Diner Reviews
  • "The food and service were great, we will be back!!!"

  • "So far, this restaurant has been consistently very good. Original menu, nicely presented. A little on the pricey side especially for the Leesburg area."

  • "Thisa is, by far, the best place for eating in the downtown Leesburg area. There aren't a huge # of menu choices, but each of the items were top notch. Prices for food were reasonable($22-29 mostly) and the cocktails from the bar were also reasonably priced ($7-10). They have an extensive wine list, but their wine prices seemed a bit steep compared to the food selections, so I took a pass on vino. Service was excellent. Food service was prompt. This is the second year in a row I have had my anniversary diner at Lightfoot, and there is a good chance I'll go back again next year."

  • "Food was incredible and the service was immaculate. We will definitly be coming back! Not so much though for having a romantic evening, not private or quiet."

  • "Was there with friends to celebrate a birthday. We had a fabulous evening. Food, atmosphere, and servers-it was all great. We're from out of town and plan to return ! Highly recommend it!"

  • "Dined with a business contact at Lightfoot, and had the Arizona club sandwich with zucchini fries. I really enjoyed this sandwich. My friend had the swordfish club, and she said it was very good as well. I will return to this establishment, and I can recommend this to you when you are in the Leesburg area. Service was very good also!"

  • "Lovely old building, wait staff were pleasant, but not particularly attentive. Food was basic, nothing unique , the filet had little seasoning and was rather bland. However, the delay between ordering and delivery was perhaps the most noticeable down side to the experience. It seemed either the wait staff was over extended or the kitchen was short. The most obvious example was our more than 10 minute wait for a slice of cheesecake. I am not sure that I would return and if I did it would not be for the food."

  • "My son is autistic and has Ausburger's syndrome, so eating out can be a challenge, specially since his older brother and I are foodies and his mother is quasi vegetarian. This is a gem."

  • "My husband and I visit Leesburg for their good restaurants and Lightfoot has never disappointed us. The food and service were wonderful. Cannot wait to visit Leesburg again."

  • "While food at Lightfoot is always ok, it's never excellent. I'm also always surprised at how expensive it is compared to other fine dining establishments in the area. We try it from time to time to see if anything has changed but so far, it's just medicore."

  • "The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had! The chunks of lobster were so large that I had to cut the pieces of lobster with a fork and knife. The crab bisque was equally as excellent. Great shrimp and grits!"

  • "Although this was my first visit it will not be my last. Pace yourself because everything from the appetizers to the dessert was delicious. Highly recommend lobster bisque (the most lobster I've EVER had), onion soup (to die for), sirloin steak topped w/blue cheese bacon must I go on? Desserts have to be made in house."

  • "As a first-time diner at the Lightfoot, I was pleased with the overall experience. As our reservation was early afternoon (2:30pm), the restaurant was not crowded. Our waiter, while pleasant, lacked observation skills. We had to request things twice because he forgot. I believe that part of a dining experience should include EXCELLENT customer service; this brings people back to the establishment. I will give the server the benefit of the doubt and will re-visit the restaurant when the weather is consistently warm. Looking forward to dining at Lightfoot in the near future."

  • "As long as you're not going in looking for value, you won't be disappointed. The menu is creative, and good. The ambience is pleasant and unique. Service is very good. The prices are high, and while there a nice wine selection, very little is available by the glass (I noticed one offering per varietal available by the glass). Still and all, Lightfoot is definitely something to have on your radar from time to time."

  • "Thank you Light Foot for a wonderful dinner. We were celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary and wanted a special place to go. The food was excellent as well as the atmosphere. I was a bit worried when they sat us down, because the table next to us had 3 people and the man at the table was using very vulgar language. Very happy when I noticed they were getting ready to leave. Otherwise I would have asked to move and I loved where we sat...in the front room right by the window."

  • "My friends and I love the Lightfoot and go there many times a year for lunch. It wasn't the wonderful experience we usually have when dining at the LF. First, our server wasn't very pleasant. The service was fine but he seemed to be annoyed with us anytime we would ask a question. I usually get the Po Boy Oyster Salad that I love, but it wasn't very good this time. The oysters were over breaded and seemed as if they had been cooked ahead of time. My friend had the crab cake and said it was too and filled with too much bread. My other two friends had the Salmon salad special and didn't really make any comments. Even though we were not so happy this time we will go back, because we have been going to the LF for years and it is usually great."

  • "We dined at Lightfoot on a Saturday night, celebrating our anniversary. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We were right next to the piano player, just a little too loud, but no big complaint about that, he played nicely. While we were nicely dressed, we were surprised at how many people weren't and also the amount of walk-in business on a Saturday night. The food was fine, but not fabulous. The vegetables were especially well-prepared, and I appreciated that. The service was only so-so. Our questions about the menu were answered only with a repetition of what was printed on the menu. While ordering wine, the waiter seemed more interested in the table next to us. So all in all, nice, but not fabulous."

  • "Long time to be seated even though we had the reservation. Service was very slow, waiter was not friendly. Food was good, portions not large. Would maybe go back, not on Saturday night"

  • "I love the interior of the restaurant, but hadn't been back for years because of the quality of the food. The appetizers were relatively good - the tomato soup was excellent, but the wild mushroom strudel lacked finesse. The deserts were quite tasty - crème brulee and white chocolate cheesecake. But the entrees - both menu specials - were more than disappointing. A steak and (crab) cake came in at $39.50, overpriced by a good $10.00, and tasted flat, lacking proper seasoning. The blackened snapper was dry, completely lacked seasoning (hard to do with a blackened fish), and sat atop a pool of poorly sautéed vegetables, none of which belonged with the fish. It was priced at $32.50, again $10 overpriced. A $240.00 meal, poorly done."

  • "Highly recommend this place... I took my girlfriend there for valentines day and she is a picky eater. I looked at the menu before hand to make sure there were some options for her. She loved the her order. She was happy, I was happy!"

  • "I've been to Lightfoot twice and love the atmosphere. The food is excellent- the best crab cake I've ever had! I prefer the dinner menu to the lunch menu. I wish I'd gotten one of the daily specials instead of ordering off the basic menu for lunch. The clam chowder is also excellent."

  • "We heard a lot of good things about Lightfoot Restaurant in historical Leesburg - so off we went. We were impressed by the beautiful decor ... rich wood crown moldings, tin-pressed ceilings, a sweeping staircase to the second floor, intimate lighting ... an over-sized fire place across from a full bar. We were seated at a comfortable table by a very friendly and attentive server. The menu offers a nice variety of dishes at reasonable prices and their wine list is impressive. The food? Unbelievable! Incredible ... we've been back several times and have never been disappointed. Whenever we have guests staying with us ... we take them to Lightfoot and it's ALWAYS a hit! Go ... Taste ... Enjoy."

  • "This was our third annual meeting for dinner with 2 other couples at Lightfoot and the food and service have been outstanding every time. Lightfoot consistently provides a great experience with high quality food and exceptional service."

  • "Food was outstanding, but the item on the menu two of us chose was not available. After taking our orders, the waitress came back to our table and said they could only serve one person for the selected item. We then decided who would get the single helping; however, a few minutes later the waitress returned again and said the chosen item wasn't available at all. My second choice was good, but disappointed that the first choice wasn't available--the item should have been removed from the menu before we received it."

  • "The pork shank was to die for. I have never had tomato soup like that before. The soup was the best. The restaurant was a old bank, but do not let that fool you it is very nice spot. The fire place was very romantic. The shrimp and lobster pasta was wonderful."

  • "My Maryland friends like to meet our Virginia friends at the Lightfoot. We have always enjoyed each and every morsel and looked forward to our next visit. This past Thursday was a disappointment and a surprise. One of us got the pea soup and fried green tomatoes and while neither was served hot, both were very good. The waiter did reheat her remaining soup. Two of us had the leek and mushroom quiche special. It, and the roasted asparagus, were lackluster and also only barely warm. Even the three hot teas were not hot. The waiter added hot water, to no avail really. If this had been our first visit, I would not go back, but the previous experiences were so positive, we will try it one more time."

  • "I have been a off and on customer and if the restaurant were closer to me, I'd be a regular. The food was hot and tasty, service was great and timely. The big extra, some restaurants only serve what's on the dish, don't be afraid to ask for modifications or special changes. solid delivery with a great staff and atmosphere. We sat near the fireplace on a cold winter day and it was lovely."

  • "This was my second time dining at Lightfoot Restaurant. First time was a party in a private room which was an excellent evening and afforded me an opportunity to check out this unique venue. When looking for a more romantic early supper dining experience in Leesburg, Lightfoot Restaurant was the first place that came to mind. I wasn't disappointed. The menu is superb. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. The ambience was tasteful. To quote Arnold: I'll be back!!!f"

  • "Recently moved to Haymarket, and are slowly trying out the local restaurants. This place is right at the top of our list so far. Great menu, great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. The crab cake was sensational. Only downside, was that the two of us were seated just inside the front door, behind the hostess station. A little chilly, that close to the door, and quite a bit of traffic while dining. Overall, a great spot and we are looking forward to going back. The tables close the the fireplace look very nice."

  • "I like the restaurant but we probably will not be coming back for a good while. This is a very expensive restaurant, especially the alcohol prices. I think we paid $12 for a cocktail. And the wine list is not very good. We paid $80 for a bottle of wine that was not very good at all. So, on the expensive front, I'd rate this restaurant low. But the food and service were very good."

  • "Too much for ribeye and sweet potatoes fries.. It was good but I can go to Texas Roadhouse for a better steak and crisper fries for half the price. Bill was 105$ with two entres no appetizer and one beer.. And it was canned guiness at that. Good food but not worthy of upscale restaurant prices."

  • "Came here for our anniversary. Mushroom strudel app was amazing, roasted duck breast was moist and tasty, desserts were out of this world, and service was very professional and prompt. The only reason they received 4 stars instead of 5 is because my partner ordered the salmon, but the server thought the said "the same" so they brought him out duck. He had considered ordering the duck, so decided just to eat what they had brought out . Normally in those situations in a nice restaurant, even though we didn't really complain, they would have comped dessert at least, but no such offer was received. If it had been, they would have gotten the full 5 stars."

  • "Lightfoot was well worth the 1-hour drive to get there. From appetizer to dessert, the food was absolutely wonderful -- deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. Service was prompt without hovering. We were ahead of the crowd and landed a table in the corner next to the fireplace -- perfect! We will go back."

  • "Lightfoot is a very beautiful restaurant in a historic bank building, across from the Leesburg court house and in the middle of the historic downtown. Many times we have really great food here. But, the food is not consistently good and you never know what to expect. This isn't great when you've got guests. And, it's not what you expect at a finer restaurant. The salad was good, but the "special" 3 of us ordered - a small beef filet and crab cake - wasn't up to par. The filet was tasteless and very chewy (medium rare). Not a good steak by any measure. Crab cake was good. I urge this restaurant to pay more attention to every menu item, especially "specials, " thus making sure all items live up the quality expected at a top restaurant."
