as usual. Just ask not to be sat by the front door as it's cramped and there's no protection from the wind/cold."
Dined on 12/6/2013
Don't hesitate, just go.
Everything we ate (short ribs, mixed ceviche, half chicken, mushrooms, sautéed veggies, etc) and drank (pisco sours and mango juice, etc.) was delicious! They are friendly and the service is fast. It's a a must go. Share as much food as possible :)"

We dined at the S Van Ness
location. Service was quite good; friendly. The food was good but not great: I found the chicken unpleasantly salty. Since the chicken was the draw, I can only give 3 stars for the food. Sweet potato fries on the side were very good. The truffle mac & cheese side was quite mediocre: no real truffle flavor, the cheese sauce was soupy (too thin) and the pasta on the mushy side. Chocolate dessert was fine. Piscos were mediocre: not cold enough (they premake parts, and I saw the bartender pour from a blender that was already sitting there full) and too sweet and intense -- a pucker-up experience rather than a smooth and refreshing one -- I sortof wanted to add water to it."
Dined on 12/3/2013
Meals arrived to the table one at
the time, was never offered additional beverages, had to ask several times for refills on soft drinks. The food had great plate presentation and very tasty that said, In general service was un attentive and disconnected."
Dined on 11/30/2013
Parking was terrible - service was
poor - food was not up to the quality that we we're led to believe. Would be a nice lunch place."
Dined on 11/27/2013
Food was excellent, as always,
however, the guy serving our table was not very friendly, perhaps there were other reasons for his unfriendly energy since he has served us before and has been pleasant. Other than that, it was a very satisfying outing, especially since we were able to reserve the table, and on the top floor, with ease!"
Dined on 11/27/2013
Peruvian food at its finest!
Definitely recommend the Van Ness location for its ambience"
Dined on 12/31/2012
We were a group of 4 and 2 of us
arrived on time. They refused to seat us until everyone was present, as they did with others, so there were of bunch of us blocking the door--doesn't seem that smart. The rotisserie chicken was dry, according to the 3 other people in my group who ordered it. There were very few Peruvian dishes on the menu. I had Russian salad and Jalea--both were just OK. There was no Papas a la Huanciano, Ocopa Arequipena, Causa, Aji de Gallina, Chupe de Camarones or any other commonly found Peruvian dishes on the menu. We thought we would try something new. I wish we had gone to Piqueos or Mochica--both of which are far superior to Limon, and relatively close. Limon has a Zagat rating that is really questionable."
Dined on 11/23/2013
We loved our chicken but the
paella was not very good. It was gooey. The staff is fun and attentive, but it was cold and not very comfortable."
Dined on 11/23/2013
Great food. Fair prices. Will no
doubt come back.!!"
