Les Halles Park AvenueVery Good ExperienceThis place delivers no pretense - only delicious blue-collar French fare prepared extremely well with service to match. The wine list in my opinion is great. It's not so large as to be intimidating, but it provides a varied selection of good French wines (the Crozes-Hermitage was excellent).
If you are looking for a place that delivers attention to detail and a great meal at a reasonable price then look no further.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAnthony Bordain Rocks! This is a totally chic place with a very reasonably priced menu. Should be on every foodies must go list. The service is exceptional. The food it truly delicious. The bottles of wine are half price on Mondays which is always nice.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcelentNo doubt, a great culinary experience in New York, all the people are very helpful. A perfect equilibrium between quality / taste / service / price / location.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGood restaurant on french foodGood selection of french dishes of several styles. Top choices I would reccomend are the steakes and the fries, outstanding flavor and perfectly cooked!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat friesExcellent brasserie fare with fantastic fries. No Anthony Bourdon but many of the dishes from his cook book which is probably a fair trade off. Will return whenever I am in NYC5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI want to go back...for every mealLed Halles has been on our list to check out for the last 3 years and we finally got there. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu, it all looked AMAZING. For apps we ordered the cracked pepper Brie which was so delicious. I also ordered the French onion soup which is the best that I've ever tasted. My fiancé ordered the bone marrow and couldn't have been happier. For our entrees of course we ordered steak. Our steaks were the most tender, perfectly cooked pieces of beef that I've ever had. We had no room for dessert, but the table side crepes looked fantastic. We will be going back soon, no question about it.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent steakBrought family here for dinner and a great Steak en' Frits having been here 8+ years or so ago. It was every bit as impressed as I was with the overall experience; and the steak was perfectly seasoned, cooked and just the right amount. Of the 5 of us, 4 different steaks were ordered and each was enjoyed.
Just wish I lived in town to come here more frequently.
So many steak houses have mega meat portions, while good quality meat, they are just too much. Les Halle's is not that place.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNo ReservationsAbsolutely loved this restaurant!!!
Finally decided to go here to celebrate a special occasion with my wife - its only a block away from us and have been meaning to go for a while. The steaks were uprising amazing!!! Their award winning french fries are legitimately the best french fries I've ever had. The prices are no where near to a traditional steak house - so that was an added bonus. Met a couple of English ladies that were staying across the street at the Gansevoort. They stumbled upon it there their first night, and loved it so much, went there every night of their stay for 5 straight nights! And they had no idea who Anthony Bourdain is - so they simple liked the food. I think that pretty much sums it up all.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Overall Experience! My wife, her sister and I had been in the city for the afternoon and were looking for somewhere to get dinner, but chances of getting in somewhere at 8:45 PM seemed to be poor. We hopped on Open Table to see if there was room at Les Halles (which we had all been to before and loved!) and sure enough, we were able to make a reservation for 9:15 PM. We arrived, waited for only an additional 10 minutes and sauntered up to the bar in the meantime. The food was excellent, the wine was great (and new to us) and the service was very friendly. I would highly recommend the escargots and my wife would recommend the steak with blue cheese!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I celebrated ourMy wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on May 16 in New York City. Less Halles Park Avenue was recommended
by a friend and we could not have had a better restaurant to celebrate. Being on a Thursday night we had a nice table towards
the rear and the food and service were great.......and the price was very good. We particularly enjoyed having a drink at
the bar before dinner.......happy hour with extra large shrimp and discounted drinks. thanks.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatWe enjoyed this place so much that we returned the next night to try different dishes. Which were also excellent. Steak and frites special is a bargain at $21 in Manhattan where a deli sandwich can reach $20.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday AmbienceI brought my significant other here for his birthday with a group of friends, and the restaurant was very accommodating. All of the food we ordered came out fairly quickly, even despite one order mixup. We have been coming here often for their Monday night wine special (half-off bottles), and we will certainly be coming back. I have dreams of their duck confit!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEntertainingI was there with 6 family members on a Monday night. We had a very pleasant evening chit chatting and enjoying the delicious food and wine. All the workers that we came in contact with were helpful and friendly. I have been recommending others to go and enjoy this establishment.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways WonderfulGiven its location just down Park from my b/f's apartment, I dine at Les Halles frequently. I likely would no matter where it was located; it is one of my favorite spots in the city. The food is always wonderful and the service is pretty good too. My only complaint is that it is generally crowded and it is very noisy. However, I think the fact that it is always packed speaks volumes about the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. My current favorite dish is the ginger hanger steak salad. I highly recommend it.
On this particular occasion, I brought some friends from out of town and they pronounced Les Halles their new favorite. They would have eaten there every day, had our schedule permitted it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food worth itfood was excellent, very healthy size, great quality well cooked.
service excellent. really well trained staff, whihch was obvious.
meal for 2 cost 130us$ with a bottle of wine - i thought this wa reasonable given where it was, and the quality.
book to avoid waiting times.
i had a serloin and it was immense.
well done anthony and the restaurant.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food. Service not theGood Food. Service not the most attentive. Second beer never arrived and iced tea never refilled. Great food though.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful French CrusineI took a friend to lunch at Les Halles Park Avenue during the busy weekday lunch time.
We had reservations and did not have to wait to be seated. From the moment of arrival, we were taken to our table and the service was attentive, pleasant and very professional in a earthy manner.
The appetizers, main meal and dessert were wonderful. I definitely will go back to this restaurant - it gave a feeling of a place where you could be a regular customer and people would know who you were. That is very comfortable and appealing to have a place you can always go to for a wonderful dining experience.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Deal in New York City.Simple French brasserie fare prepared and presented well. My steak tartare was perfectly prepared tableside and my companion's cassoulet may have been the best I've ever had. And, since it was Monday evening (half-price selection), we paired it all with a terrific '07 Gigondas for $29 -- which is as close to wholesale as you will find anywhere!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for special occasionsWe were a party of 5 celebrating my boyfriend's bday. He loves the place steak tartare, specially because they prepare it on the spot! It was very fresh and delicious. All of us enjoyed our meal. I'd recommend the restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion or to simple those who love a good steak.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExecellent FoodThe food was fantastic. What a great value for New York!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealWe were a party of 6. A friend had recommended the restaurant. Our reservations were for 6:45pm on Saturday night. By 8 pm the place was loud and hopping! The food was excellent as was the service.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a night at the opera,After a night at the opera, a friend and I chose Les Halles for a little late-night snack and dessert (we've both eaten here multiple times before). We arrived at 11 pm and were seated immediately. Our waiter suggested we order the tomato and chorizo moules frites, instead of the traditional white wine and garlic. The mussels were AMAZING. Cooked perfectly and the cilantro on top was a great touch. For dessert, I ordered the special cranberry tart and my friend ordered the creme brulee. Both were delicious!
The best part about this evening, apart from the fantastic food and setting, were the staff. The restaurant was supposed to close at midnight and they allowed us to stay until 12:55 am, without saying a word or rushing us!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful foodWhen we arrived at the restaurant, we were a little disappointed with the ambience (it was a little darker and louder than we were expecting and the decoration seems a little old style).
As soon as we sat on our table, we totally forgot about these negative points. The service is impeccable and the food, perfect. It's simple but perfectly executed. I ordered a tuna tartare and a Confit de Canard and my husband ordered an onion soup and a steak with fries.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!!!Went there since I'm a fan of Anthony Bourdain........ The food, service and atmosphere was great. I highly recommend the bone marrow with mushrooms appetizer and of course the creme broule is the best I've ever had.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous foodFrom the greeting to the service and food they make you feel special.
The server was very helpful in assisting me with the wine selection. One
Of the best meals I have ever had at what I consider an excellent pri e.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWas there in a large groupWas there in a large group and the restaurant was very accomodating - they didn't rush or pressure us either even though some of our party arrived late. Great atmosphere for brunch. Had the steak and eggs which was great. I've eaten dinner there a couple of times as well and have not been disappointed by the quality of the food.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBobbyzkBest fries in NYC and the strip steak was tender like butter. The mussels with Churrasco is fantastic. Prices are great for this quality food in for NYC4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food & serviceWell organized staff that all did their chores. Great food of high quality4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent, greatFood was excellent, great service. Only thing was it was very dark, I could barely see my plate.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousnessnI brought my boyfriend here on a special occasion. The neighborhood is fabulous, the inside is elegant, the food is small portioned but very very very delicious. I will come back again for sure.I really wanted to dine out-doors but it was cold that day. The noise was just of people talking and having a good time. They have a wide variety of wine selections. The service was okay, the waiter we got was a bit awkward, however the experience over-all was very satisfying.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthey have a monday night specialthey have a monday night special with 50% off on their wine list. Had a great Puligny-Montrachet for $52. Plus they do a great job with the french classics. You can get a steak frites at a reasonable price and they do a nice job with the frisee salad.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThey need to update their website! We went at 11:00 on a Saturday so we could order both brunch and off the regular menu, but when we got there, they said we could not - - that the policy had changed. So we had to wait an hour and 10 minutes to be able to order off of the regular menu. Bummer. But the food was good, once we settled down.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood the best bistro foodFood the best bistro food you'll have possibly anywhere, but certainly in the U.S. The foie gras was sublime and my filet steak was superb quality; my friend's moules marinere was the best I've ever tasted. We got the quiet area by accident (possibly the hostess took one look at our age and surmised a high probability of hearing issues) and it was a godsend. The rest of the place would have been too noisy for us. We'll definitely go agan AND ask for the quiet area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA classic that's still excellentStill a go to choice for anyone seeking authentic French bistro food. The waitress was wonderful and actually gave us very good selection advice, not just the usual "everything is good" or being steered to more expensive items, as is too often the case these days. I prefer coming a bit early before it gets mobbed4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious FoodEverything that we ate was absolutely delicious. I would recommend the food to anyone, and will definitely be heading back the next time I am in NYC4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place for lunch.Excellent place for lunch. We had 2 Apps, 2 entres and a bottle of wine for $103. Amazing value.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMParis in New YorkWent there on a Monday night, my friend could not make it so I sat at the bar and had a couple of glasses of wine, a carpacio and their excellent french fries. The food was great, the bar tender, Nikki very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere a Paris bistro without the cigarette smoke. I would definitely recommend Les Halles.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMiss Cape TownI made the reservation from Cape Town before my trip to NY. I really looked forward to the whole experience for a long time. And I was not disappointed at all!! The food was great!!! The steak was superb!!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWine list too expensive.Wine list too expensive. Brought a half dozen back to VA. To enjoy over time. French press coffee is excellent.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good service, goodGood food, good service, good value- what else can you ask for? In our party of ten, there wasn't one complaint. The kitchen does seem to tweak their menu once in awhile but the dishes are consistently good. Will return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYes, Anthony's old stomping groundsis still consistantly good for the $20 steak frites. The other cuts are great too, but this is the better values around for consistantly good steak lunch. Of course, their seafood fare is good too!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThanks to a great team at LesHallesThank you to the Les Halles team. We like to pick our table, if possible, and this was no problem to them. Great place, will recommend and go again.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSuzanneperfect aside from being too dark, can barely see the menu or the terrific food! lights up just a bit would improve the experience (in my opinion).4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat expereince for a busygreat expereince for a busy Easter. great food and service3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place to enjoy greatA great place to enjoy great food and great service - Love Les Halles.
