Really surprised by this tiny spot in Skokie. Only a few minutes from our house my husband and I can not wait to go back. Food was amazing. The tempura ploblano was my favorite. My husband said the pollo dish was one of the best dishes he's ever had. Their signature cocktails were also a lot of fun and really dangerously delicious.

this is my fourth time at the restaurant. My experience when trying to entertain parties of greater than 4-is very poor The restaurant is the size of a bar. Noise level is high I have requested corner tables in the past and that improves the problem. My recommendation is booking a table and hoping that the bar is open Outdoor seatng is highly limited

Three friends and I went to Libertad after a play at Northlight. It was our first visit and we were all delighted with the experience. The food is fantastic; one of my companions described the pork chop as the best she had ever had in her life. I had the poblano pepper and was so happy with all the vegetarian options. We all look forward to returning.

Really pleasant surprise for a restaurant in Skokie. Interesting menu choices for Tapas style eating. Really really loud, making it hard to talk. Food was delicious. Would definitely go back for a local food option in the Burbs.

This gem of a restaurant. Its menu and vibe are more typical of a city restaurant than a suburban eatery. A variety of different ingredients, sauces and spices are used to create delicious, sophisticated plates that are designed for sharing. We loved everything we tried. The scallops were great but the black rice was so good we wanted to lick the plate. Lamb, skirt steak and crab cakes were also outstanding. And, we are still dreaming about our side of Brussels sprouts. We suburbanites are so lucky to have such a great restaurant near by.

Skokie is lucky to have such a great restaurant. The mushroom and risotto stuffed squash with truffle oil is a must have. Creamy squash, rich risotto with meaty mushrooms is filling and delicious. The crab cakes are not all filler, nice amount of lump crab, and the jalepeno aoli plays nicely against the sweetness of the crab. We loved the lamb stew and pork chop too. There are options for everyone, vegetarians, non meat eaters, and carnivores.

We took out of town guests and everyone enjoyed the food. The dishes are creative and the octopus was so fantastic that we had to order a second helping. This is a restaurant where you share all the dishes and everyone was happy with everything. The tuna was well prepared with the outside nicely seared and the inside rare. They have a nice listing of beers. We will definitely return.

This was my second visit--The first time was with a group of girlfriends and this time it was just me and my husband. Both experiences were fantastic. The ambience is great, but the food is so yummy!! The two of us shared the scallops, the flautas, the crabcake and the duck, and all the flavors and components of the dishes were wonderfully delicious. The drinks are really good, too. Will definitely be going back-- I can't wait to introduce more friends to this rare find in the suburbs.

We've been to Libertad many times, and it never disappoints. The food is flavorful, fresh and creative. It's fun to go with a small group so you can share many small plates--everything is so good you want to try it all. Very noisy, if that matters to you. We will return again and again.

We've been to Libertad many times and are never disappointed. The food is great, with portions sizes made for sharing. There is a good variety of dishes that suit all dietary preferences - vegetarian as well as meat lovers. The service is very good, paying attention to when dishes are finished and need to be cleared (and giving fresh plates for the next round). We'll definitely be back!

We went with another couple. It was dark, hard to talk to friends because if noise level. Staff seem to try to move us along and out the door. People waiting at door hanging over our table before we had finished eating. Food was all great but not a lot of it at a high price. Nice to do once or for very special occasion.

Barely visible on a throughway street of Skokie IL, best known for its ordinary bungalows and a Skinhead protest decades ago, lies Libertad. It is a tiny restaurant, moody and dark, like its Latin origins. The food bursts with flavor and inventive combinations, such as baked acorn squash stuffed with luxurious mushroom risotto. The (plentiful) avocado and watercress salad was a showpiece for avocado at its perfect point of ripeness. Our waiter mixed the perfect formula of attentiveness. We are hooked - already scheming on other reasons to head to Skokie and end up there for a meal!

Food was good but service was poor as we had made reservations but the hostess refused to allow us to change tables as she said the others were reserved. We were seated in high traffic area and 2 other tables in a less busy section remained unfilled even though supposedly reserved. Wines were overpriced.

The staff is always FANTASTIC at accomodating all of our needs and the food is always spectacular. Our favorite dish is by far the Veneras (scallops) and we always debate if we should order 4 orders and skip the rest of the menu! The outdoor patio is stunning and perfect for a late summer evening out.

My friends and I had a wonderrful time and did not feel rushed with our selections. Once again, exceptional food and exceptional service.

Everything was very good... Only small comment I have is over pricing. I think $17 for half a baked acorn squash (70 cents in the store) filled with rice (50 cents) and wild mushrooms ($1-2) was a bit excessive. Other dishes, with scallops etc. we're priced about the same so it seemed a bit shameless and brazen on their part.

The food is outstanding. So delicious! When the waitress mentioned the plates were slightly larger than tapas, it made me overorder. 3 dishes for 2 people plus one shared bowl of soup. Also the food was very rich which isn't a bad thing; it was decadent; but you don't need that much of it. I like this place a lot! You won't find these recipes anywhere else. Very artistic cuisine.

As you drive thru downtown Skokie, it's easy to miss this hidden gem. The exterior is beautiful but dark and easy to miss. But it is definitely worth the hunt. Food was creative and delicious. Inside the atmosphere is bustling with excitement. It's a restaurant you would expect to find in Lincoln square or Lincoln Park, not in Skokie. Can't wait to go back. We had the octpus, duck in spicy nectarine salsa and acorn squash stuffed with rice, mushrooms and truffle oil. Each dish was amazing.

My only complaint is that the past two visits, I have left with an awful grease smell in my clothes, hair, coat, etc. I really hope Libertad will fix their ventilation system soon; otherwise, I'm not sure I'll go back!

We were three people and ordered four different plates which were sufficient for us. The octopus was outstanding and very fresh. I would've liked it to have less potatoes though. The asada was out of this world. Very juicy and super tender. The best was the duck, it had a lot of flavors and the meat will melt in your mouth. The pear was ok, not my favorite after tasting the other three dishes. The place is really small and it gets very smelly so make sure to bring clothes that you don't mind getting stinky. The cocktails are really good too. I ordered the Margarita and it was very fresh and traditional-make. Definitely a restaurant that I will visit more than once.

I thought the food was alright but the prices were way high in my opinion. $19 for 2 scallops (though delicious) was way out of line . The steak (ordered medium rare) was not tender. The chicken flautas were dry and tasteless. $10 for a 4oz sangria was outrageous. I can see the appeal for the lively atmosphere but after seeing it on Check Please where they said the average tab without drinks per person was $25 was misleading since the average cost of entrees was $15. I'm glad I went but will not be going back.
