Diner Reviews
  • "This was a special celebration. We were very disappointed on many levels. 2 meals were cold. The restaurant was not busy at all. Our service was poor. It took a while to get attention so the cold food could be sent back, and another lengthy wait for the food to be returned. A third party was served the wrong dish twice, again a long wait for the right food to arrive. Another party got the pasta trio. There was too long a wait for the second serving to be offered. There was no compensation for the cold, and wrong food being served. The dishes were just so-so. Nothing outstanding. Not impressed!"

  • "From the friendly greeting at Valet service to the attentive and informative wait service, you feel welcome and a valued patron. The Beet Salad was phenomenal!great wine choices and the menu variety was a plus. Pollo AL Limone melted in your mouth."

  • "This visit was a gift from my daughter who was with me and a close relative from out of town. The meal was superb. I am a fan of Lidia and watch her show faithfully. We were all so happy to enjoy the same meals we've watched Lidia prepare. I ordered the Braised Pork Belly with friend polenta and quail egg. The presentation was very appealing and the food amazing. I have not enjoyed such great service in a very long time."

  • "Overall, very good restaurant. We didn't realize when we made our reservations that it was during brunch. We would have preferred to order directly off of the menu. Preparation was excellent. My wife had a fish that was of excellent quality. The fresh pasta was good not outstanding. The fresh pastries were very good."

  • "excellent cocktails at the bar along with those amazing breadsticks, olives and chickpeas, professional yet approachable service and delicious food. The lasagne bolognese, the veal chop the octopus and the olive oil lemon cake--all standouts. As always remains one of our favorites since the day it opened'"

  • "Divine gluten-free ravioli made in house, burrata also made in house, silky-smooth hazelnut cheesecake gelato, a stellar beer list on tap ... the food was amazing. The service began well, but then a large group nearby asked for separate checks. We were seated near the server's station and couldn't escape the waiter's seething muttering as he struggled with the computer. The service for the rest of the meal was awful -- distracted, poorly timed, and palpably angry. We were torn between wanting to experience more of the food and wanting to escape. A puzzling and upsetting end to what began as a wonderful experience."

  • "My husband specifically requested we go to Lydia's for his birthday, which I noted on our reservation and we had a great time. Our service was fantastic, including birthday wishes from the staff. I found that extremely thoughtful. The food was also amazing!"

  • "We were both delighted by the experience. The food was excellent, my lamb was particularly delicious and my husband enjoyed his hangar steak that was presented as thin succulent pieces. The attention to detail, including understanding that we were to share dishes for the appetizers and delivering a birthday dessert unprompted was relaxing and fulfilling. As the evening progressed and the sun set, a golden light filtered into the room and created a romantic atmosphere that revealed itself more and more as time passed. The birthday dinner was a great success, we love the food and the service at Lidia's and look forward to our next occasion."

  • "The food was simply great. The Hanger Steak was cooked just the way I wanted it. The host was slow and unprofessional but did not spoil the evening. It is a great reminder of Becco even though thinks that place is only for tourists."

  • "Everything about this first-time dining experience at Lidia's was exceptional from the attentive valet service to the knowledgeable wait staff to the delicious and extraordinary food itself. Our waiter was able to direct us to wines from the Bastianich winery (my choice) that perfectly suited our meals. The Pasta Trio was perfectly prepared and served. The Zuppa de Pesce and Ossa Buco were outstanding. The desserts were in a class by themselves--homemade ice cream, tira misu, and cannolis to keep us coming back for more. A wonderful evening."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner and would absolutely recommend not even opening the menu and ordering the pasta trio of the day. All three were delicious!"

  • "Considering the pricing in this restaurant, the food could have been better. One dish was salty, some of the pasta was overcooked, the red sauce was not anything to write home about. Other items were good such as the ravioli and tiramisu. This was our first visit--had taken family for a 45th anniversary. But we will revisit sometime in the future."

  • "We enjoyed the family style "Sunday sauce" meal at $30 pp and the food was exceptional - delicious, plentiful and high quality. The mushroom papperdalle was the single best pasta dish I have ever eaten. Try the infused Italian sodas like blackberry and sage although the wine list is varied and interesting."

  • "We were looking forward to dining at Lidia's on our trip to Pittsburgh and we were not disappointed. The food lived up to expectations and the staff who looked after us, Zack, exceeded expectations. He accommodated our every wish. My only negative is that the warehouse design makes for a pretty noisy environment but it wouldn't stop me from returning on another trip to Pittsburgh. My dining partner is Italian and she was very pleased with the food as it was more authentic Italian cuisine and had not been americanized."

  • "We recently celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at Lidia's with several of her good friends. Everyone had a wonderful time. The valet parkers were especially attentive to the needs of a group of older women with some physical limitations. They were extraordinary sensitive without being condescending. The food was quite good with a variety of options to accommodate the tastes of everyone in our group. The service was also very good with just the right level of attention. My mother and her friends especially appreciated that they were not rushed. They all had an opportunity to enjoy their meals and the conversation at the table."

  • "We were in Pittsburgh for the afternoon only and specifically sought out Lidia's because we love her PBS shows. The food was on point - pasta was delicious and all food was served HOT and very flavorful! We loved it. Staff was great and we noticed a few tables with kiddos so it is also family-oriented as well."

  • "Our first time at Lidia's. We came from Canada for the long weekend and were very excited to be able to get a reservation at Lidia's. Food was excellent. Service outstanding.....definitely worth the drive. Atmosphere can be both casual and dressy. Would definitely come back again."

  • "I took my friend to Lidia's on Friday June 20,th. She was from New Mexico. The waitress was excellent very caring and recommended two different wine's for us. She also brought in a sample to try. The Ceaser salad, bread, wine and dessert were excellent but disappointed in the pasta trio. She had the veg. verison of the rigatoni and stated it was bland. Only other thing there were little nates (flying around our table) I know theese come out around the soda area but it made me feel embarrassed because I wanted to show her how wonderful Lidia's is."

  • "We chose to dine at Lidia's during our visit to Pittsburgh upon the recommendation of a friend. We were treated to excellent service by Ashley, and Franco was very helpful in assisting us in our choice of wine for the evening. He gave us several options and tastes before we chose the bottle that we enjoyed. We were especially happy to have delicious gluten free pasta, because one of us has celiac disease and it isn't often that we get the opportunity to have house-made GF pasta. The food was richly gourmet as expected, and the entrees of salmon and lamb chops were especially pleasing. We were so satisfied with our first two courses that we didn't leave much room for dessert, but the sorbet hit the spot to round out a very enjoyable evening."

  • "I have dined at Lidia's 5-6 times a yr for 5 yrs. There is an occasional "off" night, but last Friday's experience was an all-time low. Lidias is one of my "go to" sites for guests and I enjoy the wine list with its excellent selection of Italian whites. All 4 had Caesar salads and all agreed that the dressing was not right...no one finished one. My wife's lasagna, her menu favorite, was so loaded with cinnamon/nutmeg/whatever it was that it must have been made with Cincinnati chili! I took one bite and asked the waiter if they had a new chef or recipe...it was bad. Osso buco and pasta trio were very mediocre. Only my polipo lived up to past visits, and it was, as usual, fabulous. I'll go back and hope this is not the new standard."

  • "We chose Lidia's at the last minute to treat some out of town family to a nice dinner. The food was excellent, some dishes were surprisingly tasty like the sauteed spinach. Our waitress was good, but she was a little rushed tending the tables. Even though it wasn't crowded on a Tuesday night it seemed a wee bit understaffed. Lidia's has never disappointed."

  • "Ate dinner with friends the other night. Food was wonderful and atmosphere extremely pleasant. Wait staff were very good, quietly attending to every need. Perfect place to talk with visiting friends and be able to hear each other."

  • "I love Lidia's for something different that those chain Italian restaurants. This visit was a celebration lunch for 2 of my employees. All 3 of us ordered the Pasta Trio, which is unlimited. This isn't your ordinary spaghetti marinara, oh no, it was MUCH more than that. The day's selections included butternut squash ravioli with sage butter, pork ragu over fusilli and fettuccini with a mushroom marsala sauce! We all had seconds of each and then thirds of at least one. The guys opting for fourths!"

  • "I have eaten at Lidia's approx. five times this year. It is my go-to restaurant when guests come. It has always lived up to my expectations and more, but this time our server was far less attentive. His service was not consistent through the evening. I was disappointed but I will return and request not to have him if he is there when I am. But overall still my favorite place to go!"

  • "First time to Lidias. Went with friends. Lamb is my favorite dish. The lamb I had was very gamey (a little off). My wife had a pasta dish (gnocchi) and very much enjoyed it. Same scenario for our friends. The husband wasn't overly thrilled with his meat dish but his wife enjoyed her pasta dish. I think you see the trend here."

  • "Four of us attending a conference went to Lidia's on a Monday evening. The food was superb, especially their signature pastas, and the freshness and variety of the salads and vegetables outstanding. We appreciated that while providing excellent service and not making us feel at all rushed, they also kept the courses so that we made our evening presentation without being hurried. "

  • "I ordered the Spaghetti Alla Trapanese because it included calamari and shrimp. However, what came was battered and fried seafood. I have never had this in any pasta seafood dish and would not order it again. In addition, the small amount of pesto sauce was too mild and lacked flavor."

  • "Took my family here for brunch while they were visiting me in Pittsburgh, we all absolutely loved it. I would definitely go back again, not only was the food out of this world but the service was exceptional. "

  • "The dinner was fantastic. I had the pasta trio and my husband had the sweet sausage. They were both fantastic. The pasta trio kept coming to the table fresh and hot, all you wanted. The desserts were fantastic! Chocolate lovers beware, you will overeat! Please go and enjoy!!! Prices were reasonable."
