  • "While I take myself to Leunig's regularly, I make sure to take my house guests to this local institution. It never disappoints!"

  • "The ambiance was very nice; comfortable, relaxing and unhurried. Service was very good. I find their prices a bit steep for the area, but the food was good."

  • "this was my second visit to L. It won;t be my last. Both the food and service memorable."

  • "Good service, good food and we had a great window table overlooking Church St. Tables were very close together, but had nice people next to us that we chatted with, so made the experience enjoyable. We would definitely go back."

  • "I come to Burlington at least twice a year. Leunig is an absolute must for my friends and I. The food and service are always impeccable and I just love the decor and French ambiance. The music backround is always subtle and well selected. The $10 daily special is worth a try. Very good by the glass wine selection."

  • "Just before I left Vermont to move to Michigan18 months ago, my daughter and I enjoyed a bottle of pinot grigio and the charcuterie plate. I can't say how many times over the past 16 years I'd eaten at Leunig's. But, it's always been my favorite restauarant; either to dine alone or with family and friends. Just this week, I was able to fly back to Burlington and the one place I wanted to go was Leunig's. I actually made reservations from my home in Michigan for myself and a friend. It was as if I never left Burlington once I opened the door and was led inside to my favorite little table. My friend ordered the salmon which was sweet and moist. I had to have a taste. And, of course, I ordered the charcuterie which I kept all to myself."

  • "We are from Canada and every single time we visit Burlington, we eat at least once at Leunigs. Thank you for delicious food away from home and fantastic service. See you soon!"

  • "This is a good lunch and brunch spot, especially in the summer when you are seated outside. The location on Church Street is spectacular. Although the dinner menu prices may lead you to believe so, this is not a "fine dining" restaurant. Service is friendly and attentive."

  • "Never disappoints. Service with a smile, delicious food, wonderful cocktails and great wine menu. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two or having a meal with friends."

  • "My son will be graduating in May from UVM, so we've been coming to Burlington for 4 years now, Leunig's quickly became our favorite restaurant, and has never disappointed, whether dining outside in the warmer weather, or inside in one of their cozy rooms or at the bar. The food never disappoints, from traditional French favorites, to the wonderful cheese platter (the cherry compote and homemade crackers are my favorite!), and the perfect creme brulee. Service has always been excellent; these folks are professional bartenders/waiters/waitresses/ and hosts/hostesses, and never disappoint."

  • "The food was great, as always. Have never had a bad meal. Meals show attention to details and creativity. A taste sensation. Any drawback is the tight quarters and noisy environment during peak dining hours."

  • "Leunig's is our favorite Church Street eaterie. Love the ambience and service. Food is very good and reliable. However, the last two times we ordered the steak frites we did not receive a steak. That is, the meat was not a classical steak cut typical of French bistro steaks. It was long, boneless, very thick and tube-shaped and looked like it was cut from the eye of the round, a classic roast, not steak. Does not have the flavor of a steak, no marbleing, tough, no sizzle. Went to the supermarket the next day and there it was...eye of the round. It is not fair to call any old piece of beef a steak. Steak is a cut of meat (thick, flat) and connotes certain parts of the cow (sirloin, flank, hanger). One would never be served that cut in Paris!"

  • "What can I say that hasn't already been said? I love this place. The beef bourguignon is incredible. The only down side to eating it is running out of it!"

  • "Just top of the line for food, atmosphere, service...Everything! Highly recommended."

  • "The food was exceptional, and being a vegetarian, it is important for a place to have a few vegetarian options. Leunig's had just a few. The gentleman who greeted us was pleasant and polite, the waiter was a gem and very knowledgeable, good service, and great at making sure the water glasses were constantly filled. I did email with the reservations that it was my birthday, but there were no specials or even a small free dessert, but we still enjoyed the food anyway. The only thing I could not appreciate was the level of the music...it was much too loud for me, but it was early in the day, so I let it pass... Other than that, overall, a good experience."

  • "Wasn't sure what to expect. The staff was welcoming and the food and service, excellent."

  • "We have eaten here many times, and I have never been so cold. A draft was coming around the corner where we were seated by the front door. The server knew how cold we were. When I mentioned it to the manager he was very defensive. I hope they find a remedy for this situation, but an apology would have helped."

  • "Always pleased with the experience at Leunig's. Food presentation and service better than most. Food never disappoints. The pastascio salmon in a beet rosotto was cooked to perfection. The rosotto could have been creamier. Texture led me to believe that the rossoto was stretched with non-aborio/carnoli rice. Overall well satisfied."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Leunig's for Valentine's Day. The only reservation times available were 4:45 and 9:30, so we opted for 9:30. The wine selection was good. Appetizers and Entree's were just okay. I think I ordered a duck dish I did not expect to be in a pot pie format, but maybe I missed that in the entree description. Either way, I'd give Leunig's another chance, but will probably order a different entree."

  • "Amongst a plethora of delicate restaurants, Leunig's is situated on historic church street midway down the walk. You can tell the food is cooked with a sense of love and passion for the ingredients. The perfect blend of flavors makes the taste buds dance. Plan ahead if you want a fine dining outing, they're very busy all the time. Also, don't plan on a quiet dining experience. The tables are comfortably placed in close proximity to one another not allowing for many quaint quiet conversations with your date. During the summer it isn't as noisy when they open the doors on one entire half of both dining rooms allowing the sweet air of warmth into the dining experience. I am a patron and not someone with direct affiliation to Leunig's."

  • "I've been here a couple of times, and they never disappoint. They can be a little pricey, but they're no worse than the other upscale places in the area. Highly recommend."

  • "We were seated promptly and serve quickly. There were ample choices on the menu for our party, including those members with special dietary concerns. Service was friendly. Prices were a bit steep for Burlington though."

  • "Good friend - not romance - he picked spot for birthday treat. Atmosphere perfect for any kind of celebration - romance or not. Sat right on time. Delish filet cooked as requested. Veggies still colorful and crisp, full of flavor. Poutine and Duck frites fun and yummy. Arranged desert delivery ahead of time. Delivered without asking- molten chocolate cake big hit. Birthday boy loved dinner and so did I. Thank you!"

  • "A friend and I dined last Wednesday evening and found our server to be friendly, knowledgeable, and most personable. We walked about 1/2 mile to get to get to you as I misjudged where you were located. The wind chill was about -30. We walked in, were cheerily greeted and taken to our table right away. We were escorted around the corner to a small table not two feet away from a table with two women. At first I did not like the seating and felt sardined in but as the evening progressed and the food was being served it all went well. I LOVE your place. I will be bringing my husband and some friends in very soon. The travel time for us is over an hour but well worth it. Thank you for making our night warm and delicious."

  • "We were there recently for a luncheon but needed to get in and out in a hurry as my daughter had a meeting she could not miss. The staff was not only accomodating and sensitive to our needs but delivered fully and with smiles!!! Very pleasant staff, top shelf, actually! And the food....outstanding!"

  • "This mainstay is charming and perfectly located. The food, though not stellar, is hearty and good. Staff are friendly and efficient and the ambiance very much a European bistro. A reliable go to!"

  • "On this most recent visit, we started with the truffle fries and a cheese plate. The truffles fries were crisp and flavorful and sprinkled with a fragrant blend of fresh herbs and salt. The cheese plate was delicious as well, paired with fresh grapes, apple, house-made crackers, and a cherry compote to die for. For the Entree, I ordered the Wild Boar Osso-Bucco, which was moist, tender, and incredibly flavorful. The portion was very large (to my satisfaction) and it was served with delicate purple potatoes, carrots, and a flavorful cider braising liquid gravy. This was one of the best meals I have eaten. Dessert was a white chocolate cheese cake that was decadent and rich. Service and ambiance were top-notch, A+ for Leunig's."

  • "With a son who goes to UVM and business contacts in the Burlington area, we always make a point to have a meal at Leunig's Bistro. My husband dreams about the escargot and I can't resist the steak with truffle fries. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Very good location on Church St. We were seated next to the open window, which was very pleasant during the fall evening. The food was outstanding. My husband got a chicken cajun pasta, I got the venison chop and we shared an appetizer of ravioli. All of the dishes were quite delicious and if we are in the area again, I would come back to this restaurant."

  • "It was a very busy Friday so reservations were limited. We were scheduled in for 7:15 and arrived at 7:10. If we frequented the restaurant more often than we do we would have not been so prompt. At about 7:40 we were seated. Table was in a crowded part of the restaurant, but we had not asked for anything specific even though it was our anniversary. Wait staff missed our salad order. It was corrected and dinners taken back to the kitchen only to be returned by another confused wait staff. Ultimately things were righted and the meals were delivered correctly. They were delicious."

  • "Leunigs has slipped and become complacent. We had made a reservation on line several weeks in advance but had to wait 30 minutes to be seated and did we get an apology for having to wait. The radiator below our window seat was not working and we had to keep our coats on to stay warm. The food cooled very quickly. We took our dessert to go as we could no longer sit in the cold. We would have appreciated an offer to change our table. The servers were robotic and lacked very little enthusiasm for their work. When we left the restaurant, no one thanked us for coming. We no longer feel comfortable to recommend Leunigs to our friends! What a shame."

  • "We had an early reservation (11:30 am) for lunch, four friends. The place was really hopping, but the service was excellent and they were very patient with us old women wanting to chat chat chat. It was probably a little louder than we would have liked, but it was festive and had a warm, happy, Christmas feeling. We've been before and will go again."

  • "Our dining experience was poor, for the first time in many years of loving this spot, and all three of us agreed. We were seated in a wonderful spot, very quickly. It went down from there. The service waiter took a very long time for each and every function , the food was not hot, the sauces grainy, and the toast on the sandwich was close to burned. We were out of time, due to the very extended wait/service, or we would have asked for replacement foods. This place is darling, and we pray it was just the season or the day. We were quite disappointed. I am sure that corrections could be made, and will. It has charm, and "good" has been not a good enough word for our times eating there in the past."
