  • "The food and service were outstanding. Food came quickly. My husband had the catfish and I had a platter with broiled shrimp, crabcake and scallops. The food was very fresh and flavorful. The crabcake was 100% crab."

  • "Our small group was in DC for the weekend and take in the blossom's. Made a reservation with Open Table and was happy to have done so as the place was full at eight in the evening when we arrived. Meredith was fantastic in describing the many selections and how sides items could be enhanced. ( I loved the mushrooms) Everyone in our group was pleased with the experience."

  • "I was entertaining an out of town guest who had one request...SEAFOOD. My friend is from a landlocked state so it was important to me that she thoroughly enjoy her experience. We had visited a couple of other purveyors of what I can only call seafood product which had left a bad taste in both our mouths and a need for copious amounts of alcohol and chocolate to obliterate the memory. So on her last night in town we went to Legal Sea Foods and to my relief the food was excellent. She had the lobster and I had the red snapper both were well prepared and served. Speaking of which let me take a minute to compliment the wait staff, attentive, knowledgeable and most important ready with a refill but never an interruption to the meal."

  • "Was in the Crystal City and stopped at Legal Sea Foods for an 830 PM Open Table reservation. The Almond Crusted Salmon with delicate ravioli and sauteed spinach was the proverbial, "to die for". The Calamari was painfully average at best. Too many places overcook calamari which makes it rubbery and Legal Seafoods seemed to do the same! Yikes - disappointing. All else was great tho. Service was good, food was good, and for the landlubber in our group there were enough offerings! Would have given it a 5 for food except for the Calamari (sorry). BTW, the rolls were PIPING hot and made intaking those carbs really tasty! Try it, you will like it! USE OpenTable - our reservation got us the seat as soon as we arrived!"

  • "Everything was great for a birthday dinner. The staff was attentive and accommodating - and didn't push food or drinks. We were not rushed even though we started early and the restaurant filled up."

  • "This restaurant is consistent in their performance of providing outstanding food, service and management! A must visit in Crystal City and the DC Metro area for the best prepared seafood offered by super knowledgable, friendly, and professional staff. You can tell management maintains the highest of standards."

  • "We obviously made reservations through Open Table for 8:45 on a Saturday night. showed up 5 mins early and were seated immediately with folks waiting for tables. Got the 4 top right in front of the kitchen but at least we got very prompt service throughout the meal. Had a couple of cocktails, and some clam chowder (2 die 4) to start. My GF had the crabcake combo and I had the seafood casserole; both were very rich but exactly what I wanted that night. Could have done with a few less bread crumbs on the casserole but loaded with yummy seafood. No room for dessert but waitress brought an ice cream bonbon trio for my B-day so we scarfed that down too. Patio looked like a nice place when the weather warms up. We'll be back....."

  • "I took my man to this restaurant because I knew the food would be great based on past experience. HOWEVER, I ordered the stuffed shrimp casserole and it came out burnt along with the fries. We sat in a crammed corner. The waiter could barely fit between the table to hand me my food. It was very noisy. I will say the waiter Denis V was very nice."

  • "I selected this location for Legal Seafoods instead of DC or Tysons Galleria because it is NOT in the District of Columbia, and it was too far to travel to Tysons in the time-slot available. We had a good seat--far better than some others behind us and nearer the window. We were having dinner with an out-of-town friend and wanted to impress her with the quality of the seafood. She seemed quite pleased, but I was frankly rather disappointed with my mid-menu price "seafood casserole". It was overloaded with bread crumbs--enough to absorb all of the cream sauce and then some. The "meat" was fine, fresh tasting, but the presentation and sauce left a lot to be desired. My recommendation would be "layoff the bread crumbs"."

  • "We were out and about and had a taste for fish at an early dinner. Legal Seafoods in Crystal City saved the day. Yes, there's hustle and bustle, but the food was fresh and tasty. Pleasant surprise."

  • "We went for my cousin's birthday, and everything was delicious. This might not look like a choice for vegetarians and vegans, but there's a Thai stir fry on the menu and other dishes the kitchen is willing to adapt (I had fish tacos with out the fish - delicious). Outstanding service as the server must have overheard us talking about my cousin's birthday and brought something special for dessert without my asking. Lunch menu is a good value for the quality and experience."

  • "Delicious food. Our server was polite and attentive. The restaurant was very loud, but it certainly had an energetic feel. Our party of six was still able to enjoy conversation. The food came out together and was fresh, hot and amazing. We all chose different menu items and there wasn't anything we didn't like. The New England clam chowder is not to be missed!"

  • "The mussels, which are always good are very large at this time. So if you are looking to bulk up and not compromise on flavor or tenderness now is the time to visit LSF Crystal City! Besides the always good food can't beat the outstanding service and management!"

  • "Was surprised to see the place so crowded for an early dinner on Monday night. The tables were so close we could hear conversations on every side, and the overall noise level was high. The service was good, but the server seemed constantly rushed. The food was good, and I would return. I just wonder if there is a time when it isn't so packed and noisy."

  • "Legal is always good, but this was GREAT. had a meeting with a friend and dinner was the main point in the meeting as it turned out. The chowder was as good as always, just add the butter back that the health nuts reject, the crab cakes perfect, then the Rockefeller Rock Fish Special was tremendous, lite and full of flavor. you can't miss here for lunch dinner or just a quick snack(Chowder). I'll be there again and soon I hope. the don"

  • "Wed night apparently is apparently Legal of Crystal City's busiest night. It was packed to the rim. Despite that are reservation was honored immediately, the food. Was incredible and the service was flawless. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Made 8pm reservation on open table. Arrived on time. Waited 25 minutes to be seated. They clearly overbook this place. Don't go here if you expect to be seated on time. Food was good."

  • "Went to lunch here with my best friend since I was visiting from out of town. The food and service was amazing!!! Definitely will visit again!"

  • "My husband and I were given the recommendation to go to Legal Sea Foods by some friends of ours that live in D.C. We took them up on their suggestion, and were VERY pleased with our experience! The service was professional, the food was excellent, all in an intimate but energetic atmosphere. My husband ordered Cioppino, and I ordered swordfish! It was absolutely delicious! For dessert we had blood orange sorbet and my husband ordered ice cream! We would recommend Legal Sea Foods to anyone looking for fresh seafood!!"

  • "I specifically sought out Legal Foods based on my Boston experience. This one, sadly, did not live up to the experiences I had in the Boston area. The food was mediocre, the service, I think she forgot we were there and there was very few people in the restaurant, it was 4:00 in the afternoon, afterall. My mate said his steak wasn't cooked to his specification. I am a Legal Seafood fan, but, sadly, not of this location."

  • "This was my first time to Legal Seafoods and it was worth the wait. The food was fantastic. I was surprised the restaurant was so small and crowded..and thus it was a bit loud to have a conversation. But this is a good place to bring visitors when they come to town."

  • "All four meals were excellent. Maryland Cream of Crab soup was amazing - best ever. Service was prompt, but not rushed. Very busy place, so a little noisy, but not difficult to talk across the table. Great dining experience."

  • "I wanted to impress a friend who was visiting from out of town who especially requested to eat crab cakes. I immediately thought of Legal Seafood and they delivered. The General Manager even stopped by our table. Thanks for making me look good. I will be back again."

  • "I was disappointed that I still had to wait for my table, even with a reservation, about 15min... but the Manager and staff made up for it with customer service and attentiveness. They shared a new appetizer, which was out-standing and I'm sure I will order it again on my next visit."

  • "My girlfriend and I went here for our two year Anniversary. I have eaten at Legal many times at many different locations but my girlfriend had never been there before. There food and service are typically good but the food and service that we received Friday evening was exceptional!"

  • "Fantastic seafood. Everything was fresh and excellent. Wood fired scallops were delicious. Good choice of raw oysters for an appetizer. We had the Bluepoints and they were awesome. Only negative was the tables are very close together and you are only inches from people at the next table."

  • "The food, oysters, drinks never change in their quality. I can't say this for all Legal restaurants but Crystal City has been consistent year after year."

  • "We were flying out early the next morning, and needed a good spot for dinner on a Friday night. No problems booking late through Open Table, and our request for a boot the accommodate our 4 and 7 year olds was cheerfully accommodated. Our eldest doesn't like seafood, and was very happy with his cheese pizza. Our youngest adored his cod in panko, and ate most of the shrimps from my grilled platter, and all of the shrimps from his dad's fried platter. For the adults.... Calamari were tender and wonderful, scallops sweet and large, shrimp equally good. My fish selections were perfectly cooked. My Mai tai was way too sweet... But drinkable. Dessert was bananas foster.... Delicious!"

  • "Call and made a reservation; still waited about an hour to get our food served. The poor waiter tried to apologize for the slow kitchen, somebody didn't show for work? Food appearance was pedestrian and below what I would have expected for Legal Seafood. Food was ok, but presentation was no better than Red Lobster with double the price! Appetizer was particularly poor. Crab dip was less than half of the crock it was in; poorly presented."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Completely unenthusiastic greeting (Red Lobster probably would have done better), people dressed all kinds of casual, couples with babies/small kids, safe menu choices, service very casual, food kind of corporate, fairly bland, kind of overcooked/dry, no atmosphere. Not saying it should have been a magical evening at a 5-star restaurant, just that there was no hint of refinement or elegance at all. Nothing terrible, no rudeness or anything, but considering it has the image of more than Red Lobster, was probably the most disappointing seafood restaurant experience I've ever had. Very forgettable. Save your money, go to Red Lobster, or if you want something up from that, go to Bonefish, or up from that, Hooked in Reston/Blacksalt in DC."

  • "I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Florida and Louisiana so I have a certain expectations when it comes to seafood. For what they charge I assume the food was going to be absolutely delicious and it was just okay. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and next time I'll try something a little more challenging on the menu. The fisherman's platter left a lot to be desired."

  • "mojito I ordered awful, thankfully they took it back. If you want specialty drinks not the place to order them. Stick to wine and would recommend that if you want high-end order by the bottle, I order by the glass and was flat. I was disappointed that even after I made note that I wanted a seating reservation for special occasion, I was seated by an area where the water and menus were placed so there was constant reaching by the waiter staff"

  • "The steel head trout special is nothing to carp about! Amazing preparation especially with the crab topping. A definite winner! Along with the outstanding service and great new wine list a must destination."

  • "Great service, quality food on a busy Monday night lobster a tad overcooked but oysters were excellent in all aspects. Bread pudding special was certainly a highlight. Commitment to fresh seafood evident for this 30 restaurant non local chain. No fishy smells and food comes out hot. Attentive and knowledgable waitstaff abound."
