A word from Lil' Frankie's
Italy's neighorhood pizzeria's are known as really casual places to hang out, meet friends, eat, drink and talk. Lil' Frankie's is just that. We offer real Neapolitan pizza, made exactly as it's made in Naples, fresh handmade pastas cooked to order, a wine and grappa list that rivals any in the city, and friendly (never pushy) service - all in a setting designed to make you feel at home.

Our brick, wood burning, oven was handcrafted by a 3rd generation Neapolitan oven builder, brick by brick. It features real lava from Vesuvio and through a unique double dome design, recycles heat to reach near 900 degrees.

Diner Reviews
  • "I was disappointed in everything. will not go back. very pricey for what it is"

  • "We've been to Lil Frankies twice with our daughter. Each time the food has been great & the staff so peasant & efficient. It's tiny on the outside - be careful not to walk past - & big on comfort, food quality & charm."

  • "We had a group of 11 people and thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Lil Frankies. The food was great -- the waitress was excellent, the host had us waiting outside for 20 minutes beyond our reservation time, forgetting to alert us that the table was ready. That part wasn't so great, but everything else was. Have been here before and will definitely be back. YUM!"

  • "Had a 7:15 reservation on a Thursdays. Was not busy at all. Hostess was not at front of restaurant, when we asked a server where she was they replied she was "sitting somewhere" and acted like I was bothering them. When she finally came to the front she was pretty rude and sat us at the closest table for two when the restaurant was empty. Pizza was sub-par compared to what ive had there before but the burrata was amazing. They could barely fit the pizza on our table with our beers, very unclear. Waitress and server were alright. "

  • "Hands down, my favorite place in NYC, for any meal. Honestly. Brunch is incredible and super reasonably priced. Dinner is beyond amazing, always, and you can not get a more authentic ambiance anywhere. I have been coming here for years, and any time I have people visiting from out of town, I make sure to get them at least one meal from here. "

  • "This was a third experience dining here. We enjoyed the food the first time but this time the food was ok and the overall experience was shocking. The tables are definitely way too close together but even worse we were seated next to an extremely large table of loud and drunk patrons. The restaurant should prepare for the worst with groups of that size and seat them appropriately. They could have had a section to themselves but instead there were many tables set alongside within drink spillage distance! The restaurant was packed and moving table was a limited option. Whilst we were not charged for our drinks, it didn't help the outcome. We took friends visiting from Australia and came away embarrassed. Not a good outcome! We won't be back!"

  • "Gd place but portions a bit small and took forever to get drinks"

  • "Our party of 5 was seated at a table that, honestly, could barely seat 4. The person stuck on the end was invaded by the crowd at the back bar. Elbows and butts in the head and back; truly irritating. The food was above average, but reminiscent of generic Italian food, nothing special. Nice to have $25 pitchers of drinkable beer. We did have an outstanding waiter."

  • "Total cluster waiting in a queue that went out the door for our table. We were not the only Open Table diners. Place is tight space to begin with, then add a disorganized line blocking the entrance to it. We were seated but not w/o waiting longer than expected and dealing with an overly crowded front of the house. "

  • "i have never had a bad dining experience here, the food is always fresh and delicious and the staff are super knowledgeable about the wine list (or shall i say "wine book"). Also, open late!!"

  • "My wife and our friends were in NYC for a week and heard that Lil' Frankie's was a "must-visit" spot. We booked a table for 4 through OpenTable (yeah, I know this is an OpenTable review, but just thought I'd emphasize how we reserved the table), and arrived about 10 minutes late. It wasn't a problem at all, and we were seated immediately. The table space wasn't huge, we also didn't go there to stretch out (well, perhaps our bellies). We ordered a variety of foods (pasta and pizza). From what was left (or not left), I can say we all enjoyed our selections (sorry I can't recall what all was had). We left there feeling very satisfied, and I would definitely go back again to try out their pasta dishes."

  • "I felt like I was in my grandmother's home. The portions were generous; food delicious; and carbs abundant. I recommend the baked meatball and eggs dish for brunch. Great 3-for-1 drinks deal for Saturday brunch. Service left something to be desired. They were friendly but it seemed like we'd been forgotten several times. Still, the amount and quality of the food for the price made it worth it. Also, the setting and home-style decor. I will be back. "

  • "Went on Friday night with a group of 8 and a reservation. Seated immediately, hostess was super nice, food was excellent particularly the specials. The pizza is amazing, as are the salads and burrata. Our server was great, and was working quite a few tables. Its quite loud and the tables are packed in, but only adds to the atmosphere..."

  • "Our waitress, Marcella, was really sweet and attentive. She even stood on a chair to take a picture of our group! She gets five stars just for that! The lower service rating is for the front bar and the hostess; my group and I were ignored when we walked in and again when we were brusquely directed to the bar to wait for the rest of our party. I felt like I was annoying the bartenders by asking them to bartend! (The place was nearly dead empty, even in the back rooms, so it couldn't be attributed the distraction of other customers.) It was a bit off-putting, especially because we were there to celebrate a birthday. But the food is SO GOOD. Don't go starving because it takes quite a while, but it's worth the wait!"

  • "Best pizza this side of Italy! Wood-fired oven. Had margarita- real buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. Cheese with truffle oil. Pasta with sausage. All DELICIOUS!!! CASH ONLY! Reservations a must- and they dont seat till the entire party is present and will not hold table more than 15 minutes- so dont be late. Picnic style table are great for larger groups. Server had no personality, but food was so good it didnt matter!"

  • "It's a very crowded restaurant with nowhere to wait, but the staff was nice enough to look the other way when a very late member of our party finally appeared (another issue, of course). Most of the food was good but the pizza with sausage was much too salty."

  • "Lil Frankies is a group favorite and we have all been many times. That said, the SAME THING happens every time. We have a reservation, and it is NEVER honored. We get there on time if not early (this time I was actually told by the hostess to come early via text message because our table would be ready) and we didn't get seated until 45 minutes after our reservation, 10:15pm at night. Way too late!! We had the same exact issue for my husbands 30th bday that had been planned for months. While I understand you can't control the group before whose at your table, it would have been nice of them to at least acknowledge the fact that we didn't sit on time and at least give us a free round of drinks or dessert. Our waiter was great, JR."

  • "This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant in the city so we decided to have a low key dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. Came in at 6PM to beat the rush since it's always packed and we had a great time. He had the special pasta of the day, which was a duck ravioli and he couldn't stop raving about it the whole night. I had the pizza of the day that had provolone cheese and sweet caramelized onions, amazing!! Overall, this might not be the most romantic spot but if you're with the right company you'll have an amazing time."

  • "Went here for brunch with 4 other friends. PROS: You can ask for stuff outside the usual brunch menu. I got one of their best selling pizzas and asked for two eggs baked on top - it was delish! CONS: You can't easily find the entrance because they have two doors. Not suitable for groups as the place is too cramped. Also, make sure everyone in your party is on time so you can get seated right away. Otherwise you wait by the bar."

  • "I dined at Frankie's with a friend and have been several times before. The noise level is always unknown given where you sit. But the food is always great. I'd definitely recommend it for Italian food. Cash only though."

  • "Ask not to sit in the side room. On a Saturday night it gets INCREDIBLY loud in that tight space. Literally have never been to a louder restaurant. Food made up for poor ambience though, it was absolutely delicious."

  • "We didn't have to wait long for the food, even though the place was packed. Decently priced wine bottles a plus. Wide menu selection; I'd like to go back and try the pasta."
