My husband and I made reservations here for our first visit to Montreal. In August 2014, it was rated as the #2 restaurant in the city (next to Europa). We chose it for its unique atmosphere and menu. Now -- it is # 1! We have dined in top restaurants all over the world. The food here was sublime and gastronomically beyond anything else we have experienced. We dined there on Friday evening, September 12th, celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary (drove up from southern VT). Every food item was "Incroyable" !!!

We read about this extraordinary place online, and despite the rave reviews, Les Deux Singes exceeded our expectations! The ambiance was lovely; cozy, comfortable but stylish. Our waiter was perfect; greeted us warmly, provided a wonderful wine recommendation, called us a cab at the end of the evening. The food is remarkable; sophisticated but clean and delicate; nothing heavy-handed here. We ate at Maison Boulud the following eventing, and compared to Les Deux Singes the food and service were nothing special at all. This is THE PLACE to dine in Montreal!!!

What a great meal ! We went with the reviews on Open table, they were exceeded. Maybe we got the good night or maybe the chef is always on his game and improving. Our waitress was on par with the food friendly, attentive and was part of the wonderful ambiance for the evening. This is a small place with a hip casual vibe that just delivers for the price.

We were staying in the old part of the city and I booked this, based on reviews, even though it was quite a distance from our hotel. It was a wonderful experience. We arrived early, were warmly greeted, and felt welcomed. Service was attentive without being annoying. The food was well prepared and interesting. Even for a weekend trip, I would definitely go back to this restaurant

If you love food, you will love this place. Dishes are seasonal and thoughtful. Each course is served with aplomb and attention to detail. Presentation is sublime and when you take your first bite, your mouth and tongue will dance for joy. Service is exemplary and in my view offers the perfect balance between respect for privacy and attention to the needs of the dinner. If you're looking for crisp white tableclothes, snooty waiters and pretentious food, don't come here. If you love dining somehere less formal where the emphasis is on cuisine, then make this your home. In fact I think I'll move from England to Canada just to eat here more often.

Ambience was understated but comfortable and relaxed. Same with the service - it was casual and unpretentious but very helpful. All this means the focus is on the food and they do an absolutely outstanding job. It was well-portioned, incredibly interesting and every-bite delicious. Found maybe that the wine selection takes a bit of a backseat but that's okay, the food is really the thing! Perfect meal in a perfect spot.

Was in Montreal for 4 days. Had several great meals, but this one was the best. Very creative presentation, but not overwrought. All of the flavors blended seamlessly in every dish. The chicken heart mousse and duck leg confit were the favorites. Beautiful, delicious food and a very accommodating and attentive staff. Cocktails were tasty and well-balanced. Truly a gem!

The food was phenomenal. Every bite was perfectly balanced so that each flavor complimented another. Even the dessert, a simple chocolate mousse, was elevated by the addition of graham crackers and cherry preserves. The service was exquisite. At no point were we rushed or neglected. Our silverware was changed out after every course to preserve the flavor of each course. It was by the far our best meal in Montreal.

I introduced some family members to Les Deux Singes the other night and our dining experience was a hit. From inspired cocktails, to a delectable amuse-bouche, mouth watering appetizers and our delicious main courses, the five of us at the table swapped tastes of our dishes so we could share in the joy of what we were eating. Duck ravioli, watermelon salad, scallop ceviche, beet & beef dumplings to start and the the famous pork belly, veal and fish dishes for mains. YUM YUM YUM! Crunchy crust baguette to soak up the sauce, well priced Cote Du Rhones wine, Iles Flottants and Chocolate Mousse for dessert and coffees to end the meal. A feast for the mouth and eyes! Service was warm, attentive and polished. The chefs are true artists!

I read about this restaurant on trip advisor. I was totally impressed by the pictures and reviews so decided to give it a try. By far the coolest vibe and food we tasted in the city. The owner was charming and also our waiter and that made it even more engaging. Small boutique restaurant with all the French flair one would expect in Montreal. The Food was King from the duck to the fish. Go for it you wont be disappointed.

My first time at this restaurant and it was magnificent – the food was absolutely stunning (I had the chicken heart pate and the duck ravioli). The presentation of the complete dish and the details of each ingredient on it, was perfect. The recommended wine was perfect too. I shouldn’t eat the bread (which was excellent) and leave space for desert. I’ll know better next time (can not wait to bring my wife to this place). Service was professional and very friendly. Just a warning: When you make your reservation, make sure to ask for a table (don't sit at the bar).

The food, the service, the mixology--all of it was beyond fabulous and lived up to other reviews. We really thought we scored huge by finding this place online--it was not near where we stayed in downtown Montreal and it was a refreshing departure!! We had the bison tartare, chicken heart pate, braised pork belly, and duck ravioli with mushrooms in a foie gras sauce. Every every bite was a symphony and we had to restrain ourselves from lifting the plate to lick it!! Cocktails were splendid too! Get to this place!!

Simple, friendly unpretentious honesty in comfortable, congenial surroundings. The optional seated bar set-up allows diners to see their food prepared and interact with the chefs who tried their best to respond. Great fresh ingredients, delicious flavours, varied textures and skillful use of herbs and spices made for an outstanding dining experience. The menu was short while providing a good range of choices - the result? consistently delivered high quality food across the menu. The wine list, displayed on the bistro-style chalk board, was also relatively short but quite varied and the hostess/owner was both knowledgeable and helpful. Overall this was a quality experience delivered by quality people - leaving the diner with a happy glow.

This small "edgy" place is as unpretentious as it gets. A very limited selection on the menu has us hoping what they do offer would be extraordinary, but alas no. The presentation was very nice, but the selection of flavors paired on the plate were discordant. The pork belly (about 3-4 ounces) was delicious but the pickled jalapeño, applesauce and other flavors on the plate did nothing to enhance the dish, instead it took away from it and let us wanting. We don't remember the appetizers because they were not memorable. Finally the wine list on the chalk board told of varietals and year but no vintner or regional information for many of the wines. We were so disappointed we skipped dessert.

A very small (24 seats at tables and 6-8 at the bar that surrounds two sides of the tiny open kitchen) place in a Bohemian neighborhood far enough from the city center that a tourist would really have to do his homework to discover it. The food was incredible -- every plate an artistic creation by the chef that combined multiple flavors into a wonderful whole. Service was perfect -- knowledgeable and attentive without being the least pretentious. A limited but carefully-chosen selection of wines. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. I have eaten in many restaurants in many places but few have been as memorable as this.

This restaurant is a gem for foodies, but do not expect elegant surroundings. The small space houses both the eight or so unclothed tables and the kitchen. The meal began with a gratis dish of an Asian soft roll filled with delectable combinations of meat and vegetables. The caramelized endive salad with it's creamed goat cheese sauce was outstanding and unique. One main dish--the duck ravioli with a foie gras cream sauce was a savory delight. The other--the Korean barbecue duck-- was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside-- prepared in two separate offerings, each a gustatory treat. The floating island desert was the best we've ever had.

The waiter was so knowledgeable, the food was so artistically presented and delicious, wine pairings are perfection and to boot we sat next to a couple who raved about their own experience (they were ending their meal as we were beginning ours). Take it from a born and bred Montrealer, this restaurant delivers the kind of sophisticated yet unpretentious dining experience that people coming to Montreal are (or should be) looking for. The starters and mains were creative and full of flavour. Great choice of wines by the glass (try the Sumur). Attentive and friendly staff. The style is casual bistro with the front of the restaurant open to the bustling activity of this old-style working-class neighbourhood. The dessert menu was limited, but the quality still good. Though I no longer live in Montreal, Les Deux Singes is definitely now high on my list of recommended restaurants in my home town.

It was love at first sight: From the minute I walked through the door and saw my name written on the table reserved for me and my friend, I knew that Les Deux Singes de Montarvie was special. The service was outstanding ( friendly, professional and without attitude), the food amazing ( texture, taste, colour, presentation:10 out of 10) and the ambience was mellow and upbeat with an eclectic music selection playing softly in the background. Les Deux Singes de Montarvie is foodie heaven.
