Diner Reviews
  • "Very delicious and beautifully served. Even more impressive, though, is the cheerful and attentive staff. They made this elegant dining experience so enjoyable. Well done."

  • "When we arrived at our table, there were sparkles spread on the table cloth in recognition of our 52nd anniversary dinner. Les Folies is a very special place. The wine was just right, the food excellent. I had muscles and salad. The muscles were extremely good, better than I have ever had. We had wonderful chocolate moose desert. The service was just right - helpful but not intrusive. We will come back as often as we can. Three cheers for Les Folies!"

  • "We love the welcoming atmosphere, old world charm, and knowledgeable wait staff! Fantastic French wines reasonably priced, delicious meals that keep us coming back. The first courses are all so delicious-the country pate, duck salad, and shrimp in tomato, that is is difficult to choose. The veal is amazing, and hubby wants to order it everytime! He branched out this time and tried the bouillabaisse, and has a new fav!! The frois gras is my absolute fav! Do not miss the chocolate soufflé!"

  • "Food was fabulous. We are from out of state but felt like we were a regular! The staff was wonderful the food delicious. Would come back again if we are in the area!"

  • "Les Folies is outstanding with a varied menu and notable wine list. We always enjoy it whether it's a lunch of soup and salad or a four course dinner. And the service is always impeccable, the staff has been there for a long time and it shows. They really know what they are doing."

  • "We've NEVER been disappointed. Never. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. We both ordered off the regular menu .. she got the grilled salmon over ratatouille and I the grilled marinated whole fish (beheaded and deboned tableside). They were both ample and delicious."

  • "This is a great restaurant for a special occasion. It is expensive so I wouldn't recommend it for every day but great way to celebrate."

  • "My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Les Folies. We especially enjoyed our meals of wiener schnitzel and the wonderful wines that were paired with them. Thank you for the great evening. We will return soon."

  • "Everything was absolutely scrumptious. We had the dover sole and the filet mignon. They were both delicious. It was also very nice to be in a filled restaurant but have no trouble at all hearing the person across from you. We could not have had a better experience."

  • "Les Folies has become one of our favorite weekly haunts for date night. The owner and staff are very attentive and helpful. Food is consistently delicious. Try the any soup, and leave room for the raspberry soufflé."

  • "I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food. Only a short distance from Towne Center but miles away in a small French town for food, flavor and fantasy."

  • "To see it from the outside, one would think warehouse before restaurant. Once you walk inside, however, you're transported to a sidewalk cafe serving great French food: duck confit, ratatouille, coq au vin, etc. This restaurant actually was what turned me onto true French cuisine (no, french fries aren't French!). I even tried sea urchin here! It has its quirks though, namely odd hours and an identity crisis. There have been many times that I've wanted to stop for lunch over the weekend to find the place closed! Even stranger is that they offer lunch Monday-Friday! And their identity crisis? They have a Hawaii Night with a fire eater and hula dancers on the 23rd?? While it may please the crowd, stay true to France and give up the gimmicks."

  • "Just wonderful! It's our favorite restaurant in Annapolis!"

  • "Actually, our party of four wasn't very adventurous. Three chose the same dinner--the ahi tuna. All loved it, and I loved my pasta primavera--especially since it was a garlic and oil sauce instead of the traditional cream. However, everything we had, from salad to dessert and coffee, was excellent!"

  • "Les Folies can easily fool you into thinking you're dining in a bistro deep in a neighborhood in Paris. The food, service, and ambiance would fit well in the 16th arrondisement, and yet you're minutes from the waterfront of the Chesapeake. All dishes from a menu of bistro favorites are well prepared, disply fresh ingredients, and an experienced touch. The wine list is short, but well represented and reasonably priced. The small but cozy bar delivers well crafted cocktails while also offering an informal spot to dine on the full menu. All-in-all a visit well worth the taking."

  • "Had another fabulous experience at this restaurant- and am going back for their Hawaii nite next sunday- after the Beaujolais dinner event no way i would miss this special :-)"

  • "Eric, out server was kind and helpful. The food presentations were appetizing. I liked the ambience and the noise level in the restaurant was well balanced, able to hear and talk with the party I was with. It was a bit pricey but enjoyed overall my dining."

  • "The food was excellent, fine French cuisine, but without being fussy. The menu was filled with classic French dishes like Coq au Vin and.Boullibaise. There was also a nice selection from the Raw Bar section. The service was friendly and helpful in answering questions about the menu. For dessert, don't miss out on the best soufflés. Be sure to order early as it takes time to prepare. The decor looks haphazard. But it helps reinforce that this place is all about the food and not about projecting a pretentious air of fine dining."

  • "Love the way the restaurant is always decorated for each holiday. We came to celebrate a birthday and the table was decorated with confetti and a centerpiece. The staff made the day very special for us."

  • "Went to Les Folies in anticipation of a wonderful meal. Knew the prices were high, but expected better quality food. My coq au vin was pretty good, but not worth $24.00. My husband and mother had the liver (medium cooked) and it was very tough--also not worth the price ($25.00). The waiter and staff were friendly, but overall, a very expensive and disappointing experience."

  • "Our valentines dinner was fantastic! The food and service is outstanding."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We went for valentines day because we love french food and knew we would get a solid meal. We did, escargot, snow crab legs, stuffed quail for me & veal for my wife. Where the meal fell down was service, from the waiter making assumptions about what we could afford, to walking by our table while ignoring us multiple times, to finally standing at the table across from us with our check in his hands but carrying on a 5+ minute conversation with the other table. Overall good was great but service wasn't service at all. I'd tell friends to go for the good but to prepare to be ignored & judged. If you can stand that, the good will make up for it."

  • "Wonderful relaxed lunch with my wife. Same food, same place but not the rush of the dinner hour."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We love this place. Every visit reminds us of our favorite places in France. The staff is friendly and professional, and the food is reliably excellent. When we need some pampering and comfort food, this is our go-to place."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "Allways great -- food, service and ambiance. Dinner or Lunch with classic, varied menus in a French style of course. Not inexpensive but reasonable, except for the martinis ($10.50) -- but that's the same complaint we have with most other restaurants these days!"

  • "Every time we eat here the food and service are excellent. We have never had a bad meal and there is always something new to try. I always get the Escalope de Veau a la Crème (veal with mushroom sauce) and it is perfect! Their Bread Pudding is one of the best in the area."

  • "Good food, great staff and WONDERFUL cuisine. What more would anyone want?"
    Dined on 2/5/2014
  • "Food was good ,services was average not much attention to our table,we started with oyster from malbeque, then foie gras with brioche great, and flan crab with sauce lobster (average nothing special). Then venison little to cook and the chestnut puree was to sweet,ma wife got the sole meuniere and was delicious.Cheese plate not worth ordering ,cheese was poor selection and apple where already turning dark for not being in the fridge.Desert was a soufflé grand marnier ,ok but i requested whip cream who never came. Whine was a Bourgogne good price value, the armagnac with coffee have fingers print on the glass. Now the table was a catastrophe, in the back of the restaurant with leftover furniture, just not worth driving that far for this!"

  • "We've been coming to Les Folies for a few years now, and we are to the point where the friendly, courteous wait staff welcome us with open arms. The food is usually outstanding, and there are only a few items on the menu I wouldn't order again. The only negative I have to register is that the initial service is somewhat lagging, then you seem to get your appetizer and entree one right after the other. The owner, a true Frenchman, is always alert to everything happening in the restaurant and will take care of you if he notices the super-busy wait staff hasn't gotten to you."

  • "We went to Les Folies for my mother in laws birthday-I had been many times with my husband, but this time we also brought our 3 year old (it was a Sunday night). The staff was amazingly helpful. They sat us in a big wrap around booth and made her a kids portion of pasta primavera. They found some paper and a pen for her to draw with and hung two if her pictures at the bar as we left. I want to be clear and say that I do not think its appropriate to bring a small child here on a Friday or Saturday night. This is a serious restaurant....many date nights etc occur here :)The food was, of course, amazing! I had the salmon and it was perfectly done. My husband had bouillabaisse-which he loved and mother in law had mussels. Get soufflé!"

  • "We love this place! Food is always good, not too much and not too little. Staff is always friendly and professional. Nice for a meal at the bar or with a group at a table. The regular menu items are fantastic and special, and the specials are fabulous. We have never been disappointed."

  • "When my wife and I go out without the kids, are looking for something special, something out of the ordinary. Les Folies was both. From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent. We were welcomed immediately, our coats were checked and w were seated (as the waiter pulled the chair out for my wife.) I have to say that things only got better from there. e food was amazing, everything they served was delicious! Now this is not a place to go for a quick meal, but a place to go for a wonderful dining experience with some one you wish to spend time with over a meal you won't forget!"

  • "I have lived in the Annapolis environs for years but never dined at Les Folies until this lunch. Friends had told me it was charming and delicious. They were correct! I'm a huge fan of calves liver which is rarely found on menus. Their preparation is flawless and delicious. My friend had the lunch special cod with crab and was most pleased. We shared the special fried oysters. I haven't had better oysters. The shared chocolate dessert was divine. We can't wait to return for dinner!"

  • "This was to have been a birthday dinner for my wife. It was a disaster from start to finish. After we were seated alone in a side room with no one to take drink orders, our guests were ignored at the door until finally being led to the table. Service was so slow that we had to ask a passing waitress whether we even had a waiter. The featured wine, a Cote d'Rhone was ordered but not available. When we asked for more bread, a busboy literally threw it into the middle of the table. Three of the dishes were passable, but the featured Dover Sole was tasteless. We went to this place a number of times, a while ago. I have no intention of ever going again. It was expensive and not worth the price."

  • "My colleagues and I had a wonderful lunch at Les Folies this week. It was a special celebration and when we arrived our table was adorned with shiny confetti. The food was fabulous, as always. That's what I like about Les Folies--they are consistent. I had the salmon over a bed of ratatouille which was absolutely lovely. Their complimentary french bread with unsalted butter was a perfect addition. My friends had the trout with lemon butter and almond slices with a pretty piped mound of mashed potatoes and bright, delicious string beans and carrots. Others had the french onion soup, which they raved about, with various salads. We all saved room for dessert, which I highly recommend. Excellent cappuccino. Always memorable. Love it!"

  • "Les Folies Brasserie was a real hit with our daughter who had lived in Paris for a year - authentic atmosphere, great food. Service was leisurely, not terribly so but just a little too laid back for our style."
