Diner Reviews
  • "Charming neighborhood spot that was once a corner drug store, I was told. Crowded and when the tables fill up the noise has no where to go but still a should do if you want to get out of the Quarter and dine without the hoopla. Started with a lovely cup of chicken soup with a soft poached egg and ended with a well conceived and presented cheese plate. Made a meal of two apps...the truffle toast and the CRAB CLAWS IN PASSION FRUIT BUTTER! Never got a picture to share because once the fragrance hit me the were history with only a few flakes of crab clinging to a drop of sauce! Do not miss this small gem and eat outside if weather permits."

  • "I had eaten at Lilette on my own a few weeks ago. Had a first rate Caesar salad which was the special salad that night & then the braised short ribs & a lovely glass of Sancerre. All excellent. I went back with my husband the other night. The chick pea/fennel soup was very good as was a warm beet salad but then I ordered the short ribs again & was disappointed. The meat tasted like it had been re-heated & was tough. The polenta was thin & soupy. I was so disappointed because the first time it was outstanding. However, I would go back again & taste some other dishes as it is a lovely restaurant with good service, nice ambiance and a well thought out menu."

  • "Overall I thought it was a very good restaurant. I just feel as though I paid a lot for what I was given. My meal tastes go, but did not fill me up completely. Worth a trip, but not very often"

  • "Lilette is always consistently yummy. I usually order the same dishes time after time. The beets, marrow toast, raw fish plate. This time I had the special, yellowfin tuna over puréed white beans. Such a treat."

  • "With so many delicious restaurants in Nola , I keep going back to this one. I enjoy their seasonal specials. Food is great and they are always friendly."

  • "WHITE TRUFFLE TOAST!!! Deftly crafted cocktails. Wine list is extensive and well-curated. Service was attentive-relaxed. There was an ebullient ambiance, which on a Friday night, feels just right."

  • "One of my favorite in New Orleans. Can't go wrong. If you don't see what you want they willake it happen."

  • "Food and service were both excellent. Good energy! Perfect size portion. Fish was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend it."

  • "We had 5:30 reservations so Lilette was not crowded. Restaurant was quaint with a great vibe, delicious appetizer & entrees as well as outstanding service! Got to put this one on the list for NOLA!!!"

  • "Our party of 4 arrived a couple minutes early for an 8:30pm reservation. There was an empty 4 top in front. Hostess told us table not ready and suggested we go to bar next door. I told her that we just came from next door, had a reservation, and pointed out the empty 4 top. She said there was a party of two waiting for a "long time" and again recommended that we go back next door. We went next door, ordered a round of drinks and two appetizers. It was late; we were hungry. 20 min later the hostess came back to say a table was ready. We were not finished appetizer; she promised to hold the table. We rushed through and went back to restaurant. SHE HAD NOT HELD THE TABLE! We were finally seated for a very mediocre meal at 9:15pm. :-("

  • "Lilette is a small, attractive, neighborhood restaurant serving fine, imaginative cuisine. Wine prices are exaggerated to the point of inducing peevishness. While the menu offerings are limited, the quality of dishes and presentation were high. However, the noise level from other patrons approached the point of disabling normal conversation."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and made chef's suggestions. Food was outstanding - compliments to the chefs."

  • "Good food, wish I would have been more adventurous with what I ordered but played it safe bc of cost and I was starving. Husband's meal sounded simple but it was fabulous."

  • "Lilette is certainly not five-star dining, but I have never felt so unimportant as a customer ever. We had no trouble getting a table, but the server just couldn't be bothered to actually treat us like we mattered to her or the restaurant. The food was good, but not stellar. For the price, it was about right. But the server just continued to underwhelm for the entire evening, all 40 minutes of it because our server kept making us feel like she needed to get out of there even though she had other tables and the restaurant wasn't full. Sorry Lilette - get some servers with pleasant personalities and who smile and who care about the guests - perhaps other guests will choose to stay. As for us, well... we won't be back."

  • "Wow this was my second time here. The first time we were also blown away. Started with some homemade broth-Then the crab legs with passionfrut butter was to die for. Then we had sizzling shrimp again to die for. I then had the barramundi fish gluten and dairy free. I couldn't stop thinking about it & wanted it the next day. Friend had hanger steak which was cooked to perfection. This place is mind blowing as far as creativity with flavor. The Chef deserves major recognition and so does the hostess and waitstaff."

  • "Food was phenomenal. Great service. We had a tight timeline and they accommodated us nicely while still not feeling rushed. All the Food was delicate and well balanced. Don't miss this NOLA gem!"

  • "My husband and I ate here 2 nights ago. They were very accommodating when we asked to be moved so we could sit next to each other at a bigger table and service was great. The food however was mediocre at best, except the soups! Soup was superb. The spirit drinks were terrible. My husband and i shared the kale salad and it wasnt good at all. My husband sent his back. Entrees were by far the worst things we ordered with my husband choosing squab and my choice was the sea bass. Squab was mushy and sea bass was uber salty. My husbands couscous was good though. Prices were over the top for such an experience. Our friends (dined separately same night) didn't even eat his duck breastfeeding bc it was so chewy. Don't recommend this place at all."

  • "I've been to Lilette before both of lunch and dinner and have recommended it to friends....I like to take my out-of-town guests there for a change of pace from typical NOLA food. My only disappointment was the veal cheeks were not on the menu! A delicious dish that is not only enjoyable, but also a conversation piece for food lovers."

  • "My daughter, two young grand daughters and I had an excellent lunch. The food was uniformly well cooked and presented and the kind and efficient service was outstanding. We will happily return often. Thank you. "

  • "A+ All the way around. Waitstaff was very kind and attentive. Food was superb! Started with the Breaded & Fried Sardines, and for my entrée I had the Sautéed Branzino, best sea bass dish I've had. Highly recommend you try it. "

  • "We love Lilette! It's one of our favorite restaurants in NO. We always eat there whenever we go to NO. The black drum is outstanding! Of course all of the food is outstanding and as good as any in NO"

  • "Disappointed. Spent 250.00 on dinner and had to ask five times for a piece of bread. It was a slow night so service should have been top notch, but it wasn't. Food was above average. With better service this would be 4 stars. "

  • "I ate here twice in 2006 while working in NOLA and fell in love with it and specifically their Crab legs with Passionfruit butter. Almost 8 years later they were just as good and still one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. I had also loved their coconut sorbet and they happened to have a coconut lime on the menu this time that was also to die for. We also had an escarole salad with pistachio pesto that was divine. I love the flavors here and will go back everytime I am in NOLA. It's not a flashy place more simple and upscale. It's a must for a NOLA visit! "

  • "Dining alone, I tried several appetizers and salad to be able to sample more of the menu. Some dishes were great- the Kale/Fennel salad was great, the short ribs were my favorite. Some dishes were really good- the sizzling shrimp, I wasn't a big fan of the truffle Parmesan toast. It was a little too heavy. But, still pretty good. Great house cocktails, enjoyed the Ernest the Aviator Overall, this is a very good restaurant with some really great dishes. "

  • "Dined outside on the raised porch and it was wonderful ambiance. Service was great. The best hangar steak in town. The frites were great. The sizzling shrimp appetizer is always superb. The raw fish plate is always goo. "

  • "My husband & I went to Lilette's to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were hoping for a romantic setting with an out of the way table. The restaurant had only a few tables filled when we arrived, but quickly became full & a bit noisy. I don't think it's possible to have an out of the way table due to the layout (one big open room). We had great service & everything we ordered was outstanding. I would definitely eat there again...I just wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner."

  • "Here all week for our anniversary. Had asked several locals for restaurant suggestions. Lilette is hands down the best of everything we've tried. A little out of the way, but well worth the trip. The mussels and escargot were both perfectly cooked, not overdone and chewy like happens so often. I had the special tuna, cooked rare, and served on a broccoli puree with green peas. My husband had the hangar steak, cooked medium rare with fries. Both dishes were fabulous. We had cocktails opposed to wine as the wine prices were, well, pricey. But, the list was very good, and the friendly table next to us shared a glass with me. How cool is that? We will definitely go back when we make it back to NOLA!"

  • "Lilette was recommended and we went for lunch. Every thing was good, but nothing was outstanding. Service was fine, but we were at the end of lunch service, so not always prompt."

  • "Food was wonderful. Light and fresh. Two in party had soup and salads that were delicious. One had the beef cheeks that were a little rich with the cream sauce but still good. One had gnocchi that was also delicious. The deserts are fabulous Service was excellent. We sat on the patio which was quiet and sheltered. "

  • "The menu is beyond par. Ambiance and environment are lovely. Expect a little extra time to get your entree even though salads and apps are quick out of the gate. Space is at a premium so don't expect a lot of privacy."

  • "We read fantastic reviews of Lilette and were disappointed in the menu favoring ingredients from Hawaii and the northwest rather than focusing on the amazing local fish, meats and produce. Our good was not bad, but it wasn't nearly as tasty as many other New Orleans restaurants. Our server bordered on rude. He didn't have the warm, hospitable manner we have come to expect in New Orleans. Overall, Lilette boasted nothing special worth returning for when in a city surrounded by amazing food and service. "

  • "Lilette was very good, as usual and expected. Most of my visits have been evening. This latest was a late lunch with guests. Food was good, service was excellent, unlike evenings, the noise level at a late lunch was nicely quiet. Overall, I would place them among the top ten places to eat in the city."
