Level Small Plates LoungeGreat for a dateWent this past Saturday night and had a great time. Like the atmosphere, service, and food. Ordered five different dishes and liked everything. the beet salad was very good and so were the cuban pork spring rolls. Glad we ordered dessert. Homemade ice creams were wonderful.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly enjoyableGreat, fun meal. Highlights were the Tuna Tartare and the Cucumber Margaritas.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Tremendous small plates, very unique offerings, tasty, tasty food - loved sitting in the area that is open to the street, it was as close to dining outdoors as you can do without actually dining outdoors - the garlic seasoned French fry plate to share is a must!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional service and food! This absolutely goes down in my book as one of the most outstanding, exceptional dining experiences I've ever had! I made the reservation on Open Table and called to follow up to make sure they could accomodate our group of 10 adults and 6 kids, especially with so many kids. The woman who I spoke to was very cheerful and helpful and said they were looking forward to having us. The food was outstanding--very fresh and local! What made our experience so great, however, was our server Lorien. Her service was EXCEPTIONAL! From taking pictures for us, to making sure everyone always had a full glass and a full plate, she was very personable and went above and beyond to make our experience top notch. Thank you Lorien! We will be back for sure!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant and uniqueGreat local foods and a wonderful dining experience. The plates are small and delicious and the drinks are amazing.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as alwaysThis was the third or fourth time I'd eaten at Level and tried a few of the new menu items. The Korean Duck Tacos were very tasty and a nice start to the meal. I also tried the bacon and scallop flatbread pizza with garlic sauce and Old Bay seasoning. It was well prepared and the Old Bay was not overdone, however the star of the pizza was the thick cut bacon slices. Delicious.
We went with a couple stand-bys that didn't dissappoint. The garlic fries were again exceptional as was the tuna tartare.
Save room for the chocolate and banana bread pudding -- too good to pass up.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWell Executed ConceptI don't know why more restaurants aren't doing a small plate concept. A very enjoyable way to taste a number of flavors w/o having to eat a full dinner. We went with our kids (who are adventurous eaters) and we were wondering if the place would be too hip for kids but the hostess was welcoming enough (although they stashed us in back corner).
Their craft cocktails were very good if a little light on the actual alcohol in the drink. Wine list short but well thought out. The plates were definitely very good. Didn't knock our socks off but very tasty, very solid. Good, friendly service from our waitress.
I would absolutely recommend Level, particularly as a change of pace from more traditional Annapolis seafood places.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM"Level" = HIGH!Found "Level" on the internet. We attend Rams Head for concerts frequently and needed additional eating options close by. We made an early reservation - and got there early. The owner? was very attentive and showed us to our table until they officially opened. Within a few minutes, the waiter came by and started a great dining experience. We all tried the cocktail of the day - a Cucumber Margarita, unique and refreshing. Interesting / broad choices of gourmet food on small plates started to roll out - check out the menu online. Although pricey - 4 of us spent >$200 including a tip and 5 drinks, 2 shared deserts (mint choc chip ice cream was killer), and coffee - it was a great experience, great service, & we'll be back to try/share more5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointingThe drinks are always inventive and tasty, and the food is always delicious. I feel like the small plates are a tad overpriced, but it wouldn't stop me from coming into enjoy the food. The staff is friendly, too.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the approach to food.Love the approach to food. Have only dined at Levels once but I anticipate that my experience will improve as I explore their offerings and get to know my favorites. Cuban pork spring rolls, Seared Lamb and milk and cookies are already on the favorite lists. Clean and comfortable, casual and enjoyable. Top notch for Annapolis dining.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrustrating HostessI just went here for the first time. The atmosphere and food were great, but the hostess was very frustrating. I had a reservation, but when I entered the restaurant, it took almost 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that I was there. (I was standing directly in front of the hostess but was ignored). The waitstaff was great.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & Service - a little loudThe table was ready ahead of my reservation, but I was waiting for others, so I sat at the bar for a few minutes. The bartender was prompt in taking care of me. The bar is not huge, but they do have a fairly large collection of beers, wines and liquors. When seated, the waiter took a few minutes to address us, but was there just enough to be helpful without being annoying the rest of the meal. The soup of the day was certainly different - very tangy, which was not described perfectly, but was still ok. The plates that we tried were all very good. The dishes were simple, but good. They have a wide selection of Gluten Free choices, Prices may seem a little high for what you get, but food and service were very good. Only complaint: it got loud5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI love that they use localI love that they use local ingredients, and you can tell they do. I also love the creative mixed drinks.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOn the LevelThe Level is one of our favorite Annapolis places. Just beyond the action of historic Annapolis, but still within walking distance, the small plates menu never fails. From the duck spring rolls to the flat breads to the brussel sprouts, the food is always excellent. They have a fun drink menu too!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good food, and great drinksThe food is all sourced locally. The mixed drinks are their own inventions and are all really fresh and good, stuff that I would never have thought of. The place can get loud because of the hardwood floors and brick walls, but its fine with me. They have small plates of food so you can have variety. The food is done right. This has been our favorite place to go to. Its more for the hipster or foodie crowd.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, Great serviceThe food was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly, had great taste and is all farm to table. The staff was knowledgable and gave friendly service.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOUTSTANDING ADVENTUROUS DININGFOR AN OUTSTANDING EVENING OF ADVENTUROUS DINING ONE MUST TRY LEVEL RESTAURANT ON WEST ST. IN ANNAPOLIS. THE MULTIPLE SELECTIONS AVAILABLE FOR SHARING GIVES NEW MEANING TO WONDERFUL PALATE PLEASING TASTES THAT WILL BRING YOU BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN TO SAVOR THOSE YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO TRY.
CHEF JOSH BROWN IS TO BE COMMENDED FOR HIS CREATIVITY IN PROVIDING SO MANY SUCCULENT CHOICES.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious as alwaysWe ate there at 830pm on Saturday night and it was bustling with the typical trendy crowd. Thanks to OpenTable we walked right in and received the last table available. The tuna tartare is spectacular, spicy and tender. The rest of the food was amazing as well, but the fries left a little something to be desired (but who goes there for the fries anyway). It's always pretty loud at those peak evening times (there is nothing soft in the room to dampen the voices carrying) but the food far outweighs that.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was just fabulous!!!The food was just fabulous!!! We brought our two children. They did fine, but go early if you have kids. We strongly recommend Level! Will be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMsmall platesI have enjoyed Level in the past, sitting at the bar, where you can watch the bartenders work their magic. However, this time, I had a table next to the server station, which was a parade all night of busy activity and not so appealing. The music was also louder than I was able to talk over so I felt like I was having to really work at being heard. I'd like to give it another try because the menu is so inventive, creative and fresh local produce, so that part I love, but they will have to step up and maybe put up a screen or something for a bit more privacy.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious but ChillyThe Tuna Tartare was out of this world fabulous and the chocolate chip banana bread pudding was delicious too! The door was open for most of our dining experience and although it let in fresh air, it was pretty chilly inside and we actually had to move our table to another part of the restaurant. Overall, it was still a great night!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything was great, oureverything was great, our table was ready in the vibrant bar area. The service was outstanding, always there when we needed something. Owner stopped by the table to thank us for having dinner with them that evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMdefinitely visit this eateryOur first time here, and like the menu - eclectic, imaginative and clearly lots of other people love this place too!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time experienceWent for a birthday party. Seating was conducive to group eating. Liked that there was just enough food for one but could be shared with more. No need for doggy bag. Great prices.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery NoiseyWe had very good service, but we were seated near the bar & couldn't hear what one another way saying. If we return, we will sit elsewhere.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOver the Top!Food quality at Level is 'over the top'! Besides the freshest ingredients, the combinations of flavors, textures and plate presentation is outstanding. This is now the ONLY restaurant we go to for dinner when visiting Annapolis.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved It!This was our first time to dine at Level, and we loved it. The food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back and bringing people the next time we're in Annapolis.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe drinks were great, allThe drinks were great, all the small plates we ordered were fantastic and the service was very good.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, but the serviceExcellent food, but the service was slow and it felt like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great and serviceFood was great and service was very sharp. We ordered many different dishes and everyone loved them all.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the tapas (4) that weAll the tapas (4) that we shared on this first visit were delicious. Our favorites were the shrimp and grits and the duck confit. We would like to return with a larger group to try a bigger variety. Service was very fast and efficient. Wish we lived closer to Annapolis!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointed!Level is always a good time. We find the food to be fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. This visit we were seated upstairs, very nice. We order two small plates at a time and share them. We ended up ordering seven different items, got to taste a variety of foods, and were very pleased with our choices. Grilled calamari with crispy capers is a favorite. The lamb dish that was a take on a gyro was very tasty. Beet salad; excellent! Shrimp & grits; spicy! Eggplant; awesome! We also enjoy their risotto and since it can be a heavy dish anyway, we always order it last. No room for dessert! It does get busy (and noisy)on a Friday night, we did not have any issues with service, our sever was pleasant and patient, meal was well paced.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent small plates restaurant.Excellent small plates restaurant. We ordered 8-9 plates and each was excellent.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food !We were on holidays in Annapolis and saw the review for this restaurant in Yelp. The food was fantastic as my wife and I shared 5 dishes which were all freshly made and tasted delicious (the scallop flatbread was a standout). We also had a nice wine (a Worthy cab sauv). The deserts were very tasty and capped off a great meal. Overall, highly recommended !3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat farm-to-table artisanGreat farm-to-table artisan tappas. However, expect to pay a hefty premium. We go there only for special occasions, but the food and specialty cocktails are both delicious.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMi had a reservation @ 7:30pm,i had a reservation @ 7:30pm, was told my table would be ready in a few more minutes. 15 minutes later i asked again about our table as there was a 6 top in front of us that was empty since we arrived as well as two four tops with no one seated. i was told again they were waiting on one table to open up then we would be seated. @ 8:00pm the hostess came and told me they would be putting an extra seat at the end of one of the two empty four tops. by this time three other two tops had opened up as well. i explained that this was unnaceptable, i was told the other tables were for reservations. i questioned her choice of words and explained that we needed to be seated. i was seated promptly after and from there in the evening was wonderful.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery dish was very good.Every dish was very good. Enjoyed the place very much.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery thing we had was excellentEvery thing we had was excellent and we had a hard time trying to decide which dish was best. There was more on the menu we wanted to try, but as it was we were all very full by the time we left. We would easily go back when we are in Annapolis again.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome FoodThe food was awesome, especially if you like locally sourced food. Only negative is sitting near the door when it's cold outside...can get a bit drafty; the food and service make up for this though.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
