From start to finish, this restaurant does not disappoint. We have had excellent experiences every time we have visited. We have been fortunate to have had a great server in Becky attending to us in a way that makes us want to come back again and again. The Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner has always been top notch in food preparation and service. We will be back because of this. Thank you, once again for a great experience.

Food, particularly the pasta dishes, was spectacular. Good, friendly and helpful service was appreciated and the ambiance was surprisingly calm and quiet. If we lived in Pittsburgh, Lidia's would be on our regular top restaurants list. A wonderful place to dine with friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

I loved my appetizer and dessert. However, I wasn't impressed by my entree - trio of pasta served table side. Of the three pastas, only one was delicious. The others were ok - I was expecting more from this restaurant.

Pasta trio was greasy and salty. Fish was served on a bed of greens that was utterly bitter. The fish itself was underseasoned so that made the dish pretty much inedible. Sheperd style pork was salty and capped with an enormous wad of leathery cheese. All the food was served colder than lukewarm. Absolutely unacceptable. The place seems understaffed. But the waitress, a chubby yinz who would look right at home in Munhall, had an attitude that would have been funny if not for how irritating it was. This was the knid of waiting where the waiter would come along periodically just to make sure that we were getting how good the place is - not to make sure whether we were comfortable and needed anything else. Answering your guests while you walk by their table is downright rude. I regret my tip. Almost as much as my decision to go to Lidia's. Never again.

  • Rip off waitress! Premium price for mediocre food!

Greed alert! Our server was excellent until it was time to pay. Three of the five diners in my group had an issue with the waitress being dishonest and greedy. Diner #1- receives correct bill, charge card run, amount due changed from $33 to $48. Server corrects the charge and apologizes. Diner #2-pays cash and receives $10 less than expected. When questioned, the server actually pulls the $10 from her pocket and, while apologizing, returns it to the cheated diner. Diner #3- diner pays cash and requests the change. Server does not return change until the diner requests it again. Premium price for just okay food. Avoid Lidia's in downtown Pittsburgh!

We are a fan of Mrs. Bastianich and ate at the new Orsone in Friuli. However. Lidia's in Pittsburgh was not up to her standards. Osso buco was good not great. Perhaps it was boiled, not simmered. Barley risotto was bland. Gnocchi was heavenly and pastas were very nice. Dessert was mixed. Pumpkin cake was not tasty but the olive oil gelato and rosemary crumble with it were amazing.

Lidia's is the consistent choice for a special brunch. The staff is always attentive without being overbearing. And best of all, they always manage to establish a sense of humor without excess familiarity. After a few visits, one is familiar with the format, but there's always some item to surprise. The formal choice of entrée, coupled with buffet-style antipasto and dessert service always sets just the right tone for the affair.

Food was fairly good. Short ribs served tender but just warm. Deconstructed pork chop smothered with cheese??? Pasta trio: country tomato sauce very good but remaining two sauces were bland. They were out of our original desert choice. We were seated immediately to our table of choice but after that, service (both drinks and dinner) slowed to a crawl. Simply doesn't measure up to the Cleveland food scene. (And believe me, this is not a Cleveland / Pittsburg thing.)

We always enjoy our evening here. We both get the pasta trio meal and it's always excellent. My fiancé is a vegetarian and one of their pastas had meat that she politely declined. Within minutes another server was there with a vegetarian version that we didn't even ask for! Very nice! Later, she asked the server to recommend a choice between two desserts that she chose. She didn't love it and apparently the server noticed and, again without being asked, the other of the two desserts showed up at our table! I haven't had much better service anywhere in the world!!!

Overall - pretty good but can be improved. The antipasto bar was disappointing. Lack of quality cold cuts, cheeses, usual antipasto veggies. Expected more of what their usual menu offers. I think they can do brunch much better - salads were ok. We usually go for a sit-down dinner and we find the food excellent. The antipasto plate is amazing so was expecting something along the same line - especially for a Sunday brunch.

We had a group of 7 and everyone, including the vegetarian among us, found something we loved. It was quiet enough that we could enjoy a conversation without shouting, but enough background noise to keep the energy level high. The service was very good, constantly refilling drinks and bringing everything we needed. The food was very reasonably priced for the high quality. We would definitely recommend Lidia's Restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal in a great atmosphere that won't break your budget.

Visiting in area, thought this would be a good place for a birthday dinner. Party of 6, at 6pm on a Saturday. Service was S L O W; even though restaurant wasnt packed. Took 2.5 hours to have an app, dinner, and a cake cut that we brought in. We were told that we'd be charged a fee for the cake, but it wasnt on the bill. Bottle of wine, 3 apps, 6 dinners, $250 out the door. Food wasnt spectacular, menu was 'less than' we expected; only a half dozen pasta dishes, not even a spags and meatballs. Special is a pasta dish, with servers walking the room with pans of 3 different pastas. Trouble is, you need a 3 x 5 Flag and a megaphone to get them to stop at your table. Beet Salad was best thing we saw at table. Overall, let down a bit

Starting with a pleasant experience at the bar tasting an Italian beer Peroni. The bartender Paul was very nice, conversational without being intrusive. We enjoyed complimentary fried chick peas and bread sticks. The Maitra D prepared us the perfect table, after the impeccable departure timing of the previous party. He set the table with precision and pride and then ceremoniously seated us at the best table in the restaurant. Our waitress picked up where he left off serving us with a confident and comfortable style, offering her suggestions and knowledge of the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. Lidia's Caesar salad was a standout as well as the pasta trio. The service was amazing as the team in all black seamlessly worked together :)

I have eaten here a few times for various special occasions. The food was always good and there is a good wine selection. It is a higher quality of food than an average restaurant but not too far out of whack that when reading the menu everything looks unfamiliar. I usually get the pasta trio. 3 pasta types served and they keep coming around to refill it fresh right out of the pan. I recommend this place to take clients or to celebrate an occasion. It it too price for daily dining.

The burrata appetizer was excellent, served with greens cooked to a soft texture that perfectly complemented it. The gnocchi with duck ragu was delicious. The 3 pastas was a mixed bag. The one with pesto was boring. Caeser salad was boring too. The waitress had attitude -- I'm superior since I work here and know more than you do -- bizarre when you've eaten in many fine restaurants and assume you will be treated with courtesy and respect. Plus, she seemed insulted that we didn't want dessert and never looked our way after we had finished eating, so we had to ask a server for our check. The serving staff on the other hand were great. I wish I didn't have to give this criticism, because I am a fan of Lidia's TV program.

Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce; Penne Carbonara with artichokes and roasted squash; Pear and Three Cheese Ravioli. The accompanying Caesar salad was the best we have ever had and the desserts were to die for! Pumpkin Cannoli, a fabulous Tiramisu and an apple pastry with fruit and crème fraiche ice cream. the staff were so very professional and friendly. Amazing decor...loved those glass globe chandeliers! We only wished we lived closer to Pittsburgh so we could visit more often. Overall a lovely dining experience!
