We are staying in Pittsburgh for a few days and wanted to go out for a special brunch or lunch. Lidia's was recommended in the AAA Tour Book so we made a reservation. The restaurant was not crowded and the service was attentive but not obtrusive. Our waitress informed us about the menu and told us about Lidia and the origins of her Italian - Austrian amalgam of recipes. We throughly enjoyed the three pastas we tried along with a lemon chicken preparation. We especially enjoyed the goat cheese ravioli that was one of the three pasta dishes we sampled. The antipasti and desert tables were also excellent and it was difficult not to over indulge in them. And the homemade bread was scrumptious. We throughly enjoyed our brunch at Lidia's.

I was very displeased with my visit. I had seen great reviews of this restaurant. And made reservations 3 weeks in advance. We received a call 2 days before our reservation to confirm and when we actually got there the table was not ready. I had put a special instruction for the restaurant that it was my husbands birthday and yet they served me the dessert instead of my husband after we had already ordered dessert. The walnut and pear salad was covered in oil with no taste. The lemon chicken was bland and I can tell you Italian food does have taste. Many dishes were bland.

We wanted to try Lidia's because my son who is visiting from NYC works at Becco (also owned by Lidia). We were very pleased to find such gourmet food and excellent wine right here in Pittsburgh! Everything from appetizer to dessert was outstanding and our service was incredible! I would highly recommend this restaurant to someone looking for a fine dining experience!

My husband and I were on vacation (from MI) and new we wanted to eat at one of the chefs restaurants from the "Master Chef" show we watch every week. When we saw that Joe's mothers restaurant was near where we were going for vacation (just 2 hrs out of the way), we new we had to go. We were early for our reservation but got seated right away. The service was quick and amazing. I am 19 weeks pregnant (after 2 miscariages) and nervous a lot when eating places, but our waitress Jessica was so understanding and helpful on what I can safely select. I let her decide for me and so happy I did. The Pasta Trio is wonderful, and getting served table side was a neat experience. My husband loved his gnocchis. We will definately make a trip back!

Everyone at the restaurant was very nice and attentive, and I'm sure the food was prepared, as directed. But, for this Italian's palate, I was not impressed with the menu. In fact, my to-go box contained my entire sandwich (which I gave to a homeless person standing on a corner, down the street). I chose the chicken panini, the only thing that seemed appealing to me from the menu. The layer of goat cheese was so thick, it made the entire sandwich slimy and soggy. The salad was topped with uncooked red onions, which wiped out my palate, and half-blanched cherry tomatoes, which just tasted mushy and over-ripe. I dipped a fork tine into he dressing paired with the salad, and it was so sweet, I set it aside, and never touched it again.

Our order of a bottle of wine did not come until after the frost corse, and only then were we told that they were out of our selection. Big food servings-- too big. Quality varied-- pork belly primo okay, but salsicia too ready and over herbed. Quail too little bird and too any mushrooms.

As a frequent visitor of Becco in NYC, Lidia Pittsburgh falls short. Corporate needs to make sure they're keeping tabs on everything from food to service. Much of the food is over salted and table service was ok, but uneven (all tables around us got a bread basket and we had to ask for one) I would try it again, but not very soon--we were visiting.

What a treat. We went here for my daughter's birthday. Our waitress Becky was outstanding. The food was extraordinary. From the minute the front door was opened for us and assistance given in closing my umbrella, it just got better and better. The trio is a great way to experience something new. We liked all of the choices. The buffet was outstanding fro salad to desert. Thank you for making our time there memorable.

I took my family to Lidia's to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. Lidia's was a perfect place to go. The service was outstanding. They even lit a candle in my mother's dessert to celebrate the occasion. The food was wonderful. My daughter is a vegan and the chef personally recommended dishes for her. My husband, mother and brother had the trio pasta special dish that offers three all-you-can eat pastas that are delivered to your table. They customized the pasta for my mother who is a vegetarian. The staff remembered on each time that they came to serve the table (offering pasta) that my mother could not eat the meat.

We've been to Lidia's Pittsburgh a few times, and it has certainly become a favorite. On our last visit, we opted to bring our infant daughter, who is three months old. Happily, Lidia's was able to provide a sling for the car seat, so we didn't have to hold her the whole time we ate or try to safely balance the car seat on a booth seat. All three of us were comfortable and happy throughout the meal. On our last visit, my husband's frigo appetizer was outstanding, and large enough to be shared. Both of our entrees, the wild boar ravioli and the gnocchi in duck ragu were absolutely Heavenly. We each find ourselves addicted to one of their house-made sodas: my husband to the vanilla creme and I to the cranberry ginger.

Our waiter couldn't be bothered, and the fabled pasta trio was pasty, gummy, bland and lukewarm. What a shock after making a special point of dining there. A back-up server saved the day by removing the offensive food, letting me re-order, and buying us dessert--but it was a fail in multiple ways. Let the buyer beware...

My husband and I were expecting the food to be a little better since we had dined many times at her restaurant in NY. After dining at Lidia ' s Italy in Pittsburgh for the first time, one word that would describe it the best is: excellence. From the moment you walk in the door you are treated with excellence. The service is high - class and the food is the best I've ever had. From the appetizers we sampled to the entrees, drinks, and dessert, everything was prepared fresh and everyone in our party greatly enjoyed what they had. We traveled 6 hours to dine at Lidia ' s Pittsburgh and are already anticipating our next trip there.

Not bad, but not special. Lidia's Pittsburgh feels like the manufactured version of a nice restaurant. I dined at Becco in NYC (Another Lidia property) and the food was far better. The noise level was very distracting. Also, OpenTable messed up the reservation. (They indicated this is a problem with OT) Fortunately the staff was nice and they were able to seat us.
