Diner Reviews
  • "We went there purely for a seafood dinner and we were pleased with the meal."

  • "Only non-seafood entree was chicken, picky eaters beware! Delicious rolls. Upscale atmosphere but relaxed about attire. Very small entryway - don't come early unless you want to wait in the mall."

  • "The five of us went to celebrate my wife's birthday, and Legal made it a real celebration. We enjoyed a PrimaTerra pinot grigio, with an assortment of fresh oysters to start. Main courses were a crab cake, fried clams, wood-grilled trout, salmon and vegetarian box. Delightful multi-layer chocolate cake as a surprise for my wife. Excellent service by Valeria, with friendly visits from the manager. We don't normally think about seating, but it was spacious and enjoyable, with a comfortable cushion bench for two of us and chairs for other three,"

  • "Legals is a reliable family-owned business that has become an institution. It delivers tasty food using fresh ingredients with efficiency. They tend to feature a lot of fried food, but the heart of their business is hiding in a corner of the menu. Just pick your fish, how you want it cooked, and two sides. Best of all, Legal's doesn't stint on the service. Their waiters are fast and attentive, even on a very busy Friday night right after a Red Sox home opener."

  • "Food and service were average. I took people from the midwest here, and the sea food is good. I would recommend this restaurant as an option for decent sea food."

  • "This was my 1st time to this location, which I chose out of convenience. The setting was nicer than I expected. The menu was the usual Legal Sea Foods, which is good. Unfortunately, our waiter's service was less than expected. First of all, he ordered the wrong entree for me. So while my family ate theirs, I had to wait. By the time mine arrived, I was no longer very hungry. I took most of it home - but leftover fresh fish is no longer fresh. Moreover, he didn't check on us very much. We frequently had to waive him down for water refills. I would return - but I would make sure we got a different waiter - one who is more attentive."

  • "I wasn't to happy with the amount of food given. I ordered a fish and chip and I had 3 small pieces. My mom ordered Anna's scrod and her fish was very small. For the amount of money we paid we only had a small amount of food it definitely wasn't worth what we paid, we were disappointed with that. We have never experienced this before."

  • "The server brought out the wrong dish twice. The temperature of the restaurant was very uncomfortable. The food was only mediocre."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "The fish is always good, however for the sides they have a limited number of vegetables excluding potato and onion options. I would like a better assortment---string beans, spinach, carrots etc. Fish is healthy and I prefer to have healthy sides. Arctic Char was excellent as was the clam chowder.... We passed on dessert."

  • "I have eaten at Legal Sea Food on several occaions. Our latest visit was our best -- both our meals were well prepared and excellent. We have had acceptable meals in the past, but our latest experience seemed much better. We will definitely come back again in the future."

  • "I came here with two colleagues from out-of-town, and Legals did not disappoint. While I find it's hard to get excited about LSF now that it is a chain, it's still the best place for seafood and a "taste of Boston.". The service was excellent - very attentive to my gluten-free needs. I will continue to return to Legals, especially for entertaining visitors and for special occasions."

  • "My wife had sole and I had Tuna. Both meals were too large for our senior appetites. My wife would have preferred the sole to be a little more pan seared and perhaps served with a hollandaise sauce. The tuna was bland and needed something to spice it up."

  • "I have been every year, for many years to Legal. But lately both quality and service has considerably decrease. It's still a classic and probably I will go back but for nostalgic reasons, place, food and service is much better at Atlantic fish Co."

  • "Legal Sea Foods consistently delivers a wide variety fantastic seafood appetizers and main courses, beautifully presented. The service is also always top notch."

  • "Windows open up to the mall, no scenery unless one enjoys "people watching"; this location is not ideal and smells "fishy"; however the food was absolutely wonderful and cooked perfectly!"

  • "This is my regular dinner spot with a close friend. We always know that we can count on delicious, healthy seafood with pleasant service and a lively but not overwhelming atmosphere. The bar is also fun for lunch on the weekends!"

  • "Always enjoy LS, good chowder, the sea bass and cheese grits were tasty. Server did great job rec wine w/ dinner."

  • "The restaurant segregates their guests based on kids, family, age, etc. The "kids room" was so hot we could hardly stand to stay. They did adjust the HVAC and it slowly cooled off. Food was good, location was not what we were expecting. It is in a mall on the second floor with no ambiance whatsoever. Our waiter was very pleasant and did his job well. Really felt like they were just trying to crank tables through the night."

  • "Ordered the Wood Grilled Assortment and would not recommended. It was just a range of over-cooked seafood put together on a watery plate. The server did not even advise us the what the 'Chef's selection of 3 fish' was. Only ate less than 1/4 of the dish. Overall, Legal's too expensive for the quality you get."

  • "I used to work at Legals for a good 3 years so I am used to the whole vibe and honestly expected more...service was extremely slow, waitress didn't really offer any opinions or ask us if we wanted more drinks, appetizers, or much of anything...took a very long time to get drinks and soup....food was great but the service was mediocre at best..."

  • "We picked Legal Seafood Pru for dinner on a blustery Feb Fri nite. We traveled into town from South Shore and needed someplace decent close to the Green line so we could take the T to Symphony. Having eaten several times at LS at Aquarium and South waterfront, you can imagine out dismay that the Pru location was so dismal - brown grunge carpets, strange illuminated white and blue boxes randomly placed, nondescript tables and chairs. Dark and romantic is one thing, but dim and dingy is depressing. Not what we were used to at a Legal Seafoods. However, our meals were good and the wine selection as well."

  • "Just a great dining experience for Valentine's Day. We have been here many times and have always left super satisfied!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The food was "good" - not as great as Legal's reputation. Also it was not a good value for what they charge for lunch and the lunch menu was not of a wide variety. I would only go again if it was the closest choice which it was this time."

  • "After a dat at the Museum of Fine Arts, my wife and I took a snowy 1 mile walk to the Prudential Center for dinner. We requested a gluten free menu, and began the meal with brown rice flour rolls, which were excellent. We both ordered the Wood Grilled sampler, which came with 3 fish of the chef's choice (that day was Arctic Char, Tuna, and Swordfish), plus scallops, shrimp, and two sides. Everything was juicy and flavorful. I chose a flight of three 2 oz. glasses of red wine, my wife had the gluten free Angry Orchard. The wait staff was very attentive. We were treated to a free dessert, but by then we were stuffed, so we settled for chocolate covered bonbons. It was just enough of a delicious small bite to complete the meal."

  • "I recently dined at legal seafood for a family members birthday. Three of our orders had to be sent back because they were either incomplete or had things specifically not requested. On top of that my note to have a slice of cake with a candle on it for the family member with the birthday was overlooked. Some how they managed to read everything else in the notes section except the most important thing. Not going back any time soon if ever. Will NOT recommend!"

  • "Our dinner was very good. As many people already mentioned, the food is a little bit overpriced, but the restaurant is conveniently located and so you pay for the privilege of eating downtown. My only issue was the red wine sangria. Once in the past in your Burlington location, I ordered a white wine sangria that tasted like a grape fruit juice. This time, several years later, I ordered the red one and it tasted like a sweet mixed berry fruit drink. Very disappointing. We also ordered a pear cosmopolitan that was OK."

  • "For valentines day my boyfriend and I went to legal, it was very busy over an hour long wait. We didn't have to wait because of reservations. Our server was okay, not very friendly just kinda went like a robot. But the food was very good. I go here a lot and will be returning."

  • "I booked here for valentines night hoping to get a decent meal without being fancy. The service was decent considering the crowd. Seafood over cooked. Atmosphere in the dining room is nothing special. Bar area a bit Bette"

  • "A group of seven camped out at Legal's for about two hours to visit for a late lunch. The server was very pleasant and we were not rushed. Our table was behind a small wall so it was semi-private."

  • "My wife and I went to this restaurant before a play, mainly because there are very few nice restaurants near the BU Theatre. As with any Legal Sea Foods, the food is quite good. The service was good as well and the parking cost was reasonable with validation. My wife didn't like the hustle and bustle of the mall; it is not a good fit with a nice restaurant."

  • "The best way to describe our dining experience: Legal doing their thing, and - as usual - doing it well. The food was great, and service friendly and professional at the same time. A nice detail: I had cioppino, and one of the clams took its revenge by dumping a lot of sand in the pan. That prompted one of the higher-ups in the restaurant to come and explain that there would be a little delay. Which turned out to be little indeed."
