  • "I had never been to this restaurant but wanted to try it because I watch Lidia's cooking show occasionally. The food was excellent and the service was great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to return for special occasions."

  • "It was a Saturday birthday brunch. As such, it was a rousing success. Had it been a quest for superior Italian food, I'd have to say it was no trip to The Hill in St. Louis. The food was good. There was more than enough of it. I've just had better. The service was worth an A for effort, but our party of eight seemed a bit taxing. Ambience was magnificent. We had to travel some to get there, and I don't regret the trip. I just don't know if I'm going back. I guess the prices were not out of line, but I can't get over the feeling that I paid too much. Would I recommend it? Of course."

  • "My wife and I had been looking forward to trying Lidia's for some time (as we have watched her cooking show on PBS), and chose it as the restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We were disappointed. The ambience is nice, and the server was friendly. The Caesar salad was excellent. But the remainder of our experience was less than stellar. We both got the Pasta Trio, which is their specialty. All three were good, but not great -- they were under seasoned. In addition, I had to ask three times to get more risotto. There are too many Italian restaurants in the metro, and many at more reasonable prices, to return to Lidia's. "

  • "My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary at Lidia's. It was a beautiful evening so we dined on the patio. The food and service were excellent! "

  • "Had a sea food stew that was too heavy on onions. Wife had asparagus and crab ravioli that just didn't come together right. Tiramisu was exceptionally good though. Wine selection was very robust. Would recommend for dessert and drinks."

  • "It was our first time dining there. Our waitress made the experience wonderful, especially knowing about the glass hanging from the ceiling."

  • "The food and service at Lidia's is always great. My waiter "Peter" is excellent. I do have an issue with the Sunday brunch service, not with the waiter but with the serve staff. Both times I ordered the Pasta Trio and that comes with all you can eat and the service staff brings the additional pasta. The last two times I had to wait a very long time. If they are offering a service they should be able to deliver or not to offer it."

  • "This restaurant is vary good though I think I like my Italian more basic. Service is good but took a while to get the check when it was not crowded."

  • "We took my parents out for their 55th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful dinner made even better by the great service. Our waiter, while attentive, was not overpowering. We asked and received some wonderful information about the history of the restaurant and the namesake Lydia. I would recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "Had dinner on Sunday with a party of six. It was not busy so kitchen was not swamped. We had not eaten at Lidia's for over 7 years and was back in town so wanted to try our favorite Italian restaurant. The appetizers were good, although they put bread on the antipasta tray and my wife has a gluten allergy that we told them about when we ordered it. Several of the entrees were good (lemon chicken, lamb chops, but the pasta was mediocre and not the great quality we have had in the past. The sauces were bland and they did not put much on a plate of pasta. The lasagna was tasteless as well. I doubt we will ever go back. The kitchen needs better management oversight to make some much needed improvements."

  • "We had gone on a Saturday afternoon and had their Weekend brunch. Oh My Goodness!! The food was phenomenal!! The bread and variety of butters (Strawberry, crunchy sugar, and apricot butters) were divine, the antipasti was just sublime and the pasta trio (I chose the pasta trio for my entree selection) was absolutely to come back for!!! The table service plus the refills was just amazing. The flavors of the pasta popped with each bite. Craved for it and still craving for more. Will go back always!!! And the service was just impeccable! Loved it!!! Top notch service, quick turnaround and each guest is treated like royalty. Love it!!!!"

  • "First time to Lidia's. Service was absolutely terrible. Waitress forgot our bread, appetizer, and wine. Waiteress was very creepy and hard to talk to, very unpleasant. Other than the service the food was amazing, very nice place, great wine selection. I wouldn't recommend outdoor dining due to the sewerlike smell. Pretty expensive for my experience there. However, wouldve been worth it if service was better."

  • "Lidia's is a perfect place to have a patio dining experience. The patio is large and tables are not close to each other so you can still have some privacy at your own table. Service at Lidia's is always above average."

  • "Wine, Calamari, Caesar Salad, Bread, Sea Bass and the Date Cake was excellent! It could not be any better!!!"

  • "I come to Kansas City on business a few times a year and I always make sure to eat at Lidia's for lunch or dinner, whatever I can fit into my schedule. i would never come to Kansas City without a trip to Lidia's. I love the pasta special, the pastas are always delicious and you can have as much as you like. The salads are always tasty and a little different and the desserts are worth every calorie. I love the atmosphere, it's a beautiful restaurant, and the service is always perfect. I've been to Lidia's many times and I have never been disappointed."

  • "It has been over a year since we last ate at Lidia's, which we have been to many times over the years. The food quality this time was a bit less inspiring...my wife's fish came out less warm that it should have been while the seafood soup was not as good as I remembered it. That said, we did not try for any of the pasta dishes or several other specialties on the menu. The service was very good and on a Thursday night, the restaurant was busy but not full. The wine list had a nice range of Italian wines."

  • "Service was slow and water/soda refills just didn't happen. Next time I will bring a bottle of water with me. The meal was great, the food had texture and incredible taste ! The manager on duty was very friendly."

  • "I love the building and the ambience they create in the restaurant. I love the idea of the pasta trio. But when we got a server who wouldn't advocate for our table to get refills of the pasta dishes, then the fact that there was really only one outstanding tasty pasta dish being served helped my table decide:None of us will be returning to lidia's. The waiter was not timely, he was rude. He took forever to bring the desert. He never checked to find out that our soup was not good- called something Serdona- it has celery root in it. It needed a lot of cracked pepper to be palatable. I got the canneloni which was not garnished and did not look appetizing. And no kid menu! Offer small portions of menu items plus usual kid-fare."

  • "I've been to Lidia's many many many times. I've enjoyed it every time I've gone. We went over lunch and and had the Pasta Trio. Which is a staple that everyone should try! Sadly, the gal serving our table was noticeably absent. Maybe she had too many tables for lunch? Not sure, but the staffing seemed a bit light. Next time they should plan for lunch!"

  • "A group of our Sweet Adelines Chorus enjoyed a wonderful lunch last Friday. The food was wonderful according to our St Louis "The Hill" standards. The staff made us feel so welcome and met all our needs. Very relaxing. We will serenade you any time!"

  • "Our waitress, Megan, was knowledgeable and helpful. She gave recommendations when asked and was spot on with her suggestions. Our needs were attended to by multiple staff members throughout the meal, and we were encouraged to relax and enjoy our time. The food was delicious. A special touch was the writing of Happy Birthday on the dessert plate of the person with us celebrating his birthday. We would definitely recommend the restaurant and we will be back!! We're looking forward to trying the Sunday brunch."

  • "I ordered the pasta trio that is the house special and the shrimp in one of the pastas was raw. The basil pesto sauce in another had no depth at all. The marinara sauce in the third was good. My daughter had pasta with a wild boar ragu and that lacked depth of flavors as well."

  • "our group age range was from 91 to 11 and everyone had a memorable dining experience; from excellent service to outstanding food choices and quality. the wine list was truly impeccable and the deserts were out of this world. all of this added up to a wonderful and exciting family evening."

  • "Incredible flavors, attentive waiter, beautiful restaurant. The only downside is that it is so popular, that there is not a lot of space."

  • "Food was only average. Ordered the trio pasta and it was overlooked and fairly bland. Good recovery on the service and wine."

  • "On a gray, dreary day, a group of co-workers met in the coffee room grousing about the weather and decided we needed Italian for lunch. I was able to successfully make an on-line reservation for the time we wanted-- upon arrival we were seated immediately. Our server was efficient and attentive, as well as the pasta trio servers. This is one of my favorite go-to places when I need a few carbs. I can honestly say I have loved every ravioli served at Lidias, and continue to be amazed at the flavors and textures. Keep up the good work. See you soon."

  • "The food was really boring. The table felt extremely crowded and was it uncomfortably close to others. It was also so loud we had to shout at each other to be heard."

  • "I had a delicious meal at Lidia's. The wait staff did a wonderful job and the hostess was very friendly. I made a reservation using open table and I was sat at a four top for just myself. I was hoping they would see it was just one and sit me at the bar or a smaller table. Regardless I had a good time. I picked the trio of pastas and all three were great choices. However, I was expecting more from the tiramisu, so if you get dessert I would recommend going with a different selection. The coffee was a great end to an awesome meal. If I am in Kansas City again, I would go again."

  • "We has our wedding reception at Lidia's. Our photographer voted out weeding "best food". We return each year for our anniversary. Lidia's pasta trio is amazing. Add a nice bottle of Italian wine and a special dessert; can't go wrong. Lidia's is a real treat; a jewel here in KC. Pricey but worth it. Special occasions are meant to be here. Cheers!"

Everything was fantastic, service to fun with impeccable customer service. The wine list was wonderful with a great pour. Finally the food as always with Lidia's was unforgettable. Pasta Trio is the way to go every time Excellent experience in very way"

  • "My boyfriend turned 38 and I wanted to treat him to something special. We are both foodies, him a chef and me..well i just love good food. haha He moved here from Washington state in July 2013 and we spoke of coming here once. We were sincerely impressed with the hospitality and quality of food. His night was topped off better than I expected when his Date Cake dessert was brought out with a lit candle and the words "Happy Birthday" scrolled on the edge of his plate. I didn't mention it to anyone, but I did make a note when I made the reservation online. I never actually thought it would be acted on. What a fabulous surprise!"

  • "Everything was very good to great, other than our server. She was outgoing to all her tables around us, but didn't engage in conversation much with us and seemed to think we shouldn't have brought our teens. The more she came around the quicker she was to use her sharp wit to dismiss us. She needs to understand everyone uses the same color of money and it all spends the same. We will go back but more than likely ask for a different server."

  • "From when my staff and I walked in the door it was apparent that the hostess was "busy." On the phone without acknowledging our arrival and then breezing by our table, expecting us to discern that it was ours was a downer. The steaks were fatty, not marbled. The Caesar salad was underwhelming. I wouldn't recommend Lydia's to others."
