Diner Reviews
  • "We had a not so favorable time w dinner few years back . Too noisy and attitude. But, the patio is charming during lunch and would be great at night too! Food spectacular..duck confit, fresh hearts of Palm salad, sizzling shrimp. Our favorite dessert -goat cheese quenelles w poached pears and lavender honey. Just needs one more pear half. Can't wait to come back to Nola to eat here."

  • "The ratings reflect outdoor garden dining. The indoors seemed like a very nice restaurant but crowded and somewhat noisy. But the wait staff, environment and food made for a special. Would strongly recommend."

  • "This charming place gives you a great ambiance in addition to excellent food and drinks. Highly recommendable. The place is far frim the touristy Bourbon Street, but still in a buzzling neighbourhood that you like to hang out in."

  • "Excellent food and service. Eating out often has made be selective and rarely do I rate anything perfect, but this was superb. The wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and made solid recommendations. Nicholas, the Sommelier was expert and guided us to a fine Italian selection that fit beautifully. Very amazing to find such a marvelous combination of fine dining for less than high end pricing. My only regret is that this restaurant is not in my hometown."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner at Lillette recently. I've been going there for years and it never fails to amaze me with the wonderful ambience, great service and fabulous food."

  • "Overall the experience was good. Expensive for lunch - wine specials would be a nice touch and keep price lower in range than dinner."

  • "We visit New Orleans fairly often and Lilette is always a delightful treat. The interior has the feel of some of the older New Orleans restaurants with tile floors and white table cloths but with a more upbeat, lively bistro ambiance and a fresh take on locally influenced dishes. We ordered appetizers and salads for a light lunch and were quite happy - oysters w/ a vinaigrette, sauteed spicy shrimp, arugula & fennel salad - not unique dishes but prepared with fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned. Plus I love a restaurant that brings fresh bread and butter to the table - that is just how New Orleans meals are supposed to start! The service was excellent. This was at least our 4th visit and we have never been disappointed."

  • "It was early April so we ate outside. The good was great the wine was good and it was a nice little garden nook to eat outside. It was recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend it too. Note - it was pretty loud inside when I went in to use the restroom."

  • "As always great food, service and ambience. First class restaurant with interesting and evolving menu options"

  • "Very progressive restaurant. kathie gave excellent service. Extremely disappointed that both striped and blue marlin was on the menu. there is no excuse for a restaurant of this quality to offer nonsustainable seefood. Game fish are under substantial pressure and short fishing (catch and release) is a major source of income for deeveloping third world countries. We should not be serving them on the menu. Spoke with the chief. if you go and still on the menu, please SPEAK UP."

  • "Nice change of pace from New Orleans' traditional offerings. We ordered just appetizers and everything was the top of its class. Sizzling shrimp, escargot, fried sardines, and hearts of palm salad. The shaved fennl salad was the best thing we had all weekend, and we got the recipe."

  • "Very much enjoyed every bite of each portion. Left feeling very pleased to have discovered & dined at this restaurant."

  • "Lilette continues to offer intersting and unusual dishes that are prepared to a very high standard. The restaurant is a great setting, although it can get loud at times, especially given the many hard surfaces - tile floor, tin ceiling, etc. The service is prompt and attentive and it's invarably a good meal."

  • "Went on a date night with another couple and the hostess tried to squeeze us into a small table right at the front door of the restaurant. We politely asked if she had something more private. We were lucky enough the back "room" was open and how perfect it was! A nice comfy booth/banquette in the back of the restaurant. Request this spot for a special date night!!! And the food....oh the food was perfection."

  • "I'd read about Lilette online & made my reservation in advance of our trip for a conference, based on online reviews, knowing that the best restaurants would be booked. We ran into several locals in the Garden district who endorsed our choice. I was impressed by the service, particularly in that we'd shrunk our reservation from 7 to 5, only to have 2 more people show up. The staff was unruffled and accommodated the addition, as well as one of my associate's bringing some vintage wine which they handled seamlessly. We were impressed not just by the cuisine - the duck & everything else we had was delicious- but also by the wine list. I'm from San Francisco and sometimes disappointed by overhyped restaurants, but Lilette is a great find."

  • "Three hour lunch, superb from start to finish. Excellent wait-person who was knowledgable and helpful and also had sense of humor. Great oysters on the 1/2 followed by super salads, soups and entrees. This restuarant consist lay performs at the top of their game and raises the bar for the newcomers around town. Most have a way to go to achieve both the consistency and innovative flavor always presented here. Easy parking. Great looking place. Great bar."

  • "Had high hopes for this neighborhood joint: great reviews, special occasion/romantic spot... None proved true! We arrived a bit early & were told that our table was still occupied, but we could wait at the bar. There were about 6 empty tables at the time. After 20 minutes, I checked with the hostess and she had FORGOTTEN all about us! Mind you, the 6 tables were still empty. When I inquired about being seated at one of these empty tables, I was told that they had several large parties and were holding them. Never mind that for 2 of these tables it would have been impossible to group with others. Not good. The sommelier was quite attentive, repeatedly filling our glasses (hoping to sell more?) Food uninspired. Will not return."

  • "Our dinner at Lilette was excellent. Sweetbreads and crab claws were great. The tuna was excellent and the desserts with goat cheese was a good finish. They have a nice outdoor area for dinning as well."

  • "We had a great time. It was definitely a "happening" place. The menu was quite unusual and an experience. We all loved it, but would go only on special occasions. It was our anniversary, so very memorable."

  • "With high expections and an 8:30 reservations, we were very disappointed to be told that our table wasn't ready. We were directed to their "sister" bar next door, but chose to sit at the small restaurant bar ( in order to keep an eye on our reservation). The bartender was very good and the only staff sympathetic that we had to wait a half hour for our table. Out of four top restaurants over our stay, we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to be seated. Once seated, without apologies, we were given fair service, but not gushing. We commented that our entree was missing more than one advertised element but the waitress didn't make an effort to find out why. The bread was seemed stale. Dessert menu was unappealing."

  • "Was in town for a convention and a rendezvous with my wife who joined me for the weekend. The week was loaded with culinary hotspot entertainment and Lilette was the best of the week. The food, service and ambience was exceptional. My wife felt it was a perfect setting for the weekend getaway final dinner."

  • "...and try this little French bistro for lunch or dinner. Superb food, great service, decent wine list. We had lunch here and we loved it. No hustle bustle touristy stuff. Real NOLA"

  • "It's been several years since we dined at Lilette. Nice to leave the French Quarter for the Garden District. Even more, Lilette offers a more romantic venue with a very pleasant change of pace from the more traditional New Orleans venue with crowds and noise. The menu is not large, but satisfying. My wife loved the squab; I had fish. The service was very nice - we were encouraged to enjoy our dinner without being rushed. Lilette will be on our "bucket list" the next time we are in town."

  • "We enjoyed our food and the wait staff was excellent. My challenge was finding entrees that are gluten free, but that challenge is not unique to Lilette, it is more an issue with New Orleans syle food. The wait staff was very helpful in assisting me with options for dinner."

  • "Once again, Lilette delivered! We took visitors for dinner, and everything from predinner cocktails to dessert was superb! I started with the kale salad - delightful and light. Finished with the skirt steak. Our guests had the sweatbreads and seafood dishes. Top notch service - attentive but not intrusive. Lilette deserves a spot near the top of NOLA restaurant rankings"

  • "Outstanding food, service, and ambiance. This is clearly one of the very best restaurants not only in New Orleans but in the U.S. The wine selection is spectacular and the seafood is always fresh with a clever and interesting preparation. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. In a city full of notable restaurants, this one stands out."

  • "We had great lunch here just before Mardi Gras. I wanted to show our out of town guests a taste of New Orleans before the parades so we had a late lunch, The cauliflower soup-i can't get it out of my head.My friends raved about the beet salad. My guests loved the hanger steak, my wife flipped over the gulf fish of the day. The waiter was great and allowed me to get the black drum that was on the dinner menu instead of the fish of the day. All in all a great meal that helped show off our neighborhood and our city's reputation as foodie heaven."

  • "Regular menu for Valentine's Day which is special. The food was incredible. My wife had fish that was cooked too perfection - moist and flavorful. The beef cheeks were tender like short ribs and also very flavorful. The fried sardine appetizer was also delicious but the king crab claws with butter-passion fruit sauce was the best. The flavor just exploded in your mouth and was one of the best sauces I have ever had. Definitely a go back to place for an incredible dining experience."

  • "Lilette is one of those places where I get more excited about the appetizers than the entrees. We went with a 2nd appetizer instead of a second course soup or salad. There isn't anything wrong with the main dishes, they're just not as interesting. Nutella dessert was excellent. If I wasn't in a room full of people I would have licked the bowl clean"
