Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch with live jazz in the background. Nice feeling in the place. Variety of people enjoying their brunch."

  • "We made reservations for July 4th to dine and see the fireworks. We were seated outside preferentially - only sushi and appetizers were served out here which was not ideal. It was VERY hectic and busy but we were in good company, food is always tasty, and service is always top tier!! Daniel was our server and realized the craziness of the day and did all he could to please! Our group was very happy!!"

  • "Good good , and they gave us each a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary"

  • "We took my wife's sister (visiting from St Louis) here for dinner before the start of her business trip. The food was outstanding (oysters, sashimi, Mediterranean salad (shared big enough for three), fennel dusted sea scallops and two dinners from the appetizer section (seafood sampler and PEI mussels). The maitre'd sent over complementary light pasta dish (Pappardelle with Pork Bolognese) before the main courses. The seafood was fresh, well prepared and presented and delicious. Shared a dessert (blackberry and ricotta cheese crustada). Finished a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc after starting with chilled Grey Goose for the ladies and State Park Old Fashion for me. Black sambucco to top it off. We love this restaurant!"

  • "Located in Liberty State Park with direct views of New York City, and the Statue of Liberty the Liberty House restaurant is amazing. From their outside dining options to the beautiful interior this is a hidden gem. The service is top notch only followed by a delicious menu and starter of a selection of baked fresh bread. I highly recommend anytime you are nearby."

  • "The Liberty House's locations speaks to itself but it's seems like restaurant rides off of that alone. The free range chicken was extremely bland as was the stuffed blue cheese burger. Go for the views; unfortunalty not the food"

  • "Great view of Manhattan skyline. Hard to get back to tunnel to get to nyc."

  • "food was nice, view was fab, and they were very kind bringing a birthday cake to my Dad and husband. Only gripe was that they were very funny about space for our stroller, even though I'd been very clear on our booking"

  • "I think the only highlight of our dinner was when the manager came over and asked us how everything was."

  • "Awfully surprised by the food and decor. Expected more from the decor given the location and all that has been written about how popular a place it is for wedding gs and the like. Really nothing to write home about! For was average at best. Salmon was good but the hangar steak was barely OK I would or could not ever suggest this place!"

  • "Although our evening had a rough beginning, our table was not ready and we had to wait, the manager could not have been nicer. We got to our table and we were treated to an appetizer on the house and top notch service. Our waiter was friendly and very accommodating. We were served so quickly our heads were spinning! The food was great-baked ziti was moist and cheesy, the chicken parm was classic and the chicken Marsala was overflowing with mushrooms. Would recommend Tony DiNapoli's for families and groups."

  • "Bad food & subpar service. I made reservations in advance, even took time to call the restaurant and explain/request seating with a view but was seated next to bar. Reception said she couldn't guarantee good table because they were filling up quickly. I may be way off base here but doesn't booking in advance mean you get first preference on preferred seating? The food was pricey and disappointingly bad. The only bright spot was our very polite waiter. I would never dine here again. "

  • "The view and atmosphere are great but this time the food and service were somewhat disappointing. The service was slow and the noise level due to an adjacent wedding was annoying. "

  • "for special occasions...wonderful view...innovative and very well prepared food"

  • "It was a special occasion and I requested a table with a good view. The place was not full and they seated us in a table with no view. The food was expensive, but not exceptional. I could not believe that they charged for soft drink refills. It was an average dinning experience. "

  • "The View, The View, The View!!!! It is gorgeous. We went for lunch and the view. We were not disappointed. "

  • "The food is amazing. the chefs should all be amazingly proud of themselves but the service and the waitors take way to long to do anything. I was suprised that it took almost 2 hours to have 1 salad and each of us having an entree. I would still go back just because of the location, the food quality."

  • "This is our second time choosing to meet up with friends from Long Island at this Staten Island gem. South Fin offers a consistant menu of trendy food selections, along with pleasant service, and on a good day, a great view! Can't be beat. Convenience of a large parking lot, and easy 'on-off' the expressway makes it a great choice. "

  • "Last night me and 5 of my girl friends came to this restaurant and was not really impressed with the food, Some of my friends ordered the pork chop they were very dry others ordered the chicken that was dry as well, bill was over $400 with the tip very disappointed in the food. The views are great was pouring out so could not go back to walk around to really get to enjoy the view. There was a wedding going on as well so had some noise from the wedding going on up stairs. We was seated in the back of the restaurant in the corner which was fine for us we tend to get noisy it started getting very cold do to the draft coming from windows and doors that lead outside there was a draft. Thanks to my friends in spite of the food we had a blast"

  • "We chose Liberty house for our ten year anniversary. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The view from the garden area of NYC is amazing."

  • "Each of us ordered different brunch entrees and we oohed and aahed when the beautifully displayed plates arrived. The omelettes, hash, quiche, lox were all delicious and fresh. We were very content. The staff were welcoming, lovely and attentive. We were primed for a delightful Sunday afternoon by both the ferry ride and the sight of the pretty restaurant with NYC harbor views. We had taken the Little Lady ferry from lower Manhattan which docks right in front of the restaurant--that trip added to our sense of an unusual dining experience. (Note: The airy upstairs section of the restaurant is closed for the winter.)"

  • "The waiter, bartender and reservations staff were well beyond accommodating. We had a party of 12 people for lunch for a 50th birthday party of which half of our party was an hour late for the reservations due to traffic and the staff was so polite in accommodating us. The food was tremendous and the view spectacular. The birthday girl had a great time and the rest of the party said they would come back to dine at the restaurant. I would recommend the restaurant and definitely come back again. I would like to thank everyone for making the day special!!"

  • "Wanted something close to NYC as friends were coming out for brunch. Parking is plentiful. Wonderful views of lower Manhattan and Liberty State Park. Beautiful terrace and gardens. The Sunday brunch menu and cocktails were delicious. Service was very good and not rushed. Live entertainment was not near our table so not a disturbance."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary at the Liberty House and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food was delicious. We chose the cheese platter and charcuterie platter as our appetizer and were not disappointed. They paired the cheese and meet with amazing condiments and fruit. I could have stopped there. We then ordered Porter House steak for 2 with the Mashed Potatoes and Lobster Mac and Cheese..... phenomenal!! Cant wait to go back in the spring or summer and play some chess with the life size chess pieces on the deck. Oh and did I mention the SPECTACULAR views of the NYC Skyline????? Awesome!!!! Thanks for the memories!"

  • "This place never fails to dazzle. The food is excellent - fresh and well prepared - with a great variety, including sushi and rolls. Great view across the Hudson River. Service is very attentive - and there's easy parking! Can't say that about many places in this part of the world."

  • "The food here is just okay and the menu is not exciting. The service is really lacking. Luckily the restaurant has a great view- but don't expect to come here and be "wow'ed""

  • "Great food, atmosphere and stunning views of Manhattan - especially at sunset. Take the yellow 'Little Lady' ferry from downtown across the Hudson, it drops you off right at the restaurant."

  • "The view from the Liberty House is truly amazing. It is best to go there on a nice day or night, so you can enjoy the outdoor patio. Our salads were unbelievable. Our entrees were ok; my fish was a little over cooked. We also got a side of horseradish mashed potatoes and I didn't taste any horseradish in them. My dessert was pretty but bland. I got the peanut butter mousse cake; just not enough flavor. My friend ordered the flourless chocolate cake and it was dry, too over cooked. It's definitely a beautiful, romantic place with a great wine list and menu of choices. I just hope to get a better entree and dessert next time."

  • "The view is one of the best in the world sitting right off the Hudson River at Liberty State Park. From any table you can gaze out at the stars or the city skyline. No matter what the temperature is sipping on a fine cocktail by the fire pits will melt any ladies heart. The food doesn't fall short either. Always served to perfection and magnificent. The service is always friendly and warm. They will go out of their way to make sure you have nothing but a great time. I have attended both for dinner and private events. My wife and I return every year as this is where we got engaged."
