You can imagine how surprised we were to find the Limestone restaurant closed/out of business, after making reservations through Open Table. We were very disappointed. There seems to be a glitch in your system!!! Thank you,

Limestone used to be a great place for a great meal. But, sadly, it closed 9/1/14, without OpenTable's knowledge. Made reservations 9/2/14 and and my wife and I went to have a nice dinner on 9/8/14. Pulled into the parking lot and it was deserted. Not a soul. Building locked; phone disconnected. Yeah, a great night.

Chef Jim Gerhardt built this amazing restaurant and always was on the cutting edge of Kentucky cuisine. My favorite has always been his BBQ shrimp on grits. Over the years he has created so many wonderful Kentucky dishes with a creative flair. Saturday the doors on this chapter of his life are closing. We hope he will open a new door and continue to be on the scene as one of Kentucky's best known chefs. Good Luck!

The food to be very good, but unless the servers are trained better, it will never be a fine dining experience. Wine was opened & the first round poured, but then we were left to serve ourselves to the rest. While serving the fried calamari, some bits ended up on the table, these were not cleaned up until we pointedly asked the waiter to do so (he had the tool in his pocket but never thought to use it!). We asked to take the balance of our entrees home, so they were packed up and the styrofoam containers immediately placed on the table so we could look at them/maneuver around them during the dessert & coffee course. This restaurant can be top tier with improved service.

The food and service was outstanding. Fresh bread is served with butter and oven roasted garlic. The shrimp (grilled) and grits (fried cake) appetizer dish was very good. We also had the grilled tenderloin filet with roasted garlic custard potatoes and the rainbow trout filet wrapped around a very nice portion of crab meat and served with spinach tomato ragout. All items were cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a very impressive wine list at very attractive prices. I highly recommend Limestone Restaurant.

We visited on a Monday evening for a wedding anniversary celebration. The service was superb and the food was outstanding. The lobster bisque is to die for. We ordered the pork chop and salmon for our entres along with the buttermilk mashed potatoes. It was all very good...especially the pork chop. As an unexpected treat, they were running a weeknight promotion where entres from the grill were 50% off, so the pork chop was $13! There were not many other guests in the restaurant this night, allowing the chef to help deliver our food to our table. We enjoyed the attention. We will visit again.

I have enjoyed Limestone over the years. Our latest visit was with a new employee and his wife as an effort to welcome them and get to know them better. The four of us chose the chef's choice, which worked really well both to satisfy our curiosity and palates and to give us plenty to talk about. Each dish was well presented and delicious. The service was warm and gracious. It was a successful evening, thanks to excellent food and service.

This was my first visit to Limestone. I made a reservation for 2pm, and the hostess did not seat us until 2:30. This meant we had 30 minutes to enjoy the buffet. The staff apparently did not feel the buffet should be stocked or looked after since the cutoff time was 3pm. When I mentioned that the buffet dishes were not being refreshed, our waiter stated we should have made an earlier reservation.

Our first time to Limestone, we went after the Kentucky Derby. They had a special 4-course menu which had good choices. The problems started when we got the appetizer before anyone came by to take our drink order. To say that the entire meal seemed rushed would be an understatement. At the prices they charged for that night ($110/pp), this should never happen. Food was good and cooked just as ordered. We had the filet mignon, which was average, and the lamb chops which were very good. Service was good but we felt rushed for all courses. We did not feel the overall experience was a good value for the price.

We were sooo taken advantage of because they were able to get away with it during the Derby. It was a flat charge of $110.00 a person for what they called a special menu. We had one little store bought piece of toast with a table spoonful of tomato and about 3 bites of a salad. Only two choices for an entree served with fat frozen fries topped with brown gravy. Dessert was a cup of cream brulee topped with cool whip. Such a rip off. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. If it stays in business I will be surprised with such an unethical business practice. They were also the only place that would charge $50.00 if you canceled. That should tell you something of the nature of the ownership. Desperate!!

We dined here during our Derby weekend. I booked this way ahead for my daughter, two of her gal pals and myself. Limestone offered a prix fixe menu during Derby weekend and it was delicious from start to finish. The waitstaff is very attentive, your meal is not rushed and everything they served was wonderful. Presentation was over the top in this fine dining establishment. Sit in the corner by the aquarium. It's entertaining to say the least.

Came back for the inventive bourbon cocktail list and Southern cuisine.Had neither on Oaks night. Also only had one kind of champagne.Expect prix fixe menu (and slow service-not disappointed there :( )Derby weekend, but our only choice was between 3 entrees. Waiter appeared to wish to be anywhere but at our table. We had to beg for the champagne and he told me cocktails weren't available because they were revising the menu. Really?? The biggest weekend of the year? Hostess and assistant server were amazing.Location is much more convenient for us (E.L'ville),but doubt we'll be back.

Dad and I were traveling for the Derby all the way from Alaska and wanted to eat at a really, nice place to round off the experience. The Limestone was definitely classy. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly, willing to answer questions I'm sure he thought were silly. Because it was Derby weekend, we couldn't choose anything from the menu - it was just the one, fixed menu for everyone all night. It was a 5 course meal and the presentation was beautiful. The only thing I didn't like: it was $110 per person. When I booked the tickets, it said that you could get a meal for $30 which sounded very reasonable to me. $110 took me by surprise! I wasn't super thrilled that we HAD to pay that much to eat there. But it WAS tasty!

My wife and I ate at Limestone. Good layout for a restaurant and nice ambiance. The server was very friendly. My wife ordered a brand new pasta dish (so new the servers had not even seen it yet). The pasta was dry and the sauce lacked flavor. I ordered the bourbon smoked ribeye. The steak was cooked to the right temperature but absolutely had no seasonin and no flavor except bourbon. When we mentioned the lack of flavor to the server nothing was done to accommodate us. I have been to Limestone before but it looks like there has been a change in the kitchen and we will not be back.

I booked a reservation the day before. We came in 30 minutes early and was seated right away. I was a bit concerned that the parking lot was almost empty and very few people in the restaurant at 7pm; however, as our dinner progressed more and more people began to come in. We were greeted by our server, Steven, right away. We did not have cocktails or wine, but the lists for both was fantastic. The pre-dinner rolls were so delicious; soft and warm served with soft butter and whole, roasted garlic goves. We ordered fried calamari and lobster bisque to share. Both were wonderful. Perfect amount to share and do not ruin our dinner. I ordered the Cheeseburger and my husband order the ribeye. Both entrees were cooked perfect.

Dined celebrating a weekday birthday and loved being able to take advantage of the half price bottles of wine. Teaser appetizer by the chef was a delightful and delicious surprise. Birthday boy, who is not a grits person, thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Short rib received high marks; however, salmon dish, while good, did not have much wood-plank flavor and I would have loved to have had a few more bites of vegetables.
