A word from Leonora
Hip, energetic and upscale, yet delightfully unpretentious. The cuisine is inspired by the high alpine cultures of the Alps, Pyrenees and our own Colorado Mountains. Executive Chef Sergio Howland utilizes the best,
fresh local and organic ingredients to create amazing Tapas, Crudo and
Alpine Bistro fare. Leonora respects the pure ingredients with
simply prepared, ingredient-driven dishes thoughtfully paired with an
extensive wine program central to the dining experience.

Leonora reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Great Dining Experience

I ate here with my wife and 5 year old daughter on a Friday night. Good wine selection and like many other reviews, the tapas were good but the entrees were great. I had the lamb and my wife had the pappardelle. Both were amazing. They also had a typical kids menu. We almost did not go because of some of the negative reviews. What a great meal we would have missed and I am glad I went there to try it for myself!

So on the bright side, the staff is very friendly and they were super nice when we had to wait over 45 minutes for a table when we had made a reservation about a month in advance. We enjoy tapas restaurants and were really looking forward to this dinner, but found the tapas to be disappointing. They were closer to what you would expect at a bar. Very over priced bar appetizers instead of good tapas. One person did order the tenderloin dinner and thought that was very good, so maybe stick with the entrees. We just didn't feel the food quality was in line with the hype.

Worth every penny. Food was great, wine list was impressive. The only complaint I have.... When a group of 8 comes in and orders 7 bottles of wine with their apps, entrees, and desserts; the server better not make faces that we are keeping them late. You left that night with a $180 tip from our table alone. You're welcome.

  • Vail most underrated spot

Small plates and tapas keep getting better at Leonora. My girlfriend and I came back into one of our favorite spots from last winter on a mid week night and I have to say Leanora has not missed a beat since then. Even with the recent departure of their executive Chef the food was superb. We shared 8 plates plus 2 desserts, leaving satisfied but not overly full. Don't miss the Diver Scallop Crudo, Mussels, Califlower, Octopus and deconstructed Lemon Cream Pie, all the food was amazing but those dishes truly stood out.

We had never heard of this restaurant but it was recommended by a local. We ordered a few small plates as our main course and the food was excellent. The waiter was very attentive and made a number of recommendations that were all delicious. The restaurant has an attractive interior as well. I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

What a fab place! Great atmosphere, remarkable fit out, knowledgeable staff, amazing menu. Our experience was ruined by the over-salination of virtually every dish. The turbot with white beans was the worst, I tasted my lady's dish and I could barely swallow it. The chef came and enquiries of every table, we told him and he said that it would gave been good to have known at the time. But the service, which was initially first class, dropped as our mains were served, because the place was over-run by a 7pm influx of customers, so we didn't gave anyone to tell! We were all (7 of us) so disappointed, because EVERYTHING else was amazing.

Sat at the tapas bar and met a great mixologist Sara. Her cocktail creations are refreshing, not cloying. She has a great attitude and the veggie tapas flavors are interesting. One can pick up the individual flavors of each ingredient. Best to eat early as it gets busy later on Saturday.

Just pure awful. we were a group of 9 and were put in a private room. the food selection was poor and the service was worse than poor. It was very overpriced for what we got. How do you even screw up a pasta dish?! I can see why the place is virtually empty. I would never go back again nor would I recommend it to anyone when they are in Vail. All other places we ate at were superb and would go back to in a heartbeat but not at Leonora.

Reserved this restaurant well in advance but needed to add one more to our reservation and was told they couldn't fit any more at our table. But when we arrived they put us in their private dinning room that was huge and clearly could've accommodated several more! I was not happy having told someone they could not join us!!!! Tapas were mediocre, my salad was drenched with dressing, soup cold (even after sending back for reheat) and dinners very late. Our sever was very nice but overall I would recommend. Too many other good places in vail to go.

In a town known for overpriced dining and inconsistent service, we felt lucky to find Leonora. Our servers bent over backwards to make sure we had a good experience and we certainly did. They guided us to several options and when we chose to stick with tapas, and very happily coursed our dinner appropriately. This place is wonderful for the more casual dinner we enjoyed, or a higher end special occasion meal. The food was wonderful and beverage service quite accommodating. We will be recommending Leonora to friends and family when they travel to Vail!

Service was very bad. Our waiter never seemed to be around and the staff was uncoordinated. The food would arrive and the plates were missing. Sparkling water and flat water were mixed. They had a truffle risotto which was excellent. Ordered the entree size ($40) and portion was tiny. We questioned the waiter and he said that was indeed the size. So we ordered another one and a few minutes later he tells us they were all out. It seemed that we got the very last bit of the batch, therefore the small size. Some dishes were good (croquetas, piquillos) but the others were just OK. Not what we expected from the ratings and definitely not to standard if you travel a lot and are used to world class restaurants.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP
    Dined on 12/27/2013
I have been coming to Vail for 25 years and hands down this was the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant of this level and price point. It's really too bad as some of the food was very good. A 45 minute wait for an appetizer pizza, another 35 minutes for entrees with no attention from the manager or apology from the waiter. Worse, it wasn't that the GM or manager wasn't around or available as we saw them visit other tables. Simply put, I wanted to like Leonara but with service like what we experienced, there's no reason to go back with so many other great restaurants in Vail with the service to match.

In Sebastian Hotel, tiny space (15 tables)offers superb service, trendy atmosphere, hipster crowds. specialty drink menu yielded the Antioxidant, fresh citrus, pomegranate raspberry liquor, vodka. Fixed price dinner menu limited. Kobe sliders succulent, crispy sweet potato fries. simple greens salad was huge, plenty big to share. Hanger steak done perfectly, incredible tempura veggies, overly rich dabs of potato confit that did not add to the plate. Partner's 5 ounce portion of Atlantic salmon (fixed price menu), cannelloni/kale, tasty but ordinary. Baked Alaska had bland, chewy bottom;peppermint ice cream, chocolate mousse and cookie crumbs very delicious. reservations a must. Come to sample tapas, Spanish sangria. Service was perfect!

i took a group of 4. wanted something a little different, as most of us work in the restaurant industry. we opted for the the 3 course prefix dinner, and ordered a few additional apps. we enjoyed the calamari and the fried olives. Most of us chose the steak entree and we all enjoyed that dish. However, the potato portion was a bit underwhelming. The prefix was a great deal considering a glass of wine and 3 courses were included. My only suggestion would be to include more than two entree options. Although the prefix menu streamlines food prep, it doesnt showcase enough of what the chef can do. Our sever was exceedingly accommodating and prompt. he really enhanced the dining experience. all left happy and impressed with our experience.

Went in the off season for a prix fixe menu. Everything was very good although I think they keep it very simple this time of year. I bet the winter menu will blow you away. The "house" wine was terrible jug wine that sells for $4/bottle. Skip that and pay for something better. Overall good food and service.

I thought the smoke flavor in the butternut squash risotto overpowered everything else in the dish. I would rather taste the natural sugars in the squash . I am truly tired of every chef trying to make every dish taste like bacon. Also, the salmon dish was over-salted. Also, I don't believe a restaurant EVER should insist "No substitutions". The prixe fixe menu included a dessert and they could easily have given us a salad instead if we did not want dessert.
