Diner Reviews
  • "My experience at LG's Prime Steakhouse, can be summed up with one ugly word,...DISCRIMINATION!! I am VERY upset, and considering legal action! I was greeted by a rather haggard looking woman in a yellow short sleeved blouse, with skulls all over it. She said that there was a dress code, and that I could not dine there, in a sleeveless shirt. As she spoke, I noticed a woman in a sleeves top! I was wearing fitted jeans, Stacy Adams Boots, and a Versace sleeveless shirt...dressed for the heat, but by no means inappropriate. I went to change, then returned. Once seated, near the rest rooms, I saw a parade of men in gym shorts, sneakers, and baseball caps! Which are pretty much the standard, in Palm Springs, UNLESS you happen to be BLACK!"

  • "I ordered L.G.'s Jewel - their porterhouse steak. For the price (over $50.00) it should have been perfect, but was just good, My wife had the 8oz filet. Again good, but not what one would expect from an expensive steakhouse. We've been here before, but this will be out last visit. There are just too many other area restaurants that are a better value."

  • "On vacation in Palm Springs, craving a steak, thought this would be a great choice. Overall the food was decent, There was extremely good and so-so. The service on the other hand....Terrible. Our table-side Caesar was prepared by a supervisor or manager, and he was great , as were the bussers. The biggest let down was our server. No explanation of anything, no personality, and literally it took him 20 minutes to approach our table. The restaurant did not seem busy as our reservation was for 8 pm, and we saw him a total of 2 times the entire meal. It was so bad, we would not go back. For the prices and ambiance you expect great food and service, They did not deliver on the service aspect."

  • "Go to Ruth's Chris or even outback for a more flavorful steak. The steak here was subpar and we had to order sauces to put on them to add some flavor to it. Definitely a waste of money"

  • "What I like is the call reminder about your reservation 3 hours before your reservation time. The excellent accommodations when we arrived feels like you're VIP. Then the food was so great specially the steak."

  • "I have been to all their locations over the years. It had been awhile since we have been to the Palm Springs location and this would be the last. We ordered a $100 2008 Cab from their fairly expensive wine list and they brought the 2010 ignoring the comment when I noted it."

  • "Had dinner at LG's last week in Palm Springs. Made a resy for 5:30pm. They don't get busy during the week until around 7pm as we found out. The shrimp cocktail was good. Four very large and meaty shrimp. However, the shrimp were served warm, which I don't like. It may have been that they just didn't chill them long enough, as the holder was ice packed. Steaks were very good. The au gratin potatoes, lacked any flavor whatsoever. The caesar salad made table side was a neat treat and very good. However way too much Parmesan cheese. We hadn't been to LG's before so we wanted to try it. It was worth a visit but not a repeat trip."

  • "This was our third visit to the Steakhouse and again the food was delicious and people watching wonderful. Staff was accommodating when we asked for the heat lamp to be turned on and the night was another enjoyable evening of patio dining and people watching"

  • "Last time I went to LGs I had the best steak in my life. At over $50 for the steak alone, it was worth it. This time, my steak was merely ok— not good for a steak that was over $50. But more than that, everything was ridiculously expensive. I'll pay for quality, especially for great steak and cocktails, but I felt like I was getting nickel and dime'd for everything. Bottom line, the steak was fine, but definitely not worth the outrageous prices."

  • "Very large portions. My husband and I had the kabobs. We could have shared one plate and still had leftovers. Our waiter spoke with a very strong accent that made it difficult for us to understand him so in our awkwardness I feel we did not get the best service. However, then I looked around at the other waiters and realized that they weren't necessarily any better. And no manager presence in the place. It was a Tuesday, but seriously, we get better service at the Red Lobster down the street. We don't care bout the money... Only that the food is good and the service is genuine."

  • "We have been to LG's serveral times... did not feel this experience was up to prior standards. My Ribeye steak, which I have had several times before, seemed 'downsized' and of lesser quality. While good, it was not as I had expected. The support staff (bussers) were too visible, noisy, bumped my chair frequently when resetting and serving adjacent tables and dropped trays, glasses and other items due their haste. They need to SLOW DOWN and focus on guests - not the rapid resetting of tables. I also like more intereaction with my 'waiter' beyond giving an order and getting th bill. Where was he during the meal?"

  • "Being from New Orleans, we are long term Ruth's Chris fans. While Chris's is great, LG provided the best steak meal we've ever had. Great service too!"

  • "Really enjoyed both the food and the outdoor dining on Palm Canyon Drive. We started with the Caesar salad which they make table side and then I had steak and lobster tails. Fantastic!"

  • "I bought the most expensive steak on the menu and I was sorely disappointed. It did not come close to meeting my expectations. I could have gotten a better steak at just about any roadside restaurant and saved 100 bucks. Fooled me once but will not fool me twice."

  • "Food, service, wine... excellent. Worth going to for a special occasion or no occasion at all. Note that Thursdays on Palm Canyon Dr. is a street fair. There is no parking to include valet. Make sure you arrive very early to secure a space somewhere. Eat early then enjoy the street fair"

  • "This is the third year in a row we make it a point to come to Palm Springs and have dinner at LG's for my birthday. The food has always been excellent and the service is top notch. See you again next year."

  • "A famous steakhouse seemed an appropriate place to celebrate that special birthday dinner. W wee seated at a mediocre table after requesting one with a view. It didn't seem crowded. But, 1/2 an hour waiting for a shrimp cocktail and another 1/2 an hour for a very basic meal, and I had waited long enough. We had the food the next day, and I found the quality underwhelming even accounting for the re-warming. The staff did their best to explain the delay and to apologize, but it was a little too little, too late. It was, however, very nice of the manager to throw in a piece of "birthday cake." Unfortunately, I'm gluten intolerant, but the gesture wasn't lost on me. Still, I wouldn't go back when the competition is so robust."

  • "My wife and I travel to the Palm Springs area several times a year and have been doing so for many years. We have made LG's one of our regular stops for a special dinner. There are a lot of good places to eat in the Palm Springs area but we keep coming back to LG's. Their filet mignon is some of the best I've had."

  • "Great as usual. Service and food always top notch at the downtown LG's."

  • "We had 5pm reservation and didn't want to be late. We were lucky to find a parking spot behind the restaurant. The doors opened exactly at 5. We had a table on the patio along the curb.....perfect for people watching. We were greeted promptly and offered drinks. We got screwdrivers and the bartender was generous with the vodka. Our waiter answered any and all our questions. We got the stuffed mushroom appetizer followed by salads. My wife claims its the best Cesar she has ever had. She ordered a filet and I got the prime rib(end cut) and they were both awesome. We got potato side dishes and ended with creme brûlée. It was a great dining experience."

  • "We have been having dinner with the LG's family for many years following our long bike ride with the Tour de Palm Springs. Every year we bring with us more friends and family to share our love of LG's. We live in Santa Fe, New Mexico now, and still make the trek to Palm Springs and LG's for a little slice of heaven! Thank you, Henry and Susan McCormick Santa Fe, NM"

  • "There were 8 of us ranging in age from 29 to 65; a diverse mix of ethnicity and food preference. We had meat lovers, a pescietarian and 2 vegetarians. Everyone was pleased with their food, especially the steak lovers. Steak is definitely top of the list! The sides were large and presented well and completed the meal. We will go back."

  • "I have eaten at LGs 7-8 times or more in the past 10 years, so I think my opinion is credible. Last night I took my parents (my mother 77 and father 87 and my wife and I 58) we had an excellent experience as I have had many times past. The only dent was the service My father asked for his bone-in fillet medium-well,it was perfect! My medium-rare bone-in New York came medium-well, oops, but that was the exception My wife and mother ordered the bone-in Rib-eye medium, to split, which was awesome! A lot of the best steak you may ever eat!"

  • "This place can be reviewed pretty briefly. Good steaks, average sides, nice ambience, good waiters who are a bit too talky. Good, but I didn't think it was extraordinary. Have been to lots of similar restaurants. I will return, but I can't rave about it."

  • "The Prime Rib was tough for the price I paid, and the amount of wine poured out by my Server-Javier into my wife's glass was less than what I saw poured into other peoples glasses."

  • "Went for Christmas Eve prime rib dinner. The prime rib wasn't all that good, too fatty, undercooked - had to send it back and it still came back rare instead of medium. Service was spotty and just not the special dinner we had been looking forward to. Not as good as it's reported to be, rather adequate is the best I can say."

  • "We had a reservation for my Birthday which is New Years Eve. Will keep it short and simple: Awful waiter, undercooked meal, no organization WHATSOEVER and Restaurants Managers running around apologizing to their guests for the long wait on their meals. LG cannot offer their full menu for New Years Eve. The kitchen is not capable for the guest capacity. They should have had three - five entree choices and leave it with that.. Got there at 8:30 PM and left mad at 9:00 PM ! Best part ? Before we left I had to use the ladies room. While I was gone, our waiter had the nerve to bring a slice of Birthday cake..While I was not even sitting at the table...Never again...."

  • "Dinner at LG's is a "must" every time I visit Palm Springs. I love the atmosphere....but mostly the beautiful steaks!!! Outstanding service and food is just superb. I watched a Caesar Salad being prepared at the next table, the decided I'd have to order that the next visit. Loved It - Again!!!"
