  • "My friend and I stopped by the Library Bar for their famous Carved Prime Rib sandwich and they didn't disappoint. it is absolutely, mouth-smacking delicious! I think I've found my new addiction. A must try!"

  • "The service was lacking and they weren't attentive."

  • "for 40 dollars per person and we were a family of 4, i expected a little bit more from this place. But i find the afternoon tea at the Windsor arms was way better in taste and in presentation. I have a sweet tooth and I didn't even find their dessert that good. The only good bonus was after the tea, the sous chef came and gave us a rooftop tour of the hotel. But I would rather prefer that they concentrate on the quality of the food than giving us a tour."

  • "Was there on a business lunch and really had to skip coffee etc because the time to get food to the table was long (over 20 min)"

  • "I needed a nice place to meet some folks for a quick drink. It was perfect, had a nice cocktail menu."

  • "We had a wonderful ladies lunch to celebrate a special birthday. Quiet, civilized and fantastic prime rib sandwich plate with dip! We asked in our on line reservation booking through Open Table if they could do a special birthday dessert to surprise our friend and they followed through without a flaw! A wonderful piece of chocolate mousse with berries served on a plate hand decorated with Happy Birthday done in chocolate! Superb! The service was spot on too!"

  • "casual bar with a great ambiance. The service and bar tenders are really great. Drinks are not cheap, but that is par for the course in a hotel bar."

  • "It was fun and service was great. But very expensive. "

  • "A most enjoyable casual dining experience. Even though it was a very busy evening, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was exceptional. I will most definitely come back."

  • "very good, attentive, courteous service by all staff...was a great place to treat a special person on their retirement!"

  • "Very noisy and loud when they first sat us at the table beside the serving area. Dishes, coffee maker, plates dropping, utensils etc. They should move this table or build a full wall to replace the half wall. The restaurant was less than half full. Why use this table? They relocated us and it was the best. Food was above average. Dish recommended by waiter was excellent."

  • "I chose the Library Bar to have a few pre-drinks with friends. We had 45 min. Service was lousy. We didn't order drinks that had to be prepared. They were all straight out of bottles, yet we waited over 15 min. Our server completely ignored us. We'd probably still be waiting if we hadn't flagged down the asst manager and complained. The asst manager was great. He came to our table and got the drinks himself (within a min.) & apologized. He brought some nibbles (something we should have had when we sat down) Awhile later the manager came over & profusely apologized to us for the trouble. She told us we wouldn't have to pay. The kindness the management showed my party eased my anger and I feel that this bad situation was handled very well."

  • "I love the library bar and I dine there regularly at lunch. In this instance I went for a Sunday afternoon tea, and it was really lovely. I brought my sons with me ( under 10 ) and they had a great time as well. The ambience is calm but friendly and the food and service was excellent."

  • "A group of 5 of us went to celebrate a friend's birthday. The servers were friendly, knowledgable and kind enough to take photos of our group. The food was great, the perfect amount of food and went well with the teas. We went for the Traditional Service and came out to roughly $45 per person."

  • "...But it's moved up to a first choice place for lunch. Great decor and atmosphere, fantastic service, incredible food, decent prices / value for a restaurant at the Royal York. Highly recommended."

  • "Food and ambience were excellent, but the service was mediocre. After bringing our food our server ignored us. She did not stop to check on us and never topped up our water glasses. My companion's glass was visibly empty and she would have liked a refill to finish her lunch."

  • "Enjoyed a very nice lunch with an dear friend at the Library Bar. Food, service and ambience all very good. Even though everything was lovely, I found it a little too pricey for lunch. However, I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Good food in pleasant surroundings, generally quiet, and a very pleasant atmosphere. Salads and soup were excellent and all three of us had delicious main courses. Definitley somewhere to eat for a treat or a quiet business lunch."

  • "Ordered a bottle of wine from a limited list - no stock. Starters were good but mains very ordinary. Not value for money."

  • "My family and I had an amazing experience with afternoon tea at the Library Bar. We booked a last minute reservation and the staff was extremely accommodating. They even gave my sister (who has a peanut allergy) a completely different set of options from their standard menu. The live guitar soloist also created a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. All-in-all I highly recommend this experience for anyone that is looking to escape the tourist chaos that can be found in that part of town."

  • "Even with the limited bar menu and the slow service, I love the ambience of the Library Bar. It's like stepping back in time to and old boys club with rich dark panelling. Great for a quiet or private downtown lunch. Make reservations though as it fills up."
    Dined on 11/26/2013
  • "The library bar is more for an older crowd staying at the hotel wherein it is located. It is more bar than library as well - not as well decorated as I had hoped. An extensive scotch list from different countries; you should drink scotch, or start doing so, after going here. Good, attentive, service."

  • "Living & working downtown gives me access to the best restaurants & bars in Toronto and while I enjoy the eclectic nature of the F&B scene, the Library Bar is my most favorite watering hole. Greatt for a business lunch or a romantic rendevous. In this ever-changing world, this is one place that never does, a place where everybody knows your name. Cheers! Lucille Liu Avakian"

  • "I went with a group for a friend's birthday celebration and had a great time. Afternoon tea is quite an experience. The selection of teas is amazing, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. One of my party had special dietary needs that were not known beforehand and the staff was great in helping us out. We were invited to join a tour of the rooftop garden and apiary after, which added to the special occasion. Loved it. Would go back in a heartbeat."

  • "We booked for the afternoon tea to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was great venue for this intimate special occasion. The only downside was that there were multiple groups giving rise to noises. We otherwise enjoyed the setting, the tea and food. The waiter was so formal giving us an illusion that we were in London."

  • "Great for a cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) night with the girls. Some tasty and healthy food options, with a local flare."

  • "We had booked for Saturday lunch at 12:30. The restaurant was late in opening and, when we were finally allowed to enter, we discovered that lunch was not available. There was only "high tea." We had received no previous warning of this. The "high tea" was the dreariest I have ever had. "Tea sandwiches" included something purporting to be lobster salad, and there may possibly have been a shred of deracinated seafood somewhere in there among the mayonnaise and anonymous vegetables, but if so, it was impossible to identify. The "open faced" sandwich consisted of a lump of bland white cheese, a single watercress stem (no leaf), and three slices of long-dead strawberry. Absolutely wretched and, needless to say, expensive too."

  • "lounge is a bit dark and dimly lit. I was shocked at the price for a burger/fries... so thought the food was overpriced - $23 for hamburger so by the time you add drink, tax and tip.... European prices! Obviously for the rich or someone not on respectable business travel."
    Dined on 3/24/2013
  • "The food was very overpriced and was a meal that I would have gotten at a 500 person charity dinner. The steak was overcooked as were the veggies. The staff didn't bring cutlery/silverware when the food came, they never brought water"
    Dined on 3/13/2013
  • "restaurant overall was very nice, but it was very dark and extremely loud. The food was good, but never 100% perfect."

  • "I went to the Library Bar for Afternoon Tea with a friend. We both thoroughly enjoy the experience and would recommend Afternoon Tea for any special occasion (we saw a baby shower taking place there) or just a unique outing for tea-lovers."

  • "We went to the Library Bar for a late post-opera dinner. The room is very nice but very noisy as one might expect for a Friday night. The food was average. I had the fish and chips. The fish was warm and the batter soggy. The chips were tepid and not crisp. Actually, they weren't worth eating. The service was friendly but slow. Not many choices for an 11:00pm dinner in Toronto."

  • "The Library Bar was dark, needs better lighting, tables were too small for 4 guests to be served a meal at. Food was as expected for "Bar Fare", menu did offer an extensive selection of food. Staff were accomodating and available when needed."

  • "I enjoy the restaurant for lunch. Your staff is great but it is sometimes difficult to get served in 1 hour and that can be a problem for people who work. Perhaps that is not your target market but nonetheless it can affect a customer's enjoyment levels when the food is not ordered/delivered in a timely fashion."
