Diner Reviews
  • "The place was recommended by a co-worker when I asked for a place to eat near the convention center. I have to say the aroma that runs thru the place, the excellent service, beautiful light fixtures, and the overall delicious dining experience will bring me back forever. We had a business meeting with clients and the setting couldn't have controlled the mood any better. They were very pleased. The Trio that you serve for dinner was to die for, I could of kept eating refills, not only because of the exceptional table side service, but those fluffy stuffed raviolis that seemed like the Pittsburgh staple of a pierogi. Enjoyed every second of being in your restaurant."

  • "Our server was new and did not understand the menu well. (In life, we've all been new at jobs, so it was not a problem in our minds) However, she was attentive, solicitous, friendly, sweet. She'll will make every mistake once, and then she'll be a fabulous wait person."

  • "We got there early, seated promptly, scones/flavored butter excellent as was the mimosa and sangria. Antipasta bar was superb things like mussels were a surprise. All very tasty. I had trio pasta - loved two out of three. The orechette had a flavor that I did not care for (not just here - had before and don't know what it is). My husband had the gnocci with duck ragu - said it was excellent. Had coffee with the dessert bar. Tiramisu was delicious as was the almond cake. Something with blueberry sauce that was delicious. All in all the brunch was more than we expected - service wonderful and the price was very affordable for all the food that we had. Have already been recommending. We definitely will be back."

  • "Went to Lidia's with friends and honestly, nothing like we had hoped. Service was okay, had to ask for bread. Wine selection was good for the price. Food was okay. Nothing was traditional and maybe we had made an assumption that it would be. My wife and I had the same meal and out friends had different dishes, though nothing really stood out. The homemade ice cream was the best we ever had."

  • "Nice for a special occasion....food selection is different...a bit pricey but good for a special occasion. Waiter was fabulous! Very attentive!"

  • "My wife and I go to Lidia's fairly often...this time we went for lunch. We had the same great service as usual. My wife got the Caesar salad and I had the soup, which was beans and greens...both were excellent. We both ordered the pasta trio, which had 3 fantastic choices. Overall, another great time at Lidia's."

  • "I have been watching Lidia on tv for years and have always wanted to eat her beautiful food. It only took me 27 yrs but hubby took me for our date night. It was a Thursday so I knew it would be nice and quiet which it was. The resturant it's self is beautiful. Our waitress was promt to greet us however, we both ordered calamari and she never said "hey just FYI that's a whole lot of food!" It was a whoooole lot of food.best calamari ever though.Very yummy everything though!"

  • "This restaurant is great for Italian food. They offer complimentary soup or salad with the entrée at lunch (don't know about dinner). Portions were very large. Staff told us it is their intent for everyone to have some food left to take home. We took enough for lunch the next day. Excellent!"

  • "Although not all menu items were as excellent as we hoped (dry manicotti filling was the most notable miss), the service made up for any shortcoming. Everyone that came to our table was attentive, kind, good-natured, and seemed to truly aim to help us enjoy our meal. Thank you for a truly wonderful dining experience."

  • "Sat for quite a while before someone (I think the Manager) came over and offered an apology. He took the drink and appy order and the waitress showed up After that service was fine until we said no dessert and it seemed like a rush to get us the check. Overall it was a good experience however and I would dine there again."

  • "May be too high expectation after reading the good reviews. For me food is average. The secondi of stuffed quail was the worse. Quail was raw and had to send it back. Kale is a high fibre leafy vegetable. For me large leaves of roasted kale do not belong here. Desert of olive oil cake was good. Not sure why the insalata caprese specifying white balsamic vinegar, came out with a brown dressing. Tasted ok though."

  • "We were traveling across country and stopped by for dinner. We had eaten here before and were looking forward to a return dining experience. Although parking was a bit of a hassle with the construction going on in the area, we were welcomed and accommodated by everyone at the restaurant. We had an excellent dining experience."

  • "Having eaten many a meal at Lidia's NYC restaurants, this Pittsburgh location doesnt quite compare. While the food was good with many of the same menu items as Becco in NYC, we found the pasta was over cooked with the trio of pasta special. The pasta were tasty and sauced nicey but way too soft and gummy. I ordered the scallop special and they were oversalted to the point I couldnt enjoy the entire dish. However, the desserts were spot on with the tiramisu being light, creamy and delish. I had the chocolate pudding cake with chile and it was quite amazing! The service is spectacular -- professional and friendly! I'd try it again!"

  • "What a wonderful brunch! The fresh breads with the fruit butters are always fresh and new combinations. The antipasti choices always amaze in creativity and flavorful. Plus, it's all healthy, vegetables instead of butter and cheese. The main course choices make choosing difficult. Then there's dessert--tiramisu the best--plus almond cake, cookies, etc. Can't eat it all!"

  • "My son and daughter in law had their wedding luncheon there last year. It was outstanding! The kids gave us a gift card for Christmas and we finally got a chance to use it. The food was delicious and the staff was so professional and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and warm. We will definitely go back again."

  • "We had a reservation and arrived a little early and are table was not ready, so we went to the bar and didn't wait long for the table. The food was very good, but the service was a little off for a place with a supposed good reputation. Overall I would go back."

  • "Food was not very good. Lasagne was good, but the quail had a brown mushy side of mixed kale, mushrooms and other things that wasn't good and looked unappetizing. The gluten free pasta was very disappointing. The bolognese sauce was very acid and not rich at all. There was no gluten free ravioli option the night we went. The other gluten-free pasta options were ordinary. We were disappointed. Excellent service, although the waiter talked so fast, we couldn't remember what he said."

  • "Food was fabulous. Service was AWFUL which cancelled out the wonderful food. Our waitress has to be the most miserable person on the face of the earth. No smile, no thank you, no how is everything. Just a huge disappointment at over $100 for two. If I have to request my water glass to be refilled in a restaurant like this, either I'm in the wrong place or they're just getting it wrong!! Time between being seated, greeted, water, bread, order taken was completely off."

  • "We arrive and the host ignored is even though I greeted him with a hello. It took nearly 5 minutes for him to greet and seat us. When he did seat us (a couple) he attempted to place us at a seating for 6 in the middle of the travel area of the restaurant. The place was empty. Red flags everywhere. The food was poor. The pasta with sausage came with only one bite size piece of sausage. The waiter asked how the pasta was and we said we didn't care for the fettucinin Alfredo (over salted) so he brought more. The wine was pricey to begin with but when you get half a glass it is not worth it. What can I say , we had high hopes for this place but it was one of the worst dinners and surely the worst italian restaurant I have ever dined at."

  • "We've had lunch here a few times, this was our first time for dinner - it won't be the last. This place is top notch all the way, the food is great, the drinks were great, an overall perfect experience. Suggest you sit at the bar for a drink before dinner - the bartender we had was very friendly, very knowledgeable and of course made exceptional drinks!"

  • "This was a special celebration. We were very disappointed on many levels. 2 meals were cold. The restaurant was not busy at all. Our service was poor. It took a while to get attention so the cold food could be sent back, and another lengthy wait for the food to be returned. A third party was served the wrong dish twice, again a long wait for the right food to arrive. Another party got the pasta trio. There was too long a wait for the second serving to be offered. There was no compensation for the cold, and wrong food being served. The dishes were just so-so. Nothing outstanding. Not impressed!"

  • "From the friendly greeting at Valet service to the attentive and informative wait service, you feel welcome and a valued patron. The Beet Salad was phenomenal!great wine choices and the menu variety was a plus. Pollo AL Limone melted in your mouth."

  • "This is my second visit to Lidia's. With some restaurants, the second visit cannot measure up to your first, not in this case.....everything was just as superb as my first visit. I once again enjoyed the Pasta Trio, as the pasta choices were different from my first visit. In addition to the past, the appetizers are terrific.... I highly recommend this spot for those that have had one too many Roethlisbergers from Pepe's.....which I also love!"

  • "This visit was a gift from my daughter who was with me and a close relative from out of town. The meal was superb. I am a fan of Lidia and watch her show faithfully. We were all so happy to enjoy the same meals we've watched Lidia prepare. I ordered the Braised Pork Belly with friend polenta and quail egg. The presentation was very appealing and the food amazing. I have not enjoyed such great service in a very long time."

  • "excellent cocktails at the bar along with those amazing breadsticks, olives and chickpeas, professional yet approachable service and delicious food. The lasagne bolognese, the veal chop the octopus and the olive oil lemon cake--all standouts. As always remains one of our favorites since the day it opened'"

  • "Overall, very good restaurant. We didn't realize when we made our reservations that it was during brunch. We would have preferred to order directly off of the menu. Preparation was excellent. My wife had a fish that was of excellent quality. The fresh pasta was good not outstanding. The fresh pastries were very good."

  • "Divine gluten-free ravioli made in house, burrata also made in house, silky-smooth hazelnut cheesecake gelato, a stellar beer list on tap ... the food was amazing. The service began well, but then a large group nearby asked for separate checks. We were seated near the server's station and couldn't escape the waiter's seething muttering as he struggled with the computer. The service for the rest of the meal was awful -- distracted, poorly timed, and palpably angry. We were torn between wanting to experience more of the food and wanting to escape. A puzzling and upsetting end to what began as a wonderful experience."

  • "My husband specifically requested we go to Lydia's for his birthday, which I noted on our reservation and we had a great time. Our service was fantastic, including birthday wishes from the staff. I found that extremely thoughtful. The food was also amazing!"

  • "The food was simply great. The Hanger Steak was cooked just the way I wanted it. The host was slow and unprofessional but did not spoil the evening. It is a great reminder of Becco even though thinks that place is only for tourists."

  • "We were both delighted by the experience. The food was excellent, my lamb was particularly delicious and my husband enjoyed his hangar steak that was presented as thin succulent pieces. The attention to detail, including understanding that we were to share dishes for the appetizers and delivering a birthday dessert unprompted was relaxing and fulfilling. As the evening progressed and the sun set, a golden light filtered into the room and created a romantic atmosphere that revealed itself more and more as time passed. The birthday dinner was a great success, we love the food and the service at Lidia's and look forward to our next occasion."

  • "We enjoyed the family style "Sunday sauce" meal at $30 pp and the food was exceptional - delicious, plentiful and high quality. The mushroom papperdalle was the single best pasta dish I have ever eaten. Try the infused Italian sodas like blackberry and sage although the wine list is varied and interesting."

  • "Considering the pricing in this restaurant, the food could have been better. One dish was salty, some of the pasta was overcooked, the red sauce was not anything to write home about. Other items were good such as the ravioli and tiramisu. This was our first visit--had taken family for a 45th anniversary. But we will revisit sometime in the future."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner and would absolutely recommend not even opening the menu and ordering the pasta trio of the day. All three were delicious!"

  • "We were looking forward to dining at Lidia's on our trip to Pittsburgh and we were not disappointed. The food lived up to expectations and the staff who looked after us, Zack, exceeded expectations. He accommodated our every wish. My only negative is that the warehouse design makes for a pretty noisy environment but it wouldn't stop me from returning on another trip to Pittsburgh. My dining partner is Italian and she was very pleased with the food as it was more authentic Italian cuisine and had not been americanized."
