Diner Reviews
  • "Took my girlfriend here because I had been wanting to try Lidia's food since I had heard so many great reviews. It didn't disappoint. Great food, service, and ambiance. I had the wild boar and my girlfriend had the lasagna. The beet salad was delicious as was the chili pepper infused chocolate cake"

  • "I took my family to Lidia's to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. Lidia's was a perfect place to go. The service was outstanding. They even lit a candle in my mother's dessert to celebrate the occasion. The food was wonderful. My daughter is a vegan and the chef personally recommended dishes for her. My husband, mother and brother had the trio pasta special dish that offers three all-you-can eat pastas that are delivered to your table. They customized the pasta for my mother who is a vegetarian. The staff remembered on each time that they came to serve the table (offering pasta) that my mother could not eat the meat."

  • "We've been to Lidia's Pittsburgh a few times, and it has certainly become a favorite. On our last visit, we opted to bring our infant daughter, who is three months old. Happily, Lidia's was able to provide a sling for the car seat, so we didn't have to hold her the whole time we ate or try to safely balance the car seat on a booth seat. All three of us were comfortable and happy throughout the meal. On our last visit, my husband's frigo appetizer was outstanding, and large enough to be shared. Both of our entrees, the wild boar ravioli and the gnocchi in duck ragu were absolutely Heavenly. We each find ourselves addicted to one of their house-made sodas: my husband to the vanilla creme and I to the cranberry ginger."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to Lidia's while in Pittsburgh on business. I personally love Lidia and her cooking style. The restaurant met my expectations each time. Service was great, food was amazing! Thank you"

  • "Lidia's not a typical Italian restaurant with lots of red sauce! The food is fresh, delicious and "lick the plate" good. We travel 2 hours from home to go to Lidia's for just about every special occasion and anytime we are in the Pittsburgh area. I highly recommend it. The service is professional and outstanding. The cannoli's melted in your mouth!"

  • "There are better Italian restaurants that are less expensive. The pasta trio is nice, but too expensive for pasta. Service was slow and there were not a lot of people there."

  • "So happy I finally got a chance to experience this little gem of a restaurant. The food and dessert was fantastic (especially the tiramisu) and the service was very prompt! Awesome find!"

  • "Our waiter couldn't be bothered, and the fabled pasta trio was pasty, gummy, bland and lukewarm. What a shock after making a special point of dining there. A back-up server saved the day by removing the offensive food, letting me re-order, and buying us dessert--but it was a fail in multiple ways. Let the buyer beware..."

  • "Service was not good - long delays, failed delivered requests despite half empty. Food good but not great. This is a safe destination but not a "destination". Valet was good though!"

  • "Brought relatives from Cleveland to the Sunday brunch, and they asked the manager to contact Lidia to see if she would open a restaurant there, that's how much they enjoyed the food and the dining experience. We've been to brunch probably six times now and have never been disappointed with both selection and quality of the food."

  • "My husband and I were expecting the food to be a little better since we had dined many times at her restaurant in NY. There were many options on the menu, including a tasting menu, restaurant week selections and ala carte. We thought our food choices were just average. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the waitress was very accommodating. We would probably not return to this restaurant."

  • "We ate dinner here during restaurant week in Pittsburgh. It is a good Italian restaurant with lots of fresh pasta options. The tiramisu was very good. We had a quieter table against the back wall."

  • "After dining at Lidia ' s Italy in Pittsburgh for the first time, one word that would describe it the best is: excellence. From the moment you walk in the door you are treated with excellence. The service is high - class and the food is the best I've ever had. From the appetizers we sampled to the entrees, drinks, and dessert, everything was prepared fresh and everyone in our party greatly enjoyed what they had. We traveled 6 hours to dine at Lidia ' s Pittsburgh and are already anticipating our next trip there."

  • "Food quality as slipped. Tomato sauce which should be outstanding was bitter. Portions were adequate but overall quality was not good. Would only go there for pasta without tomato sauce. Drink prices are too high."

  • "The Caesar salad was average but my gnocci with duck ragu was simply stellar. I don' typically care for duck but took a chance at the recommendation of our waitress and wasnt't xisappointed. My husband had the rabbit which he was extremely happy with as well. My dessert of the house made ice creams with cookies was the perfect way to end the meal. My husband had the olice oil cake with lemon curd which he thoroughly enjoyed. A wonderful meal!"

  • "Not bad, but not special. Lidia's Pittsburgh feels like the manufactured version of a nice restaurant. I dined at Becco in NYC (Another Lidia property) and the food was far better. The noise level was very distracting. Also, OpenTable messed up the reservation. (They indicated this is a problem with OT) Fortunately the staff was nice and they were able to seat us."

  • "My brother comes in from Houston, TX once a year and we tried Lidia's 6 or 7 years ago, so everytime they come into Pittsburgh he wants to come here for dinner. I usually have the 3 pasta's but this time I had the raviolli wild boar and it was delicious. I am sure every time they come to Pittsburgh we will be stopping by at least once."

  • "There was a group of six and we had dinner before a show. The service was prompt and excellent. We ordered the pasta trio, beet salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, lasagna and the crab ravioli. Everyone was pleased and commented on the excellent service. We also tried the wine selection and were successful to find what we wanted. Love the atmosphere and friendly environment."

  • "The Zuppa Di Pesce had 2 small shrimp, 1 scallop, 2 small clams, 5 small muscles, 1 very small piece of calimari. 3 small fish fillets, 3 pieces of overcooked octopus, a tablespoon of cous cous and just enough broth to barely cover the cous cous. Everything except the octopus was prepared properly and the broth had a very good taste, but a little less safron would have been better. I have loved seaford and Italian fare all my life and had heard good things about Lidia's; I was terribly disappointed, especially since I did tell the server about the chewy octopus. She said she would tell the kitchen. My wife's Pasta Trio was three serving spoons of pasta. When she selected one to continue, she received another serving spoon only."

  • "We had a leisurely dining experience at Lidia's. It is great for a special occasion. My daughter is a chef in NYC and wanted to dine some place different. We've passed by Lidia's a few times and decided to try it. The pasta trio was terrific, and the tiramisu and lemon curd cake were divine!"

  • "I took a friend to Lidia's to celebrate her birthday. We started with 3 different types of warm bread fresh from the oven there daily served with a pesto spread and an olive spread. We both chose the complimentary Caesar salad full of crunchy romaine and lightly dressed. My friend ordered the pasta trio which was an excellent assortment that day - the ravioli filled with pear and ricotta cheese was heavenly. I enjoyed my pollo al limone but the chicken breast was a little tough. The sauce of roasted lemon, capers, and olives was divine. My friend was served a huge piece of tiramisu, complete with a candle. It was a wonderful afternoon!"

  • "Being a long time Lidia cooking show/cookbook fans, my husband and I had high expectations, which were exceeded on our visit. We arrived 45 minutes early ahead of our reservation and were accommodated with a smile. Our waiter was a joy; he was attentive, and helpful, giving us his personal favorites when we had difficulty ordering. Everything was beautifully plated and full of flavor. Portions were generous and we left full and happy. My husband had the pasta trio - he had two helpings of all three as he could not choose a favorite - they all were full flavored. I had the fennel sausage with pea puree with fennel - what a great flavor combo. A wonderful experience - we will make a special trip to Pittsburgh just to go back!"
