Diner Reviews
  • "As always, Lilly's was a superb dining experience. The flavor combinations and textures perfectly complimented each other to the smallest and most subtle of flavors. Whenever I travel through Louisville, I always make it a point to done there and have never been disappointed. The consistency of the experience is greatly appreciated."

  • "My boss of 20+ years finally made it to Louisville and it was a pleasure to bring him to Lilly's. Not only was the food and serivce terrific but the location is distinctly "Louisville"."

  • "Food was good but not memorable. Staff was very attentive, efficient and helpful. Peach Pear martini was very good!"

  • "We booked a table at Lilly's while planning a weekend getaway to Louisville. The menu was intriguing so we thought we would give it a try - it was all we had hoped for! The food was creative and delicious, and the bourbon menu was mind-boggling. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner for 2. We would definitely go there again."

  • "First time at Lilly's and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our group of 4 started with some shared apps: Roasted Garlic, Frites, and Duck Nachos and all were very yummy. For our entrees we had Veal Scallopini, Braised Lamb Shoulder, 7 Deadly Sins, and Fried Chicken and shared these as they were all very good. Our server, Amy, was very attentive, friendly, and professional - kudos and thank you!"

  • "Amazing food, always innovating. Has been a top 3 restaurant for years."

  • "Restaurant was empty. Quiet, music was old fashioned. Menu limited, had few healthy choices. What we did order was very good. Service was good."

  • "Food was terrific, very attentive staff, not 5 star quality, but very nice and friendly."

  • "FAbulous as always. Great European ambiance coupled with creative spins on traditional fare featuring local produce. Really one of the best restaurants in town."

  • "My husband started with the duck nachos that were really good and I ordered the Caesar salad. The salad was not cut up and the dressing was not very good. I had the filet, it was tender and cooked as ordered. He had the veal steak but it was very tough. We skipped dessert. It was okay but we probably will not be back. Not the best food I have had around town."

  • "Took my wife for her birthday and we had a wonderful dinner. Food was fantastic service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommend for any occasion. They also have nice room off to back which is great for business meeting or group dinner."

  • "Lilly's Bistro has outstanding food and friendly, courteous service. I think there were some new staff members on Valentine's Day, so the service might have been a little slow, but the charm and atmosphere made up for it. My (now former) girlfriend really enjoyed the chocolate cake for desert. ($150 drinks & dinner and a "Dear Don" visit 3 days later... Go figure.)"

  • "They had good service that was there when needed but not annoying. Great atmosphere and the inside is beautiful. The food was my favorite part. The veal and the filet were perfect. The "Old Fashioned" they made me is my new favorite mixed drink, you have to try it if your a whiskey fan."

  • "Enjoyed a special evening for 2 at Lilly's..... Always appreciate the service provided by favorite waiter here (Jeff). My wife & I had starters including the fried oysters and separate Pate...both delicious!! Our main course was also marvelous, with seared scallops and veal piccata prepared perfectly. We had a relaxed pace during courses by having red wine and cocktails, then the meal with chilled lemon pie and caramel cake......a very delightful evening! You can't beat Lilly's for a special evening enjoying Cathy's menu and local goodies"

  • "First time to Lily's and new to the Louisville area. Since being here I haven't had a bad meal at any place we chose to eat, but Lily's is by far the best! Try their fried chicken and sweet potato pancakes, they are delicious. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the wait staff are superb. I most certainly recommend this place for any dinning situation. The great quality of the food is accompanied by a complete beer and wind list, which is offset by a great price."

  • "Since we don't live in Louisville, it has been an embarrassingly long time since I've eaten at Lilly's, the benchmark against which I once measured all restaurants. I am very pleased to report it has lost none of its special charm. Should be on the bucket list of every serious eater in the region, and a destination dining experience for the REALLY serious foodies in the country!"

  • "There are many good things about Lilly's, but the best to me is that it never disappoints. The menu selections vary, they are always creative and they are always good. In addition, the service is prompt and the servers are pleasant and knowledgeable. It is a "stand-by" that never gets old."

  • "Lilly's was an early leader in using locally raised and produced foods in their cooking, and it still shines in that department. I was, however, disappointed in our recent meal. I food the menu to be both small (not necessarily a bad thing) and the execution of our choices was not particularly exciting. My wife's fried chicken was too greasy, and the flavors were too sweet for my taste; the gnocchi dish I had likewise had too many sweet notes. Portion size, presentation and service were all excellent."

  • "One can always count on Lilly's! The food is exceptional, and Kathy Cary remains one of the finest chefs anywhere, and we are so fortunate to have her here in Louisville. She continues to invent special dishes and incorporate ingredients into those dishes that you might likely have never had before. She doesn't cut corners, (wonderful artisan bread served with every meal, 2 large pieces of fried chicken within the gourmet sandwich, etc.), and yet she has managed somehow to keep her prices low enough that you realize you've probably spent less for a lunch in her charming restaurant than you would have had you been somewhere like Panera Bread. Her wait staff is always accommodating and gracious. Very profession yet friendly."

  • "What a great dinner and evening we had! Service was excellent....a special tip of the hat to Mica! Our food was delicious and beautifully prepared. All six of us in our party raved about the restaurant! We live about 50 miles away, but we'll be back!"

  • "Decor was nice,waitress-okay.Needs improvement-explained it was our first time there, oil & salt was explained 20 min. after the bread came;Hostess said Happy Birthday as we were seated(was on our reservation)but the server had no clue& did not make it any more special;for the price, inspect the ware.My husband's steak knife had food caked on it;Ambiance-null.Compared to other pricey restaurants in the area, glad we did it for our father/in-law,would not go back.Paying for service & ambiance is worth paying for an expensive meal. If they don't pay attention to small details, then it's not worth paying for.None of the food made us say wow, and we are foodies & enjoy it when food dances in our mouths. None of the food served did that for us."

  • "Every dish was delicious, as always. The waiter had excellent recommendations for wines, appetizers and entrees. We were there after 8 and the restaurant was quiet and relaxed."

  • "What a sublime experience. The food was superb: Blue Point Oyster Chowder, Scallops with Pappy Van Winkle drunken grits, caramel cake and peppermint ice cream with the most amazing chocolate sauce. The suggestions for libations (how many bourbons on hand?) and the wines were terrific as well as the friendly, and professional service. How many owners of fine restaurants these days still stop at every table to discuss your meal and welcome you? We have eaten at many highly rated (and expensive) restaurants but for value and overall experience this was amazing. No wonder this restaurant has lasted with such a fabulous reputation for so many years! KUDOS."

  • "Lilly's has been in business for years and years and for good reason. The food is out of this world and the service is outstanding. The menu is ever changing with fresh, local ingredients. They have never rested on their laurels and they keep the menu and the wine list fresh and exciting!"

  • "The food is great, the service is impeccable and the bourbon selection is second to none. We have been to Lily's three times in the last two years (we go every time we are in Louisville) and have never been disappointed."

  • "Lilly's has transitioned to a "Bistro" format but the food remains top quality. Service is "efficient" but not exactly friendly. A visit from the owner at the end of our meal was a treat."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "Charcuterie plate & roast garlic appetizers were satisfying enough to be the entire meal. Veal entree was exquisite."
