  • Cross Street: Wisconsin Avenue
  • Public Transit: Friendship Heights metro (red line) located 1 block away on cross streets Western Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue. Walk one block north on Wisconsin Avenue to Willard and we are at 4435 Willard Avenue in the Ritz-Carlton building. Look for our outdoor patio and red awnings.

  • Parking Details: Valet parking ($8) available after 5pm. Reduced rate self park with validation available for both lunch and dinner. Use Chase Tower Parking Garage. Entrance is just around the corner from LIA'S on The Hills Plaza Road. Look for the red LIA'S Parking sign. The lot is below the restaurant. Take elevator to main lobby and exit the main doors. LIA'S is just to the left.

  • "This was our first visit to Lia's although we had been at Chef Geoff's Rockville location many times. The decor at Lia's is frugal. We ordered lamb burger and Bronzino. For appetizer we ordered picked mushroom and marinated artichokes. To top off our dining experience we shared icecream trio -- pistachio, smokes cherry and white chocolate. All in all, we were happy."

  • "OT, The pasta with artichokes was superb. While eating it, my guest was trying to decide when we could come back so she could have it again and I could try it! The cobb salad was okay but served more like a regular green tossed salad, not chopped in small pieces so you could get all the ingredients' taste at once. The grill chicken I added was tasty and ample.The cocktails were excellent, particularly the gin and tonic which came with the perfect mix of the requested Tanqueray Gin and tonic. We ate outside and the service was excellent and our server highly personable and prompt without being intrusive. Kathleen Kester"

  • "I treated two girlfriends from New York I've known for 50 years to dinner at Lia's when they came for a visit to DC last week. Dinner was spectacular! The waiter was attentive and informative. Everyone went over and above to be sure we had a great time. Did I say the food was phenomenal? It was! We had Caesar salad and veggie lasagna and dessert. I would not hesitate to recommend Lia's. One note...I had heard that the dining room was noisy but the night we were there, there really was no noise. We had a wonderful conversation over a great meal."

  • "Celiacs - my wife was carelessly glutened due to poor management and waiter training. We stated her allergy up front and requested the gluten-free menu. She ordered a gluten-free beer and when it arrived I asked the waiter to double check that it was indeed an Omission gluten-free beer. He came back and said that it was, but then a couple of minutes later, the manager showed up and told her not to drink the beer. My wife had already had several sips. Then, after asking to confirm which desserts were gluten-free, the sorbet arrived with biscotti on the plate. The manager was embarrassed, and should have been, however, he made no adjustment to our bill. We have been regular visitors for two years, but I can't imagine we would trust them again"

  • "We dined outside and had a very good time. Service is quick and careful. Salmon was refectory cooked and the bolognese pasta were amazing. Bottle of wine half price because it was Monday gave us the opportunity to pick an excellent Italian wine at an affordable price of $24. Will come back for sure"

  • "We have eaten there twice before. It will be the last. We wanted a quiet table outside. Because there was a 20% chance of rain they made us sit under the overhang. They said it was their "policy." When people talk like that they indicate that they will not rationally look at the individuality of a situation. Their policy made us sit in a very loud section. We said we'd take our 80% chance that it wouldn't rain. It didn't rain. We could not hear each other talking so the meal was a flop. My son did not get his ordered drink. A very bad experience."

  • "I had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli and it was delicious. Service was top notch from greeting to coffee. Only complaint was the noise level made conversation very difficult. Regardless I still highly recommend."

  • "I took a friend to dinner at Lia's on a Tuesday night and we both enjoyed the experience. Service was outstanding, although we were sitting outside. We had gazpacho, mussels, and branzino entree - all were excellent. They also offer an intriguing cocktail list with several gin-based choices. Oh, did I mention sorbet? Will be back soon for sure!"

  • "Went to Lia's for Father's Day. Food was very good. Reasonable as well. Service was particularly outstanding. Our server, Sarah, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic (but overly so), and attentive. The latter is especially important because our party included one person with specific food allergies and Sarah was very careful to note that and provide assurance that the kitchen would be notified."

  • "My wife, adult daughter and I went for dinner at 8:30. We were seated outside and were ignored for 15 minutes. I notified the hostess and a few minutes later our server arrived with menus. The manager came to our table to apologize for our wait, and asked us to let him know if there were any further problems. Unfortunately he was nowhere to be found when subsequent problems arose. The server was terse, she placed our wine glasses (3) randomly and incorrectly, she did not provide any spoons when she gave us our coffee at the end of the meal, and her service was mediocre at best."

  • "We ventured slightly beyond home turf to Lia's in Friendship Heights, and don't know why it took so long. We'll definitely be back- perhaps on half-price wine Mondays. So many intriguing choices, hard to decide. My calamari were among the best I've had, though would prefer more marinara vs. the icky sweet chili sauce. Scallop risotto also scrumptious. Bronzino was not as expected - pieces leaning over a mound of greens, rather dry, and too much balsalmic. Wide ranging wine list, with the house tempranillo a pleasant surprise at a value price. Service was attentive and just the right balance of friendly and professional. If you want to have a conversation, inside much quieter than outside. Beware:They validate only their own parking lot."

  • "Was not sure what to expect just know how much I really like Chef Geoff downtown and in Tyson. Maybe I should have read more about the difference in the menu which translated to the venue. Food was over under or over cooked and just didn't satisfy the expectation."

  • "We couldn't decide what this was: a cafeteria with wait staff? A Denny's with wine and beer? It's not fine dining. Uninspired but not inexpensive food: Overcooked fish. Sad salad greens. Run-of-the-mill pasta. The decor hasn't been touched since the 1980s - other than a plywood painted wall (is it supposed to be art?) and some urban light fixtures out of place with the other tired fixtures. Loud. Staff had a hard time getting in and out of the enormous wine fridge mid-restaurant. In the half empty restaurant on a Friday night a parent and three kids played cards while the other 3 adults at the same table talked; many tables of gray-haired customers and a fuller patio. At least the canine diner there looked happy. Our waiter was quick."

Our server may have been new but that's no excuse for poor service. In addition, we saw and heard many plate being sent back to the kitchen from those seated around us."

  • "I have been to Lia's many times, for lunch and dinner. The food is always good; so is the service. I like the scallops and the vegetable lasagna. It has a nice atmosphere. The prices are reasonable. Having valet parking is surely a plus, but there is also a parking garage nearby which makes it convenient."

  • "My Fiance and I love the Lia's and Chef Geoff's restaurants. Always a good meal and I love trying something different every time I go from the bacon bar to the donut holes for dessert. I love the small things on the menu that you would not expect like popcorn appetizer which is awesome by the way. Good wine selection also! We go at least once a month! We also had a really good waitress at Lia's that had just moved to the area but you could tell she had a ton of experience and really made us feel like we were at home."

  • "My husband and I have been eating at Lia's for years and it's our go to restaurant when we want a decent meal out. It also seems to be fit most occasions as it can be casual and we've attended parties there. My husband rarely varies from their mushroom pizza, but I skip around the menu and appreciate the fact they have small plates to mix and match. It's a great spot to sit outside on a nice day to have a glass of wine, and we prefer their patio to their inside dining. Two things that are a bit negative: they are a bit snooty if you don't have a reservation, so even if you decide to go 15 minutes before, just make a reservation on open table first. Also. they will not take reservations/requests ahead for their outside seating. "

  • "Really enjoyed an early evening dinner on the patio with a friend. The 3-course meal was a great deal, with salad & dessert regular sized and easy to share. There were some interesting food choices to enjoy as well. I would definitely come back."

  • "Went on Saturday night with friends. Sat outside. Drinks were good as was ability to enjoy outdoor seating on a beautiful night. Other than that, was not the solid food and service that I've enjoyed on prior visits. Took a long time to order, for water to come to table, for bread to come to table, etc ... The soup was waaaaaay to salty, and both people who ordered it sent it back. And then they got my wife's dinner wrong. By that time, was too late to send back, though they still charged us full price for her meal. Hoping this is not the new normal here as it's been my favorite dining spot in that neighborhood. "

  • "Chef Goeff knows how to do a restaurant right. The service is excellent, and food always good. We had fish; rock fish with a tasty vegetable dish under it, salmon , and our son ordered a sandwich. Everyone was happy with the meal. Although, the restaurant features a beautiful wall of wine , the wine list is a bit lacking. The chardonnay list was short and did not have premium chardonnays, the reds were better. We were pleased to discover that they had a Gluten Free menu and the salmon dish I was planning to order was also no that menu. "

  • "We were not seated at a nice table, waited for a very long time for our food and one of the meals had a half thawed soft boiled egg...I guess they start out frozen? (not the sign of haute cuisine certainly), and if that's the best you can do at least make sure it's properly thawed/heated once it comes out, finally it was Mother's Day so yes frustrating and will make other arrangements next year! "

  • "Made a reservation for a party of 6. We were seated in a tight corner located in a back room off the main dining area. Absolutely no ambience. Most of the dishes lacked flavor. My burger was burned and my kids steaks were over cooked. Would only return for happy hour which is good and a great deal. Our server, Ben was nice and attentive, however. It might have been an off night. As it was an extremely busy Friday night and perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed. "
