Even though I had made a reservation well in advance for 7 people, we had to wait at least 15 minutes for the table and the receptionist was snippy with me when I went to ask how much longer the wait was. Aside from that, we love it there. Once seated, we did have excellent service. Food was great as usual. It might be a good idea to specify medium rare. Everything was delicious, including the sides. Good wine list. On a busy Mother's Day afternoon the wait staff was friendly and efficient, wishing all the Moms a happy mother's day. Although it was a bit hectic due to the special occasion, the noise level in the booths was low - we still had a sense of privacy because of the well-thought out dining layout and good sound proofing. Even though we were at the bar, we had the same great service as if we had been at a table. And the bartender was fun to talk with. We enjoyed the attention and the food. Delicious tuna. It was great! Our server (Kevin I think... tall skinny guy.) was really helpful with the menu since we didn't really know what we wanted, and his white wine suggestion with the oysters was great. Everything was prompt, and I liked the little touches in the service and the overall friendliness of the staff. I got the crab cakes and LOVED them, and my friend liked her lobster roll. The place was overall pretty noisy though especially for an afternoon, but I guess that's not the restaurant's fault. Our wait was surprisingly short for what seemed like a busy night. The service was top-notch. Our waiter Kyle was very charming and professional, offering terrific suggestions of his favorite menu items and great wines to compliment them. Being long time patrons of Legals, it was nice to deviate from our usual menu choices and try something new.
A manager stopped by our table and offered a small appetizer before the meal which was nice. The noise level was a bit loud as others have mentioned, which is common with busy restaurants. This time our server seemed to lose track of us towards the end of our meal, leaving empty plates on the table for about 15 minutes and taking another 15 to get desert and coffee out. It was not very busy, the waitress just seemed distracted or perhaps a bit inexperienced. Not rude or terrible service, just inexplicably slow this time. For entrees, he had the wood grilled arctic char & I had wood grilled trout. We both enjoyed them very much. They were both cooked to perfection & simply seasoned. One of our side dishes was sherry mushrooms & that was buttery delicious. We also finished off a bottle of red wine. Can't really remember what it was, but for $35, it was pretty decent tasting & my pocket didn't hurt. I also have to acknowledge our waitress, Ashley. She was exceptionally awesome!
