Diner Reviews
  • "Open Table.. You need to be more up-to-date with these restaurants. I have been using OpenTable and never had a problem until now. So glad it wasn't a first date or company dinner. But it was my wires birthday on this day and we were dressed up nice. As this French restaurant was rated high and a fancy restaurant. So when we drove by and no one was around nor lights. Well… it was embarrassing. So on a Friday night in Boca at 8pm. Was very scared that we couldn't get in anywhere else in a decent time. So we went to Trulucks and told them the story and with no res. and after 8. They still sat us. Great place and we go all the time. So much for trying something new."

  • "The restaurant was relaxing. Food is delicious. Service was good until it got crowded; then they fell behind due to not enough servers."

  • "We liked it when it first opened but something now has happened - perhaps the original chef left? We will not return until we know there is a new chef."

  • "The night I had dinner at this restaurant there was no one in the restaurant. The wine list was very pricy. Everything on the menu was a la carte. I don't mind paying more for an exceptional meal but I do not think this was exceptional. My meal was not prepared how I ordered it and the side dishes were very small. The meal was not bad but for the price I expect more. The dessert was very good and was plated beautifully. It was nice to try a new restaurant but do not think I would go back."

  • "We arrived at 7:30 on Saturday night. The place was empty. Understaffed even for the amount of people that were there. We waited 10 minutes and had to ask for menus. They gave us the Wine list. 5 minutes later, we asked again for menus. The server Explained they had a problem with the menus, and only had a few Of them. They couldn't produce any. We left. There were maybe 20 total in the restaurant. They should of gone to kinkos and at the Least made copies.. The restaurant has been open since October."

  • "Since a week they have a bar menu up to 8 $. Delicious healthy gourmet food for a very reasonable price. Don ´t miss the dessert selection plate for 9$. Very nice French atmosphere. Try it. You will come back."

  • "The food, even more so the dessert, was a work of art. We took pictures of everything before we ate it. The service? multi tier. Waitress and an assistant, sommelier there with a new wine for each stage of your dinner. Prices were beyond impressive. I'm pretty accustomed to restaurants gauging me on wines, but this place had an insanely low markup! The sommelier said it was just another way to enjoy the food. Nice to know how much the staff believes in what they sell. I will be back ... Tomorrow :)"

  • "First of all we must tell you that my wife and me are foodies. We had a great experience in this restaurant !! My wife had a goat cheese salad and I had sea scalops... both delicious !!! Then we had Chateaubriand. The meat was perfectly cooked and so tender and tastefull. The French Chef Geoffroy came on our table to make sure everithing was OK. Was great. Dessert lovers, THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR DESSERT. Each dessert is a piece of art and.....has an amazing good taste. Stephane, the pastry Chef who competed the French Pastry Championship creates all his desserts, Royal Chocolate, profiterolles....The best I ever ate. Geoffroy told us that they will have a new menu soon. I can´t wait coming back. Try it you will love.Service was perfect."

  • "It was our third time at L'Etoile and it was great - we love it and dine out often. I was appalled by the review in the Sun-Sentinel because we think it is great and is an excellent addition to the dining scene in east Boca. We had the salmon and it surpassed our expectations. You will not be disappointed!"

  • "Totally unorganized. Had reservations but waited 30 minutes to be seated ... Not because they were overbooked but because no one acknowledged us or the other 5 groups behind us. Simply the worst service ever. I can't speak about the food because after another. 30 minutes sitting at our table without ever getting our drinks or ordering. (their regular menu was reduced from what's online so don't go by it) we finally just walked out. I have had better service at IHOP. I know they are new but we left and went to another newly opened Italian restaurant in Royal Palm Place and had a fantastic dinner and service."

  • "This was legitimately the poorest service and worst run restaraunt I have ever been to. When we arrived with a reservation the owner and hostess looked scared to see more diners arriving. 35 minutes for napkins is insane. The food was subpar and we received our entrees about an hour and forty five minutes after we arrived. When we spoke to the manager he told us the staff was all crumbling under the pressure, except for him. Good job throwing your crew under the bus. The waiter had also told me the owner's greed in booking 120 covers and then double booking for was the reason the staff was so overwhelmed was not very comforting. This experience was a joke and days later I'm able to laugh at there ineptness."

  • "In all my years of dining, I have never had to write a poor review. However, I would not want anyone else to experience the nightmare dinner that we suffered through. This is a pricey upscale estetically appealing restaurant, and should have been a perfect pick for Valentine's day. The service and food were awful. People were being seated without menus, set ups or site of a server. We watched 6 tables be seated, be ignored, complain repeatedly and finally walk out. All the tables were talking to each other, sometimes across the room ( on a romantic evening) commiserating about their experiences! The only thing that was worth our $275 bill, was the comedic entertainment of the riot that almost ensued! If we didn't laugh, we would have cried!"

  • "Due to character limit I will write in bullet points: 1) No food after an hour of waiting 2) People who were seated after us received food before us 3) No apology for lack of ANY food and waiting an hour 4) Horrible service (waitress tried to seat us again as we were leaving and waiter tried to give us amuse bouche twice by accident) 5) Wine by the glass selection was not good 6) Restaurant was opened by one owner (good reviews) then sold after three months to present owner This was a horrible valentine's day experience. I cannot even say dinner because we left without ever eating."

  • "L'Etoile is a step ahead of the best restaurants in South Florida. Food was extraordinary and service was excellent. Chef from France. Highly recommend."

  • "Cafe Boulud prices with average food quality. For the price the food and service should have been excellent to superior. It wasn't."

  • "While the food was pretty good, it was definitely not commensurate with the prices. The ambiance barely made "fair" I would not be likely to return."

  • "very unorganized service. lobster bisque had no lobster and was cold two times. owner ignored us. electricity went out. door was opened so no air conditioning even after electricity was back."

  • "Excellent food and service. The restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Saturday night perhaps because it was new and hard to find. We ordered a few appetizers and entrees, all very flavorful and creative. The desserts were large in portion (plenty for two to share) and look like pieces of art work! A hidden gem. Hope the restaurant does enough advertising to get enough customers."

  • "We are fortunate to live near L'Etoile, a new and fantastic French restaurant in East Boca - just slightly north of Chops Lobster Bar. The food is outstanding along with the great service and a nice, romantic atmosphere. One cannot find anything other than simply The Best to describe it. It is our second time there and we already have decided what we want to eat next time. The food preparation is elegant and it is so unlike the other French restaurants in the area. If you enjoy fine dining and great service, this is the restaurant for you. Thank you L'Etoile!"

  • "We were visiting from San Francisco, and this place could hold its own even in the SF bay area. Terrific restaurant, highly recommended. Dinner exceptional, nice wine list, wonderful deserts. Superb service. What more could you ask for?"

  • "Anyone who enjoys eating out should immediately go to L'Etoile. Without a doubt, it is outstanding. In considering some other upscale restaurants in Boca, such as Chops, Mortons, Casa D'Angelo, or Trulucks, it is as good or better as the food is French! The atmosphere is elegant, and the service is outstanding from begnning to the end. Since we ate there, we went to one of our favorite restaurants and left feeing disappointed. We realized the reason was that we felt L'Etoile was so much better! The menu is varied with numerous dishes we look forward to trying! We had the smoked salmon gravlax, black grouper, and the profiteroiles -they all were outstanding and we saw the chef! We cannot wait to go again!"

  • "The food and service were great. I hope it survives because even the ambience was quiet the food was really good. Maybe a little expensive. We didn't have any alcohol and a group of 7 ( 2 families) and each family paid about 250 with the tip."

  • "This was the best meal we've had in Boca Raton. The food was authentic French food with an interesting menu containing both old French favorites and some innovative offerings. The food was well prepared and the service extraordinary."
