A word from Legal Sea Foods - Peabody
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.

Seafood Nation loves our outpost in Peabody, at the junction of Routes 128 and 114. Those traveling to and from the beaches in Cape Ann are known to jump ship for some fresh catch. And those considering a fishing trip, visit us instead.

Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.

We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

  • "My friend and I had dinner here together because she's knows how much I love seafood. We had a great experience. The warm rolls were a great start. I had the stuffed lobster which was cooked perfectly. The stuffing was great and I've suggested it to others. The server was attentive but not too overbearing. He took too a little too long to give us our check. But he was very helpful with suggestions. Overall it was a nice experience."

  • "We have eaten at Legal in Peabody regularly over the past decade. Seems to have lost its edge. Food not as hot or flavorful. May just have been the past couple of visits."

  • "Legal Seafood is always a good choice when looking for a good dinner. This restaurant is located at the mall so the noise level is a bit higher than what I usually prefer during dinner, but overall it's a good place for dinner."

  • "Always a pleasure to dine at Legal; it's a little out of our way and we often arrive early for our res., but there's never a problem. They always have a comfy booth for us. My husband loves the oysters and the seafood entrees are the best. This time we noticed the wine list- a huge selection of interesting wines, important to us, not being cocktail enthusiasts. We shall be back!"

  • "Our waiter was super friendly without being over the top. He fully explained how to use our gift cards to maximize the benefit as well. We showed up an hour before closing but you''d never know it - very busy night. All the servers were helping each other out which was nice to see. The only blip in the night was that rolls were offered and then never brought over - not a big deal as I could barely finish. My seabass was a little dry - but maybe that's how seabass tastes? I don't get it often. Wonderful Friday night in the Lent season."

  • "The food is very consistent at Legal, which is very hard to find in a lot of restaurant's today."

  • "We had a family dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food and service were outstanding, and our waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful in bringing out a birthday cake and ice cream for everyone. We had a lovely dinner and were not rushed at all. The prices were shocking, however. Most entrees were in the $28-40 range, with certain sides costing another $1.50 each. A glass of sangria was $11. A crab cake appetizer was $14. A meal for 5, two of whom ordered only an appetizer, cost $150. This is a place to have a special dinner, not for more frequent dining."

  • "We've gone to this Legal Seafood location since it first opened, and it has been consistent for all of those visits. Good seafood, good preparations, comfortable and attractive. This time, our experience was better still, because our server was one of the best wait staff we've ever had anywhere. She was a consummate professional. (That she was a standout at a restaurant with uniformly good service speaks volumes.)"

  • "As I told my dining companion, I never tire of Legal Sea Foods. We had the striped bass special with brussels sprouts, and it was absolutely delicious, as was the really well-made Caesar salad. My friend had shopping to do at the mall afterwards, so it's also in an exceptionally convenient location. Some members of my family have celiac disease, so I am slso grateful for their gluten-free menu options. The service there is also just terrific."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Legal, enjoying steamed shrimp wontons, the lemon-caper grey sole--one of our standby meals, always outstanding--and the special of Striped Bass, which came with roasted potatoes. Did an add-on of the new premium side of Kale but without the peanuts. Also ordered one of our favorite Chardonnays: Patz and Hall. Michael, our server, was terrific as usual, attentive and informative."

  • "I love Legal and have been to many locations in the greater Boston area. I feel like it has gotten a bit more expensive than in the past. $66 + tip for an app of siracha shrimp and 2 dinners of fish and chips with soft drinks just seems way to expensive...."

  • "We have returned dining at the Peabody Legal Seafood after a 4 to 5 year absence. We had an unpleasant food experience which was not handled correctly and we were regular, good tipping, easy customers at that time. We reluctantly returned to the restaurant in the last 6 months after someone gave us a gift card. Although a little pricey as in the past, we've found the staff to be very attentive, food good and an overall pleasant experience. We are also finding Open Table to be a relatively successful way to make a reservations especially on a Saturday evening. We've found within 15 minutes of the reservations we are seated."

  • "Outstanding food and service. Make reservations or a long wait"

  • "My daughter and I recently had a most enjoyable dinner out at Legal Sea Foods in Peabody ... No special occasion, just a fun mother-daughter night out. Legal Sea Foods was her first (and only) choice, which was fine by me! This was a completely stress-free and enjoyable dinner, starting off with a great waiter (Tom M). He could not have been more attentive and friendly. Our dinners were cooked to perfection, and we walked out of there agreeing that we will be back "soon"! It isn't every restaurant that we agree on, but when it comes to Legal Sea Foods ... Bingo! We like to think of it as a "guaranteed" enjoyable experience, which it most certainly was! :D"

  • "Although a little bit of a chain feel to it lately, Legal doesn't disappoint if you want good fish, good service and a nice atmosphere. I would like to see them upscale their menu a bit, maybe some roasted asparagus and a few more light and healthy options."

  • "We dine at this location several times a year. This time around, the service was excellent. We've always been given very good service at Legals so no complaints there. Our hostess brought us to a booth located right next to the kitchen door. When we requested a booth in a different location, she happily accommodated us. Food was delivered in a timely manner and prepared well. Quality was excellent, as always. Our server was friendly and knowledgable and eager to please us. We left very satisfied and happy."

  • "We dined at Legal Sea Foods in Peabody recently (to celebrate Valentine's Day). Everything about our dining experience was perfect ... from the service to the food to the wine/sangria. Legal Sea Foods has long been our favorite "go-to" restaurant, whether we are celebrating a special event or if we just want a really nice, quiet dining experience. Keep up the good work ... please! :D"

  • "Had a 6pm reservation and did not get seated until 6:30. Some dishes were excellent while others were questionable. Saw numerous patrons arguing with staff and manager about bad service. Overall not a great experience, especially given the price."

  • "We have been to Legal Seafoods, Peabody both for lunch and dinner. The food is always delicious and the fish fresh. Our server was Michael F. and he was great! I would highly recommend any Legal Seafoods for both a delicious meal and superb service!"

  • "enjoyed our Valentines meal with my husband, we finally were able to talk, without being rushed. Food was very good. service was supreme. Would definally go again,"

  • "This is our "Go-to" restaurant for special occasions. The fish is always fresh and the service excellent. I have food allergies and they are extremely accommodating. Lunch prices are a better deal. I had the wood-grilled scallops, which were cooked to perfection. Broccoli was hot and tender, but not mushy. Brown rice was tender with some bite to it. The generous salad was fresh and crisp. My husband's crab cakes had large chunks of crab, unlike any I've seen before. They are a dish he tries whenever available and this one (lunch portion?) was a home run."

  • "Their dishes were excellent and enjoyed by everyone in our party. A good way to end a cold winter's Valentine's Day."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We had Valentines night dinner here, and they found us a nice window-side table to celebrate. The service was phenomenal, as were our dinners. The Salads are fresh, the stuffed shrimp flavorful, and the maple bread pudding/key lime pie were the perfect amount of sweet. We also tried one of their liquor flights, which did not disappoint. Highly recommend!"

  • "Returned the enemic caesar salad. Mussels were very very small. Seafood's your specialty???"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Food was excellent. A bit pricey for our budget, so we would only go Legal Seafood for a special occasion. It was for Valentine's Day."

  • "Great place to meet a friend for lunch, to sit, eat & chat. Server was very sweet and efficient."
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "Wedge salad was dripping in very sharp tasting dressing that overpowered the other salad ingredients. Fish and Chips were disappointing as fish was overcooked. We sat with friends for a while after dinner; waiter did not return to service our table with drinks."

  • "Had a wonderful experience at Legal seafood in Peabody, MA. Pricey but worth it!"

  • "I have been eating at Legal Seafoods for 39 years, starting with the old Inman Square location. I return for the food and the service. For several months the North Shore Mall locations has been playing very disturbing and jarring overhead background music. It sounds like Techno and is very jarring. I have pointed this out several times."

  • "This is only my 2nd time here...and my last. Two of us for lunch, one had grilled Haddon the other three baked trio. The Hardwick was good but small the seafood trio disappointing. Two small shrimp, a couple of bay scallops really bay scallops? And a piece of fish rather a fork full. So many better fish restaurants on the North Shore you can keep your chain restaurants."
