Lidia's PittsburghLidia's is consistently good.Lidia's is consistently good. We've never had a bad meal or unpleasant experience.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, as always!Whenever I'm in Pittsburgh, I can't wait to get to Lidia's. Brunch was delicious, as expected. The antipasto is served buffet style, there are so many delicious choices. Lidia's style is to use lots of vegetables in very creative ways, without overdressing salads. Each dish is presented on a small platter, so that the green beans and cabbage stay crispy, the ceasar is always freshly tossed and frittada is warm. So many choices! The desserts are also served buffet style, as much tiramisu as you can possibly want. The cakes are never too sweet, just perfectly moist and delicious. The entrees are served to you, but we end up taking them home, having eaten way too much. I wish we had Lidia's at home.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visitThis was my first visit, to celebrate our parents birthdays (my mother's 70th). We didn't bring children so it was just 6 adults intending to have a nice meal and conversation. Everything was wonderful. I was happy that the gentleman in charge of keeping our water topped off was always around to do just that. However, he was so quiet I could barely hear him when he was one person away from me. I felt like I had to read lips. Other than that there was nothing negative about our dining experience. Everyone was very happy with their food choices. The dish of the night seemed to be the pork chops w/pancetta and arugula (three from our group ordered them) and they were very pleased w/the taste and serving size.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday BrunchI liked that it was buffet for salad and dessert but the entree was selected and served. The staff was attentive and extremely nice and competent.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good Everything. Small Menu.Anniversary dinner at Lidia's. First time there. The service, atmosphere, food quality, alcoholic beverage selection, were very good. Higher price was expected. Menu was very small. I'm used to larger selection at typical family run Italian restaurants. I should've read menu on-line. Lidia's great reputation brought us in. We didn't see anything that we just had to have. We had two drinks - cocktail for her, beer for me. We split a full salad (Insalata Cesare) and a pasta dish (Manicotti di Ricotta). They brought them split w.o. asking. Very much appreciated! The food was presented with class and was very good! We stayed for desert. She had Torta di Cioccolatta, and I had the Biscotti Misti. These were very good, too!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AManniversary dinnerMy husband and I enjoyed our dinner experience at lidias. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was exceptional at making us feel special.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything eas great! FantasiticEverything eas great! Fantasitic wait staff, delicious and healthy food. Overall a wonderful experience!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLove'n Lidia'sWhat a treat! Fantastic, rustic Italian cuisine. Been watching Lidia cook on PBS for years and always wanted to eat with her. Not disappointed. It was everything we expected. “Tutti a tavola a mangiare!”6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSimple Extravagance.Authentic Italian cuisine presented with top shelf service. Truly a fine dining experience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place!Just moved to pittsbugh from NYC and been here a few times... It never disappoints.. Took friends from NY here as we'll and they loved it!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMYou have to go!Yummy! We had lasagna and manicotti and both were fantastic. Our waiter was attentive, but peripheral. He was just perfect-and so was the food. The manicotti was served with two sizable tubes of pasta stuffed with lovely cheese. I was concerned that the tomato sauce might be too bland, but it was the perfect compliment to the ricotta cheese filling. It kept the dish light, yet it was flavorful.I was very happy with the manicotti, but next time I am ordering the lasagna. The spinach flavor of the pasta enhances, not overwhelms the dish, but the star is the definitely the bolognese sauce. It tastes exactly the way bolognese should taste, the bar by which all other bolognese sauces should be measured. Mmmmmm! We were too full for dessert, darn it.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Flavors at Lidia'sExceptional food has exceptional flavor that can be savored in every bite. Lidia's delivers every time I dine there.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMwe go there once/month.Lidia's is a treasure for pittsburgh. excellent food. we often just share some appetizers as they are plenty for dinner. the wine list is inexpensive and diverse. The food is a little salty -- ask the chef to go easy on the salt. Overall, a great "regular' for us.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood timesBeen a few times with my wife. Never been disappointed. Food and service are good and the atmosphere is cool5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation DayWe had a party of 8 for my son's graduation and Lidia's was perfect for the day! The food and service were outstanding. The staff was attentive and friendly. I has my elderly mother along, and the staff were wonderful to her. Lidia's is never a dissappointment! My graduate felt very special!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT EVENINGA GREAT CASUAL DINING EXPERIENCE. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING, ALONG WITH GREAT SERVICE. WILL BE BACK AGAIN.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must VisitStrong service .. Perhaps the best I've ever had from water service to management, simply impeccable. Food was outstanding with large portions cooked and served to perfection. Wine list extensive, yet not overwhelming for average consumer.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding experienceA colleague had Lidia's on his list of "must do while in Pittsburgh" while we were attending a convention. I had heard from another that they had found a restaurant that served Italian near the convention center where he had the best pasta he had ever experienced. After eating at Lidia's I am sure this is where he went. I had a special ravioli with mushrooms. It was, by far, the best ever.
We were there on the Friday before a holiday for lunch so there were very few people in the restaurant. So it was very quiet. The decorations and ambiance is very pleasing, welcoming and attractive.
The staff was very pleasant and properly attentive. I highly recommend Lidia's. This is definitely a genuine rave review.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dinner and BrunchWhat a vibrant restaurant with outstanding service! We came for dinner and had a delicious meal. It was so good that we came back the next day for brunch. The brunch consisted on an array of Italian salads, an entree and various desserts. We will definitely come back when in Pittsburgh. My only complaint is that we need one in Ohio!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere, great staffGreat atmosphere, great staff and most important great food.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was superbIf you have not been to this restaurant...it is a must. AbsolutelyWhat a fabulous night! Absolutely every taste was delicious! I had the best grilled octopus ever - and I lived on the Mediterranean for a couple years!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite's in PGHMy family has been there numerous times and we love it each time. I always intended to get something beside the pasta trio but 9/10 times I do. Its so great and always something different.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally got to try it!I've always heard about Lydia's in the Strip District so when we had a reason to take a group of family out for a get-together, we picked Lydias. Great location in the Strip District in Pittsburgh and parking was easy across the street for $6. Our waitress was good and everyone enjoyed their food. My only complaint was that I told the waitress that I was torn between the ravioli and the chicken scallopini but I really wanted to try the pasta so I would go for the spinach ricotta dish. The spinach ravioli was nude! No pasta. My daughter and I were both very surprised at the plate of green balls we got. It was delicious but I still haven't tried Lydia's pasta! Everyone loved their dinners and overall, very nice evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTop tierLydia's in pittsburgh is a fabulous dinning experience!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I lived in the burghI'd be eating here all the time.
Service: the best
Food : awesome
Enough said.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Family StyleFour of us enjoyed the most delicious family style dining on Mother's day. The menu choices gave a wide selection from which to choose and were delicious. The quantity of the food was great - no one went home hungry. Everyone gets to their own dessert so no one shared a dessert. I believe it the best value on the menu. We eat at Lidia's at least 4 times a year on special occassions but Sunday Family Style will get us there more often.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThe food was amazing! I go there for special occasions and am always thrilled with every aspect of dining at Lidia's.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMfantasticit was our first time and from the time we walked in until we left were attended to and the food selections were great and staff was great5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful evening outThis was a great Saturday evening out to dinner. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and customer oriented. I got the pasta trio and could not have been happier. The pre-dinner bread and dip was delicious and flavorful. They bring out 3 pans of pasta, as well as Parmesan cheese for fresh grating, and it was all superb. The one time that our candle went out, 3 seconds later, it was replaced. This was great for a romantic night out. I had some of my girlfriend's chicken cacciatore with pesto spaetsel(pardon the spelling) and that was great too. Come on out and have a nice night.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely for lunchThis is such a nice place for lunch. Great food and good value. Beautiful lighting in restaurant.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat dinnerenjoyed dinner and the wait staff! defintely going back.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!!!!!Have been to Lydia's MANY times. The meals have always been superb. The best part is the ever changing menu items. Each item on the menu is a delicacy which makes it difficult to choose which one you want to try. I always enjoy the Pasta Trio because I get to taste and eat three different items. Now to the desserts.......Oh MY..........the honeydew sorbet was a treat. It tasted like a fresh honeydew ......only BETTER! My favorite restaurant. The best service......the servers explain the menu to you in intricate detail.
Atmosphere does not get any better!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA group of 4 of us ate hereA group of 4 of us ate here the evening before the Pittsburgh Marathon. The food was very good. I don't recall exactly what everyone had, but I had the Gnocchi with Duck ragu. Very good. Large portion. The service may have been a tad slow, but it was Saturday night it was pretty busy.
Would definitely hit it up again when in the area.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceShowed up for our 6pm reservation right on time and were immediately seated. Wait staff was professional, attentive and polite. Both of us had the Past Trio, which was outstanding. A little pricey for pasta, but well worth it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful brunchWe visited Lidia's to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our table tried the Pasta Trio and Salmon. Both were excellent. The staff was courteous and friendly, while remaining professional at all times. I would recommend Lidia's and definately plan to return soon.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy mama.I trusted Lydia's chefs to serve a meal for my son the day before he ran a marathon just as I would have made for him in my home. My husband and I were early, waited at the bar for the rest of our party, and watched the staff all roll up their sleeves to accommodate the masses that had descended on Pittsburgh because of the marathon and college graduation ceremonies. We were seated near the antipasto/dessert tables filled with a wonderful selection of fresh dressed spring vegetables, platters of meats, soup, olives, and dutch ovens filled with special mussels, white beans and broccoli rabe. Everyone enjoyed the pasta served hot from pans. Even the gluten free member of our party enjoyed a delicious pasta. Very delicious and festive lunch!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA complete success! The service was impeccable!! The food extraordinary! The Ambience was perfect!!! Thanks Lydia's for making my visit one special night!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPure excellenceLidia's is absolutely wonderful. Great for any occasion. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is purely excellent.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMitalian american foodie experienceWe went with a group of 4 and shared a taste all around so I got to taste many things on the menu. Everything was very good as expected but the Frico was most memorable. Ran right out to buy Montasio cheese and can't wait to try some more of Lidia's recipe's.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I took my parentsMy husband and I took my parents to Pittsburgh for their birthdays. We found Lidia's online for things to do on Smallman Street. They love Italian food and also love to cook so we thought it would be a great treat to eat at Lidia's. I have watched Lidia on television for years and was so excited to eat at her restaurant. The place was fabulous and we had a great time. My only complaint was the caesar salad. The menu said shaved Grana Padana cheese and my mother and I both ordered the salad. It was delicious, but we both only got one little sliver of the cheese. Lidia always used the Grana Padana on her cooking show and that was why I ordered the salad. It was so tasty, I wish it would have had a few more shavings. We will return.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, efficientWonderful food, efficient and friendly service and the biggest plus of all, a good downtown (the Strip is almost downtown) restaruant that is open on Sundays after a play or concert in the Cultural District!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a favorite. If youAlways a favorite. If you haven't been to Lidia's GO!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only thing better thanThe only thing better than the food, was the service.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed Lidia's so muchWe enjoyed Lidia's so much the first time that we went back later in the week while we were in Pittsburgh. They offer a pasta trio that is excellent. The chef prepares three different pastas each night and you get portions of all to try. The best part is you can get additional helpings. My favorite was the ravioli. My dining partner ordered the cabbage rolls and they were also very good. Service was excellent, the wine list was good and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did not drive but self parking did not look like it was a problem at all. They also had valet parking. I would highly recommend Lidia's.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafood Stew was excellent. Bread,Seafood Stew was excellent.
Bread, breadsticks and spreads were excellent.
Great service!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Brunch as AlwaysAmazing brunch, as always! Been here many times for brunch and the service/food never disappoint. Between the 3 courses (Italian app and dessert buffets and served main dish), complimentary mimosa/bloody mary + coffee, quality of all food/drinks, and professional/knowledgeable staff, the value of this brunch is unbelievable. It is now our go-to brunch spot and we look forward to sharing it many of our friends.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food! We love theExcellent food! We love the pasta trio.
