  • "The food and dining experience was the best I had experienced in a long time. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Our waitress was very inattentive - the food was definitely a disappointment - we have loved our previous visits to the Lift when we go to Vancouver."

  • "Took a friend for a birthday dinner, and the evening couldn't have been better. Beautiful view, delicious meals, impeccable service. We will be back. A special thanks to our server, Marcio, who made the evening super special. Ask for him!"

  • "To be fair, the food was good. But not great. You pay for the view/location/setting. We took out of town visitors there to see the boats, the harbour, the mountains. We loved the view. But we found the food nothing to rush back for."

  • "Lift Bar & Grill is located on the edge of the water and Stanley Park. Service was great. Valet made the entry point easy. Food tasty! Will be a retest customer."

  • "I have been to life a couple of times now for brunch and I never leave hungry or disappointed. The food is of great quality and is cooked perfectly every time (the poached eggs are perfectly runny every time). The service is prompt and never will your coffee or water run dry. If all of that wasn't enough to get you to go to Lift then perhaps the spectacular waterfront views will be. I will be back again and again!"

  • "Exceptional service, outstanding food and to top it all off the view is stunning. We sat on the top floor patio overlooking the harbour, the weather was perfect. Don't go if you want a quick meal this is the place to take a break and just enjoy a lovely meal in a beautiful setting."

  • "First time at Lift, didn't disappoint, but didn't impress, tho there's a cool factor here. Seated at a smallish table for 2 on the narrow patio over the water. Our server was quite good and interesting with menu and small talk. Appies: meatballs-nothing special, tomato and burrata - nice plating but not California heirlooms. Entrees: grilled trout & Haida halibut, both nicely prepared. A pile of shoestring jicama and carrots covered the whole trout-where's the fish? With a ponzu-like flavour it overwhelmed the fish. A similar ponzu dressing was used for the bed of salad greens on which the halibut was place. Not too creative with flavours. Didn't have any of the overpriced sushi. Dessert: Lemon sablee-not enuf lemon & too much cream."

  • "Food was very good. Scenic views even better. It is an excellent for a special occasion, which this was. Service was good until we decided to not have desert and/or coffee. Then it was clear that we were not welcome and I felt pressured to pay the bill and leave. Of course, tables need to be turned over."

  • "Food and view were amazing, but server was inattentive the entire time on a not so busy night. We waited for over 10 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged, and this was only to be told by the server that he would be "right back" to take our drink orders. We ended up having to tag the manager down to get a couple of waters 5 minutes after our server told us he would be "right back". It was a scorching day on the patio, and waters should have been brought as soon as we sat down. Aside from the service issues we experienced, I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "I was recently at LIFT with 6 good friends. We were on the patio. The weather was ideal, the view was breathtaking, and the food and wine were excellent - When we left we realized we'd been there for 4 hours. I appreciate that no one rushed us out and we were able to savor every moment of the evening - with all the right ingredients in place. Thank you."

  • "Beautiful view and venue, go for drinks or appes but don't stay for the full meal deal! Had ahi tuna and halibut, fish perfectly cooked but served with frozen peas and corn! Shame on you chef! In Vancouver? In summer??? Any corner stand would sell you fresh veg!! The kale and ?fennel was so tough I couldn't cut through it...sad face! The lemon dessert was lovely, but didn't save the meal. Ps customers should be given water and offered a drink within 3-5 minutes of being seated, basic rule!"

  • "Food was average, my latte was cold when it arrived"

  • "Outstanding service, with a tremendous view of Coal Harbor. We started with crab cakes: good texture, lots of crab, minimum filler/binder & tasty sauce. The gathered greens salad was well dressed and just as yummy. Husband enjoyed the Ahi. I chickened out on the Kangaroo, and had the trout. I'm still curious about kangaroo (I love boar, venison & rabbit. Oh well!), but was more than happy with trout. We had no room for desert, but walked home very happy. We'll be back!"

  • "Another great evening at the Lift... first time on the new roof patio overlooking Cole Harbour. A warm night, beautiful sunset and an amazing staff...............our quests were wowed Try the Sangria and the short rib !"

  • "Overall, I would recommend this restaurant despite the tablet-style menu and the spicy trout we unfortunately ordered. The sea bass was very good as were the salads. The creme brulees were great and the wine list was extensive so our dinner was generally agreeable."

  • "Not a bad restaurant but the noise level was so loud and annoying it ruined the whole lunch. Even the lady I was with commented on how annoying it was. I asked the waitress to turn it down just a bit but if she did it was non-perceptible. It ruined the whole lunch. I get that they play music to make it sound like a busy place but they might get more people there and actually make it a busy place if it wasn't so noisy."

  • "Finest food, great service, with a million dollar view. Imagine peak of summer in Vancouver, your literally water side, single rowers slicing through the glass like water, sail boats, and the ever present north shore mountains framing the skyline. a better setting is not possible. Young waiter from Ireland provided great service, food was exquisite, the freshest."

  • "Went for lunch the first time and had a delicious salad and a glass of wine. This time we went for dinner and found comparable prices to something like Hawksworth but food equivalent to the average chain. The burrata to start was so tiny compared to the heaps of unripe tomatoes it was served with. The mains - shared a salad overwhelmed with Dijon in a balsamic topping bland greens, and a decent-but-not-worth-thirty-dollars mushroom ravioli. The ravioli came with a huge plate of assorted veggies but there was no theme, just a bunch of stuff on a plate. To boot, the service was slow and inattentive."

  • "Lift offers a superb and unique setting on Coal Harbour with many tables outside over the water. You pay for this however with an over priced menu. Not to say that the food is poor, but the entres do not live up to the $30 price tag. The menu is heavily weighted towards seafood, which is entirely appropriate to the setting. My choice was the trout whose delicate taste was unfortunately smothered by a covering of spicy vegetables. The wine list features far too many BC wines and not enough wines from the quality wine regions of the world for my taste."

  • "Food was just OK, not really acceptable in this era in this city TBH. You will definitely get a better meal, service and presentation at any Cactus Club, and for less money. But the building is beautiful and the vibe is great."

  • "Our server never came over to ask us if we wanted sparkling water or plain water. Two pairs of people sat at the bar behind us after we were seated and our waitress took their drink orders twice before I asked for her to come over. When she was taking our order she never told us about the feature and she was very unpleasant. We would have to wait 5-10 minutes anytime we needed to get her attention. She was more pleasant to then other tables she was serving. If you're coming for service, don't."

  • "My husband and I went to Lift because we wanted to eat outside, in Coal Harbour. Lift does that very well, amazing setting. But this place needs updating and a bit of elbow grease to clean it up. The food was good, no question but the whole place is pretty down market and needs a face life. The music was terrible, I think I even heard some Rod Stewart in the mix! Disappointing food and a bit run down but the view was amazing. I will have a hard recommending it."

  • "The Lift has a creative menu and is certainly a step above any other restaurants in Coal Harbour. It also has a wonderful outlook on the inner harbour. It is towards the expensive range but well worth it."

  • "Title says it all, this place has an amazing view from the rooftop patio!"

  • "We enjoyed a nice quiet evening at a table right by the water and the hostess was kind enough to open the windows for us a little bit though it was rainy. The Sushi appetizer was delicious and so were our dinner selections and the red wine. This evening experience uplifted our view of LIFT where we had previously been disappointed. Waiting services could still be improved..."

  • "Nothing got taken off our bill after getting a beer spilled on our whole table and my leg and foot... But other than that, great."

  • "Went to Lift with two colleagues who were just off a long flight. The staff were fast and courteous, the food was very good and quick, and a couple of requests handled cheerfully. I was surprised that they were not full - perhaps the slightly obscure location, though that provided good views. I would definitely return"

  • "Sunday brunch at Lift was a mistake, rather than their usual often enjoyable seafood fare, the menu offered only a variety of eggs Benedict and salads, all of which were, at the table, perfunctory and uninspired, three "Bennys" with a dollop each of hash browns, with ketchup only, can you believe it, to the side, and a Cobb salad wherein the chicken among the greens was too dry, the service was, accordingly, indifferent, though the view of Burrard Inlet and the mountains remained, as ever, breathtaking, a 5 out of 5, not enough, however, to be back anytime soon - Richard"

  • "Sadly there is an ongoing lacklustre greeting at the Front Desk, (can't they at least seem enthusiastic about their guests arrival?) But the service staff are always a treat - pleasant, personable and efficient. The food is not bad. Seems better these last few times we have visited here. But best yet is that the where ever one sits the view is pretty hard to beat. And on top of that their is Complimentary Valet service during brunch/lunch."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The ambience and the service were great, but the food was far from what we expected... We loved the sushi that we order as appetizers but the main dishes (trout and ahi tuna) were really not worth the money we paid for, and not tasty at all. The desserts were good, though."

  • "mountains, water, rowers practicing, the luxury yachts of Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and the adjoining marinas, cormorants diving totalling sheer pleasure. The service was attentive, but not pushy or overbearing and the food did not let the experience down. we'll be back again."
