Les Halles Park Avenue
Absent waiterI would've had a second glass of wine had our waiter come back before my steak was finished6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall experience,Great overall experience, Good prices, good food, good ambiance.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat NYC Spot!My wife and I had a great night at Les Halles! The staff was very accommodating. Even though we got there very late, we were not rushed and treated the same as any other customer. The food was very good and the wine was amazing. We only had a short trip to NYC, and with so many options in the city we know we made the right decision for dinner.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat appetizersFor starters, definitely try the foie grais with apple and walnuts. This isn't your typical pâté you get in a can. This is a slice of fatty duck liver which will melt in your mouth (hopefully not on your shirt). Sweetness of the cooked apple will intensify your palate once you indulge on the foie gras. Take your time as this will fill you up quite quickly.
We also tried the pâté with beef tongue; this was your pâté which is stacked with beef tongue (sliced of course). It is also very filling but it pairs real well with the prunes which were preserved with red wine reduction of some sort.
Entree we had the duck confit, which was cook pretty well, skin was crispy and a slice of bread on bottom to prevent the bottom from sogginess.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steaks and frites!Great place to pick for a casual night out with friends. Steak was medium and perfect6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, excellent serviceWe had aa great time at Les Halles except for one thing. the wine was too hot. Overall, the food was so good that we forgot about it :)5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA must go for 2 love birds!Les Halles has just been one of our go to places these past few years! The food never will/can disappoint my date and I! And even though service will change, no matter a new face, they always seem to be quite knowledgable and yet very sweet and accommodating all at the same time! One of our first dates was at Les Halle's and it will always have a special place in my heart! So please keep up the great work! And thank you for making sure all prior requests for our reservation were met! We def left very full and content! Thanks again!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDesde ChileTenia grandes expectativas de este lugar. He comprado algunos libros de Bourdain y he visto algunos programas deTV. La comida y el ambiente estan bien, aunque no gourmet. Ni para estrellas michelin. Pero buena comida y a un buen precio5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMsteakThey have the best price in the city for a really good steak and a very nice wine list. The service could be better.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWell Worth the WaitLike many others not from NYC, I first heard of Les Halles from Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. That was over 10 years ago with me. Everything was as expected. Food, service, ambience was enjoyable. If I lived in NYC I definitely a regular patron.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect brasserieWe had a lovely dinner at Les Halles park avenue. It was convenient to our hotel and the food was delicious. We had the steak frites and the duck. No room for dessert but took it to go. Our waiter was helpful in pointing out the chocolate mousse wouldn't travel well so we took home the special for the night and it was wonderful.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Oasis in Murray HillStaying in Murray Hill while working on a film in Brooklyn. I walked pass this restaurant for several weeks, curious, but not enough to stop in. I learned from a colleague that this was the flagship restaurant for Anthony Bourdain, the man who, through "No Reservations", had opened my eyes to the art of Gastronomy. Well, I had to eat here. Lucky me. The staff we found professional , helpful and courteous. We ordered dry Martinis, a good start. The food was excellent. Frisee aux lardons, Merguez with Truffle fries, and my new love, Braised Rabbit. A heavenly experience that is now, difficult to pass.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious as alwaysI've been here twice for lunch and recently for dinner. Lunch is quiet with less people. Our dinner on a Weds. was 7:30pm & it was crowded so reservations recommended. I ordered their burger & it was delicious! It was moist & juicy! Their french fries are sooo good! My husband had their steak with some wine sauce & it was great also! Their food regardless what you get is delicious! And service is great and on point also despite the busy night.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good ExperienceThis place delivers no pretense - only delicious blue-collar French fare prepared extremely well with service to match. The wine list in my opinion is great. It's not so large as to be intimidating, but it provides a varied selection of good French wines (the Crozes-Hermitage was excellent).
If you are looking for a place that delivers attention to detail and a great meal at a reasonable price then look no further.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Les HallesI have been to Les Halles many times and have not been disappointed. Food is really good and quite reasonable. Service was very attentive. Tables on Park Ave at night are wonderful. Only drawback, and not a major one, is the size of a cocktail. The bartender could use a slightly heavier hand...5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not dis-sapoint!!I dont know if mr. Bourdain was there, but you would never know it. The food was presented beautifully and the flavours were delightful.
Service was only average, which did lessen our experience somewhat.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAnthony Bordain Rocks! This is a totally chic place with a very reasonably priced menu. Should be on every foodies must go list. The service is exceptional. The food it truly delicious. The bottles of wine are half price on Mondays which is always nice.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcelentNo doubt, a great culinary experience in New York, all the people are very helpful. A perfect equilibrium between quality / taste / service / price / location.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery french restaurant!I recomend this restaurant for the french lovers! The food is great and the ambience is very nice! There is a very honest price too. Enjoy it!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood restaurant on french foodGood selection of french dishes of several styles. Top choices I would reccomend are the steakes and the fries, outstanding flavor and perfectly cooked!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely one of the topDefinitely one of the top five dinners I've had in NYC. I had the scallops, which were amazing. My parents had the salmon and the "choucroute garnie," also both very tasty. We also split a side of spinach. Plus chocolate mousse for dessert which was to die for. Only two complaints: (1) the noise level got so high the waiter couldn't hear us, and (2) it was so dark inside we had trouble reading the menus (we had to use our cellphones as flashlights). But...seriously good food so we didn't mind that much.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLes Halles didn't disappointWe were a half hour late getting to the restaurant for our reservation time because we had difficulty flagging down a taxi. The restaurant was most gracious and they quickly found us a suitable table anyways. The menu is French bistro , in French with English translation underneath. I had the cassoulet which is rich with meat morsels and on a base of white beans. It was delicious. The creme brule was superb and tasted like we were in Paris. My sisters had the Amish chicken dish and the cheese cake for dessert. With a bottle of great wine , we couldn't have asked for more. The tables are very close together and the sound loud but we were in New York so that is what to expect.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat friesExcellent brasserie fare with fantastic fries. No Anthony Bourdon but many of the dishes from his cook book which is probably a fair trade off. Will return whenever I am in NYC5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent steakBrought family here for dinner and a great Steak en' Frits having been here 8+ years or so ago. It was every bit as impressed as I was with the overall experience; and the steak was perfectly seasoned, cooked and just the right amount. Of the 5 of us, 4 different steaks were ordered and each was enjoyed.
Just wish I lived in town to come here more frequently.
So many steak houses have mega meat portions, while good quality meat, they are just too much. Les Halle's is not that place.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNo ReservationsAbsolutely loved this restaurant!!!
Finally decided to go here to celebrate a special occasion with my wife - its only a block away from us and have been meaning to go for a while. The steaks were uprising amazing!!! Their award winning french fries are legitimately the best french fries I've ever had. The prices are no where near to a traditional steak house - so that was an added bonus. Met a couple of English ladies that were staying across the street at the Gansevoort. They stumbled upon it there their first night, and loved it so much, went there every night of their stay for 5 straight nights! And they had no idea who Anthony Bourdain is - so they simple liked the food. I think that pretty much sums it up all.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Overall Experience! My wife, her sister and I had been in the city for the afternoon and were looking for somewhere to get dinner, but chances of getting in somewhere at 8:45 PM seemed to be poor. We hopped on Open Table to see if there was room at Les Halles (which we had all been to before and loved!) and sure enough, we were able to make a reservation for 9:15 PM. We arrived, waited for only an additional 10 minutes and sauntered up to the bar in the meantime. The food was excellent, the wine was great (and new to us) and the service was very friendly. I would highly recommend the escargots and my wife would recommend the steak with blue cheese!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI want to go back...for every mealLed Halles has been on our list to check out for the last 3 years and we finally got there. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu, it all looked AMAZING. For apps we ordered the cracked pepper Brie which was so delicious. I also ordered the French onion soup which is the best that I've ever tasted. My fiancé ordered the bone marrow and couldn't have been happier. For our entrees of course we ordered steak. Our steaks were the most tender, perfectly cooked pieces of beef that I've ever had. We had no room for dessert, but the table side crepes looked fantastic. We will be going back soon, no question about it.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I celebrated ourMy wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on May 16 in New York City. Less Halles Park Avenue was recommended
by a friend and we could not have had a better restaurant to celebrate. Being on a Thursday night we had a nice table towards
the rear and the food and service were great.......and the price was very good. We particularly enjoyed having a drink at
the bar before dinner.......happy hour with extra large shrimp and discounted drinks. thanks.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatWe enjoyed this place so much that we returned the next night to try different dishes. Which were also excellent. Steak and frites special is a bargain at $21 in Manhattan where a deli sandwich can reach $20.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday AmbienceI brought my significant other here for his birthday with a group of friends, and the restaurant was very accommodating. All of the food we ordered came out fairly quickly, even despite one order mixup. We have been coming here often for their Monday night wine special (half-off bottles), and we will certainly be coming back. I have dreams of their duck confit!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEntertainingI was there with 6 family members on a Monday night. We had a very pleasant evening chit chatting and enjoying the delicious food and wine. All the workers that we came in contact with were helpful and friendly. I have been recommending others to go and enjoy this establishment.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways WonderfulGiven its location just down Park from my b/f's apartment, I dine at Les Halles frequently. I likely would no matter where it was located; it is one of my favorite spots in the city. The food is always wonderful and the service is pretty good too. My only complaint is that it is generally crowded and it is very noisy. However, I think the fact that it is always packed speaks volumes about the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. My current favorite dish is the ginger hanger steak salad. I highly recommend it.
On this particular occasion, I brought some friends from out of town and they pronounced Les Halles their new favorite. They would have eaten there every day, had our schedule permitted it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food worth itfood was excellent, very healthy size, great quality well cooked.
service excellent. really well trained staff, whihch was obvious.
meal for 2 cost 130us$ with a bottle of wine - i thought this wa reasonable given where it was, and the quality.
book to avoid waiting times.
i had a serloin and it was immense.
well done anthony and the restaurant.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food. Service not theGood Food. Service not the most attentive. Second beer never arrived and iced tea never refilled. Great food though.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful French CrusineI took a friend to lunch at Les Halles Park Avenue during the busy weekday lunch time.
We had reservations and did not have to wait to be seated. From the moment of arrival, we were taken to our table and the service was attentive, pleasant and very professional in a earthy manner.
The appetizers, main meal and dessert were wonderful. I definitely will go back to this restaurant - it gave a feeling of a place where you could be a regular customer and people would know who you were. That is very comfortable and appealing to have a place you can always go to for a wonderful dining experience.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy & livelyFrites among best in NYC. hanger steak great
Onion soup the best. Bone marrow did not meet
Expectations. Pass on it.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Deal in New York City.Simple French brasserie fare prepared and presented well. My steak tartare was perfectly prepared tableside and my companion's cassoulet may have been the best I've ever had. And, since it was Monday evening (half-price selection), we paired it all with a terrific '07 Gigondas for $29 -- which is as close to wholesale as you will find anywhere!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak TartareGreat appetizers, especially escargot, foie gras and tuna tartare. Steak tartare is prepared table-side by your waiter. You can decide how much herbs, onions, and others you want.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for special occasionsWe were a party of 5 celebrating my boyfriend's bday. He loves the place steak tartare, specially because they prepare it on the spot! It was very fresh and delicious. All of us enjoyed our meal. I'd recommend the restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion or to simple those who love a good steak.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExecellent FoodThe food was fantastic. What a great value for New York!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealWe were a party of 6. A friend had recommended the restaurant. Our reservations were for 6:45pm on Saturday night. By 8 pm the place was loud and hopping! The food was excellent as was the service.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a night at the opera,After a night at the opera, a friend and I chose Les Halles for a little late-night snack and dessert (we've both eaten here multiple times before). We arrived at 11 pm and were seated immediately. Our waiter suggested we order the tomato and chorizo moules frites, instead of the traditional white wine and garlic. The mussels were AMAZING. Cooked perfectly and the cilantro on top was a great touch. For dessert, I ordered the special cranberry tart and my friend ordered the creme brulee. Both were delicious!
The best part about this evening, apart from the fantastic food and setting, were the staff. The restaurant was supposed to close at midnight and they allowed us to stay until 12:55 am, without saying a word or rushing us!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful foodWhen we arrived at the restaurant, we were a little disappointed with the ambience (it was a little darker and louder than we were expecting and the decoration seems a little old style).
As soon as we sat on our table, we totally forgot about these negative points. The service is impeccable and the food, perfect. It's simple but perfectly executed. I ordered a tuna tartare and a Confit de Canard and my husband ordered an onion soup and a steak with fries.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!!!Went there since I'm a fan of Anthony Bourdain........ The food, service and atmosphere was great. I highly recommend the bone marrow with mushrooms appetizer and of course the creme broule is the best I've ever had.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous foodFrom the greeting to the service and food they make you feel special.
The server was very helpful in assisting me with the wine selection. One
Of the best meals I have ever had at what I consider an excellent pri e.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWas there in a large groupWas there in a large group and the restaurant was very accomodating - they didn't rush or pressure us either even though some of our party arrived late. Great atmosphere for brunch. Had the steak and eggs which was great. I've eaten dinner there a couple of times as well and have not been disappointed by the quality of the food.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBobbyzkBest fries in NYC and the strip steak was tender like butter. The mussels with Churrasco is fantastic. Prices are great for this quality food in for NYC4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food & serviceWell organized staff that all did their chores. Great food of high quality4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent, greatFood was excellent, great service. Only thing was it was very dark, I could barely see my plate.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic Parisian bistro offerings,Classic Parisian bistro offerings, typical crowded bistro atmosphere and look. On the downside, it's way too dark in there! The restaurant could add a little bit more lighting to the room without destroying the look or feel of it. At 4 or 5 tables near me, guests were using flashlights and/or smart phones to illuminate the menu.
Their pommes frites are superb!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
