A word from Lewy Nines CAFÉ at River City Casino & Hotel
With a respectful and decidedly playful nod to King Louis IX of France, this irreverent and elegant retro-twist on the classic ‘50"s diner features a more fashionable edge to the traditional diner look, plus a menu of café classics sure to satisfy comfort-food cravings for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Black alligator-skin counter stools line a unique curved countertop in the 110-seat dining room, complete with traditional vinyl booths, tables and chairs, where guest can indulge in classic breakfast skillets, fluffy Belgian waffles and pancakes. Or, enjoy delicious lunch and dinner offerings ranging from homemade soups, “big salads” and hearty sandwiches to traditional spaghetti and meatballs, crispy fish ‘n’ chips, and chicken pot pie. Featured menu items include 1904 World’s Fair favorites, such as meatloaf with mashed potatoes, and Wiener schnitzel.

Decor is plain and the menu was nothing special but the food quality and taste was extremely good and prices were reasonable. The prime rib was a bit rarer than expected but was done well enough thhat it was not worth sending back and the au jus was excellent. Portions generous as well.

Our first time at this restaurant was in August of 2012 and with a large group. We had a good experience. Good service & food. We returned in March of 2014 for our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was as we remembered it and service was ok. This time we both ordered the bacon wrapped filet and it was very disappointing. Small in size & not tasty at all. Even the bacon wasn't good. Broccoli was not edible. We did not tell our server we were not happy with the quality of the food and we left disappointed. I think we may return someday but will not order the filets.

I usually give a restaurant a second and third chance if my first meal was bad, but there was not one good thing about 5 different meals so I will not be back. I had chicken parm, which was deep fried beyond recognition, sauce to the pasta tasted like it came straight from the can and was cold. My spouse had the half roasted chicken which was cold, no flavor and the broccoli had a funny mineral taste, the other guests had soup and the salads and one sandwich which was okay. The cream to the coffee curdled. The desserts were adequate in size and flavor. The service was slow and we rarely saw our server, even though she did warn us she had a table of 11. I expected a lot more out of this place.

It would have been helpful to know how large portions were,so that we would not have had soup and salad. We were so full from soup and salad that we could not eat our entrees. We ordered a cup of soup and it came in soup bowl and the queen size salad was meal sized. We were going to a concert and were not able to take our doggie bags. It was disappointing that our soup, salad and crab cakes came all ot once after a very long wait. The food was tasty. The turtle soup should have been named beef stew. The menu did stated that no turtles were harmed but it never stated the meat was beef not turtle. This was not clear to me with the menu description. Also, because smoking is allowed in the building it was quite smokey.

What can you say when the best thing about your meal is the diet soda, since it was the only thing that tasted like what it was called. BBQ shrimp with enough cayenne pepper that you can only eat one is more like blackened shrimp and shrimp scampi over buttered garlic pasta should not have a cup of olive oil on it. The gumbo had one shrimp in it and no other proteins whatsoever (heck, I would have been excited to see a piece of hot dog). Even the garlic toast was just a large crouton. Seriously disappointed. They could put a Long John Silvers in it's place and do better.

The food is excellent and I have been there many, many times BUT no matter when I have been there, from breakfast to dinner the service is very, very slow. The servers are always nice and pleasant, but there is always a wait, unusually long wait and it does not matter whether they are busy are not the service is always consistent, slow. I would never plan on eating there if I had an appointment to get to, it is not a place you want to go if you are in a rush....but again the food is fantastic and portions are hugh.

Although the Service was very good, the place was fairly empty for our early dinner (5:00 PM. on a Friday night) The construction that was presently going on was a bit of a distraction as was the announcements of winners from the game floor over the loudspeaker system. The Food was excellant! The boothes are very comfortable. My wife and I like the open air type high cielings. Would recommend to anyone.

I ordered the roast beef sandwich that the bun had a few hard spots on. My wife ordered the crab cake that came out the first time soo over cooked that it was solid all the way through on one end and was totally unfit to eat. The waiter did bring another plate for my wife that was cooked properly, but the first never should have left the kitchen just by the burnt color.

Lewy Nines is actually decent food, its good if you plan an evening at the casino but arent looking for a real dining experience. The menu is easy and the food was all cooked properly and looked good on the plate, good food temps, tasted good not fantastic, huge portions, really cant complain, but just good for a nice quick diner or lunch. It is always quiet there, the other resturants in the casino get more attention and seem to either be a hopping bar/resturant or a fine dining resturant. I would recommend for sure, just dont book it for a special evening or if your a foodie. I have not tried the other resturants yet, but if they have the same level of quality and service they will be great! Tip- the wraps are good!

This was our 3rd trip and they have all been the about the same. The food is good not great, The service is sooooooo slow and has been every time. They have been trained to do everything a certain way but they should look at ways to speed things up. Ask for a refill on a drink and they are gone for as long as 5 minutes. We requested extra tartar sauce for a fish sandwich but the sandwich was cold by the time the tartar sauce arrived.

There were six in our party; the reservation was perfectly executed. We all ordered soups - which were good - but our entrees arrived before we were finished with our first course. If appropriate, the server shouldn't place the order with the kitchen until the first course is sufficiently underway. Everyone ordered different entrees. Mine (meatloaf plate) arrived burned. It was completely dried out and black on top. The chef and/or the server should have observed it wasn't servable. The manager did remove my entree charge.
