  • "We were 5 for dinner and had each had 3 courses, generally different, so we saw different dishes. All very good to excellent and the service was very attentive. Only negative was the fact that the table was 3 tables for 2 pushed together - so we were sitting 3 on one side and 2 on the other side. The table edges were not level so we couldn't get the 2 persons 'centered'. It was awkward for conversation considering the ambient noise level. Too bad there were not a few round tables - but it is a small dining space."

  • "Came here for a friend's birthday and had the tasting menu w/wine pairings. The food was quite good, creative, and beautiful. We both found it interesting that the last two courses on the tasting menu were basically dessert, but we loved them! Service(with the exception of the sommelier) was another story. Pretty slow between courses. We noted food allergies in the booking, on the day of confirmation call, and again when we selected the tasting menu. Our 1st course still contained the items. They then half corrected it replacing one of our plates while the other person(who wasn't allergic but not to have them on her's either) moved them to the side. They then gave her another course later with items on our "list" in another course."

Les 400 Coups was by far the best meal this weekend, and may I add rivaled a meal we recently had at Cityzen (Mandarin Oriental DC). Plus, our waiter was a hoot! Loved loved loved listening to what he "saw" when he described eating certain dishes..."

  • "This was by far one of the most disappointing experiences in a long time I don't mind paying for good quality and tasty food Nothing that we ordered on their menu (which happens to be very limitative) was worth the $ they charge. The service was average. We originally wanted to do the tasting menu but there's one thing that I just couldn't have because I dislike it much, instead of recommending something else or offering to replace it with something else, I was pretty much told to look for something else on the menu. We served our own wine, the waiter served it once and then for the rest of the bottle we did our own service. I would not recommend this place. "

  • "I was visiting Montreal for the weekend and wanted to try out some of its noted restaurants. The 400bLows was on the list and i was able to snag a seat at the bar. I was unsure of what to expect but very quickly I was wowed by a Nova Scotia Trout followed by a Rabbit Tagliatelle and a Peach sorbet and caramel cream desert that was outstanding. The wines that accompanied two of the courses were perfectly chosen by my server as was the aperitif that started the proceedings. A memorable and high class affair all round."

Our server also made a great wine pairing recommendation that nicely complimented the rich duck magret we ordered.   • "We tried the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was outstanding from beginning to end. The pairing of the main course of rabbit with a German pinot noir was absolutely inspired. This ranked among the very best dish/wine combinations I have ever had. The pace of the courses and portions were perfect. The service staff are highly professional but also relaxed and friendly. The sommelier is amazing. Waiters are all completely proficient in both English and French. We left completely satisfied and will be back. Its not for the faint of wallet, but for a rare special occasion I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough."

  • "This was our first visit to Les 400 Coups. Ever since I had seen it listed in an EnRoute magazine article, "Canada's Best New Restaurants 2011" a couple of years ago, I had wanted to try it. I had a cream of parnsip soup as my lunchtime entrée. Each morsel was a complex bouquet of flavours. The arctic char tortellini was also packed with rich flavour; again a veritable delight and discovery with each bite. And of course the chocolate dessert was perfect complement to an already wonderful gastronomic experience. Throughout the meal, my dining companions and I tried to guess the various ingredients and array of flavours. We will certainly add it to our list of favourite restaurants. "

The food presentation on the plate was most artistic and thoughtful. Excellent choices of beverages were available to accompany the meal. The service was impeccable.
