I've taken my family here many times and usually it's perfect for the occasion (good food, ideal location, very kid friendly, great service). This week on Veteran's day, I was there with a friend and we had our kids in tow -- 5 between the two of us. Food as usual was good, but service was very mediocre, perhaps because we're no longer in the summer season, and/or have staff moved to the larger restaurant down in the seaport district? The greeter didn't do much greeting, and the waitress spilled a cup of soup all over my son; she was very apologetic and in the end we were fine, but I was surprised that the service just seemed a little less enthusiastic than our prior experiences.

Our waitress was exceptional, fun, vibrant, extremely knowledgeable of the restaurant and their food. New to Boston this was the one restaurant (Long Wharf) we were told was a must! NE clam chowder did not disappoint. Stuffed lobster was very good. The manager brought our bill so he could make sure everything was to our liking before we paid! Can't wait to try their location in Atlanta since they pride themselves in consistency and fresh seafood!

A weekend in Boston and we wanted to experience some Seafood Sunday night. We were told the State Street location near the harbor would be the best experience with a view. No argument there, and the hostess kindly gave us the premier table with a view in the bar area. Although very dark with no overhead light, the view of the cobblestone streets and harbor was excellent. The disappointment was clearly the food. Lite Clam Chowder was warm at best while the others had the famous Clam Chowder with no regrets. Whole Lobster again was pretty much cool to warm and the Signature Crab Cake Combo was sent back the first time due to a barely warm temperature and replaced with just a warm touch. Server was well aware of our complaints. No Response !

I would highly recommend your establishment to anyone who lives or visits in or around the Boston area. The food was delicious, the atmosphere and location was grand BUT the service was OUTSTANDING! From the minute we walked in and were greeted by Patrick Powers, the manager, and then served by Filipe, our family knew the evening was going to be a culinary delight. AND it was a wonderful experience in every aspect. My two grandchildren (ages 7 and 10) were equally pleased; not easily achieved in a restaurant atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned for lunch the next day before we left to return home to Michigan.

A friend recommended this chain for decent seafood near our hotel. Across the board the food was solid and fresh. One order for the seafood platter was probably more fried seafood than one person might want. Suggest sharing or mixing some non fried foods. Gluten free options were available which was great for our family (non fried). Best aspect was the location and the restaurant was very accomodating to get us to a table quickly (we had a reservation but arrived early).

Leagal Seafood was recommended to us for our first visit to Boston by several sources, they all hit the mark! Seated outside we had a great view of harbor activity plus pleasant, knowledgable and efficient wait staff. The Rolls they serve with salad were wonderful, our entrees: crab cakes and jasmine shrimp were perfect. The mojitos were one of the best I've had and dessert was their version of Boston Cream pie-very tasty. We would definitely come back to this multi location Boston treat. Personally, I would choose the Long Wharf location for the water ambience.

This packed restaurant is in the heart of the harbor tourist scene, and we were entertaining tourists and needed a place that could accommodate lots of special requests/needs. First and foremost, my husband was diagnosed just a week earlier with celiac disease. The restaurant managed to please nearly everyone - gluten-free rolls (!) and menu, lobsters for the out of town guests, lovely and tasty cioppino for the foodie, great chicken entree for the one who doesn't eat seafood, perfectly cooked dozen (!) scallops. The only exception was that the vegetarian box was way too oily and low on tofu. A salad/app combo would have been better. Visually impaired guest so they without question arranged a window table. And gracious over all.

Having eaten here twice on a four day visit in February 2013, we were hoping to replicate the outstanding experience on this trip. We came very close. We had the steamed lobster and it was top notch. The bananas foster dessert was very good. The bananas are served in a pitcher (hot) to pour over the ice cream a little at a time so you don't end up with bananas foster soup. The warm rolls were good. The caveats: it was so dark at our table I had to use my phone light to read the bill, the server was not as attentive and efficient as we had seen previously, but nothing really bad. The creamed corn with bacon and basil was excellent in taste but the corn was a little tough and included a few tiny bits of cob, but I would try it again.

I dined here with my nut-allergic grandchild. Such consideration for her wellbeing, with every person we encountered assuring us of her safety. Another point, no alcohol ordered, one adult, one kid's meal, no desert, this was not a high ticket dinner, but we were treated with great courtesy. Plus food was delicious as usual. Thank you.

Don't be too quick to easily dismiss this place as just a chain restaurant. The quality and freshness of the food is clearly evident and superior. The steamed lobster is well worth it. The sides are OK, the soba noodles are nothing special and the fries are just regular shoestring fries with no skins, something you wouldn't necessarily expect at a place that will run you over $100 for 2 lobsters with wine. But the really fresh and properly done seafood more than makes up for it.

Situated between the big waterfront hotels, this is not a location I would advise for a nice date-night dinner. The server used a hand-held computer to take the order and when my wife asked to change something as he hadn't even left the table yet, his response was "sorry, it has already been sent to the kitchen" with no thought to ask to make it right--just that it would be a major inconvenience to him. However, if you are on an expense account with a business group, go for it. Eat it up, but I will be spending my own $ elsewhere next time.

We just went to Boston and decided to try this restaurant on a recommendation. My brother-in-law drives a scooter because he lost a leg to diabetes, and the staff seemed taken aback that we had to leave it parked near the table, because the tables were close to each other and there was nowhere to leave it. Our server was very nice and friendly, but she forgot to tell me the restaurant ran out of baked potatoes after my dinner was served. When the server finally came back near our table, I mentioned I was waiting for the potato when she said they ran out and offered me something else instead. At this point, I was already done with my dinner, so I declined,. I loved the Thai calamari, but the rest of the food was average at best.

We chose Legal seafood for its convenient location and after looking at many reviews online. The restaurant was BUSY, it took 2 hours from when we got seated to get our entrees. The wine list was unremarkable, the cocktails we ordered lacked in taste. The appetizers took so much time to arrive we had to asked for another basket of bread (best part of the meal). The main entrees were bland (The lobster and muscles had no taste and there was no butter or sauce on the plate to enhance ( I had to ask for some), the fish was too submersed in sauce to has a recognizable taste, the crab cakes were bland)). Our server was super friendly, but she was too busy talking to other tables, it took her a full hour to take our entire order.
