A word from Legal Sea Foods - Long Wharf
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn’t be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels. We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods.

We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

We went with some out-of-town friends who heard really good things about Legal Sea Foods. It has been a number of years since I went in there. The waitress was incredibly friendly, almost too familiar which for me often seems disingenuous, but in this case the waitress made it work. The decor needs to be refreshed. We couldn't get in to the Harborside location and settled for this one. I probably won't go back because there are so many better places in the area at a similar price. The fresh food was good. The rest of the food was typical "chain restaurant garbage". It's the same slop they serve in chain restaurants around the country. If you don't mind average chain restaurants then this place is for you.

We have dined at many Legal Seafood restaurants over the years. This facility is no where near the benchmark that LS Management sets …Unfortunately, it sets a bad tone for the rest of the chain.Staff is not knowledgeable or responsive, Facility was noisy and table plates and glasses unclean.Food was mediocre...At a prime location in the heart of Boston I'd keep walking. The team should go down the street to the Seaport and take a lesson.I will still go to Legal's but not this place

We really enjoyed our lunch after a morning of touring, but if possible make a reservation. The whole wharf area is jammed & the restaurant was super busy, but the food was wonderful, especially the clam chowder & crab cakes.

I went to Legal Seafood-Long Warf for my graduation dinner. The reservation was for 9:15pm and they were ready for us at 9:15. I've lived in the Boston area for ten years and have not found a clam chowder that can compete with Legal's. My mother and I both got the lobster bake. It was awesome. The dish was beautifully prepared with a lobster, muscles, steamers, corn on the cob and smoked sausage. It was more than I could eat. The lobster was perfectly cooked; very nice and tender. The noise level was a bit high in the room where we were seated because there was a rather aloud party but it was bearable. Keep up the good work Legal!

We went there with our two teens while visiting Boston. It was a rare treat as we don't usually spend that much on a meal and everyone loved it. The waitress was very helpful and ready to answer any question. I heard a waitress at another table asking another patron "is this your first lobster?" and then went onto explain how to eat it. We would definitely eat there again. Between the four of us we got steamers, muscles, swordfish, salmon, tuna, lobster, filet mignon, and clam chowder so we got to try a number of items.

After the hustle and bustle of the aquarium, this was a nice place to relax and enjoy excellent seafood. They truly cater to kids as they each got fruit and a small piece of corn on the cob on their plates. Also, the choices for side dishes that accompany lunch are awesome, not just your usual fries and slaw. Crabmeat roll was great. Jalapeno polenta also.

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed other locations of Legal Seafood since moving to Boston. Since we had family in town, we thought we would try the Long Wharf restaurant for its location. The food was good, as we have come to expect, but the Long Wharf location was very loud and hectic, which is a big change from the calm, mellow atmosphere we have come to appreciate. We had a hard time hearing each other at the table and our view was really just of crowds of people. I would say if you are in the area of the Boston Harbor, absolutely visit Legal Seafood at Long Wharf, but if another Legal Seafood restaurant is closer to you, go for it.

Easy to make a reservation. Arrived 45 min early and were seated outdoors in about 10 minutes. Staff was very accommodating even though we only had reservations for indoor dining. Service was very good, especially considering how busy it was on Friday night in the summer. Good seafood. Good variety of choices. Easy location coming from Logan Airport. Don't forget to get your parking ticket discount for the Boston Harbor Garage.

I went with a friend on Friday night. Dinner for two at 6 p.m., probably there busiest time. First, the service. Upon arriving, we were seated at a table that wasn't what I had asked for in our reservation. I advised our hostess who immediately responded with a smile and got us a better table. No less that 3 people came by our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Service was top notch. The cocktails were delicious. We both ordered clam chowder and fried clams. Clam chowder was great, just the way I like it - not too thick, not too thin. The fried clams were excellent. Nice and sweet. However, the portion sizes were a bit on the small side but nothing that was a big surprise or a major issue. Wonderful!

Legal doesn't try to do to much with their seafood dishes as some other unmentioned seafood chains do. They prepare their seafood dishes relatively simply but cooked and presented properly. And it is always fresh. It is a busy, high volume restaurant but we don't go for the ambiance, we go for fresh seafood done right.

In February I took my team out for an appreciation lunch and that day the food was not up to par. I was asked to do this survey and reviewed honestly. Legal was very quick to contact me to find out more about our experience. The same people went back this week and everything was fantastic. The fried clams were amazing, my grilled salmon with asparagus and truffled mushrooms was very good too. One of the members of our party had the baked stuffed shrimp and said it was very good. The other ordered the crab cake sandwich and he also said it was excellent. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We will certainly be back.

This location was on the Boston waterfront in a very tourist location, but other than hard to get in, their service and quality meet all standards. It is family friendly as well as having a good adult options.

Of the four meals ordered, two meals were very good and two were a miss. The crab cakes were heavily mayo-ed making them more like crab salad. The Lobster Roll had way too much celery seed in it and at $26, very dissappointing. These Re not difficult dishes to get right, crab and lobster - easy! Service way just OK, other tables appeared to be better served by other waiters. The other dishes we ordered, calamari, blue fish, seafood grill, we're very good.

I've been to several Legals over many years. This particular location is not my favorite because of how crowded with tourists it gets. Even though we had reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table. Our server was ok but a little combative and had to spend much of his table service poking at his little electronic tablet while entering our order. More eye contact would have been appreciated. The food was typically very fresh and good. Amazing that with being that busy, they got our food to our table that fast. Maybe it's those stupid little tablets!

As we wanted to avoid long wait on a Saturday night, we booked our table online weeks in advance. We arrived 10 minutes early and ended up having our table over 40 minutes past our reservation time! We saw a party of 5 walking in 20 minutes after us, right from the street and they got their table within 10 minutes! Pointless reservation!!!! In addition, the service was very slow, the food was good but not outstanding, for the price and with 2 kids, we got seated in the bar section. Overall we were disappointed. I would say the best time to go is after 9pm on weekend.
