Diner Reviews
  • "I had out of town guests from a sophisticated west coast city and recommended the Lemon Grass. All of my guests enjoyed the food immensely and the desserts were a real hit. It took longer than usual for our food to arrive but our server did apologize. I recommend this restaurant for its excellent and unique cuisine and very comfortable atmosphere."

  • "After waiting in excess of 45 minutes for our food - the waitress kept saying it will be right out - we asked for the check, paid for our appetizers and left never to return"

  • "As always it never disappoints with a great Kobe steak and amazing Thai food."

  • "I've been here several times and have enjoyed each visit. Food is good, selection is interesting, service is first rate. Only problem: when there are larger groups in the restaurant the noise level raises too high making it impossible to have a conversation."

  • "Lemon Grass is doubtless one of the best restaurants in Syracuse. From the attentive wait staff to the meals which are like pieces of art and taste as good as they look, the experience is always terrific!"

  • "I had the shrimp curry, my husband had the short ribs and wow that's why it's so good. They can pull of a good curry and delicious short ribs. It was dining week and the service was still good. The place was packed. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone as they can satisfy American and a craving for Thai."

  • "Our reservation was on a Monday, and when we got to the restaurant, our coats were checked, and we were seated right away. We received the special Dine Out Downtown week menu, and to my dismay, it was not the same as the one that had been posted online. I mentioned this to the server, and showed him the one that had been posted online, and he accommodated my wishes for one of the dishes on the online menu. The food arrived in a timely manner - the corn and crab soup was outstanding, as was the panang curry beef dish. I was pretty sad to see each dish end. The desserts, which the Lemongrass is famous for, are not included in the Dine Out week menu, but are well worth the splurge. Overall - a great experience."

  • "Mark Moncavage was our waiter. He did an outstanding job. Most definitely the best waiter ever. My wife and I lived our meals and our special night out together. The tables were just a bit too close though."

  • "The fixed price menu is perfect with many great choices. Everything is high class. We will be back!"

  • "My date and I went for Valentine's Day, one day early. She had never been to this restaurant, and I hadn't been there for about ten years. Our soups (butternut squash for her, tom yum for me), entrees (surf and turf for her, swordfish for me), and dessert (chocolate can-can) were all presented beautifully and hit all the right notes for flavor, texture, and temperature. A specialty drink, a glass of cabernet, and a selection from the varied list of quality beers were all perfect. Service by Mark was professional and blended perfectly with the quality of the food and ambiance. Total for everything before tip was $142 and we felt it was money well spent. We loved the paintings and the Thai decor, too. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Lemon Grass Continues to offer great food in one of The best atmospheres in Syracuse. I often enjoy lunch and occasionally dinner both always leave me happy."

  • "Our food was very good. The service was fine. We were seated so close to another couple that you could not have a private conversation. I could smell her perfume and it was annoying. The waiter had to squeeze between our tables to give them their food. I would request a table that was more private next time"

  • "Too expensive for an OK food. This place wouldn't survive a year in NYC."

  • "I expected more. Hadn't been there in few years, and went with a group this weekend. Food was average. Certainly wasn't bad, but nothing outstanding. Service was slow, but they were busy that night."

  • "This was our second time at this restaurant and have been impressed both times. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and quickly seated. The menu is very interesting with a mixture of Thai and American choices. We were with my son who ordered the CAB ribeye which was reasonably priced and cooked to perfection. I ordered as my main meal the bowl of Tom yum soup. It was over the top delicious. A patron at the table next to us ordered it as well and was raving about it. My wife enjoyed a shrimp dish which was presented beautifully. Lemon Grass is a top end restaurant with very reasonable prices. Don't pass it up."

  • "My husband and I went to Lemon Grass for dinner for the first time this week. We have known of it for years, but always thought it was going to be too expensive. It was a special occasion for us so we tried it. The prices were reflective of fine dining, but they were not unreasonable. The food was fresh, the flavors layered and perfectly complex. We enjoyed it immensely! Our server was very knowledgable and helpful. The extended servers kept my husbands glass of water full (which can be a challenge). We had a nice time in the comfortable atmosphere and will definitely go back."

  • "Overall the restaurant, which I have visited 7 or 8 times over the past few years is good. My concern are the prices, which it seems to usually run $250 to $300 for my wife and I. This past time was very expense and I was surprised to see the cost of the deserts. As I compare to other restaurants I find I receive more value at the others places we visit"

  • "The food at Lemon Grass is excellent. Though I return every time for their desserts. Their dessert chef is amazing. A great Syracuse find."

  • "I love Thai food, they gave what was expected BUT the pork chop - OMG! I never order pork chops or most pasta out to dinner. I can make most of those dishes. I had the tofu & shrimp tandirind but my husband ordered the pork chop (meat and safe is his usual). This was like no other - crispy and tastiness full of Thai spice on the outside, then tender and perfectly done on the inside!!! I can't wait to go back to order the whole thing for myself!!!"

  • "I eat here a fair amount, and I have my favorite dishes. This time, I went off-script, and the pork shoulder was delicious. The wine I ordered was nowhere to be found, and the waitress recommended something that a customer has been surprised to find on their list. It was definitely interesting (and less expensive than my initial choice.) I got to pick my table and was pleased with our placement for the occasion. The thai food is good; I love the classics. This is a good choice if you want to eat downtown at a very nice place."

  • "I asked for a special consdideration for a quiet area due to a need for a medical condition. When We arrived the Host had our special request ready and seated us accordingly. Was fantastic service."

  • "We were seated next to the window and it was freezing. Service was very slow. You could hear every word said at the table next to you given the format. Food was ok but seems to have really gone downhill the last few years. Not worth the price especially given service and ambiance"

  • "The food here was very good. I would like to see a larger menu with a wider variety of soups and entrees."

  • "It is our tradition to have dinner at Lemon Gras for my wife's birthday. This time, it had to be special because her father's hospitalization forced us to cancel our vacation. What better place for a special dinner than Lemon Grass! The food was outstanding (as always). The fois gras was spectacular bringing a smile to her face for the first time in days. She even went to the kitchen to give the chef a kiss. Dinner was exceptional and the service could not be better. They staff made us feel vey special. We topped the evening off with one of my favorite bourbons. All and all, dining at Lemon Gras is always a very special treat"

  • "Took five of my foodie friends for a shopping weekend. We showed up 1/2 hour before closing, and they Stayed open over an hour past closing to make us happy. The pad Thai was the best! Highly recommend. What a nice, friendly restaurant. Beautiful art. Enjoyable experience overall! Will definitely go again!"

  • "The best of both worlds. Food and service! Ask for Charles section. The food was superb and the service was second to none."
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "The food is fantastic and well presented. The choice is very good. Beware that the price can increase because various sides are extra. The menu was a bit difficult to navigate. And the wait person was anxious to add on options. But if you take your time to understand what is being offered, you will be guaranteed a delicious meal. Even if you pride yourself as being a pretty good home cook, a visit to the Lemon Grass will be rewarded and might up the bar on your home cooking. The food and presentation is fantastic. The ambiance is so-so because the room is small and the noise level is a bit high. If I owned the place I would try to lower the noise level. It's not a bar scene. Don't miss this great restaurant."

  • "Food was very good & creative ideas. Felt it was a little pricey for the location. It's not NYC! Also was told they took the pad thai off the menu for family weekend at SU. Disappointed in that because that is a staple & always good to have on a thai restaurant menu"

  • "I had heard great things about this restaurant, so I figured I would try it. That was a huge mistake because the waitress was rude and the food wasn't amazing. Definitely never going again."

  • "The staff at the Jefferson-Clinton strongly recommended Lemon Grass. The greeting at the door was warm and I was seated immediately. The dining room is well lit and is dominated by large paintings that are bright and cheerful. The wine list is extensive, though geared to bottles rather than by the glass. My server was attentive throughout without being intrusive. I had an excellent starter of a composed salad with carmelized pear and Maytag blue cheese, followed by a perfectly grilled 1 1/2 lb. lobster over a curry containing shrimp, scallops, chicken, and noodles. Ended a perfect meal with a chocolate dome. I am looking forward to my next visit."

  • "We were in your resto a couple of years ago and remembered it fondly. We were happy to come back again for our weekend stay in Syracuse, and even dined with you two nights in a row. Great service and delicious food."

  • "The food was amazing. It always is. However, my girlfriend and I were put right next to a group of 6 who was very loud and about two feet away. I could have held hands with the table next to me. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday, as it's her favorite restaurant in Syracuse, and it was ruiend by our table location. They are so focused on fitting as many people as they can that you lose out on the dining experience. I could not even have a conversation without raising my voice. We were both very disappointed with the dining, not the food or service."

  • "The food was very good. Our server was new and very friendly. You could tell she was trying very hard. The kitchen was backed up so food took a while at times but it was worth the wait. My husband was farly annoyed when he had to wait and wait for his fancy beer... Some people were served before others.(again it was very busy) it was not our servers fault... She was great I want to go back when we are vititing CUSS again my husband wants to try some place else. The Messiaman curry with beef tender loin was exceptional.w"
