FantasticThe best dining experience we've had in quite a while. Great menu, attentive service, and a beautiful setting. I look forward to returning again and again.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLightfoot Never DisappointsHave always loved dining at Lightfoot for lunch or dinner... all thru the seasons since my first experience in 2000 up to my most recent visit in May 2013. The food is always consistently excellent as well as beautifully presented ... excellent food quality as well... always fresh and delicious. Don't pass up on dessert either!!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for special occasions...We went on a Mother's Day... and they had a fixed menu (which we were made aware of prior)... it was a nice experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experienceWe love Lightfoot for adult dining. It's not a great place for young kids, but it's really nice for adults. We had a wonderful, pre-Mother's Day lunch!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Atmosphere & great foodWe have dined at Lightfoot for lunch and dinner and both occasions have been GREAT! We loved the decor of the restaurant and the food is not only delicious but unique! It is one of our all time favorites!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food experienceWe enjoyed an exceptional selection of choices. My partner relished the squash bisque and I savored the crab bisque; both were healthy portions served in uniquely designed bowls contributing to an attractive dining experience. My Parisian Salmon was outstanding; the seasoning on the salmon burst fresh flavors into a traditional fish dish.
The atmosphere was slightly disconcerting. The tables for two people were very close together and took away from any romantic or merely private conversations. Also there was a table full of tipsy drinkers nearby whose laughter and cackling invaded the whole room. My partner and I were relieved when they left so we could converse without having to raise our voices and disturb the other couples next to us.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFacility was cool. Food was great!I took my wife to Lightfoot for our 6th anniversary. We were both very pleased. The building is really cool. Apparently it was once a bank and was remodeled into this restaurant. The decor included vault doors (I assume it was genuine), fancy stairway, a piano and more. It was really neat.
The food was awesome. Presentation on the plate was attractive and the portion size was large. Food was a tad expensive, but not shockingly so. We spent $150 for the two of us including appetizers, salad/soup, main course, a couple drinks each and dessert.
Service was very professional and polite. We were one of the last reservations and felt no rush from the staff and I didn't notice anyone "closing up shop" as we finished our meals.
I will return!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantAlways great food and service. Best restaurant in Leesburg.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMa wonderful place to spenda wonderful place to spend an afternoon with good friends and family. Very elegant.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GreatHaving been to the Lightfoot about a half dozen times in the past 15 years, it's definitely a "Special Occasion" type of place, and it continues to live up to its reputation. I went there on a Tuesday evening with my wife to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, and it was well worth coming back. It was particularly nice to be seated in a secluded corner of the restaurant on a quiet Tuesday so that we did not have overlapping conversations with our neighbors. The menu is somewhat limited, but that is often not a bad idea, as it emphasizes quality choices. I'll certainly be back for another special occasion!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite restaurant inOur favorite restaurant in Leesburg! Lightfoot's always comes through with delicious food and attentive service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! My fiance and I came to Lightfoot in our hunt to find a rehearsal dinner location. I was so pleased to see the wonderful space for groups or all sizes (check out the upstairs) and the great variety of food that could accommodate even the pickiest of eaters.
The staff was friendly and knowledgable.
I look forward to exploring the option to have our rehearsal dinner here more and hope to try more dishes. (The peking duck quesadilla will be hard to top, though!)4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great for myEverything was great for my senior prom dinner with my friends, except for when the fire alarm went off...my friends and I were enjoying dessert and we were not panicked when the alarm went off, just lost. None of the waiters said anything to let the customers know that everything was okay!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMe and my fiance came to eatMe and my fiance came to eat for a date. It was an amazingly historic building and maintained very well. I would deff recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates a nice atmosphere and service. Had an amazing time at lightfoot.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife, daughter, and I attendMy wife, daughter, and I attend the Leesburg Flower and Garden Show culminating with dinner at the Lightfoot. This year we enjoyed a great dinner. Special KUDOS to server, Erica F, who helped make my wife's birthday a more special occasion for her. We are looking forward to next year.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was very good.Everything was very good. Only one little point regarding the flank steak salad. The flank steak was a little overdone and therefore tougher then it should have been, but the rest of the preparation was outstanding. All the other meals were excellent. A real gem and we will return.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHaving dined at LightfootHaving dined at Lightfoot several times in the past, we already expected a great evening. This past Saturday we took friends with us who appreciate good food and a pleasant venue. Lightfoot provided both. Our menu choices were prepared to perfection and were absolutely delicious. An important contributor to any dining experience is the wait staff. Ours was terrific. Phillip was friendly, efficient and attentive to the details of our party. When our friends asked for black napkins, rather than the white ones provided, Phillip was quick to oblige. Of course, the food was over the top delicious --that goes without saying. Thanks Lightfoot - we will all be back soon. Whether lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with Lightfoot.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experience!I had been to Lightfoot years ago for lunch and had a very pleasant experience but really wanted to go back for dinner. We decided to go for my husband's birthday and were NOT disapointed! Everything we had was delicious: the crab bisque, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits and eggplant parmesan were all delicious...but the french onion and wild mushroom soup was hands down the best soup either of us have ever tasted. We are ruined and will never be able to order it anywhere else--so good! There were lots of items on the menu that jumped out of us including several of their salads. We can't wait to go back SOON for lunch to order another crock of that delicious soup and the mixed berry salad (which we didn't have but sounded wonderful)!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleasantly surprisedWe were pleasantly surprised when we walked up to the restaurant. When we entered and viewed the high ceiling, wonderful woodwork and the preservation effort that went into converting from the Peoples National Bank (1888) to a wonderful restaurant, we were all impressed.
The food was very good - the wait staff was informative and attentive.
We look forward to many more meals at this restaurant.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly negative comment wouldOnly negative comment would be that when we ordered a second bottle of wine, the wine was not offered for a tasting and poured right into our glass with the first bottle. Food excellent and otherwise superb service.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service!Outstanding food and service! Seated in bar area which was a little noisy. Celebrating spouse's birthday, should have requested a quieter seating area.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food as always was excellent. The food as always was excellent. I had the rockfish, crab special. My wife had the pork shank. The portions were generous and very tasty. It is one of our favorite places. We did go on a Friday night so it was more noisy than usual, but the fact that the restaurant was packed is a testament to the quality.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe setting and ambience wereThe setting and ambience were terrific, exactly wjat we expected. The service was fast, friendly, and professional. We had a small meal but the food was well prepared and tasty. Definitely recommend Lightfoot for everyone visiting Leesburg.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was an excellent experience. This was an excellent experience. The cocktails were generous and skillfully prepared. Each course was better and better. The potato soup and steak and cake were exceptional, can't remember having a filet as tender and juicy. The staff was courteous, attentive and helpful even after a busy Easter Sunday schedulee. My only regret was I didn't have room for dessert. Looking forward to a return visit.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a nice time! We'llWe had a nice time! We'll be back. Everyone was very nice.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday Night Just RightHave been here before and sat outside and at the upstairs bar. This time we sat at a nice table for two in the main room. The service was great and menu had many options including fine dining and moderately priced choices. We began with the mussels and she chose salmon salad and I had the haddock dinner. Fish was cooked perfectly. Wine list is good too. Can't wait to go back!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Leesburg GemWe were looking for something new in the Leesburg area and were not disappointed. The restaurant is in a converted historic bank and retains a lot of the old town flavor. The staff was very attentive and service was top notch as was the food. I had the pork shank, which was extremely tender but a little bland. It could have used a sauce or something else to add flavor to it. My wife had the shrimp and grits. The dish was moderately spicy and was very delicious. For dessert we had the mixed berry cobbler and it was very good. The meal was a little pricy, but it was well worth the money.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNever had bad service hereNever had bad service here or a bad meal! Lightfoot in my opinion is one of the best finds in the DC/Northern Va area in terms of fantastic restaurants!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLightfoot has been a stapleLightfoot has been a staple in the Leesburg area for years, the food is amazing, the staff is very knowledgeable and the interior is amazing. Can't go wrong with anything you order, every visit is wonderful!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experience.Wonderful dining experience. Is in a historic bank building and kept many of the old fixtures (e.g. vault doors) is a nice touch. Excellent food. All dishes were very good and well presented.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Old, Ideal Celebration Stand-ByAs great as usual - no disappointments. My wife and I have celebrated 3 anniversaries there while dating; were married there; and this past weekend celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with my parents. I think that speaks for itself. The missing 5th star in some categories is just because I'm not sure it's the best food I've ever eaten or a scene that blows me away compared with the top few, most expensive restaurants in New York City, Washington, DC or some other large city; and a lot of the menu items are too gourmet and contain things I don't like. But Lightfoot is clearly one of Loudoun County's best establishments and the best within a 15 minute drive from home.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial town - special place to eatI have been lucky to travel and eat many wonderful places around the US. Lightfoot Restaurant and Leesburg, Va. are one of the best places I have EVER eaten and one of the best little towns for shopping, history and FOOD! Lightfoot Restaurant is simply a wonderful place to spend an evening - whether you are alone on business or with someone you want to spend some special time.
Call...Make a reservation...order whatever they suggest and then sit back and relax - your life is about to get a little bit better.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI had dinner with good friendsI had dinner with good friends (4 total). We each had something different so we could sample various dishes. The atomsphere was great, restaurant decor was nice and we had an overall very nice time. The best dish was the lobster/shrimp & pasta, next was the jumbo crab dish, then the haddock, and the least favorite was the grouper with crab on top. The grouper was way to fishy and the meal was only half consumed. We had the calamarie appetizer along with the sea scallops and the calamorie wad the best, sea scallops were to large and it affected the cooking of the scallop.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a very good experience.Overall a very good experience. They put my husband and I at a table for two next to the "fireplace." Despite the noise in the background, it made for a romantic evening. Food was well prepared, my husband had the lamb t-bone special and I had the tacos. We don't drink alcohol and left very pleased with the service.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Successful NightThis is the fourth business dinner I have had at Lightfoot and once again they did not let me and my guest down. Service was great and the food was excellent. I order Lamb Chops and they were cooked just right!! This is why I keep coming back, because I can depend upon excellent menus and service that are equally paired!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
