  • "The food is delicious and the views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and NYC are outstanding. The jazz brunch is perfect for gathering with friends."

  • "Last night me and 5 of my girl friends came to this restaurant and was not really impressed with the food, Some of my friends ordered the pork chop they were very dry others ordered the chicken that was dry as well, bill was over $400 with the tip very disappointed in the food. The views are great was pouring out so could not go back to walk around to really get to enjoy the view. There was a wedding going on as well so had some noise from the wedding going on up stairs. We was seated in the back of the restaurant in the corner which was fine for us we tend to get noisy it started getting very cold do to the draft coming from windows and doors that lead outside there was a draft. Thanks to my friends in spite of the food we had a blast"

  • "We chose Liberty house for our ten year anniversary. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The view from the garden area of NYC is amazing."

  • "Each of us ordered different brunch entrees and we oohed and aahed when the beautifully displayed plates arrived. The omelettes, hash, quiche, lox were all delicious and fresh. We were very content. The staff were welcoming, lovely and attentive. We were primed for a delightful Sunday afternoon by both the ferry ride and the sight of the pretty restaurant with NYC harbor views. We had taken the Little Lady ferry from lower Manhattan which docks right in front of the restaurant--that trip added to our sense of an unusual dining experience. (Note: The airy upstairs section of the restaurant is closed for the winter.)"

  • "The waiter, bartender and reservations staff were well beyond accommodating. We had a party of 12 people for lunch for a 50th birthday party of which half of our party was an hour late for the reservations due to traffic and the staff was so polite in accommodating us. The food was tremendous and the view spectacular. The birthday girl had a great time and the rest of the party said they would come back to dine at the restaurant. I would recommend the restaurant and definitely come back again. I would like to thank everyone for making the day special!!"

  • "Wanted something close to NYC as friends were coming out for brunch. Parking is plentiful. Wonderful views of lower Manhattan and Liberty State Park. Beautiful terrace and gardens. The Sunday brunch menu and cocktails were delicious. Service was very good and not rushed. Live entertainment was not near our table so not a disturbance."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary at the Liberty House and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food was delicious. We chose the cheese platter and charcuterie platter as our appetizer and were not disappointed. They paired the cheese and meet with amazing condiments and fruit. I could have stopped there. We then ordered Porter House steak for 2 with the Mashed Potatoes and Lobster Mac and Cheese..... phenomenal!! Cant wait to go back in the spring or summer and play some chess with the life size chess pieces on the deck. Oh and did I mention the SPECTACULAR views of the NYC Skyline????? Awesome!!!! Thanks for the memories!"

  • "This place never fails to dazzle. The food is excellent - fresh and well prepared - with a great variety, including sushi and rolls. Great view across the Hudson River. Service is very attentive - and there's easy parking! Can't say that about many places in this part of the world."

  • "The food here is just okay and the menu is not exciting. The service is really lacking. Luckily the restaurant has a great view- but don't expect to come here and be "wow'ed""

  • "Great food, atmosphere and stunning views of Manhattan - especially at sunset. Take the yellow 'Little Lady' ferry from downtown across the Hudson, it drops you off right at the restaurant."

  • "The view from the Liberty House is truly amazing. It is best to go there on a nice day or night, so you can enjoy the outdoor patio. Our salads were unbelievable. Our entrees were ok; my fish was a little over cooked. We also got a side of horseradish mashed potatoes and I didn't taste any horseradish in them. My dessert was pretty but bland. I got the peanut butter mousse cake; just not enough flavor. My friend ordered the flourless chocolate cake and it was dry, too over cooked. It's definitely a beautiful, romantic place with a great wine list and menu of choices. I just hope to get a better entree and dessert next time."

  • "The view is one of the best in the world sitting right off the Hudson River at Liberty State Park. From any table you can gaze out at the stars or the city skyline. No matter what the temperature is sipping on a fine cocktail by the fire pits will melt any ladies heart. The food doesn't fall short either. Always served to perfection and magnificent. The service is always friendly and warm. They will go out of their way to make sure you have nothing but a great time. I have attended both for dinner and private events. My wife and I return every year as this is where we got engaged."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience Saturday on Jan 18, 2014. We were a party of 5 including two out of town guests. The restaurant service, food, drink and wine selection were great with a spectacular New York Skyline view. Live jazz music set off the night perfectly. We have to come back when we can enjoy the outdoor dining in warmer weather."

  • "This was my first time here with my cousin to celebrate the New Year. Overall great food and very attentive service- had tuna taco's and raw bar appetizer, delish and both of us had salmon prepared as ordered!!. Would definitely return in the summer months to sit outside...view was a little disappointing..there are better indoor views on the river."

  • "I will attempt to be brief. A choice of warm, fresh bread kicked it off. The raw bar sampler and sushi roll we had as an appetizer were fantastic, and went well with our cocktails. We had a bottle of Malbec to accompany my hanger steak and my date's short rib. Both were incredible, served atop freshly made accompaniments. We decided to order two side dishes: the lobster mac & cheese and the wild mushrooms. Amazing. Piping hot and very well seasoned. For dessert we tried our server's favorite, the tres leches cake, and also ordered the nutella crème brulee. Both were delicious, although the tres leches took first place. All of this with a perfect view of NYC across the water. We will be back."

  • "We used to live in JC and remember when the restaurant was first built. We now drive an hour to get there and are always rewarded by a fabulous space, wonderful view, and good food. We were supposed to have Christmas Eve dinner at Perry Street Restaurant (part of the Jean-George domain) but cancelled the reservation after a disappointing test meal. We had a wonderful evening at reasonably expensive prices, especially for the Christmas eve menu. We picked a main dish from among several, each individually priced and everything else was included. In this case it was served family style and was way too much food. None-the-less, I couldn't stop eating the rice from the paella. Delicious, still firm, studded with perfectly cooked seafood."

  • "Food was great. We were there for 4 hours and never felt rushed once. Our waiter Randy was absolutely wonderful. His timing for everything was perfect. Randy, thank you for a great Christmas Eve dinner."

  • "I selected this restaurant for brunch to celebrate a family member's birthday. We were seated near the entrance to a separate dining room which was hosting a private event. During most of our time there, people were gathering alongside our table waiting to access their party. Amidst that chaos, the waiters were squeezing by with trays of food for the private event. The noise level was horrific and the atmosphere was frenetic. On top of that, our food took over an hour to be served. Aside from a sympathetic waiter who said that the kitchen was focused on working the private party, none of the staff made any effort to make our visit a little better. What a supposed to be a celebratory event wound up being a great disappointment."

  • "Atmosphere, ambiance were amazing early. Larger groups showed up later, got loud, romantic atmosphere disappeared. So much for finishing a romantic dinner how it started. If you're looking for a quite place to enjoy a candlelight dinner get there early."

  • "Great food, my filet mignon was delicious, good wine list, over average desserts."

  • "We took a very close friend from VA to this special restaurant for lunch as we hadn't seen her in a while. Oysters were superb. Very good harvest salad. Everyone raved about their three separate sandwiches: turkey burger, lobster roll and pulled pork. There was plenty with leftovers for dinner. The owner sent complimentary desserts that were superb and enjoyed over three cappuccinos."

  • "The food at Liberty House is quite good. Menu changes regularly and quality is consistent. Acoustics are a bit loud, and we could hear the wedding going on upstairs, but the view of NYC is incredible."

  • "Overall, a great night. Restaurant Thanksgivings are always a bit dodgy, but the food was very good as was the service. The lobster bisque was superb. The turkey was excellent. The roast salmon was on the underdone side of rare and much was left uneaten. It was a bit hectic, of course, but our server was on the ball. There was a large high school group upstairs that seemed to be freely roaming the dining room. Better crowd control would have helped."

  • "Living in New Jersey you have some really great places to eat all around you so I was thinking that the Liberty House would be this tourist type place nothing to try except for the view. I was absolutely wrong! We did go on a cold rainy Tuesday night before Thanksgiving but the view was still nice. The inside was decorated for the holidays and very cozy. They had trimmed down the dining room to about 15 tables spaced out nicely. The bar looked inviting as we walked by. The wine list was good but we are not wine snobs so it may not have been great. We ordered a medium priced bottle of wine and some sparkling water. The menu was varied and they also have a sushi bar. Both our starters and main course were well prepared and excellent."

  • "We celebrated our 6 year anniversary, our first time here. The food was great and you really got your money's worth! Staff was professional. We had a very nice view of the city. It was Very loud inside though to our left was a table of about 30 people who where benind a curtain blocking them for a bit, but then it was opened. The people walked around the dinning area like it was part of the bar having conversations less than a foot from out table. We paid our bill then explored outside was a little cold but the fire pits kept us warm, it was so nice we actually walked back inside and ordered more drinks and had them by the fire(chairs where cold, maybe cushions would be nice!) we really enjoyed the fire pit and the view it's very romantic."

  • "The food is delicious. The view is incredible. Our daughter has food allergies and the chef came out to talk with her on what she wanted to eat. Not that many places have a staff that goes out of their way to accommodate you. The wait service was excellent. A must try place!!!!!!"

  • "I have been to this restaurant many time and love it - I had out of town guests visiting who had never been to the Liberty House Restaurant - their actual words were "this is a five star restaurant" It was a beautiful night for mid November with a full moon and after dinner we sat outside in front of one of the fire pits and toasted marshmellows with an after dinner drink looking at the fabulous views of New York City with the buildingings all glowing in white lights. My guests said they are definitely coming back very soon. ps the service was fantastic!!"

  • "The Liberty House Restaurant is the absolute best restaurant in Jersey City, NJ. It has a superb menu, interior and exterior dining spaces, and spectacular backdrop on lower Manhattan. Day or night, Jazz Brunch, Wine Tastings, or just a meal, The Liberty House Restaurant provides high quality all around. I forgot to mention it is also a destination for weddings and special events? There are also donations given to local organizations through their H.U.G. project."
