Les Bossus reviews from OpenTable diners
  • A pleasant bistro-style experience

This is a pleasant, unpretentious restaurant serving typical bistro fare. My partner had a classic steak-frites and I enjoyed a duck dish which was very tasty indeed. The wine list was reasonably priced and the staff was friendly and helpful. Despite a busy Saturday night the noise-level was tolerable. All in all an enjoyable experience.

The restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived at 6:30pm. Tables had started filling up by the time we left, so this would probably be a great place to go for a late meal too. The service was excellent -- attentive without being overbearing. The waiter joked with us in French and English. The food was superb. We had the duck and the black boudin. Dessert and wine were also wonderful. It is not right in the middle of the tourist area, but it was worth the short walk. We were so glad we went to Les Bossus for our anniversary meal!

We went a few times at Les Bossus, and it is always a pleasure. The food tastes great and is not too expensive. You have to try the desserts! Another thing: Les Bossus offers tea from Camellia Sinensis (not tea bags!), which is rare in Quebec City restaurants (even the greatest).

  • Excellent and highly recommended

Great restaurant with nice wine list. The wine list is chosen to be paired with the menu and clearly indicated next to each item on the black board. However they limit the wine list to different regions depending on the day and the menu, which also limits our choices. The menu is very small, however everything on the menu sounded absolutely delicious! Fine dining quality for a good price fit for a foodie. With that said, the waiters know their wine list and the food was excellent from appetizers to deserts. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant, however make reservations as it is fairly small.

I wanted to like Les Bossus more, but it turned out to be a generic experience with a generic menu, average food and dead ambiance. The space was well appointed in a brasserie décor, yet it all seemed somehow contrived at the end. The food was "fine" and unremarkable, the service good, yet rote. It lacked authenticity somehow.

I am so glad that great French bistros do not only reside in France! Les Bossus is very French in taste and quality, if you close your eyes and just went by your sense of smell and your sense of hearing, you would swear that you were sitting in a bistrot in St Germaine de Pres in the heart of Paris! This place really cooks up each dish right and you will not be disappointed with the quality of food that is served up here!

Really nothing special! All the meals were a little down compared to equivalent restarants in Montreal or Quebec. Absolutely not in the same class than the Graffiti, l'Échaudé, Café Ciccio in Quebec or l'Express and chez Julien in Montréal! The tartare de boeuf was not good, the salade endives-roquefort had no roquefort and etc.etc. Not to recommend!

We had an early dinner (5pm) therefore the establishment was empty at our arrival. Therefore, the noise level was low at the time. Clean, individual washrooms are a definite plus. The decor (paintings on a brick wall) gave the Pub-style atmosphere a touch of class. Service was expeditious, couteous and efficient, however, our welcome felt somewhat cold and business like instead of warm and friendly. Nevertheless, our waiter was professional and answered all of our questions in a clear and knowlegdeable manner. We had a special promotion rebate which brought our bill to a reasonable amount. We would have felt the bill was too expensive for the quality of food and the atmosphere of the restaurant if we had paid the full price.

Everytime I go to Quebec City, I have a hard time finding a good restaurant, inside of the tourist zone anyways. I decided to try out this one in Nouvo St-Roch as it is just a little off of the Old Port and that I had read excellent reviews about it. Turns out the restaurant and the plates look good and everything is at a very reasonable price. However, the service wasn't so great. The waiter didn't explain what were the specials of the night and didn't seem too happy to be there but maybe he was just shy... Wine list is not so great, ordinary wines that you can finding anytime at the local SAQ... Finally, some of the food tasted good (Zucchini soup, sausage) but the sauce of the veal didn't taste much, the fries were cooked in bad oil.
