This is probably the best restaurant in Pittsburgh with a menu that changes daily and is challenging and unique in all the good ways. Our group is really tough group to impress. We were seriously impressed. A lot place talk-the-talk of buy local, etc. Legume is the real deal. If you are serious about food, this is THE place. Period. If Legume was in NY or LA, there would be month wait for a Friday or Saturday reservation and the prices would be double. Gotta love Pittsburgh.

I was very excited to check out Legume after they moved from Regent Square--which by the way I loved. But that quickly changed after I walked through the doors to their new home, where the classic A Mores use to reside. I was so amazed at the look behind the NEW place. Such an amazing transformation, yet reverent to the previous establishment, retaining the tables, chairs and original flooring. The food was out of the world. I live in San Francisco, and don't consider myself pretentious, but I still have yet to find something equivalent to fresh and delicous when I come back home to Pittsburgh. This is by far a world class gem, fortunately found in Pittsburgh, and not expensive either. Bellisimo!

The space is just great. The rooms are broken up in such a nice way to create private, and quiet spaces. The color scheme works well with the space. The original floor is lovely and fitting. The food was better than ever. We started with the pate and the raclette, plates that we've enjoyed many times before. For entrees, we selected the risotto and flat iron (superb), the pork shoulder (melt-in-your-mouth delicious), and the grouper, which was sublime. A terrific meal and enjoyable experience. The new Legume has a great buzz, but we could have a conversation without the background noise. The bar is terrific and so nice to enjoy select so nice to enjoy selections from the wine list. They complemented the meals. The service was professional.

This was my second visit--excellent and as good as the first visit. I had stinging nettle soup (!) which was light and perfect for spring, along with lamb three ways, all very good, with barley. My friend was equally pleased with her meal. We went quite early for the only available reservation--by the time we'd been there for 45 minutes, it was packed. Reservations essential. Legume has landed on my local favorites list for sure.

As a vegetarian I was pleased to see more options on this menu compared to the Regent Square location -- and --sensitivity to accommodating special needs. Thank You!! I will recommend the new venue to Pgh foodies. What brought us in, was the outstanding quartet Besame -- and they exceeded our high expectations -- I'd like to see them booked on a Friday eve -- you'll have customers flowing over into the street!
