A word from Legal Sea Foods - Copley Place
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.
We know shopping induces hunger. Our restaurant is located on the upper level of Copley Place, with direct indoor access to both the Westin and Marriott hotels as well as to the Prudential Center. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Boston’s historic South End.
We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” (USA Today, 2013), “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Great dinner with wonderful old
friends reconnecting with Boston and its famous seafood!"

Always consistent . Food is always
really good. Served hot, attentive waiters. Best place for fish in the back bay."
Dined on 7/5/2014
We had a fabulous meal, window
seating, the service was perfect and the food was delicious. My friend who was visiting from TN wanted good seafood and Legal delivered."
Dined on 7/3/2014
Love legal, since the food and
service are reliably good. I tried an experiment this night, ordering the striped bass special, and it was a mistake, a curious admixture of flavors (nuts and yogurt?) that simply didn't work. Served with a recommended syrah, nothing of this dish was anything but curious = but it is fun to try something new there. The chef needs to drop this preparation from his/her list."

Tired and dated interior; cooking
was uninspired. Our tuna sashimi was overwhelmed by the sauce and spices - there was clearly no delicate hand at work. There were 2 exceptions - wonderful selection of delicious raw oysters and our waiter."

On June 21, 2014 I had
reservations at Out of The Blue in Somerville, MA and did go and was told my reservation was cancelled. Call the restaurant I was there."

I was wary of chain seafood
restaurants (alba red lobster) but was pleasantly surprised with our meal. The haddock and crab cakes were fresh and done to perfection. Definitely will return. Service was efficient and pleasant. Price was not unreasonable."
Dined on 6/25/2014
It was my first time in Boston. I
wanted to have some superb clam chowder, that's it. I believe the clam chowder was not quite up to my expectations. I wanted it to taste better. Ambience, service, views, were amazing. The Boston creme pie will definitely make me return!!! That saved the entire experience. I left on a very positive note!"
Dined on 6/26/2014
The fisherman platter was amazing
as was the clam chowder. The lobster was 4/5 which was Dixie to price. Service was perfect for the type of restaurant would definitely return, love it."
Dined on 6/25/2014
We had a great time, as usual.
The food was terrific and the waitress friendly, attentive and very competent."
Dined on 6/23/2014
There were 4 of us. We had
steamers, fried calamari and chowder as starters. Then two orders of large lobsters, two fish orders, sides, three deserts, multiple drinks, coffee and tea. We were hungry :) The server Jim P. got all the orders correct and was very attentive. The food is good at the Legal at this location. Jim made the meal even more enjoyable."

Great place for newbies to try
Boston's signature dishes in 1 place. Convenient locations for tourists. A bit pricey but the seafood was fresh and high quality. Service was outstanding. Waitstaff and hostess went out of their way to make us feel special. We had our moody 20 year old daughter with us and this place made her very happy. That was a tall order. Copley Place location quieter than Boylston location. Copley more for families and older people who are not into the bar scene. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family members who visit Boston."

My husband wanted to go to the
Italian area but I chose Legal Seafood because of their reputation for great seafood and being a local Boston favorite. The atmosphere was casual but a bit sterile (no warmth, fun, etc) and the prices were pricey for the atmosphere so I expected the food to be great. We ordered crab cake appetizers and lobster for dinner. The crab cakes were meaty and the mustard sauce was very good so I was cited for dinner. The lobster, however, was rubbery and a real disappointment. I told the waitress it was not great and she smiled and did nothing......I'm sure there are a million better places to get good lobster in Boston and I clearly chose wrong."

Legal Seafood is always a
worthwhile option for anyone seeking good food."

Friend of mine came from
Cleveland, Ohio and invite them to Legal Seafood at Copley Place for dinner. I had "Fishman's Platter" and it came out overly cooked and oily. Especially, shrimp, scallop (2 pieces each) and fish (very small tale part of the fish) were very small size and portion filled for fried potatoes. However, the wine was excellent choice. The service needs more attention also."
Dined on 6/20/2014
Food was alright - portions were
enormous for everything. We had the Sriracha Popcorn Shrimp which was delicious and Rhode Island Style Calamari with hot peppers which was a really interesting flavour combination that I loved. I had the Sampler with tuna, salmon, swordfish, shrimp, scallops, brown rice and mashed potatoes - everything was okay if not a little bit bland. The scallops were a bit rubbery. My SO had the Crab Stuffed Shrimp Casserole and it was only okay - there were tons of crunchy (aka undercooked) onions and an overwhelming flavour of breadcrumbs. Overall service was pretty good. I would definitely return as I've had much better meals there and it is very reasonably priced for good quality seafood."

Nice place for great seafood
selections. Convent to Copley hotels and all attractions in the area."

"Legal Sea Food" has restaurants
in multiple locations. We found the Copley Place restaurant to be quiet and comfortable with a great view of Boston's South End. The food was excellent and served in a timely manner. It was a special birthday celebration and they handled it all with style and ease."
Dined on 6/14/2014
Every time I visit Boston, I
always go here. This time had the Lobster, delish!"
Dined on 6/12/2014
Sometimes you just need a spot
away from the tourist, offering a quiet spot to dine. This Legal's offers such a deal, as it is slightly off the crowded paths of Back Bay. The food is fresh, service is good, and the wine list broad and interesting. And, this time of year, yummy soft shell crabs, what a treat!"
Dined on 6/11/2014
We came in to celebrate my
father's 50th birthday . Everyone from the host stand to our server were very welcoming . Jessica (our server) was very accommodating to our needs. She didn't rush us or come around too much to bother us. She was very friendly and overall one of the best servers I've had. Legals also impressed me when the manager Courtney took time to come to our table to wish my dad a happy birthday. She also brought of my little sisters food, who is allergic to all nuts. It was very nice to see that they cared enough to make sure we knew that precautions were taken when handling my sisters allergy. We will definitely be back for more! It was an awesome experience !"
Dined on 6/7/2014
Good food and service. Very noisy
due to screaming kids and large loud party nearby."
Dined on 6/6/2014
We have been to Legal Seafood many
times...but this location needed better organization. It took almost 1 hour from the time our order was placed to the time we were served. During the delay, they did give us a complimentary tray of Shrimp. The Boston Scrod was good but the Sashimi Tuna was mushy and inedible. We were disappointed!"
Dined on 6/5/2014
Good but not super sea food.
Services excellent. Good range food choices, great desserts."
Dined on 6/4/2014
Legal Seafoods is always
consistent and the fish is fresh and well prepared."
Dined on 6/2/2014
Alas, a rehearsal dinner seemed to
bring the restaurant to a standstill, and we waited more than 90 minutes to get served. The food is reliably good and it is a pleasant space with sufficient room around each table that you don't feel sandwiched in. Still, this was not a great experience."
Dined on 5/30/2014
The restaurant was very crowded
and clearly the kitchen was stressed. My swordfish was badly overdone. To their credit, I was refunded for the entree."
Dined on 5/29/2014
Our first time at this restaurant.
Was not disappointed! A wonderful dining experience and great food!"
Dined on 5/27/2014
Food is good. the Venue is tired
and in need of a refresh. Its just not pleasant inside. Its old and dark in some places. Could use an upgrade."

Legal Sea Foods is all about
fresh, good-quality seafood, and that's what we had when we dined at the Copley Place restaurant. I ordered the Lobster Bake, which was a whole lobster atop a mountain of clams and mussels, and my wife had the Stuffed Trout. The preparation of the seafood was very simple and straightforward. It's not the cutting edge of culinary adventure, but their approach seems to be to let the flavours of the seafood speak for themselves, and it works when you start with fresh ingredients. Our server was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, and ready to offer advice on the dishes. We were fortunate enough to be seated next to the restaurant's large windows, and had a pleasant view of the city."

We had two lunches there while
attending a conference. One was with 9 people, the second with 3. Both experiences were very positive. The staff was highly attentive and engaging, and the food was generally described as excellent by the participants. Ambient noise levels can get high once the dining area fills up, and this is nicely offset by a lovely view overlooking Boston's South End."
Dined on 5/21/2014
We had a celebratory meal with 13
family members. Our main concern was that we wouldn't be able to hold a conversation because of the noise level in a restaurant. Prior to the dinner we had even considered finding a location with a separate room for our party, but decided to try this. The noise level was excellent. We were able to feel the calm of being in a restaurant with a reasonable noise level allowing for conversation. Our food was beautiful, we weren't rushed and it couldn't have been a better evening. Our server was outstanding."
Dined on 5/17/2014
First soft shell crabs of the
season - heavenly preparation: tempura with several interesting sauces. Crab cakes and scallops were excellent. Our server was great - very busy but she never forgot us. Would have prepared a little more mojito with a little less ice. Otherwise a fine meal."
Dined on 5/18/2014
The service was best and the
ambient was so comfortable, however, the food itself is not as delicious as I expected"
Dined on 5/16/2014
Great gluten free menu and they
now have gluten free rolls / bread to accompany your meal. The seafood here is consistently good."

This is a great location for
visitors staying in local hotels to experience Legal Sea Foods. Being right in the mall, it's an easy walk without having to go outside. Being Legal Seafood, the standard menu has something for everyone, meat lovers, vegetarians, etc. and for those who love seafood, there are great choices. The food was perfectly cooked, the portions were very large, and the desserts were delicious. The service was great, the hostess staff was welcoming and friendly. Our group of four had a great experience. "
Dined on 5/8/2014
I have yet to find a more fresh
selection of oysters on the half shell than at Legal. Paired with the very attentive service (ask for Kimberly and you won't be disappointed) and scenic view, this Legal location trumps many others in the Boston area. "
Dined on 5/8/2014
Loved our waiter! He made the
experience great! Loved the reasonably priced wines. Most of us had the clam chowder, delicious! We then moved on to crab cakes. This location was quieter than the other mall location. I would dine here again."
Dined on 5/4/2014
Always a go to place for excellent
food and service. If something isn't just right they will fix it immediately."
Dined on 5/3/2014
Lovely setting, good service, but
tough lobster? Seriously? We would hope that Legal would have mastered this preparation. Wedge salad and drinks were very good. The filet was nothing special, especially at that price. Don't recommend considering the many other choices in Boston. Sorry."
