Diner Reviews
  • "John A., the Manager, was particularly gracious as he personally greeted the guests to check on their experience. Legal Seafood at the Prudential is well-run, efficient, friendly and, as usual, has excellent food. I highly recommend this location."

  • "I had a 11 person table for a confernce lunch. We had a few extra join, which would usually be a deal breaker. The staff was unflappable. They extended our table without complaint. All of our separate checks were correct and quick. Great experience!"

  • "I've been coming to this LSF location for 15 years, and I've always experienced great service and excellent food. Tonight it was a little off, possibly because it was a Sunday eve. I will continue to come back!!"

  • "Although Legal Seafoods is a chain, it is still worth going. The service (Joe was our server) was great, and the kids ate well (Mac and Cheese). Boston clam chowder hit the spot, and the fried clams were quite tasty and to be commended. Lobster was good. I heard that the Copley Square and Legal Harbourside locations have more ambience, but the location was good given where we were staying."

  • "Convenient setting for travelers. Was here for the SkyWalk tour. Yummy meal with the family. Somewhat disappointed in the legendary crab cakes, but the grilled shrimp were spectacular, as were the Asian shrimp dumplings. Perhaps a bit pricey to go with the Legal name. Overall quite satisfactory."

  • "I've been here a few times and it's always great. Today was just beyond. We had a note on our reservation I didn't honestly expect them to do anything about but the manager Brandon called me the day of to ask about it and introduced himself when we arrived and sent us out an appetizer. My dining partner said it was like we were celebrities. The food was good. Came out not exactly how I liked it and I wasn't going to say anything but the server could tell I wasn't happy without me saying it and the manager was so nice about replacing it. Best chowder ever."

  • "Upon arriving at the restaurant, my wife went in to use the facilities while we waited on our other guests. As she walked past the general manager she made a passing comment about loving steamers. As soon as we got to the table, a bucket of steamers arrived at the table. She was so surprised, and ate every one! The wood grilled trio is excellent, as you get to try 3 types of fish - chef's choice - and I have never had such moist, tender swordfish in my life. The specialty whiskey chased it down nicely, as well."

  • "I ordered the clam chowder and the jasmin special. Both were incredible. Someone at my table ordered the lobster roll and I was amazed by the size. The value is great"

  • "Food was just ok, I had cod and chips and we also had a shrimp bake which both arrived too hot and gave the feeling they had been sitting under the hot lamp too long. Kid menu is good, lots of choice. Service was good. Full of tourists."

  • "I have invited some foreign friends to have dinner, I told them that Legal seafood is one of the best restaurants in Boston. Although the service was great, but I was disappointed and didn't expect the quality of the food to be changed compared with what I used to have before. I ordered a Grilled shrimp, it wasn't fresh as what I used to have at Legal seafood. I noticed over the past two years legal has changed, it's never the same quality like before. So disappointed!"

  • "Reservation was made with a note asking to be put in the front of the restaurant. When we were arrived we were told that they couldn't accommodate us and stuck us in an awkward table with the guest next to us bumping into one of our chairs. Waitress was not knowledgeable on wine or even what was on our plate. Asked what type of seaweed was being used for the Seaweed salad, she said she didn't know and never offered to find out. Never returned to find out how our meals were or to see if we needed anything else. This causing drinks to be empty, water glasses not filled, etc. For the amount of money, I would suggest skipping the Chain and heading to somewhere else."

  • "This was our first trip to a Legal Sea Foods and we went on a recommendation from a friend. We were seated right away and our service was excellent. It was a bit warm in the restaurant and it was very loud, but still enjoyable. Overall the food was good, but I was VERY surprised not to see steamed shrimp on the menu. Also, my caesar salad had LOTS of bad pieces of romaine lettuce. I didn't eat it and did return it. The server was very nice about it and they did take it off the bill, but by then I was a bit disappointed. Again, overall a descent meal - for the others in my part, but just expected more, especially for the money."

  • "we were a little disappointed in the quality of our food. 2 of us ordered the out of shell lobsters and found them very dry. another one had some sort of shrimp casserole thing which she said was also very dry. our waitress was excellent and we enjoyed her very much."

  • "In town for vacation and my daughters birthday. It took 15 minutes before a waitress came after we were seated. Clam chowder was good, everything else was not. My daughter's lobster was rubber and a huge disappointment. Her dish had a huge hair in it as well. You will be better off going to a Red Lobster. Service didn't care and dispute knowing it was my daughters birthday did nothing to make it special. There are a thousand other restaurants in Boston that will be better. Despite their reputation, the restaurant was below average in so many ways."

  • "Legal is looted in Prudential Center and a great place for lunch if you're shopping or if you work in the area. Service is always quick and the staff are all friendly. Food is consistently good - the clam chowder is terrific. The warm rolls with butter are incredible."

  • "We went with friends from out of town who insisted on going there. Boring. I have lived in Boston since Legal started, when they were the "only game in town" for a good fish dinner. Now there are many other local restaurants that serve excellent fish in much more interesting preparations. I would choose one of them first."

  • "I brought members of a nonprofit board to the Prudential center Legal's for a business lunch knowing that it would be really good food that we could enjoy without breaking the budget, and it was an absolutely great choice. The food was excellent, service was enough but not too much, while there was energy in the room we had no trouble holding a business conversation. Highly recommended."

  • "We were a party of 8 with a reservation. Service was dreadful. Waiter arrived and seated us & took drink orders. 35 minutes later we still had NO service and I had to seek out service. The rest of the evening continued the same- 2.5 hours for dinner & no appreciation for service quality. Table of 7 next to us arrived 30 minutes after us and was promptly served. We have had lunch there many times and never had an issue like this."

  • "LONG wait for drink order, then when one in party ordered a glass of wine (a rose listed on the menu), server brought a glass of red (cabernet). Informed server of this to which she responded, that is what you ordered. NO, rose was what was ordered. Similar name of winery, but when pointed out on the menu, server said," well we don't carry that- I don't even know why that is on the menu." What? Then WHY is it on the menu? She then said they only had the house rose, which was ordered. No apology, no, I'm sorry it was my mistake- blame it on the customer? Not the way to start our meal. Long wait for the food after this, again, no apology for having to wait, no offer to refill ANYONES drink. Service was not what we expected for a $200.+ meal."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a nice seafood place. Several years ago I had been to a Legal Seafood and it was a good experience. Now that I've been around a little longer and traveled more I find going to Legal Seafood for seafood is like going to the Olive Garden for Italian, blah. Nothing special and most definitely not worth the price. Reminds me of a Red Lobster these days too. No atmosphere, just getting people through. Probably will never return to the chain unless someone in my group is really wanting to go."

  • "Lobster bisque is delicious! Service was great. Not much ambiance, probably due to the mall location."

  • "Legal is considered 'touristy' but it is a very good and reliable seafood restaurant and I think they'd done a great job at keeping it fresh (no joke intended) and avoiding becoming a 'tired' ol tourist restaurant. Easy spot to go to and get in/out before a Red Sox game if you're looking for someting a bit nicer/healthier. Definitely a standard, 'go to' restaurant when you're trying to please many people."

  • "Had a reservation for 8 people on our first night on town. Flight delayed and we arrived 45 minutes late. The staff was accommodating and set us up right away. Lobster bisque was great, crab cakes delicious , garlic shrimp pasta and rainbow trout also very good. Boston Cream pie and salted Caramel pie made a perfect ending. Couldn't of had a better first dinner in Boston. Location was perfect as we were staying at the Sheraton. Would definitely recommend ."

  • "We've lived in Boston for over 30 years now and knew Legal's well before its expansion. Because there are so many great seafood places in the area, we hadn't returned to Legal's in awhile. We're unlikely to return. Service was reasonably helpful, food was terrible. Oversalted rice pilaf; browned lettuce leaves in the house salad; and--worst of all--overcooked fish! (This wasn't just slightly overcooked --- the grilled tuna was chewy, dense, and nearly inedible. I was surprised that the server didn't ask how I wanted to tuna prepared as well. Perhaps they steaks were already cooked? I've always thought of Legals as a place where one rely on getting excellent seafood, expertly prepared. Apparently, this is no longer the case."

  • "The restaurant was very accommodating as they let me move the reservation for 30mins later (we were a party of 8). We invited some out-of-town friends and they loved everything (including the classic clam "chowdah"). Our waitress was very nice but she was busy with other tables too.."
