Diner Reviews
  • "It's a step up from typical mall-adjacent restaurants, but Legal Sea Foods is a bit overpriced, a bolt overcrowded and a bit noisy. Wait staff was friendly, by clearly overworked as there were considerable lapses between our arrival, ordering drinks, ordering meals and receiving meals."

  • "Walker was great and Chef Chris came out to see me at the bar. Food was awesome. Great experience as usual."

  • "Clam chowder was first, very good, thick and full of clams and potatoes. I had a wedge salad for dinner, not thrilled, it had a vinaigrette on it that did not go well with the blue cheese or bacon, a creamy blue dressing would have been better. My dad had swordfish with spinach and fries, very well enjoyed and cooked just right. The fried oysters were a good appetizer, you have to ask for tartar sauce if you want it here, even for the fried clams, which were also very good and cooked well. Big complain of the night, the crab cakes were TOO spicy, would have been great without the overpowering Old Bay seasoning. You are NOT told on the menu about the spices in the crab cake. ruined one person's meal completely (the birthday girl)"

  • "We have been here so many times and have never had a bad meal or experience. Food is always super fresh and the drinks are always amazing.. bartenders are friendly and always remember what we like. Can' t go wrong with anything on the menu."

  • "First time dining here for our wedding anniversary in years. I was very pleased with the service: warm greeting, immediately seated and the staff was accommodating. However, I was highly disappointed with the food. I came here because it was a special occasion for us and we wanted real, good quality seafood in a nice setting. I was surprised to find out that overly-priced farm-raised salmon is being served here. Also my side dishes of spinach and mashed potatoes were swimming in oil. Blech! The only good thing about this dining experience was the service. The food was gross, I won't be eating here anymore."

  • "My boyfriend and I go to Legal Seafood in Paramus often and we are never disappointed. The wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable of the wine list and the food offering. Their oysters are fresh and delicious and HUGE. We love the Boston Cod and also are big fans of the mussel appetizer. The food is fresh and the portions are very generous. Always a great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Its rare to find a place with such great food and service at a reasonable price. Thanks to our waitress, Caitlyn G, I enjoyed a delicious meal of miso cod and Riesling (both her suggestions). she was very sweet and great with my kids. My husband ( manager at a restaurant) appreciated the presence and attentiveness of the managers who came and asked how our everything has been. overall a very nice and relaxing experience."

  • "I've been to the Legal Sea Foods many times, and today they were way off their game. We ate at 5pm, yet they had already run out of multiple menu items. We ordered a 6 oz filet medium rare, but they were out and insisted that we upgrade to the 8 oz. When we did, they proceeded to bring meat that was very well done. They immediately apologized and brought him another one. The Miso Cod was also very dry and tasteless. When it was sent back, my colleague asked for an order of butternut squash instead, after the waiters recommendation. He then returned and told us that they were out of squash. Despite all of the problems with the kitchen, the manager was very nice and helpful. We were comped for the last two Boston Cream Pies.."

  • "One of the offshoots made famous for it's Presidential Clam Chowder. Food is consistently good, service also very good. Nice well managed property, a good place when you need a seafood fix while waiting for the traffic jam to clear on the GWB."

  • "Dinner for 2 with an appetizer, drink and tip is always a $100 night at Legal Seafoods but the seafood usually does not disappoint. We got there a little earlier than our reservation but they still hustled us in within a minute or two. Waitress seemed happy to see people as the spell of terrible weather obviously has affected business. Buffalo Shrimp appetizer had a nice zing to it. My companion ordered and enjoyed the Nutty Salmon (as she usually does). I went with the Miso Cod special and it was perfect for the fact I'm dieting...if I wasn't it would have been a little light as a main course. Service as usual was very good."

  • "My husband and I love going to this particular Legal--portions are always great, seadfood fresh, and most importanly, always treat us very well, especially our little man. We typically go for a special occasion, and we are never disappointed here. Oysters were super fresh (we had 2 dozen!); crabcakes phenominal; and as simple as it is, seaweed salad was excellent. My husband always gets lobster bisque, and they always put a lot of lobster meat in it--he loved it. If you want great, fresh food with a wonderful wait staff, this is the place to go!"

  • "My son and I were very disappointed in the miso Cod special and the 1 1/2 lb lobster. The Cod seemed to be pre-prepared and then warmed to serve. The lobster was overcooked, tough and stringy. We could not cut the lobster tail with a knife! The quality of both dishes reminded me of Red Lobster not Legal Seafoods. It also took us an hour to get our entrees. However, my wife ordered the grilled Tuna and she was quite pleased with her dish. The side dish of roasted mushrooms was quite good as well. Our server was professional and attentive at all times. The manager and server tried to correct the problem; however, the second attempt at both dishes were as bad as the first."

  • "We had a really nice time here the other night celebrating my aunt's 94th birthday. It was just 3 of us. The good was very good and the prices are high but it is mostly worth it. The desserts and entrees were fresh and flavorful. My only complaint was that they were a bit sparse on the amount of steamers we got with our order. It also would have been nice to have some sides included with my entree, the Crab Cake platter. Esp for the price. The wine and drinks were great too! Wish we had known beforehand about the free valet parking though!! Next time!"

  • "It is always wonderful to go to a restaurant with really good food that has a gluten free menu. And....drum roll please....warm gluten free, delicious rolls!! Lovely restaurant with nice waiters and several nice wines available in 1/2 bottles. A little pricey."

  • "Food was outstanding as expected . Would like to also point out so happy that the tomato balsamic vinagrette was added to menu again , I would always order it anyways and depending on the chef that night was either mediocre or great , but now that it's a staple on the menu again it's always delicious . I hope Legal seafood stays there for many years to come Our waitress was great. Considering it was Valentines Day the service , food , and wait time was excellent. It made our evening wonderful. Everyone in the restaurant from the hostess to manager were visible at all times and also were making sure all their guests were happy . Love love love."

  • "As far as chain restaurants, legal seafood is a great choice to go. Whenever I am visiting Boston, this is one of the places that I choose to go and when I found out that there is one in Paramas, I was so excited. It was very difficult to find a parking spot since this place is in a shopping mall, but the wait staff were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable and fun to eat there. Food quality wise, I think again, it is a chain restaurant; therefore, nothing special, but it's very casual and ok food!"

  • "Wow, wait staff was great, food was awesome. One comment, I got a feeling of being rushed just a bit. It was Valentine's Day, so they had a booked slate, but I still felt rushed."

  • "Figured that getting a table at the right time at the last minute for a date night with the wife would be easy at a place known for seafood, and expecting it to be expensive, and sure enough I was right. We got the time we wanted, food was pricey, but the quality was fine. You get a variety of seafood prepared in different ways, and the list of sides dishes is unique, more then just two different styles of rice, or potatoes in three different ways. Alcohol though is a bit pricey - beers weren't the usual which was nice but pricey, large wine list, and though not many served by the glass, you do get a 1/2 liter option, very few by the glass, skip the premium stuff as you are better waiting to buy a bottle for what they charge for the glass"

  • "Quite expensive for a normal evening out before or after a movie. Two of us had a single drink & one glass of wine, one caesar salad and two entrees and the bill including tax & tip was nearly $100"

  • "My wife and I made a reservation here after a long day of shopping. We were seated right away in a booth. Our server had great recommendations and was attentive. Very happy with the quality of food and the service."

  • "The host staff was pleasant, we arrived 20 minis ahead of rez time, and they told us they were running behind reservation times. We decided to have a drink at the not very busy bar and it took close to 5 minutes to get noticed--they seemed to be busy filling waitstaff orders but it was not an excuse in my view. We were seated about 15 minutes after our actual rez time. Server was pleasant and familiar with the menu, very accommodating when we asked to split some entrees. Chowder was great, entrees were just OK-- priced btwn $25 and $45. I had a filet and stuffed shrimp; shrimp came in casserole dish with bread crumbs and pieces of crab covering 3 shrimp. Shrimp were were warm not hot, and overcooked and tuff. Disappointing overall."

  • "For a holiday such as New Years Eve where the restaurant is extra busy they had exemplary service. The food came out relatively fast and yummy as always. My wife has allergies so you can always count on them to make yummy dishes to her liking."

  • "Complimentary valet parking on the Saturday before Christmas was a blessing. Without this we would have had to cancel our reservation as the parking was terrible. Food was very good as we had expected it would be. Waitress was very attentive - and did not rush us. Disappointed that the restaurant did not comply with our request to celebrate the 70th birthday of twins who had travelled from PA and CT to be together for their big day."

  • "I had salmon which was good. Wife and son each had lobster which was tough (tail meat). Wife also had sauteed spinach which was undercooked. Nothing you couldn't get at any other local restaurant or perhaps a Diner. Considering they specialize in seafood, expected better. Waitress was MIA for the last half of our meal, no excuses considering it was a Sunday night and there were many empty tables. Might give it a second chance provided lobster is not a desired choice going in."

  • "Welcoming, witty, and wonderful hostess gave us a great first impression of this Boston-based restaurant. We have never been to the Paramus location, but the waiter wowed us with his knowledge, his personality, and his attentive service. From the appetizer to the dessert, the food was fit for foodies and beyond, with a menu that's more than seafood."
