Diner Reviews
  • "Nothing special, just OK, food quality is acceptable, but not at Chicago downtown restaurant level. We went because of the live music, which was OK and made our experience there better."

  • "I enjoyed French Onion Soup, then scampi with pasta. My husband loves the pate with toast, then he had the Mussels. As usual, the service and cuisine were excellent."

  • "For one perfect evening I thought we were in France."

  • "Although L"Eiffel has been around awhile I only recently gave it a chance, boy that was a mistake; I wish I'd gone sooner! The food is authentic European and well priced and presented. Having celiac disease I need a gluten free diet and there is plenty for me to choose from. So much so that after 3 visits I still haven't tried their gluten free crepes as there is always something else to tempt me. They have a great "prix fixe" menu and the wine selection is extensive. Mondays is half price per bottle of wine if dining in. A great time to try an expensive wine without blowing the budget. Would definitely put this gem on your go to list."

  • "It's wonderful to have a lovely restaurant in this area with good food that isn't part of a chain. The ambience is charming, the food is great and a large selection of wines. Highly recommend L'Eiffel Bistrot and Creperie"

  • "Everyone's food in our group was outstanding. The wine and deserts too. And the service was very good too."

  • "The food, service and atmosphere never fails here, and on this occasion it lived up to it's reputation for excellence."

  • "Enjoyed the food and the climate of the area. Great for lunch with friends."

  • "I went during Bastille day so it is easy to imagine how busy it was. Even with reservations my wife and I had to wait, but we just parked ourselves at the bar, drank some surprisingly fantastic absinthe, and talked with others around us. The atmosphere was French-tastically exquisite. There was a talented man was walking around with an accordion, and occasionally a group of high schoolish aged dancers and actors would preform for everyone. The food was perfect. My wife and I know we will return again sometime or another."

  • "We were looking on opentable for a table in the area we were. Found this one. Did your booking. Got our confirmation... We arrive there and the restaurant was closed. We are highly disappointed."

  • "The crepes are deliciousand the quiche is exceptional. I had the roasted vegetable quiche and highly recommend it."

  • "Good spot! Building is beautiful. Server wasn't as well versed in the food/wine as I expected but very nice anyhow. Everyone was very friendly. Good, solid food, but not amazing, knock my socks off. But for the price, I was very happy with it."

  • "We had a lovely evening at L'Eiffel Bistro. The outdoor terrace is an oasis in this suburban area. As always, great food and attentive service."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "We like the booth in the back of the restaurant. I had a delicious filet mignon, and my husband had lamb shank. No complaints. Good service also."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "I liked the restaurant, but I think it's better suited for women, as the portions were "dainty" and the ambiance was a bit more reserved. Overall, though, the food tasted good and the service was great."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "2nd time we've been here. So many other nice places nearby, so probably won't return. Jr server was nice, but had no info on wines. Food took forever-reason given was kitchen got busy. Restaurant was not full, so didn't really understand that explanation."

  • "Food was great. Enjoyed the wine. Attentive wait staff. A little bit of France in Barrington."

  • "This is one of those restaurants that we keep going back to because the food and service is consistent time after time. French prepared food and French wine is a great complement and the selections here are superior."

  • "We love this place. We went late afternoon and found it disappointing. The service was very slow. It seemed even though they were open it seemed everyone was taking a break. The food is awesome, the sangria is the best around."

  • "L'Eiffel Bistrot has been my go-to French place in the suburb. Great atmosphere with the large windows and high ceiling. Good wine list, and a good collection of Absinthe. The menu has been simplified a bit to the standard bistro offering, and they do it right. I would go there for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Recommended."

  • "We enjoy sitting at a booth in the back. We have been there 5 times and the service is always very good. I had sole almondine, and my husband had escargots followed by steak tartare. Everything was delicious."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "The only thing I wished for at L'Eiffel Bistrot was another stomach to take in every amazing item on the menu! DO NOT MISS the steak tartare appetizer -- THIS is life-changing! The crepes are flat-out awesome -- all bold flavors but with the culinary sureness to not only engage your taste buds but cause them to stand up and cheer. Perfectly curated wine list... THIS is our new favorite dining spot! And with prices that, while not "cheap," are nonetheless remarkably modest for such a totally off-the-charts outstanding dinner, it won't break your bank to visit again... and again. In a perfect world, I could re-eat last night's dinner over a dozen times. OMFG!!"

  • "Not only did we find a nice assortment of crepes for your meal or dessert, the other dishes of pork and lamb were prepared exceptionally. Service was attentive and prompt. The server interacted with our grandson prividing excellent service, just as he did with the rest of our table. The desserts were delicious with a nice selection. We chose to dine inside, though there was ample dining space outside as well."

  • "I took both my mother and mother-in-law here on two separate days for lunch; both experiences were fantastic. The food was excellent and the service was 'just right'. Will be going back for a 'date night' soon :)"

  • "WEE WEE is YES YES in French & I highly recommend as this is close to a 5 star rating as it was delicious creperies (we each ordered a diff. one to taste & try & every bite was delicious and flavorful) fluffy quiche that 3 of us shared and we were satisfied; full to our brims! Server was pleasant & around just enough to assist. Dessert was awesome! We celebrated my girlfriends birthday for lunch & enjoyed a wonderful day! WEE WEE this is a keeper; will repeat visits here as well as entertain family, friends & business clients! It offers a nice blend with a nice atmosphere; we sat in a bright area as it was a sunny nice day! (they offer other rooms & have a bar area too) Ocean crepe, shrimp crepe & chicken crepe = all 3 yummy! "

  • "The service and kitchen staff were exceptionally accommodating considering my gluten free dietary needs. I ordered the Croque Monsieur Frites on gluten free bread, and it was delicious! For dessert, I indulged in a gluten free Nutella crepe. What a treat!"

  • "We've always enjoyed the food and service at L'Eiffel Bistro and our recent visit re-confirmed why. We were provided excellent service by our waiter and wait staff, and the food was excellent. My wife's cornish hen was prepared as well as any she's ever had, and my sea bass was fresh, and well accompanied by spinach and couscous. A great restaurant serving excellent food. The Champy wine was also excellent! "

  • "L'Eiffel serves delicious traditional french cuisine with a focus on crepes but also has outstanding seafood selections and steaks. Service is gracious and helpful but never hovering. Wines by the glass are great varieties to compliment the food. Consistently enjoy tasty crepes, salads, quiches and appetizers at this suburban gem."

  • "Went for a quick birthday lunch and it was great! This was the first time I'd been there for lunch, the last time was for Father's Day brunch in 2013. The crepes were good (wish the salad was larger and lettuce fresher) but dessert was GREAT! Next time, I'm trying the Croque Monsieur, saw it coming through the dining room and it looked delicious. A special birthday dessert plate was a big hit. The chocolate mousse was heavenly - could go just for that. The profiteroles were made with ice cream instead of cream. I was surprised how much I enjoyed them as I am not an ice cream eater. Everyone had a great time and would love to go again - soon! The staff was great and very helpful."

  • "Went here for lunch. Had the L'Ocean crepe and my friend had the crab cake special with kale salad. She didn't care for the kale but said the crab cake was wonderful. My crepe was outstanding - I always try to order them here. Sure wish they would put them back on the dinner menu. After all it's a French restaurant, don't understand why they wouldn't have crepes on the dinner menu. Also - if you want iced tea here it only comes in bottles and is over $5. That's crazy. Prices are high, but the food is delicious. Will be back."

  • "And he would have made a terrible mistake! He ended up GUSHING to our waiter about how awesome the special walleye pike in a white wine sauce was, my spinach crepe was nearly as divine, and they even accommodated the extremely fussy eater who accompanied us. The wine was perfect, our waiter very attentive. Try this place, you'll be impressed."

  • "We knew we would be five minutes late for our reservation, so we called. We had to wait for a table for over 20 min. with no direction to go to the bar, which would have been preferable to standing in the doorway. It seemed the hostess was a bit frantic. After we were seated, everything was great, including excellent food and table service."

  • "We found this restaurant to be surprisingly pleasant in all respects. Food,Service and ambience. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis."

  • "This is very enjoyable venue for lunch and after work drinks. The food is quite good and the service is most attentive. In the summer time one is allowd to bring one's dog to the outdoor dining area! Very nice gesture."

  • "Tried this for the first time for brunch. Pace was leisurely' service a tad slow but we weren't pushed to leave."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "had been there a couple of times before but not in a few years. Still the same (in a good way). Service was very good as was the food. Just keep in mind it's French so the selections may feel a little limited (alot of Steak and frites choices). My daughter had the Steak Peppercorn and my wife and I had a fish special - all plates were cleaned!. We ordered spinach as a side dish - very good! We had the profalites (sp?) creme puffs with ice cream and chocolate sauce instead of creme - you get three - we each had one. All in all a very nice dining experience. But not cheap - with a moderately priced bottle of wine and one cocktail it was $200. with tip. BTW, Luis was our waiter - he did a very nice job."

  • "L'Eiffel was a nice surprise in the Chicago suburbs. Excellent and interesting options and larger portions than you would expect from a French restaurant. Live music and an inviting, un-intimidating atmosphere. Good for couples or groups."
