  • "Jordan has waited on us two consecutive times and each time his level of service was impeccable. Our normal date night is on Mondays but when we choose to go to Lemaire we will switch our date night to Tuesday given this is the only night he works there. Great job Jordan keep up the fine service it is becoming a lost art and our appreciation for the dedication to your craft is appreciated and genuine. "

  • "Elegant and sophisticated. Food creative and expertly prepared with ingredient and flavor pairings that accentuated the dish. Very extensive world wine list with many selections from many different countries and regions, priced about 2 - 2.5 times retail. Overall not cheap - most entrees about $30; side dishes $5; salads, soups, appetizers average about $10; desserts about $9. So, a meal with salad, entrée, side dish and dessert would total about $55. If you're looking for a bargain - forget it. If you're looking for a classic meal with a creative flair, impeccably prepared and an overall elegant dining experience, go for it."

  • "Our Flounder, Grouper and Chicken was excellent--the meal far exceeded our expectations. Service was slow as the waitress had a large table to tend to and was not really attentive."

  • "The waiter was pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient, the restaurant beautiful and the food was out of this world. Everything was fresh, seasoned just right and cooked beautifully. I would highly recommend Lemaire."

  • "Our waiter was attentive never allowing our wine glass to dip below 1/4. The timing on each course was impeccable. And everyone spoke when we arrived and as we were leaving. Wonderful dining experience"

  • "The Le Maire is located in a beautiful, old historic hotel. The interior of the restaurant is classic with marble throughout much of the place. You have a feeling that you are going back in time to an age of elegance. The service was generally good, although there were spaces of time when we could not locate our waitress. I tried the butternut squash soup. It was very good, but only lukewarm. I also tried the salmon. The salmon itself was very good and well prepared. I would certainly recommend it. The Brussels sprouts and carrots served with the salmon were completely raw and so hard that I could not eat them. I think that the cook was gone to far in trying to avoid overcooked vegetables. Deserts were adequate, but uninspiring."

  • "There really is no other restaurant like this in Richmond, a throwback to what real dining was all about, perfect!"

  • "Amazing food and service for our anniversary. Found this restaurant through the food network."

  • "This is a restaurant not to be missed in any trip to Richmond. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and there are a variety of spots for any occasion, a bar with wonderful views, a less upscale eatery, and a formal dining room. Food is very good, although desserts might use some improvement. In any case, I wouldn't miss an opportunity to go back."

  • "The service, food and atmosphere are so good on a continuous basis that you begin to take it for granted. Richmond is so blessed to have the Jefferson Hotel and Lemaire. Elegant dining at it's best!"

  • "Wonderful dining experience. Pleasant and polite waitstaff provided superb service."

  • "The expansive and comfortable bar alone is worth a trip to The Jefferson. The drinks are generous, the service is congenial and efficient, the seating areas in either the marble hall or in the windowed area fronting Franklin Street are inventive and comfortable and make you feel like someone special. Indeed, if a movie is being filmed in Richmond, you may see a famous actor or two relaxing with a drink. As for the food, the menu is varied and all offerings are excellent. The entrees for seafood or steaks are really no more expensive than similar entrees at smaller neighborhood restaurants. They use local when possible so it's always fresh, and again the service is exceptional. This is the place to go to treat yourself and/or someone else."

  • "Special night in a place that I was married in 25 years ago. Excellence still remains as a part of this elegant historical hotel. Dinner was fabulous."

  • "We return to this restaurant often and mainly because of its excellent service and good food. They rarely disappoint us. However, I was disappointed to learn that they are discontinuing service of small plates."

  • "Lemaire is our favorite pick for out of town business guests and this visit was no exception with regard to the quality and presentation of the food. However service was remarkably slow this evening, despite early arrival and absence of a crowd. We can afford to overlook that single flaw in light of the rest of our experience. Appetizers were amazing, a wide variety of entrees all were impressive and delicious. There wasn't room for dessert but that didn't keep us from ordering a few selections for the table to share. There is nothing NOT to like about Lemaire!!"

  • "Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. The duck was perfectly prepared, with purple top turnips as a side. along with black Thai rice. The wine list is very favorably priced, with some real bargains, like the Saxon Brown Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir. Dessert choice were excellent. You have to put aside the unwelcoming staff in the hotel, who seemed disinterested and unhelpful at our arrival and departure (we were not staying at the Jefferson as it was full), but the dining room staff was very knowlegeable and provided excellent service."

  • "This is one of our favorite places to eat, and we love to take visitors to Lemaire, walk them down the grand staircase at the Jefferson, and have the so awestruck that they forget where they left the car. Usually. This time the food was a bit off usual standards. The guests were still awestruck by the staircase."

  • "The occasion for our meal was a milestone birthday of a friend. Except for a mediocre martini that our server cheerfully replaced with a slightly improved one, the meal was flawless. The server recommended the rockfish which we all ordered. It was good and perfectly cooked, if not extraordinary. The meal met, but did not exceed, our expectations. The server, cheerful and attentive, and the elegant ambiance were what made it a memorable evening."

  • "Excellent food, impecable service, beautiful dining area. The best place to go for any special occasion, or just to enjoy fine dining."

  • "The place is in the gorgeous Jefferson hotel. Restored decor from the early 1900s--on a grand scale. Just walking through the lobby makes our jaw drop. The dining rooms are formalistic, but quiet, with a kind of charm. Maybe it is the paintings and the servers. Menue is innovative with fine seafood and steak, from our one dinner. Service is excellent--friendly without being too informal or obtrusive. Not a gourmet paradise, but a place for an excellent dinner, with some Southern creativity and charm in the food preparation, service, and ambiance."

  • "I was looking for a special dining experience for my wife's 40th birthday and Lemaire provided just that. They supplied the single rose at the perfect time, the service was attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was very pleasing. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars on the food was that one guest informed me the following day that his pork chop was very dry. I wish he would have made that known at the time to give Lemaire the opportunity to correct it."

  • "This restaurant is like my second home. If it is for a business dinner or a lovely meal with a visiting friend, this is my go-to location. I have taken food critics, politicians, international CEOs, heads of state and of course my family here for dinner and I am never let down...The food is fabulous yet not too fussy...local, farm to table and yet always consistent. The ambiance is elegant yet not too overly stodgy. The bar is always warm and inviting yet fun and trendy. I have seen the twenty somethings congregate there to start their evenings out...and the movers and shakers in Richmond gather to talk business. The bartenders are welcoming and very personable. Walter Bundy is an amazing chef, I look forward to the seasonal menu changes."

  • "I was absolutely taken back at how beautiful The Jefferson Hotel is and Lemaire's bar does not let you down. The was ample seating for enjoying a cocktail before dinner. Which was likely one of the best drinks I ever had. The service was outstanding. The waiters, bartenders, etc never let an empty glass or empty plate sit for more than 30 seconds."

  • "Food was great (spoon bread was awesome!) and the waiter was wonderful too--not snobby like similar types of restaurants"

  • "I chose this restaurant based on others reviews. Was very disappointed. The seared steak was actually a charred steak. The special appetizer was fried cheese that was still cold inside. The scallops were combined with overdone vegetables. Will never go back."

  • "Well I will never eat there again. I ordered the prime rib ($40) for a 7oz cut and it was horrible. It had so much fat that I honestly believe I could have gone to food lion and purchased a better cut for a third if the price. My wife ordered the scallops she said they tasted ok but only received 3 1/2 pieces. Really 3 1/2 why not just make it 4 scallops. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone for the price of the food go to the store and buy it yourself and cook it at home."

  • "What a great dinner! The restaurant (and hotel) is gorgeous. A great, inexpensive wine list. Very good service. This is a winner all the way around. Will definitely return."

  • "I had to fly into richmond for one night for work and decided to give lemaire. A shot. I was extremely surprised and excited to see that they provided a happy hour at the bar and since I was alone this was perfect. Three appetizers for $20. And delicious wine to pair for $5. Can't beat this for top notch elegance. Will be back"

  • "My wife and I went to Lemaire to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary. We started in the bar with a couple of drinks and followed with dinner in the restaurant. The food was excellent but drinks were very small! Still, overall it was a very nice evening. We would recommend to anyone that may need to spend special time together!"

  • "Richmond can compete with food destinations thanks to Lemaire's artful use of local ingredients. The dining room and bar open onto the impressive entrance to the Jefference, making even arrival a celebration."

  • "First time dining at Lemaire. Absolutely loved our meal from start to finish! Our waiter was outstanding, and was able to suggest a great wine pairing for our meal. Felt like they bent-over-backwards to deliver outstanding service from the moment we sat down!"

  • "You're paying for the old school charm of the hotel and the service. The food was good but a little salty on the meat and the bread was too dry. This was a nice place to go to for an occassion but definitely not a place you would dine often at. Too pricey for the quality of the food served. The service was great though."

  • "The food and ambiance at Lemaire were excellent as expected. My husband and I thought that our experience lived up to the hype of one of Richmond's best restaurants in one of the most historic landmarks in the city! I highly recommend the experience to anyone!"
