What an incredible restaurant serving flavorful pan-Latin cuisine in the middle of sleepy downtown Skokie! A menu full of options for the carnivores, omnivores, vegetarians and everyone in between. We started by sharing deliciously flavored hummus (with home-made pita) and acorn squash stuffed with wild mushroom risotto...not a scrap left. The creative and hand-crafted cocktails were worth the $10 price tag...I could have bathed in the Spice n' Ice! The entrees were just as compelling..the table ordered the salmon, roasted chicken, pork chop, and steak asada...the layers of flavors left everyone raving about their meals...no one wanted to share! We topped off the evening ordering a trio of their desserts - molten chocolate cake, passionfruit cheesecake, and the nutella panna cotta...each one better than the next. All of this deliciousness for $40 a head (with tip). If you go, just save me a seat!

I'm usually intimidated by some menus that have words I can't pronounce or sound too "foo fooey" but I must say that you can trust you are going to love whatever you select on the menu here. I had the pork chop and it was soooo wonderful! Service was great too!

Libertad is our new favorite restaurant and we love taking friends there for a great meal. The food is delicious, fresh with a great presentation. The only thing I will say is that I always feel rushed by the waiters. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, they want to know what you want to eat. Food comes from the kitchen quickly, so they can turn tables over fast. If you don't order right away, they will continue to ask you if you are ready to order. Overall, a great place to eat.

What a find! Amazing food ... so flavorful, so creative... in such an unlikely spot! We dined with five others on a Thursday night and it was busy. The dining room is small and also offers dining at the bar. It was a bit noisy and conversation was sometimes challenging at our table of six. Don't let that stop you... Libertad was BTC - booked to capacity - with happy, satisfied diners. We're returning next week!

Got there before my guest and was seated and ordered a wonderful grapefruit enhanced cocktail. Guest came and ordered drink. Service was personal and attentive to the right degree. Guest was gluten free and was shown all item that were gluten free or could be made gluten free! We shared the pear salad, then the scallops and the squid. Everthing was fantastic. Birthday guest received her I e cream with a candle and I had the panna cotta. Did I say everthing was delicious! Great service, great food. Easy parking.

Tried for a recent birthday dinner for a good friend. Each dish was wonderful & we all would recommend the restaurant & will plan to return again. Our favorites were the acorn squash with risotto, pear salad, scallops. We also tried the salmon & one of the chicken dishes- which were great- a little spicy for one of us, however. They brought my friend a molten chocolate cake with a candle for her birthday- which was a nice touch. Their sangria was also excellent- had the sweet one- can't remember the name (there were 3-4 different ones.) Reservations are needed here. It is a bit noisy- but we had an end table by the window, which was better than some, we think, for noise- plus gave us more light. Parking was very easy.

Glad I went, heard a lot about this place. The food was very good however it was also very over priced. There were three of us and we all left hungry because we couldn't afford any more "small plates". I would have liked to try some other plates but we were already well over $50.00/person. I would recommend Libertad to a friend with the qualifier, little food, big prices.

After hearing so many great reviews, I went to Libertad with a group of friends. It's a small restaurant located in a Lincoln Avenue storefront in Skokie. The tables are close and the kitchen is open, so there is a vibrant atmosphere. The cocktail menu is impressive with a Latin flair. I was delighted with my Rhubarb Rosemary rum drink. Because of the noise, when the server ask if I wanted another drink, I said no, but she misunderstood and brought another. It was so delicious, I just let it go. There were about 15 tapas options divided between the appetizer, fish and meat categories. They recommend 2 choices per customer. Everything was delicious...standouts were the acorn squash risotto, crab cake and flank steak. I would go back again.

We made an appointment for 1:30 PM on a Sunday and were surprised to see it was a brunch. As brunches go, it was creative and good, but we did not really want a brunch. Probably our fault for not doing better research. Everything we had was good and creative, with the surprising exception of the pork belly, which was flavorless! How do you make pork belly flavorless?

This was a great place, that we never would have found without the a la card deck. It was really good, slightly playful takes on latin American food. The Horchata cocktail was fascinating, replacing the rice milk with sake. There were many similar mild plays that just took it that one notch up.

The serving of our several different dishes were timed well and service is certainly friendly and efficient. Really surprised by this tiny spot in Skokie. Only a few minutes from our house my husband and I can not wait to go back. Food was amazing. The tempura ploblano was my favorite. This gem of a restaurant. Its menu and vibe are more typical of a city restaurant than a suburban eatery. A variety of different ingredients, sauces and spices are used to create delicious, sophisticated plates that are designed for sharing. We loved everything we tried. The scallops were great but the black rice was so good we wanted to lick the plate. Lamb, skirt steak and crab cakes were also outstanding. And, we are still dreaming about our side of Brussels sprouts. We suburbanites are so lucky to have such a great restaurant near by.

Skokie is lucky to have such a great restaurant. The mushroom and risotto stuffed squash with truffle oil is a must have. Creamy squash, rich risotto with meaty mushrooms is filling and delicious. The crab cakes are not all filler, nice amount of lump crab, and the jalepeno aoli plays nicely against the sweetness of the crab. We loved the lamb stew and pork chop too. There are options for everyone, vegetarians, non meat eaters, and carnivores.
