A word from Legal Sea Foods - Park Square
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.

Legal Sea Foods’ flagship location in Boston’s Theater District is surrounded by hotels and nearby Newbury Street, Copley Square and Boston Common. Just inside you’ll see a two-story cascading fountain, the center-piece of the restaurant.

With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.

We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Diner Reviews
  • "Coincidentally, it was Restaurant Week and the selections and pricing made for a perfect business meeting lunch."

  • "I heard about Legal Sea Food and perhaps I was expecting for a better food experience. Above all, food was good but not extraordinary. The service was attentive and lovely."
    Dined on 8/19/2014
  • "The food was mediocre, at best, for some items. My fish was overcooked, the side of kale was flavorless and the pieces were too long, my husband's dish lacked flavor also. Our server was very attentive and accommodating."

  • "We frequent several different Legal Seafoods. This one is above average in both food and service. Their wine list is better than most as well. I find it is a little louder than some as dinner hour picks up and it seems to get busy earlier (probably because people go there prior to going to many of the nearby theaters). We were very happy. Will definitely go again."

  • "i sent my dinner back 3 times and it was still awful. Not close to their usual high standards. After over 100 dinners at many different Legal's throughout the country since 1980."

  • "Food was good but expensive. Forget having a nice quiet dinner. Atmosphere is noisy and busy. Service was good."

  • "Myself and my family made an open table reservation at 8:00, when we arrived we were seated immediately. The server Amelia was friendly and knowledgeable, we ordered drinks and appetizers(both which Amelia made great recommendations for). The appetizers came out quickly, and our dinner were terrific. I had steak and lobster and my son had cioppino, they were both wonderful. We are looking forward to going back very soon."

  • "They accommodated our group of seven and the food was delicious. The service was timely and efficient and seemed eager to please. Our server provided me great recommendations when asked and everything tasted delicious. The entire group wanted to go back for another meal. I would recommend this spot to anyone who asked."

  • "Great standby seafood restaurant. I have been to this location once before. Both times, The music was turned down as soon as I made the request."

  • "Food was great, service was good but there was a couple of loud groups near by that caused us to have to talk loudly to hear each other."

  • "Two couples enjoyed our meal. Outstanding wine list. Very good prices. Fish dishes and crab cakes were enjoyed. The lobster was not up to expectation. Clams and tuna appetizers were excellent."

  • "It is an amazing restaurant for late nights, special occasions or just to get some drinks in the bar which is stunning. The tables are comfortable and the music goes with the place, very quiet and smooth. The food is good and they have enough choices. My experience was overall good but my serve was not what I expected."

  • "I usually take visitors from out of town to the Harbor Legal Seafood but could not get a table. Whilst not as wow a location it is really central and more than made up for it in indoor decor: we ate our meal downstairs, sat in a really fun setting, with a cool vibe surrounded by the wine cellar. Kudos to the interior designer - a really good touch. Food was classic Boston: New England seafood, you can't go wrong a variety of options from an extensive food and drinks menu. The oysters were fresh and delicious and waiter shared lots of info about them. I would go again and definitely take guests from out of town to show case a local Boston tradition with a modern twist."

  • "I asked two colleagues to join me at Legal Sea foods at Park Square for a working lunch. The seating was excellent, the service was attentive and unobtrusive, and the room half-full but quiet. We got a lot done, greeted other business friends at a nearby table, and enjoyed the lunch. It was a very successful meeting."

  • "Enjoyed our dinner once seated in an area that we could actually hear one another, thank you Jeff for making that happen without us having to ask! Artic char & swordfish were delicious, sides on daily special were more interesting & chef substituted for menu sides which was much appreciated! Boston creme pie was the best, don't miss that."

  • "There are not many restaurants in Boston that can fit such a large group without setting up a private room, Legal Seafood in Park Square fit us all comfortably. Food was good. Drinks were good. Everyone had fun! Thanks for a great night, Legals!"

  • "Meeting an old friend I haven't seen in years, Legals at Park Square was the perfect spot! The food was exceptional as usual, good size portions and just dimply delicious. Our server Charina was magnificent. Smiling, friendly and gave us great suggestions. She even made sure to handle a food allergy at the table, and had the manager stop by to check on us. The BEST thing about Charina's service was that she knew exactly when to leave us alone (we had a lot of catching up to do) and when to be there to meet our needs. Charina you are truly professional. Thanks to the entire staff from host, service and management, for making our experience fantastic!"

  • "First visit. Exceptional service. Amazing food. My wife and I split Anne's baked fish and a banana carmel dessert and were commended by the server on our choices and supported on the decision to split the entree(not our experience in some other restaurants). Both of us left very full and extremely satisfied."

  • "Great Service, Great location and Great food! Lobster was excellent and so was the beer selection. The seaweed salad was excellent and so was the spicy calamari."

  • "Best crab cakes ever. Clam chowder lives up to the MA/Cape Cod reputation. You can choose complex flavors in some dishes or very clean dishes like the wood fired assortment with 5 types of seafood....all done to perfection. Great service, nice atmosphere."

  • "Dinner was delicious. The Park Square location gets sort of overlooked in the sea (no pun intended) of Legal's across the city. But I find the food here consistently very good, it is big enough that you're not on top of your neighbors and can have a private conversation, and service is friendly. I have also found the food and service to be much better than my last two visits to Legal at the Prudential Center. I had raw oysters to start and thought the offer to mix an assortment for me was a nice surprise. The crab cakes were good size and loaded with crab, not filler. As a long time Boston resident, Legal continues to be a favorite."

  • "Service was excellent. Manager came over and spent quite a bit of time with us, truly wanting our opinions on food and service. After dinner dessert and coffee was comped....a pleasant surprise. This was our best visit to this location."

  • "Nicole Iodice was my server when I went in for dinner with my sister before a theatre show. She was very friendly, very knowledgeable. The other staff was helpful with removing old plates like Arnolina had done. I was approached by a lot of the staff just to say hi and how everything was and Orlando, Paul, Imran, Michelle, Bryn, Mandy and even the food runners. The Host stand was also very friendly as well, Wendy, Terrell and Aaliyah were all very welcoming and had smiles on their face. I would recommend this restaurant on a night out before a show!"

  • "First visit to this legal seafood location and we brought some mid-westerners to enjoy some good seafood and conversation. Our party of 6 was seated in the back of the restaurant next to some other large tables. Once the tables were occupied, the noise level was truly unacceptable. Although we were seated at a small round table, honestly none of us could hear any of the conversation amongst our party throughout the entire evening! The food was ok but unfortunately the unbearable noise ruined the evening for all of us and we left with a massive headache. They would be wise to invest in some sound proofing material. As we exited the front of the restaurant, where the parties of 2 and 4 were seated, it was more quiet than the rear."

  • "My in-laws and my family went out for dinner. My father in law ordered atlantic char, but he was given the wrong meal. He immediately informed the server who said to start eating the meal and the kitchen would make his char. The char did not arrive until everyone, including small children, were finished. The char, which he really wanted, was small, overcooked, and dry."

  • "Over experience was ok. service was marked by waitress who was short in responding to our questions and not very friendly and not very knowledgeable of menu items , food was good, other staff members seemed to be friendly. Would recommend"

  • "A must do on pleasure trips to Boston. Excellent seafood and service, a local staple to be tasted and enjoyed."

  • "I got the spicey fish and chips and it was luke warm when it arrived to the table. Our server was young and didn't ask if everything was good until we were half way done with our meal. I would of told her then but I was almost done. However we were greeted and treated great by the hostess. He brought us a brushetta sample from the kitchen. I feel that the server let the food stay under the warmer too long and that is why it wasnt hot. I was surprised that they don't have runners if the wait staff gets busy. Overall for this visit I can only rate it 3 starts."

  • "Out of all the Legals, this is the only place I've had a bad experience in where I came in without a reservation and waited nearly 2 hours before I finally left. However, my most recent visit made up for what happened in the past. Made reservations (as I always do now whenever dining at a Legals). The Maitre'D came by and gave us complimentary bruschetta and thanked us for making reservations through Open Table (didn't realize there were perks like this). We didn't order much as we just had cravings for clams and chowder; however, the server never rushed us and gave us great attention. I did tip her extra given we came during dinner and took up one of her tables. Overall, I'm very satisfied and forgive for the past transgression."

  • "This is one of my all time favorites for seafood in the city! They give OpenTable clients suberb service, as they came over with an appetizer for using this service! We enjoy the service, and enjoy the city views so we can people watch while we eat. it's a bit pricey, but the food is worth it. I couldnt say the same about the Legal Seafood in Framingham, but this location is awesome! Our table was a bit wobbly, but I am sure if we asked, we could have been moved."

  • "I eat here all the time. The food is always very good and consistent. On this occasion though its like the whole operation fell apart. Our waiter was new, there 3 weeks, so that may explain the breakdown. Wrong food, no water, no attention to the table, and he complained the whole time how busy it was for him. He never apologized for his poor service and the management never came to check things out. When you bring out the wrong food, usually this warrants a visit to the table by the manager. I will go back though, because I love Legal Seafood food."

  • "Used to love Legal at Park Plaza at former location. This place felt like a hotel lobby restaurant. Boring. Food was just okay. I ordered surf and turf and steak was not tender. I sent it back. Just not the way it used to be, so likely won't return."

  • "They reserved a table for 8 in a party room in the back....it was perfect! The manager stopped by twice to check on us. We were very pleased with the level of service."

  • "This was my first time at this Legal Seafood location. My parent's were in from Chicago so we grabbed a late lunch before heading to Fenway. We were seated right away at a nice table with a window view. Our waitress was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and very efficient in her service. We were given a complimentary bruschetta appetizer for booking with Open Table. I always start with the New England clam chowder. It's always cream and delicious. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was a good size crab cake with minimal fillers. Delicious! The fish tacos came 3 to a plate and the fish can be grilled or fried. My dad had the jambalaya and my mom the mushroom ravioli. Everyone was satisfied with their meals."
